Recently reopened, so still a work in progress with all the makings of a great place to visit. The interior is furnished in a very homely fashion giving a relaxed atmosphere. Limited but delicious food offered. Wonderfully quiet garden. A relaxed and pleasant owner who I wish every success. I will definitely be back. There seems to have been an issue with our payment, unfortunately, I cannot find any contact information. Maybe you can publish a contact phone number.

The Honest Miller is back up and running after the pub was derelict for a few years. Kate has created a warm and welcoming home from home with a great selection of beers and ciders and delicious sweet and savoury dishes. It's a perfect destination after a walk up on the Downs.

It is many years since I had visited this pub. We went early on Saturday night, looking for a meal. The pub was quiet and the car park empty, so no problem getting in. A good welcome and very good service from the landlord. We had a first class meal for a reasonable price. We will be returning much sooner this time.

We have tried many places for a Sunday lunch and finally found a very good one. Choice of meat or have a slice of more than one. Lovely Yorkshire and the gravy was delicious (so many places are quite watery). I had beef which was beautifully rare but they had less rare if you wanted this. No rushing you out of the door either and a choice of typical old style desserts (sponge puddings with custard). Just like a Sunday lunch at home without the cooking and washing up.

Summary - My honest opinion was that it was a lovely picturesque place but expensive for what we got (possible time of year peak Aug). Clean, friendly but not more comfortable than normal camping but definitely more convenient. Food excellent!Review - We’d not been glamping before but have camped loads in the UK and abroad with our own equipment. We liked the idea of not worrying about putting up a tent or making beds particularly as it had been raining a lot recently. We stayed 1 night then moved on to an eco pod elsewhere. The tent was spacious and looked cosy and nice decor. They provided towels which was amazing. They also provided some pots, cups and utensils which we didn’t use as we had our own. The hosts were very welcoming as well. The tent smelt damp / musty unfortunately and the beds were uncomfortable. My children are teenagers and the single set up was small even for my 12 year old. The bedding was lovely on the big bed and the duvet and pillows nice but the mattress was on pallets and wasn't comfortable. I didn’t sleep at all well and had some pain the next day in my lower back. An air bed may have been more comfortable. The shower and toilet were nice and clean but amusingly inside a shed with astro turf, it worked well if a little quirky. Potentially fulfilling up to 12 people if the other tents were full. We didn’t get to use the fire pit or deck chairs as unfortunately it rained but the communal area looked really nice. It’s a shame we were unable to experience this as this would have been lovely to use. The grass was very long in places (paths created) but at night it wasn’t possible to see the path especially in the rain to use the toilet and ended up stumbling through it. It would have been nice to have had power in the tents (electric hook up offered?) and be able to get the car closer to unload. We loved the setting in the countryside. We had a cuppa at 7am and it was lovely having it outside. Breakfast was very nice but put on quite late (earliest 9.30) and we’d got hungry. Checkout was 11. Lots of choice of items for breakfast though, hot and very tasty but only 1 cup of coffee or tea offered. A pot may have been nice. On the whole we enjoyed ourselves here. Staff recommended places to visit as well and a different route due to road closures very helpful.

Spent a lovely day glamping at the Honest Miller as a stopover on our way to Dover. We stayed in their new glamping bell tents at the back of the pub, really spacious, comfortable beds, and very stylishly decorated. We had planned to do one of the many local scenic walks but the weather was so good and the place was so peaceful and scenic we just stayed on site while our child played in the safe kids play area. We had dinner at the pub which was excellent, lovely atmosphere and a great pint of Guinness. Hosts were really friendly and welcoming, and to top it off we had possibly the biggest breakfast before we departed. We plan to go back to do some of the walks in the area, highly recommended

When here with my wife for the £30 steak meal with wine. We were not disappointed with the sirloin being nicely cooked and full of flavour. Good deal. Service pleasant but they need to fix the coffee machine! So many places have broken coffee machines and a good coffee rounds the evening off. Otherwise give it a go.

I booked this pub due to location and also when I phoned up the owner seemed really friendly and accommodating. The pub itself is undergoing some refurbishments but that didn’t put us off.The menu was short and sweet but everything on it was freshly cooked! There were also some gluten free options for myself. We were very happy with our meals, they were cooked to perfection and very tasty! The portions were huge and reasonably priced too! There was a lovely little high chair also for the baby. This is a great friendly family pub. With a lovely outdoor area also. The only downside was no baby changing area but I presume this is something that will be done in the future upon the refurbishment.

We visited here for a pre Christmas family Sunday lunch get together. The pub is in the middle of the beautiful village of Brook and has recently had a change of management. The decor is really nice and contemporary mixed with shabby chic to create a relaxing ambience. There was a good choice of fraught beers and wines and spirits all very reasonably priced. The Sunday lunch menu offers 4 choices of starters, a choice of 3 meats for main and 4 desserts. The price was £9 for 1 course, £12 for 2 & £14 for 3. The meat choices were chicken, pork or beef. Some of us had the prawn cocktail starter which was nice but nothing amazing. Others had the creamy garlic mushrooms which were lovely and served in individual skillets. The main roast course was absolutely wonderful. The pork was a whole piece of belly pork with crackling and was beautifully tender. The beef was lovely and tender and still pink in the middle and I’m sure there was almost a whole chicken on the plate! It was accompanied by roast potatoes, parsnip and carrot and the BIGGEST homemade Yorkshire pudding I have ever seen on a roast dinner!!! It also came with a separate side of vegetables to share between 2. It was served nice and hot and with an extra pot of gravy. It was all delicious! The service was good and we struggled to finish our plates. We did not have dessert as we were so full after our main course!! This pub offers superb value for money in a lovely setting and I will certainly be going again.

It’s been many years since we last visited the Honest Miller so when we saw a deal on a website we thought we would give it a go. Our table was for 7pm and on entry to the pub we were met by the “locals” sitting at the bar, this was not a problem. We were promptly seated in the restaurant by a friendly waitress. Surprisingly we were the only people in the restaurant. Our order was taken and and our bottle of red wine soon appeared at the table. Worryingly I noticed a fella coming into the restaurant numerous time setting up equipment for a musical performance. Our meals arrived, nicely presented and well cooked and then we was presented with a book from the fella detailing all the songs that he could sing by request. Seriously in the restaurant part, why not in the pub side? So much for a nice date night. We ate the meals, settled up the bill and left with our half drunk bottle of wine. What looked like a promising date night was spoilt. Would we return? Not sure.

Short lived visit for a mid week meal tonight.... We booked up for a meal tonight expecting to use our taste card, when we arrived the new bar staff checked with the chef, he declined as they were working at a loss and apparently had previously pulled out from taste card, however we showed them that the offer was still live on the site and Gareth the chef passed on the message via the bar lady that we couldn’t use it. We reconfirmed that the offer is still showing as a live deal yet via a message again he declined and would not honour the offer. The bar lady was very pleasant however Gareth then disappeared upstairs obviously not in the mood to take our business. We gave him one last chance to rectify the situation, and was asked to wait while he returned as she was not allowed to go upstairs. We’d already ordered a bottle of wine and an Ale on a running tab so we decided to leave without staying for our drinks as the chef was not even prepared to show his face to explain the situation and leave the lady behind the bar on her first shift to deal with it.

We visited Honest Miller with friends as they had been given a gift voucher for the four course tasting menu. This menu included a bottle of wine - the food was delicious and each course was full size which we weren't expecting, so there was more than enough food to satisfy even the largest of appetites. The first course was pigs in blankets, which seemed very strange and we laughed that they must have overbought for the Christmas menu, but they were served with a bowl of apple sauce and were very tasty. We then had soup or pate, belly of pork or sea bass, followed by a choice of deserts. All the food was served piping hot, which impressed me as all too often restaurants serve their food luke warm. The service was very quick and attentive. Should like to return when we are next in the area.

My partner took me for dinner on Saturday night, he booked through open table and when we arrived they didn’t have our booking, they said that they had cancelled open table but it still takes bookings. So if you book definitely call. It was fine they had room for us. The menu wasn’t as extensive as I had seen online. We shared a goats cheese flatbread for starter which was large and tasted nice. My partner ordered pork fillet and I ordered duck. My main arrived and the sauce and purée was cold and missing the confit duck leg which was stated on the menu. We had a young waitress who although was polite we didn’t see a smile from once and said she’d tell the chef (we got no apology or feedback) She said they had given me a larger duck breast (it wasn’t large) as they had run out of the leg. No one mentioned this when I ordered. They took it away and reheated it and it came back quickly, plate was now hot so had obviously been nuked. It was ok but was very bland. My partners was also fine but nothing special. For £17 per main I expect more! It was really bland as was my partners, the food looked nice but style over substance. We shared a dessert which again was nice enough. Probably won’t go back but I reckon things like burgers and fish and chips looked good. Might need to stick to pub food not gastro pub. Shame as we had found the pub on Instagram via the lanelife and were excited to try it.

Mmmm - ok, asked what the format was, was told and offered drinks. One drink came out wrong. Remember it wasn't exactly busy. Went to the Carvery - food was great - no problems at all. Went to the Honest Miller with family for a late Sunday lunch while visiting from Oz. Its is a lovely drive through the country side to get to the pub. Draw card to this place was that we could get a wheel chair in. Not overly busy but it did take a while for us to get onion rings and garlicpita bread. 3 of us ordered the hamburger and one pie plus thr kids cheeseburger and chips. The hamburgers were nicely presented but fell short on flavour. The meat patties were too thick and coleslaw had no flavour. As for the kids meal, it was far too big with too many chips and no option for vegetables. The pie I was told was good and this was also well presented. For dessert, the rice pudding and mulled fruit was very nice while the french apple flan was ok.Overall, a nice enough pub to go to.

2nd Visit and the food was delicious and amazing value. Our party had the blackpudding sausage roll and everyone said it was really tasty.I was holding out for a desert instead but the presentation was lovely. My friend chose the Tandori Coley and said the flavours were great and she would order the dish again. My husband had the beef shin and he was not dissapointed. The sauce was a homemade classical reduced gravy and he said he was far better than some more expensive restaurants we have visited and the nicest meal he has had in Kent for sometime.I had the fish and chips along with another friend and the batter was lovely and light and crispy. It wasn't greasy at all and had a generous amount of homemade tartar sauce. Not sure what they had done to the peas but they were absolutely delicious. All our plates were completely empty.I always get dissapointed with deserts when they are not homemade but the warm lemon meringue tart served here definately was homemade and amazing.Finished with a lovely strong coffee, just a perfect lunch. The young lady serving was quick and efficient and we didn't wait for anything. Will definately be back.

This was my fifth or sixth visit to the Honest Miller. I was disappointed at first with the menu that was given to us. The delicious regular menu item of a home made scotch egg had vanished along with what seemed like half of the last menu I saw there. Me and my partner ordered the prawn and chorizo starter. This took longer than expected to arrive to us considering there wasn’t more than 2 people eating as well. The prawns arrived, they were not cleaned properly, I had prawns with their intestinal tract still intact and one prawn with shell still on. The prawns themselves were over cooked and the sauce it was served in was watery. For a £9 dish. Not acceptable. For main course we ordered the £23 fillet steak and the best thing on the plate was the caramelised full onion. My fillet had gristle! The textures on the dish were just sloppy there was nothing which gave a crunch. Wilted spinach, soft onion soft layered potato, a sauce and some form of purée. Considering the prices of the dishes there is no way they were worth it. I attended the restaurant using a taste card which offered a 50% percent discount off the food bill and thank god I did. If I didn’t have the taste card I would have walked out. There is no way those meals were worth what is being charged. The menu seems to change every time I’m there. The service isn’t always great but it was always the food that encouraged me to return, however that is now out of the question.

With a lot of pub restaurants to compete against the Honest does not have a wow factor. The menu is really good and service was all right but nothing to tempt me back in a hurry.

Haven't been here for some years. This pub restaurant is now run by a delightful young couple, Husband is the chef and his Wife runs the bar and waiting at table. Good traditional menu and a good selection of specials for the day. Children catered for as well. We also had our very well behaved dog with us, but best to ask permission first. High chair was set up at our table for our granddaughter. Food was artistically presented with ample portions. There also appeared to be an excellent wine list which we will sample next time. Well recommended.

We had the steak and chips and couldn’t fault it. A wonderful piece of sirloin and great chips with a large mushroom, a tomato and a pile of rocket. All the cooked food was piping hot. The staff were friendly and we chatted with two locals who had just finished a lovely cod and chips for two at £12.We must now try the Sunday dinner.....or the pie night....or the fish!!!!!

My daughter and son-in-law booked this restaurant for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent. A wide variety of meat and well cooked vegetables. But I can unfortunately only give an average mark for the whole experience. My son-in- law made the booking and advised them that two pensioners were in the party of five.(it's four pounds less for pensioners.) we were charged full price and noticed only after paying the bill. The waitress said they did not like to ask if people were pensioners because they did not wish to offend.we took that as a compliment as my wife and I are both 77!She put our card in the machine again and said she was issuing a credit note. The ticket showed debit again but the waitress assured us it would be a credit note.the next day my wife checked with the bank and found that we had been charged a further another nine pounds! We had to make a round trip of twelve miles to get the nine pounds back. Pity but will not eat there again.

This was our first visit as we had heard good things about it. Tuesday night happened to be Pie and Pint for £12 night so I opted for the pie of the day which was chicken, ham & leek. washed down withe a Sharps Atlantic. The pie was superb as was the mash & veg. I'm not a fan of carrots & parsnips but these were lovely, and the mash was well seasoned and smooth. My partner had a smokey joe burger, which was huge, along with really good chips. If I had ordered it my only gripe would be it was served on a lump of wood. Plates please! Desserts were also top notch, and the whole bill, including drinks and 25% off with our Taste Card was less than £30. Overall a great pub and well worth a second visit. I notice that Thursdays are Steak nights.....

Undecided due to the fact that, cannot fault the food or the staff , both superb... however there are other localish eating houses just as good, some maybe better at much better prices. Would probably not go out of my way to return.

We went here on a Saturday evening, and after having a drink at the bar went straight for the mains, these being two steak and kidney pies, one swordfish steak and mine was the local seafood with spinach pastaThis consisted of a few mussels and squid rings with spaghetti in a tomato sauce, with not a prawn or clam in sight let alone a spinach leafThe cost of seven drinks and four mains and a side of fries was £93.85, overpriced for average food

Great to see some vegan options. I have previously had a vegan roast dinner here which was lovely but more recently I noticed they do a vegan pizza with vegan mozzarella. Really nice meal. Worth a visit.

We enjoyed two meals on a Friday evening. The restaurant wasn't overly busy but there was enough atmosphere. Scotch egg and pork ribs were especially good. Couple of niggles, paper thin tiny napkins and the cutlery wasn't replaced when the starters were cleared, No salt and pepper on the tables.Would we visit again? Yes for sure.

Second visit to the Honest Miller and enjoyed it both times. I had pie of the day which was chicken and delicious. 10 year old and 25 year old children had pizzas which were on a deal and a side order of chips. I tried both pizzas and the chips in the name of research and they were also very tasty.Very good value and good, friendly service.

We went yesterday for an evening meal and the food was wonderful. Being a vegetarian it was good to see a good selection of different choices on offer. I had the spaghetti with mushrooms, spinach and pine nuts. It was very tasty. My partner had the Romney Marsh Lamb which he said was very good. We enjoyed our meal so much we went back today for the carvery which was extremely tasty and a large choice of perfectly cooked veg. They use locally sourced food and drink which I feel is really important to support local businesses. Also they even do vegan pizza which was very refreshing to see as many places do not cater for vegans. We will definitely be going back. The price of the dishes on the menu was excellent value for money. Oh and not forgetting the lemon meringue sundae it was to nice.

This country pub in a lovely village was a disappointment. Tried to book a table for 7:30 and was told they could manage 7:45 so arrived expecting it to be heaving, but no, only one other couple dining which was a bit weird. We were told that a couple of selections on the daily specials menu were unavailable, however, when I ordered the 'Beef Wellington ' which was a highlighted special was told "oh sorry that's off too". I had the deep fried Camembert to start. Two golden crispy wedges of cheese came well presented but when I got to the thick end of the wedge it was still frozen so sent it back. The steaks we ordered for mains were delicious but the chips although well cooked were mainly inedible because they had been over salted. My wife had king prawns with her steak that were tasty and well cooked in their shells. But the finger bowl needed wasn't offered.I have a thing about napkins, I don't expect them to be linen but the thin postage stamp size examples used here looked like pound shop rejects. On paying the bill, noticed the Camembert was included, I mentioned it was sent back because it was still frozen. It was removed but without one word of apology.Sorry but we won't be back.

We booked in advance were told to sit and she would be over to take a drinks order shortly. After 20 minutes i complained and our drinks order was then taken. She said she was on her own and was busy. Our Red wine was served on ice, in a bucket! Water served in pint glasses! Menus asked for but we had to help ourselves to the specials menu from the bar. 45 minute wait for food but the spaghetti was very overcooked, had been cut into 1.5 inch pieces and was tasteless. Two of us had this and neither of us ate it. A third girl had dauphinoise which were nothing like the real thing although her lamb was good. We sat looking at finished plates for a further half an hour and then cleared our own table! We explained about the spaghetti and potatoes asked that the chef be told. We didnt have pudding we couldn't spare the time. Coffee arrived without saucers! I asked if she was new, she said shed been there a month and had a new baby. With only 2 tables booked she hadnt thought shed need help and hadnt expected other tables to come in off the street. She was obviously totally overwhelmed, had no training and was absolutely clueless as to how to be a waitress. Chef said he hadnt cut the spaghetti but had used metal tongs to turn it and it had just broken up, no apology for it being overcooked and apparently the potatoes came like that so that was that! The bill of £82 odd was the only thing to arrive promptly which we paid and left never to return. It was like a comedy sketch although the joke was on us!

Visited today for the first time, greeted by a very cheerful girl behind the bar, we were shown to our table, and left to browse the menu, so many yummy sounding dishes to choose from, food came out piping hot and presented well, tasted absolutely delicious, will recommend to family and friends, and hopefully return again soon

Disdainful and oppressive staff one minute say they have a table, next minute you’ll have to sit outside when there were numerous empty tables despite having building work done. Spent hundreds of pounds at The Ferry Inn over the years and recommended it to many but not anymore. The male staff member behind the bar was as miserable as sin as if he didn’t want to be working and even the girl behind the bar was poker faced. Never known it to be so unwelcoming at The Ferry Inn. My partner is disabled and for him to sit outside with the temperature gradually dropping for the day would have caused him a lot of pain and discomfort, but the male staff’s body language was tough luck. At least put someone in charge with a bit of customer service and charisma if you want return business and don’t want to drive customers away

We enjoyed our late lunch at this historic restaurabt. My fish was sourced from nearby Cranbrook. The accompanying chips and peas were generous in quantity. Table water was supplied and my pineapple juice was pleasant. The lavatory was clean and staff a pleasure.

Myself and 3 Biker mates visited yesterday and were impressed by the changes made to the place. Full of interesting Motoring memorabilia for all Petrolheads everywhere! The young staff were friendly and attentive as well as being highly efficient in their jobs. The breakfast is at the top of the price range at £11.95, but it was cooked beautifully and the ingredients top notch. Great Coffee too! We had a great time and will certainly return. An excellent Bikers retreat!
