Nice pub with a great beer garden.

Went to The Barleycorn for a pre booked lunch with work colleagues. Food was absolutely fantastic and excellent value. Staff very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely lunch 😊

Staff and other patrons were very nice. Food was big portions and they were happy to change our order to suit. Landlord was fantastic withy granddaughter, all in all a fantastic pub, loved the massive Ploughman's lunch.

Would not recommend drinking or eating in this pub. Landlord/manager very bad mannered attitude towards customers and staff. He had a dirty fifthly appearance. I will be informing Green King. Also, my glass was filthy, and so was the bar area.

The best Lamb shank I have ever eaten, gravy lovely, creamy mash, excellent veg cooked to perfection. Service spot on, very attentive, but not pushy. Recommended will be back!

Having seen recent pictures of the Sunday roasts, we decided to give them a try. On arrival, we were greeted and seated straight away. Food took a little while, but there were 7 of us, and for the standard of food, it was well worth the wait. 4 adults and 3 children, not one complaint from anyone in our party. All staff members we encountered were very helpful, and even though the pub restaurant was getting busy, we never felt rushed to finish. 5 stars all around.

Probably the best roast I’ve had whilst out! We took my in-laws here based on reviews & I would recommend anyone does the same. The food is plentiful & is cooked to perfection even the roasties!! I had the nut roast which was delicious & the others had lamb (x2) & turkey. Everyone loved their food. Staff were lovely & atmosphere was warm & friendly. Will definitely be back!

Visited as a family as well as our dog. We didn't eat anything exotic, just the Mac n Cheese, however we all agreed that it's the best Mac n Cheese we've had for a long time. Allowing dogs inside certainly made the decision easier to visit.

Came as a reserved table for 12, everyone was happy with the food. Nut roast was amazing. Service was friendly nothing felt too much trouble. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Have already recommended to people. Thank you for a great meal.

11 of us for lunch today, 10 of us had roasts, which were large and served with lots of gravy, Yorkshire pud, cauliflower cheese and lots and lots of great veg. Big choice of 4 roasts too, we covered all 4 bases. All well priced, we paid £20 a person with drinks each. We found the staff really helpful, definitely recommend.

My family and I had lunch for my birthday at this wonderful little place today. From the warm welcome we received upon arrival to the very attentive and friendly service, alongside the outstanding food,all I can say is wow what a find , looking forward to a return visit very soon Made my birthday a very enjoyable day, thank you. My daughter in-law is dairy free and they were so accommodating.

We had a fantastic meal - two of us had a lamb special and the other a pub classic of gammon, egg and chips. Brilliant food and service. Will definitely be back!

Awful pub, manager / owner, when hea appears, is rude and ignores everyone, including own staff. If you are an ale drinker don't waste your time go straight to the Crown across the road, there is only one available, Timothy Taylor, but tastes nothing like it should, invariably tastes stale, probably because all discerning ale customers now drink elsewhere.

Absolutely stunning Sunday roast, almost the best I've had. The service was very friendly and a lovely large portion, just like I like it. Thank you 👍

Nice little bike night thursdays, decent "locals" pub had made an effort, we didn't have anything having already eaten but food looked alright, basket meals only £6.50, can't go wrong

We visited the Barleycorn inn again last Sunday. It was hot so we just wanted something light. We both had the tempura prawns with 2 beers They came with an unexpected side salad Really good and so was the service My wife admired the giant poppies and said she had to photograph them! Very relaxing lunch in the garden.

First time there. Lovely pub and the ploughman's was great. Waitress only just started there but very friendly.

We had Sunday lunch at the Barleycorn Inn last week My wife choose the pork which came with a good selection of properly cooked vegetables. Her complaint was 'its too much!' She took a doggie bag home. I had the chicken which also came with the vegetables An open fire and friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

We’ve just had a wonderful Christmas family meal for 13 of us. The food was absolutely fantastic, much better than other more expensive Christmas meals I’ve had this month in local restaurants. Well done to all of the lovely, helpful staff . Definitely coming back 👍🏻🥳🤶🏻

First visit to this pub during a trip to see the nearby palace ruins. Friendly welcome upon entry with pleasant staff and a welcoming log fire on a chilly day. Pretty standard menu of reasonably priced pub classics with a couple of specials on the blackboard. Attentive service from the cheerful waiting and bar staff. Food was served quickly and was very tasty with generous portions. If you're after a good honest pub serving well cooked food with cheerful staff then this is the place to go!

The food was very good from a basic menu. The chef did extremely well on her own, The outside was fairly busy, inside very quiet. The lady behind the bar was runoff her feet taking orders for drink and food , serving it outside and inside and clearing up, The Manager appeared at the end of service to clear a few things away! You must ask your wine/drinks prices up front THERE ARE NO VISIBLE PRICES. Don’t be too proud to ask if it’s not displayed. I asked for Prosecco and was told I could only have it by the bottle. I have been a regular customer with Greene King and Chef and Brewer for many years and was very dismayed to be charged £28! I asked the manager and he said he bought it in from Greene King for £18 a bottle and the Crown at Bishops Waltham charges £32 a bottle, Greene King : the only Prosecco he had was Mionetto it retails at a max price £11

Had two very good meals there previously but whent in with are family and drinks arrived in dirty glasses put us of eating a meal staff extremely nice but manager confronted are daughter when we were leaving getting to close and aggressive we paid for three out of the five drinks we were given lucky my son-in-law is a big chap and put him in his place.terribly upset my daughter. I would give 5 stars to the young girl that was serving us.

What an amazing Sunday roast. We had a child's portion and we couldn't eat it all. Good value for money and cooked fresh absolutely lovely and all staff are so polite and welcoming.

Alcoholic drinks are to expensive now can get it a lot cheaper with in a mile of this pub. Sorry i shall not be using this pub as much as i would like dew to the vast increase in price

Had a lovely dinner at the Barleycorn Inn with my family! Service was impeccable (a big shoutout to Alicia), food was delicious, and the ambience cozy and snug. Highly recommended!

Beer garden is nice to sit in on a sunny weekend. Food is tasty and portion sizes are good. Prices are on the higher side but no different to similar pubs.

My daughter took me to the Barleycorn for a birthday lunch on Bank Holiday Monday. Luckily we booked a table as by 1pm it was filling up. The staff were very friendly. The coffee was amazing and served in huge china cups in a saucer and mint on the side. As vegetarians we ordered the macaroni cheese with salad and garlic bread. It was delicious. Having not eaten here before we were unsure of portion size so also ordered a side of chips and a side of onion rings. Oh my. The portions are enormous and unfortunately we couldn't finish everything which was a shame as it was all lovely. It was very tasty and hot. The salad had a tangy dressing which was also very tasty. Would definitely recommend and hopefully will revisit for another meal.

Another great meal at the Barleycorn. 4 kids and 4 adults. Such friendly staff couldn’t do enough for us. Good was absolutely delicious. Best roast dinner around. Live music which was a bonus. Had a fab afternoon will definitely be back soon!!

Spontaneous visit for mid week lunch. In the past have really enjoyed jacket potato with chilli but opted for gammon egg and chips which also came with peas and onion rings. Very generous portions and very tasty. The chips were excellent. So often chips are reheated over cooked etc but these were lovely. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We shall definitely be returning.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and memorably delicious Sunday roast! Flavoursome meet, perfectly cooked veg and a fantastic gravy (that happens to be gluten free). Dog friendly. We try to pop in every time when we are in the area!

Been decorating so decided to go for meal Sunday, popped into barley corn ,had not booked like we usually do ,very busy but sqeezed us in ,the food as per usual was excellent and so much of it. Staff 10/10 again thank you

This venue has undergone a complete change of management and staff, but retains it's village, local, reputation. The food here, prepared and cooked by Simon (Sybil), is absolutely astonishing. The portions are huge and the taste, superb. My only gripe is the constant problem they have with their 1664 pump? Great atmosphere, great garden with play area and good parking. Highly recommended.

Went into this lovely Pub, where there was alot of locals enjoying a pint at the bar next to a gorgeous Log fire. Most of the tables where Reserved so its clearly a popular choice for a SUNDAY Roast.. The food did not disappoint. My Dad had the FISH AND CHIPS (fish so big it was almost hangging off the plate.) Lovely color Batter (new oil in fryers, good sign!) I decided to have All 3x Starters as I like a picky dinner..... The Pate was very yummy and plenty of it. I actually shared it with my mum. The Soup Carrot & Coriander with warm Baguette was HOME MADE and then the prawn cocktail also very tasty with zingy sauce which also had warm baghette.. Its so nice to have enough butter thats NOT ROCK SOLID! THEN Mum had the Half Roast Chicken that came out on a long plate. Seperate Vegetables and Cauliflower cheese. Large yorkie, roast pots and Parsnips. Sooo much food we dicided to take some home for our Dogs evening meal as not to waste a morsel because it was all Sooo good. Presentation was spot on Atmosphere lively, but homely And the staff and managers where very hospitable. We shall definitely be back. Its also lovely that our dog Brecon was welcomed in too. Quirky and warm pub with friendly staff. Unfortunately they didn't have any real ales on offer which is surprising as it's a Greene King pub

Me and my partner came down on a Friday evening after make a table reservation, the food was fantastic! Lots of flavour and the portions were so big! - the manager was extremely welcoming and made us feel at home. We also met the landlord who along with the staff were so lovely! Such a welcoming atmosphere! Would highly recommend to anyone!

Everywhere seemed to be booked up early afternoon, came across this gem. Lovely feel inside, friendly landlord. Staff were second to none. Impeccable service throughout our meal from two ladies and nothing was too much trouble. Was blown away with roast dinner. Simply perfect and from now on we will come here again and again. X

We always drop into this Inn for a meal before an evening meeting. The staff are very friendly and the pies are fantastic so always have a top meal.

Lovely afternoon in The Barleycorn. Great staff, fantastic service and exceptional food. We had the Chicken roast with a variety of veg and extra gravy provided without having to ask. The homemade mushroom stroganoff was also an excellent choice and bloody delicious. Great work guys, highly recommend to anyone!

Visited today for the first time. The staff are friendly and we sat opposite the lovely cosy log fire. The pub is very nice inside. We will visit again. My husband enjoyed his drink but I’m afraid my latte was just Luke warm over milky with no coffee taste. I therefore left it. I was desperate for a very hot drink after our walk.

Christmas booking for 8 cooks! Service was very good and the food delicious. Very large portions. Would recommend the roast turkey.

Getting better....will keep coming Staff are obviously conscious of building reputation back up.... but not sure you need to be asked if everything is OK 3-4 times during meal.... Just an observation from a fellow professional hospitality manager

Absolutely fantastic Christmas meal out with friends. We had the Christmas menu and everything was delicious and came piping hot, the portions were very generous too. The staff were all attentive and friendly. All in all a fantastic night out. Will definitely be coming back!

Our working group from a local church have lunch out a couple of times a year & always book a table here. Due to the pandemic this was the first time since 2019 we’d met up for lunch. The menu is much less varied than...

Unfortunately not the best meal. Had mushroom with beef stroganoff but it came without the sauce. Dare say it may have been good with sauce plus I could see the beef pink without the sauce. If ya having a bad chef dont shout it out repeatedly so guests can hear it. Staff were nice and friendly.

Staff are friendly, efficient and polite. The food was amazing. We all had the steak and red wine pie (one of the specials) which was delicious. Would even say it was the best one I’ve ever had. Tasted fresh and home made. Would definitely recommend!!

Proper straightforward tasty Sunday roasts for most of us….. very tasty and very generous helpings… piping hot and plenty of gravy. Choice of sweets and coffees to finish off. Very good value for money, strongly recommend, booking essential. We’ll be back…. for the crumble and custard 👍👏👌😊.

We popped in for quick lunch,both had baguettes which were lovely and made fresh,my tomato soup was to die for really stunning ! Unfortunately we had our 6 mnth Choc labrador with us who wasn' ton best behaviour causing us to cut our lunch short...

Had a terrible experience at this pub. Only part of the food order was brought out (2 of the 4 child meals). Two of the waitresses said it would be on its way, the landlord then accused us of not ordering them. The food finally...

Best steak ever ! Food is fantastic! You lot moaning about renovations , money doesn't grow on trees ! Staff were great, food was astounding ! Fast service .we will definitely be going back again.
