We stayed here recently in our motorhome on the way to the tunnel (ring ahead to book space on the car park). Very warm and friendly welcome, food was delicious, chatted to some friendly locals - a brilliant start to our holiday. Highly recommend.

Service was really good, the fella was knowledgeable and could also share a joke. Good choice of beers on tap. We visited on a Sunday, roast is available plus a number of other choices. Main dishes everyone on our table enjoyed then. Desserts also good, love the idea of a coffee and dessert when 50p goes to the local school.

I called into The Farriers for a drink on my way home from visiting a client who’s based on the Romney Marsh. I walked into the bar that was just old men sitting on the bar stools. So actually trying to access the bar to order a drink was like an obstacle course. Obviously these were “The Locals” I felt awkward as it felt like I was an unwelcome guest while waiting for a bar tender to come and serve me. When the barmaid finally returned she acknowledged me with a short blunt smile but then poured the drinks for the locals even without asking “who’s next” After I managed to order my pint & packet of crisps, I sat at a sticky table and just observed. The customer service for “The Locals” was outstanding but for anyone else just walking through the door wasn’t so good. This was my first experience of this pub and I won’t be disappointed if it was my last!

A visit on one of the quieter days in the week was perfect, with local fresh produce clearly displayed from menu to plate. The menu accommodates a good range alongside their a la carte (specials) offering. Prices are reasonable and the portions are what you would expect from a local village pub offering. The pie is great, nice amount of filling, maybe a little more meat would have been a touch but still was lovely. Nothing is a problem either with small adjustments to the offering. Potatoes, mash they are very flexible which is a nice touch. The decor looks clean and fresh, just be aware of the low ceilings as you walk through the main door to the venue. The service was friendly and attentive, Sam was great and certainly ensured we were looked after. Return? Yes, will certainly have another visit.

The roast chicken is truly remarkable, and the staff is equally commendable. It would be advisable to make a reservation on weekends. My suggestion to the chef would be to consider adding some greens (french beans/ cucumber/ broccoli/ peas) instead of the two or three potato pieces for the Sunday roast.

Partner thoroughly enjoyed her pie with mash potatoes and seasonal vegetables and my steak was beautiful. Service was very good, but I don't agree with restaurants presuming the service is good and adding a service to the bill. It should left to the individuals opinion as to whether a service charge is due and how much. As it was, the bill was paid in full and we also tipped the young lass who served us. Would definitely make the journey to Mersham again.

Last minute booking to the farriers for dinner. The service was amazing, the waitress with the reddish hair didn’t stop smiling and she was lonely. A credit to your team. The food was lovely I had the pie and it was delicious so much so that we want to come back to have it again. One thing I love is businesses that support local farming and this is the place. Food was local and amazing. Tasted delicious, honestly the best pub meal I’ve had in ages. Lovely location, a little gem.

Not a great experience. No cutlery on the table at both courses, wine left with cork in bottle, service slow, cold food. The vegetable tart exploded on cutting as the pastry was so dry. The roast dinners were far below the standard of other pubs in the area. Yorkies like lumps of coal and potatoes soggy. Dessert not much better, icecream melted by the time it arrived suggesting it has been sitting around. We were generous in not paying the service charge as the food was well below a reasonable standard. At over £200 for 4 people it's not really good enough.

The Farrier Arms provided a delightful experience that exceeded all our expectations. A quick call to confirm they were open and dog-friendly turned out to be a fortuitous decision for our evening plans. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and immediately felt at home. The Hobgoblin ale and a fine selection of wine were just what we had been waiting for, perfectly complementing the relaxed atmosphere of this charming pub. The addition of two cups of peanuts made for a perfect snack. Sitting in the garden with our three dogs was a serene and enjoyable experience. The garden itself was beautifully maintained, offering a peaceful and welcoming environment for both us and our furry companions. The Farrier Arms is an absolute gem, and it provided the perfect setting for a cosy drink before settling in for the night in our VW campervan. We highly recommend this pub for anyone looking for a friendly, dog-welcoming spot with excellent drinks and a lovely garden to unwind in.

Set in the Kent countryside, in an idyllic farming village, the beer garden has green views and a picture book river with fish and two crossing footbridges into a paddock style area. Tables are laid out spaciously and there were shaded areas and under cover parts of the patio. Inside the restaurant is decorated to a high standard, with comfortable dining seats and tables dressed with a small from the garden style flower bouquet. There are a few traditional dried hops overhead in one or two places to remind you that you are in the garden of Kent, the once hop centre of the UK. The building is of some age with some low beams, cielings and frames in places. The bar is well stocked with a great variety of beers, lagers and wines, some of which are locally produced. The pub supports the local vineyards and it has a good community feel. The food was exceptional. Really exceptional. Classic food cooked in a way that makes me wish I could eat there every night. Initially put off by the lack of vegetarian options, but found something that worked for my 12 year old and all was good, in fact it was better than good, both children happily cleared their plates and rated the food 10/10. The food was sourced locally. It was full of flavour. Presented appetisingly with space on the plate. It was seasoned well. There wasn't a single issue with the food apart from it being so good that we didn't have room for the mouthwateringly tempting desserts. The customer service was fantastic. It really was a joy to dine there.

The ladies toilets are a disgrace....... black mold on the ceiling and around the windows!!!! The back of the doors greasy and black !!!! If the toilets are this bad it makes you wonder what the kitchen is like???? The garden at the back is uninviting and not cared for. The staff appear to be rushed off their feet trying to keep on top of looking after the customers !!! If there is no improvement I will look to go elsewhere!!!!!!!

Lovely pub with old styling. Friendly staff greet you and they were happy to accomodate our dog in the bar area. Went for a sunday roast. Service is decent but one member of our party was not happy with their main meal but the chef returned it, they do not respond well to complaints. Staff were still polite and friendly but we were essentially left to deal with what we were served. They are also very stingy with their veg portions. About a carrot and a half on a small serving plate with an equivalent portion of greens shared between four people. Odd choice to skimp on the veg but otherwise the meat and yorkshires were delicious. Prices are fair, would dine here again but definitely going to try other pubs in the area first.

Booked a table for lunch in the restaurant. The main menu looked quite extensive but the lunch menu was limited. We both chose the burger from the main menu. The chips were lovely but the meat in the beef burger was too dry and heavy. The bacon topping would have been nicer if it had been crispy so perhaps I should have asked for it to be cooked that way. The meal was filling and the service was good.

Have been visiting the pub for many years but never reviewed it. A great place to stop for a drink (they brew their own beers), for a quick grab or for a nice meal in their pub area or restaurant area. Their menu changes regularly (while they have a core pub menu), with special tasting events (dishes paired with wines). The field at the back of the pub is perfect for the kids to play football. Stopped in for something brunchy but had missed the breakfast menu. Luckily, you could have an all-day breakfast, which was absolutely delicious! The quality of the bacon and sausages was very good! The staff were very welcoming and the building is beautiful. It is an old building, so be aware that it is uneven floor in places, but I think that is part of the charm! Definitely will come again!

No need to choose between a pub and a coffee shop - this place does both! We arrived here after walking the dog from Wye on a freezing November day, and it was well worth the trek! The log fire was burning and we received a warm welcome. We had delicious home made soup for lunch. The cakes looked great so we’ll be back to sample them another day.
