I've been here a couple of times for special occasions and my partner decided to treat me to a nice lunch. They have a pretty reasonable lunch menu for £19.17 for 2 courses. It's quite a small menu but the food we chose was excellent. My partner had the bang bang chicken skewers and chicken in a white wine sauce. I had the mozzarella salad to start followed by the vegan curry. The food was pretty good, although some of the green beans in the curry were a little but hard. As it was Halloween I just had to try the scary pumpkin desert! It was huge actually so enough for 2 of us. It wasn't listed on the menu but I had seen it advertised on the website and they were more than happy to oblige me. Overall a really lovely meal, just a few little touches missing from when we had been previously, they didn't offer to hang our jackets and there was no white table cloth on the table just paper placemats. This didn't take away from our lovely experience but just little touches that set the Ivy apart from other restaurants. With the set menu and a couple of drinks and coffee with desert the bill came to around £80. Quite expensive for lunch but a nice treat. Top tip.... its so worth joining the executive club and down loading the app as you collect points and get money off and special offers.

Served last night by Cameron, exceptional service. Eating out with some food allergies is always stressful, feeling like you are playing ‘Russian Roulette’ that you can never quite settle to enjoy the meal, but Cameron and the kitchen team provided options and ensured me that care had been taken so that I could enjoy my food which was delicious!

We managed to get a table as a walk-up. If we had left it 15 minutes later, i doubt we would have got in as it became extremely busy. The service was swift and courteous but sadly, the food was vastly overpriced for what it was. None of the starters or mains had anything about them which made you think "that was very nice". Our side of thick cut chips never arrived even after requesting them. By the time we were advised they would be up soon we had already eaten our meals so said not to bother. They agreed to remove from the bill. However, when the bill arrived we had been charged not only for the chips but also from the main menu as opposed to the offers menu from which we ordered adding an additional £25 to the bill. When the bill was "corrected" it still contained the chips which never arrived and the discretionary 12% service which i had also requested be removed. Third time of asking the correct bill was presented. Overall, polite service but underwhelming food which was overpriced.

This was a great evening especially as it had begun badly when the restaurant we originally booked appeared deserted and closed down! Luckily The Ivy took us in and we had a great time. The restaurant was absolutely heaving so we were really lucky to get a table. The table was in a great location and we had a great view of the comings and goings and an appreciation of how lively the venue was. The food was superb- I had the chicken Milanese which was the best Milanese I have had- and I’ve had a few! My wife had the sea bass with shrimps which she also thoroughly enjoyed. For desert we shared an apple tart fine which was flambeyed in calvados at the table- again superb. The service and attention was second to none and considering the start to the evening- all I can say is we had a lucky escape and fell on our feet. Many thanks to The Ivy for rescuing us- albeit unknowingly. Great evening!

Amazing Wednesday night at the Ivy! Live jazz music set an incredible ambience. Something a bit different and sets the restaurant aside from the rest. Something a bit special, gorgeous bar, decor, staff are very welcoming. Treat yourself to a place which permanently makes you feel your on holiday and transports you somewhere else. Nick, was very hospitable, explaining the new live music happening once a month, Henry, paddie & karl always very hospitable & Accommodating. Nabin, our very knowledgeable bar tender who served us all night was fab, Oscar & Amy were also very friendly and made our night so rememberable! Cannot fault the food and service. Every dish was delicious and well presented. Waiters were attentive and adapted their style to the customer. However, tables are rammed in, several times waiters had to shoehorn themselves past chairs. Noise levels were high as a result. Felt crowded and not what you would expect from a more expensive venue. Greed?

Another great meal at the Ivy. Everything from the food, to the service, to the bathrooms, bar etc is all perfectly executed. Rather than ordering two mains we shared two starters and a main. It all came at the same time, and we had out little feast of different dishes. The scallops were absolutely stunning. Seared and almost raw in the middle. Very tasty. The duck salad was also gorgeous. The main was the house-burger. The flavours were spot on, but I would have liked the beef patty slightly less cooked. To finish the meal we retreated to the bar, where we had amazing espresso Martini's. Yum! We can't wait to come back...

We had a really nice lunch at The Ivy and it was a real treat. Starters were excellent I had squid and my fiancé had scallops both were delicious. I had lobster linguine for main this was nice but I just found it a bit watery and some lobster a little on tough side this might just be personal taste as it was nice just didn’t blow me away, fiancé loved his main though. Dessert was delicious (crème brûle). Service at times was a teeny bit slow but it was a big room for only two servers. Staff all extremely friendly and polite we will definitely come back.

As a family, we have always really enjoyed eating at The Ivy Winchester and have been frequent diners since its opening week in 2018; we have always had really good service and excellent food. However, on my birthday my daughter treated me to an Ivy breakfast, the food took a long time to arrive and when it did it was cold and had to be returned. The new breakfast was great apart from a very hard and brown avocado, which was inedible . The restaurant was very quiet for a Friday morning - only 3 tables occupied, so there was no excuse for the long wait times or the below standard food. Most annoyingly, my daughter was then charged for the complimentary birthday gesture that was brought to our table - this was not asked for and therefore should not have been charged for. Really poor experience Ivy Winchester. Needless to say, we won't be returning and the Ivy has lost us as regular customers.

Wow! What a dining experience. The restaurant is very unassuming from the outside but once you are through the door, you are immediately transported to a different time, what I imagine the glamorous bits of the 1920s and 1930s might have been like. The reception by two hosts is a lovely touch too. The food is really good, we had the squid and Marie Rose shrimp for starters and the sirloin and the lobster linguine. I really like the fact that there is a Sommelier who serves wine as it should be. Well worth a visit, you'll feel very pampered.

Our first visit to The ivy in Winchester. Decided to go, as we had an Amex Plat. dining credit. I do think there is some customer profiling , I might be wrong, but because we weren't regulars, we were placed at the front of the restaurant , in front of the windows. There was little atmosphere there, and when the sun came out, it was quite uncomfortable . I did notice that any walk ins were placed there as well. The service was impeccable , cannot fault the attention to detail, my starter of chicken skewers was lovely, the filet steak was quite tough, not what I expect for the price. The creme brûlée was the best I have had. Very good wine, and not over priced. Would go again, but would insist on sitting in the main area of the restaurant

19th May. Lunchtime. We sat outside at a corner table. A waitress approached with a tray containing drinks that no one anywhere near us had ordered. She tripped over our sleeping dog. The Aperol Spritzer and glass of rose smashed on the table and floor. Causing me and the dog to be sticky and soaked. The dog in serious danger of cut paws. She had to be moved to relative safety. The management dealt with the spillage and I mopped my clothes and dog with a napkin. My husband and I helped to collect broken glass. I declined drycleaning recompense as my trousers and blouse are washable. Though annoyingly I was away for a the weekend with limited outfits. Lovely food. 4 minutes agoI celebrated my birthday there on the 16th December and for me I didn't enjoy the atmosphere at the Ivys. First we were given a table very close to the entrance, next to the bar where we could hear all the noise. The staff didnt bother to ask if we are happy to seat in the table, whilst other staff showed to other guests other available tables ( which are more nicer and more quiet inside ). I have seen there were more better tables and chair whilst I went to the toilet which they are not marked as "reserved". Honestly, I am expecting nice treatment but it didnt happen. We felt rushed as the staff just seen this available table next to the bar hence she just easily asked us to sit in that table. For the starter, I have ordered prawns and squid which I found it very expensive for the price of £10 - I got only 2 pieces of tiny prawns and 4 smalls cuts of squid. I felt the staff were rushing whilst their cooking and serving, but they should take into consideration how much portion should be serve? My starter for me is not acceptable as they served very tiny amount. I was looking for the staff to speak about it but I couldnt find any available as staff seemed very busy. Next, onto my main- which I have ordered medium steak- and they served me medium rare which i didnt like it. Some of my chips are soggy, some were crunchy and slight burnt- and some were cold. It was like mix all together and been cooked for more than 30 minutes. Steak and chips should cook same time so when it serve they are both fresh and hot. In my case- it didnt happen. It ruined my birthday meal. Kitchen staff ahould have proper training on how to cook medium rare, medium, medium to well done kind of steaks as it seems they were rushing to cook and serve to guest. I asked the staff the change it which luckily they changed it to medium steak but the excitement of eating together with my husband was a disastrous as my husband need to stop eating his main just to wait for my steak to be served. The staff offered to give a new one for my husband so we can eat together once my medium steak is served but my husband already upset and didnt bother to ask a new one as the excitement of eating together already failed. Well atleast they served me my new medium steak with new chips which I am thanful for, but I totally lost my interest and excitement. Supposed to be we should enjoy and have a quiet birthday celebration- but it turned out a disasted one. We were planning to order a dessert but because of the this experience we didnt bother to order except for coffee. When I did my booking at open table website and I have written there that it is my birthday and I am requesting if possible to have a candle to blow which no one bother to give me before we paid the bills. I have been to many Ivy's resto such as in Cobham, London and Cardiff and always had a nice treatment and they gave me a sweet treat wth a candle to blow during my previous birthdays except for this one in Winchestee..I am totally upset and didnt enjoy the atmosphere. I dont mind charging us the service charge but with what we have experienced, I dont think its fair to charge us a service charge considering they served me a medium rare which i did not ordered. We have paid £ 100 for 2 starters and 2 mains with 2 cokes and for me it was way too expensive considering the small portion of starter they serve and we left still hungry

We had a table booked for 6.30pm - you have 90 minutes - they handed us our bill at this time.Scallops and duck starters were delicious and the two fillet steaks we had were cooked to perfection. Sides were good - truffle fries (tasted & looked like frozen catering chips) spinach and broccoli.Red wine sauce was just ok - watery and something of nothing really.Desserts were delicious - chocolate bomb and apple tart. With a bottle of Saint Emillion (£40) the bill came to £185 including a £20 service charge which is my pet hate. So we took that off and left our own gratuity. It’s expensive but it’s a treat with excellent service and beautiful surroundings.

The mains were fabulous, I had Shepherds Pie which was the best I have ever had and my husband had the Cod, which was delicious. I booked a table of 6 for 20:00hrs for my partners birthday. Normally you get 2 hour time slot which should be plenty of time, with the new 10pm closure time and slow service we felt rushed. We sat for an hour before getting our starters, normally this would be okay as we were all talking and time flew however when it takes an hour, the rest of the food was rushed and I felt I was eating my dessert whilst walking out the door at 10pm. The starter quality was great. We received our mains all at different times, they put cheese on a burger which wasn’t asked for. We waited 10 minutes for another burger but didn’t tell us, we had to ask where it was. I also had no side to my fillet steak so was cold by the time this came out. Paying £30 a steak you’d expect a high quality service. We had to order our dessert before our mains, these came out with 10 minutes to go before we had to leave. All very rushed which shouldn’t just be blamed on the new curfew. Slow service should be recognised here. We did receive a discount to the meal of £40.

The Scallops were succulent, the Onion Soup divine and the Tempura Prawns & Calamari rated ‘the star of the show’.We then opted for Chicken Milanese, Ivy Shepherds Pie and Hoisin Duck, very decadent Chocolate Bombe with Hot Salted Caramel Sauce and Rum Baba - my husband, who was a chef for a great many years, declared his Rum Baba the most authentic he had tasted since working as a pastry chef himself. It was delightful to see how the team worked as one with efficient but unobtrusive service and with every member of management working hard and not shying away from clearing tables and making sure they were sterilised. We left the Ivy a very happy and fulfilled family and cannot wait to return again and our sincere thanks go to all on duty.

We booked well in advance for this popular restaurant to celebrate two birthdays and a wedding anniversary and weren’t disappointed. From the efficient check-in to personal bottles of hand sanitizer on the tables, made us feel very safe. The restaurant was busy but the service was excellent with just the right amount of time between courses. The food was divine with melt in the mouth fillet steaks cooked to perfection. To top it all off we each received a complimentary celebration petit four. The quality of food and service was of course reflected in the bill but when everything is done to perfection it’s worth every penny for special celebrations.

We had a gift of afternoon tea which we used on Sunday afternoon. We arrived and had a cocktail at the bar first which was fabulous. We were then seated for afternoon tea, the waitress was great but when the food arrived it went downhill! It looked great but the sandwiches (or hard bread!) were tasteless. We were told the bread was dense but the cucumber one literally had no filling in at all. The beetroot slice had salmon which was a very faint taste. The chicken roll was overwhelmed with a garlic taste. That was it - 2 slices of bread and a roll each! The scones were good although the jam and cream ratio was poor! The tea arrived 20 mins before the food, and we were asked when we had finished if we wanted another cup of tea! We flagged the waitress to ask for more cream but I feel for £45 we should have been asked how it was well before we had finished. When we waved at another waitress for the bill she put her hand up to us- which made me very angry, was so rude. Had we realised she was busy we would have waited, she could have politely said one moment! She then snatched the voucher out of our hands when we wanted to pay (she was the brown haired waitress with glasses and not the polite blonde one). The overall experience was good, 2 cocktails were great but the afternoon tea was very very disappointing.

I do not appreciate having the bill shoved in front of my face at 9.30pm whilst I was eating my main course. I would have let this slide but was then interrupted again 5 minutes later with the card machine! Completely ruined my experience. Well our 1st visit was for an 80th, this one, our 4th to date was a 70thGood quality food, well prepared, laid out and served.Three of us headed for the Salmon, either straight or via the Set Menu (best value, of course). One opted for Hamburger with Cheddar Cheese. All good. The Truffle Mash to accompany the Salmon was delightful. All the ladies went for the Chocolate Bombe, which is, still a great party piece.I opted for an excellent Cheeseboard (Set Menu again). We headed back to the Birthday Girl's for coffees. So once again a memorable occasion. Only downside the noise. NOT a venue for a romantic tete a tete. We will return. Hayling Seagoon

A small group us (within COVID restrictions) went out celebrate a birthday here. The building and decor ooze class and sophistication and you feel you are in a POSH establishment where only the best will do.This sentiment is further supported when you open the menu and see the prices, I'm not complaining about the prices - provided you actually get the quality you paid for. The Ivy is at the very top end of our dining experiences with regards to price. We were fortunate enough to have Lewis as our server. I think is is fair to say that Lewis has been the BEST server we have ever encountered. He was great.Polite, attentive - but not overly present, flirtatious with the girls making them feel that extra little bit special - without being creepy - a very fine art perfectly executed - well done Lewis!Lewis is a major asset to the Ivy, without him, our experience would have struggled to get one star. The foodWe went for a few sharing appetisers and I can conclude they tasted fabulous and were good value for money. We skipped the starters and went in for the main courses. My choice was the lobster linguine at just under £30.When it arrived it looked tiny compared to the other dishes, but it filled me perfectly. My concern with my dish is three fold. The first is I'm not convinced it was a lobster. I'm a UK spearfisherman and not only do I know what lobster looks like but also the minimum size it has to be to legally land it. The claw meat (that was in the shape of the claw and there were two of them - so it wan not half a lobster served to me), was neither the shape nor size of a UK wild lobster. It was not the shape of a farmed lobster (that would allow it to be considerably smaller) it was more like the shape of a langoustine. The second issue I had was I was kindly provided with a spoon and fork for my dish and promptly discovered I needed a knife to cut the "lobster". It was like a piece of rubber.Lobster does not need long to cook so to have it as over cooked as this really took some effort. The linguine was "over" too, not "al dente" by any stretch, but fat and limp as pasta looks after it is had a night in the fidge - I'm not convinced my meal was "freshly cooked" despite it being only a pasta dish. The next disappointment was the "tomato and chilli sauce" the menu stated "Tomato and chilli sauce with San Marzanino tomatoes, parsley and spring onion" but what arrived was a tomato, parsely and spring onion sauce with a side dish of dried chilli flakes and a bottle of chilli oil.I appreciate it can be a bit "hit and miss" getting the temperature of a chilli dish just right for everyone, but to cop out totally and give up even setting a base heat is a pretty poor show.Considering the price and the woefully poor cooking skills of such a simple dish I was left more than disappointed. On a brighter note, the "minute steaks at £16 were fab AND came with sides - reasonable value for money. The chargrilled halloumi was also acceptable but the rib eye was tough as was the fillet steak. My wife was also very disappointed with the "peas, sugar snaps and baby shoots" that appeared to be frozen peas and a few sugar snaps with a tiny sprinkling of baby shoots - not great value for money a basic side. All in all, the Ivy Winchester does not provide good value for money, they are charging top end prices for food, yet they are clearly unable to deliver a top end product. The service and ambiance were superb they were just let down by the chef

Excellent menu choice at very reasonable cost. We will definitely be back in the near future. The only irritation was my first choice drink was out of stock so I chose a Glemorange instead. I did this without realising they charge £26 for a single shot! (A bottle is advertised at £120 on the internet and this means 30 shots returns them around £780. Is that a fair?) Over 600% mark up.

We were left standing outside waiting for 11.30 precisely and potentially putting ourselves at risk by people congregating. Suggest they allow people in from 11.15 for the 11.30 sitting. We were informed during the online booking procedure that the booking duration was 90 minutes. We had to ask for the set menu as it was not presented to us. My steak main course was ok but nothing to write home about. My wife’s main course, lamb ragout was bland and disappointing. The choices on the set menu were very limited. The service was as good as ever. The desert was nice! The Covid precautions, other than having to wait to get in, were very professional.

The Ivy can sound all fancy and pretentious but is brilliant value for money - not much more than I’d spend in another restaurant and well worth it for the brilliant quality. We took advantage of a gift voucher and booked an early table, we arrived 8 minutes late and were informed only then of their late arrival policy. Although our table had not been given away they made us wait in the small cloakroom cupboard area opposite the reception desk for 5 minutes as a punishment, very odd attitude indeed. That said the rest of the staff were friendly, helpful and polite, so the service was excellent. The venue is lovely and a good atmosphere. Food was average no complaints really but we were not wowed in any way. Top tip for Ivy - make your late arrival policy better known, increase to 10 minutes and educate your greeter on how to treat your customers

We dined here for dinner whilst staying in Winchester. I have eaten at a few of the London Ivy’s, quite a few times, but my boyfriend had not, so was excited to try it!They lady who greeted us was very friendly and warm, unfortunately our server was not. He was most awkward when taking our order and made no friendly chit chat, which he did with some other tables. The food was nice enough, service was quick but overall not as great as the London branches. It just didn’t seem as special as the others.

We finally managed to get to use a £100 voucher that was given to us as a thank you gift. Booked a table for 19.30 Saturday evening ( over the phone) Set off to drive the 10 miles to Winchester in good time really looking forward to the evening as we don't usually go to Winchester for evenings out Annoyingly SAT NAV took us all through the back streets, in search for a car park, found one & then walked from Jewry St to "The Ivy ". When booking in on the door we were informed by the arrogant "Meeter & greeter" that they only hold the table for 5 mins form the booking time & as we were 6 mins late our table had been given away ! We were amazed - spent last weekend in London , and eat in the top restaurants there , NOBU , 34 Mayfair , Cut , Hakassan etc , never to have been treated so badly! I explained that n- one had informed me on the phone the day before about their policy, or texted me on the mobile number I gave to enquire if we were on our way . Husband understandably livid asked to see the Manager - and what a delight he was !!!! Mr Barnaby Harris was even more obnoxious & arrogant than his employee. No attempt to find us a table or resolve the issue . He just sneered at us "hope you have a nice evening." How can they have filled out table 1 minute after the cut off time, absolutely no point in booking a table. Have read other reviews and see that they are just as rude if you are early. We will not use the voucher - dont care about the £100, I would not set foot in there again .f customer service . (And by the way Mr Harris we did have a lovely evening in "Banks " Bistro, Bishops Waltham, Hants. They really know how to do customer service, not relying on dressing up in trendy suits & bow ties etc & looking down on customers)

Here's a thing - aside from the tedious Covid formalities at the entrance (necessary - yes, tedious - for all concerned - also) this was a masterclass in how to treat a customer. We felt welcomed. And valued. And wanted. By every member of staff we had the pleasure to deal with. And our visit was pure self indiulgence as we had already lunched but there was room for sweet - and the Ivy does afternoon coffee and sweets rather well indeed. In fact my sundae was of such volume (and equal tastiness) that dinner was nearly foreclosed. Great coffee / cappucino too and well the service of such quality that a service charge is an obligation not a questionable chore. Wonderful!

When I suggested to the server if the prices had gone up she said I think so. Seemed to me that The Ivy was taking advantage of the eat out to help out scheme but with friends and not wishing to make a fuss I said nothing more. Afterwards I contacted them and was advised that the £21 menu as displayed outside was available and I quote'the normal £21 set menu is provided if the guests requests it at the table as per the company policy' Its like you can have the discount but we are going to charge you more for the privilege. We went to the Ivy in the hope of having a good evening. The welcome was good and our table was ready early. Once at the table the lighting was so poor that you couldn’t read the menu so we used our phone torches to read it. The portions were not great, in particular the Shepherds Pie was tiny and the fish and chips had two pieces of fish in batter which was mostly batter. When ordering sweets we asked if the strawberry Ice Cream Sundae had cream with it and we were told that it didn’t but it came with cream. The person who ordered it doesn’t like cream so that was not good. Finally on leaving another of our party went to get his umbrella back from the cloakroom and found that they had given it to someone else even though it was tagged to our table. All in all not good value for money and not good service. Hopefully the umbrella looks like it will be returned .

It's a shame because the place itself is lovely, the staff are welcoming but we were not asked how our main food was, i couldn't eat it all but tried and mentioned it to the waitress when she cleared the table. It was obvious to the staff i was not eating it so either they were too busy to be bothered or ignoring the fact! When i did mention it the waitress informed me the manager had a word with the kitchen, but it really should come off the menu.
