Visited a few weeks ago on a Sunday. Quite a boring pub in fairness, not much of an atmosphere was pretty cold in the bar area, and the drinks were average. Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat, but the restaurant was fairly busy. It was more of an eating place, I imagine, as one drink was enough and had no desire to stay for another.

Have visited this pub many times and the food has always been good, but today I was so dreadfully disappointed. We arrived early as we know they are not very accommodating to you even if you arrive 10 minutes before end of service, and the pub was very quiet. Two girls were on, one who we have seen many times and is always lovely and professional, but the other was clearly ill and coughing all over the place. I heard a table near me ask her to move away from them as they paid the bill it was that bad. We ordered the gnocchi, something I normally really enjoy and order a lot when I eat out and also cook at home so I know how it should be served. This was not good at all, it came dry and bland, no seasoning, cold and tasteless. The girls did not come back to our table to ask how our food was as they could see we had left it so I think each was hoping the other would deal with us. In the end we had to make our way over to the counter to pay and I politely said to the coughing girl that could I offer some feedback which she accepted and said she would mention to the chef, no offer of a discount even though we had not eaten either meal and still charged us full price and seemed unconcerned that we had received below parr food. That was bad enough but when I came on to write this review I see that others have also had the same experience of this dish? Clearly the chef feels the customer is wrong and he/she is right. This dish is all fluff and no substance, should take it off the menu or you’re gonna get more complaints!

We have been to the Robin Hood many times but since having to go Gluten Free I have been disappointed with the options here. Arrived on a Sunday with family and was presented with a small gluten free offering. I questioned the Sunday roast as it says "without Yorkshire pudding and gravy" to figure out whether that also means without gravy. It does (i.e their gravy contains gluten), but they said they'd serve it with the juice from the meat. I opted for the ribs instead which were nice but not really what I wanted. Other members of our party enjoyed their food Unfortunately I can't see us visiting again any time soon due to the lack of options for me. This is a shame for us as we're local and have been a lot over the years

We picked this as a special occasion. We arrived and were seated at a table for 4 with 5 places. We had to take a chair from another table. Our drinks order was taken swiftly and we waited a few minutes for our food order to be taken. The food eventually arrived, it was not very hot. The food was OK, the portions were not great and the gnocchi lacked flavour and was loaded with mushrooms. We waited ages for our plates to be cleared and decided to order dessert bit after 15 minutes, no one had returned to take our order. When they did come back, we requested the bill instead. I went to the bar to pay and was told I needed to wait for someone as the front of house was very busy on an iPad. I paid our bill and left. I don't think I'll return, which is a shame, as I had heard really good things about The Robin Hood. The front of house management is poor and the service is non attentive. Sorry 😞

We were put into a side room (or so it seemed to us) with poor acoustics. Not helped by a very loud trio of other diners who arrived shortly after us. We seemed to have been forgotten so had to go to the bar to order. We had a goats cheese ciabatta and steak pie which were fine. But we didn't stay for dessert. The food might have merited 4 stars but the rest didn’t. A pity because we've always been satisfied in the past.

Visited ona Wednesday night. Food was very good. The Pork Belly was exceptional although needed a little extra veg. The ribs were very tender and fell off the r bone and fish and chips decent. Puddings all tasty too. What let he place down was there were only 2 waiting staff on duty who were unable to cope with the tables. Not good when you have to hunt a waitress down to try and order a pudding. Not thier fault, I would say poor management, needed more staff for the amount of diners, especially as the tables all seemed reserved.

A local favourite situated in Durley, has a decent amount of parking spaces with quite a few suitable for electric car charging. Also big bonus on a lovely warm spring day a large pub garden. The staff here are excellent and in all the years I've come here I've never had any trouble finding a table even if they are fully booked they will find a way. Today a simple lunch in the sun, I had the chicken and bacon club ciabatta that was served with slaw and fries. Wife had a coronation chicken in a malted bloomer served with crisps and slaw with an additional side of fries. The meal came out quickly and freshly prepared and all tasted as expected, the ciabatta was crisp and generously filled with the chicken and bacon, the coronation chicken was creamy, sweet with a hint of spice, the slaw had a good crunch, fries were hot, crispy and lightly salted. Lovely meal, lovely pub great location and excellent staff and landlord. Nothing to complain about except maybe if my appetite was slightly larger the mains looked very good.

A very underwhelming experience on what should have been an enjoyable lunch. Although in a lovely spot in the countryside of Durley and with nice decor, the service and food where definitely not worth the effort or price. Although the staff were friendly enough the service seemed stale and we had to go up to the bar twice to request service as we were told on entry that it was table service, and we were sat directly opposite the bar! We ordered a mixture of meals but the most disappointing was the lunch options with the ploughman's charging £15 each for two very small slices of dry bread, butter too hard to spread, one slice of ham and cheese with the rest being a mixture of salads and veg. The other sandwiches served were tough in the ciabatta and fillings dry. Drinks were pricey also and with the service charge of 20% added came to over £120 for 6 people. It was a birthday lunch and we requested for a cake to be brought out but after 20 mins of waiting and again asking twice for it we gave up, paid the bill and left very disappointed. Now that may not seem like much for some but a pub restaurant that whacks on a 20% service charge should be doing a lot better in my opinion. There were plenty of staff working who didn't seem to be in much urgency with ample time for conversation. Having worked for greeneking in my early 20's the standards are poor and in need of improvement. We will not return.

I had booked a table for lunch at this popular gastropub. Even though it was a midweek day in late January, the large car park was almost full and every table was either occupied or reserved - so glad I booked. Service was both efficient and personable. The purpose of our meal was to take my elderly father out to lunch - he’d last visited the venue at least 30 years ago. We found the meals we ordered to be of a very high quality indeed - artfully presented and cooked perfectly. Even though the restaurant was so busy, the wait time was perfectly acceptable to allow for the kitchen staff to work their magic. The pork belly was moist and tender, the steak prepared just to my father’s choice and the steak and ale pie was also enjoyed by my wife - no mean feat as she’s hard to please! The desserts were imaginative, with a mocha cheesecake and blackberry creme brûlées completing a fine meal. We all enjoyed some banter about the meal with the staff and we were glad that we could enjoy conversation across the table without having to raise our voices - the music and chatter from other tables was at a very comfortable level. A very enjoyable lunch - well priced considering the quality of the meal.

Well what a delightful evening that was indeed, booked a table to meet with some old work colleagues as we had visited in the summer and wanted to go back for the winter menu. Pub is warm and cosy with very nice Christmas decorations out. Music in the background but not so loud you can’t hear your friends speak. Ordered the ribs (didn’t have starter as I wanted pudding) and they were simply perfect. Meat tender, lots of it too, lovely sauce in a pot to make them even more moist. Large bowl of chips came with them too. Pudding - god tier. Had the chocolate brownie and added salted caramel ice cream. It was simply amazing. Very disappointed. Went as thought it was going to be a lovely Sunday roast. When I booked I was told earliest table was at 3. I agreed to this said we were coming for a roast dinner. When we arrived they only had one roast dinner left. I had to have something else and chose steak and ale pie but was told I could have roast trimmings with it. They couldn’t even do that although the next table who arrived after us was served a roast! My pie was soggy and the filling salty my partner ate most of it as I did not enjoy it! I told the waitress and the owner/manager I didn’t enjoy the pie but was never offered anything else. The least they could have done was offered a drink or a coffee but no they didn’t really care to be honest. The young girl who served us was lovely but she was just a youngster and obviously had no influence in anything. We go out every Sunday but we won’t be back to the Robin Hood!

What a lovely pub with a great atmosphere and extremely friendly, helpful, attentive staff. I emailed the pub to check they were doggy friendly and received a message back within 30 minutes so booked via email. When we arrived the pub was fairly busy, a good sign on a dismal Monday night. We were seated immediately and had a drink within minutes. Our food order was taken 5 minutes later and arrived promptly. We are asked if all was ok with the food a few minutes later and then left alone to enjoy our evening. The menu was good, lots to choose from and whilst the higher end of pub pricing, the food certainly delivered. The portions were generous, far more than we could eat, however, we gave it a good go as the Dauphinoise was one of the best I've had. It was lovely to be able to enjoy a lovely meal while being able to take the dog with us, we noted that there was an area for those with dogs and another area for those without. We're lucky enough to be just within walking distance of the pub so I expect it will be a regular, "dog walk", once the nights become a bit lighter and certainly a good alternative to walking into Bishops Waltham. Thanks for a lovely evening! We had a main each and a couple of drinks each and the bill was £60.

Disappointing! My first and only visit as I can’t see us going back. £19 for literally a slice of Belly Pork, a slice of Dauphinois, a spoon of apple sauce, a drizzle of jus and 2 small tasteless black pudding balls, all were lacking in seasoning and not one whisper of a vegetable in sight - so £3 extra for hard green beans, a floret of broccoli and 3 slices of carrot. Unless you’re a local and have familiar faces to chat to, this pub is severely lacking in atmosphere and bonhomie - what a soulless place on Christmas Eve!

Have not been back to the Robin Hood for over a year, and once again excellent food with friendly and efficient service. We have never had a bad meal there and look forward to our next visit

Very nice pub, good food, friendly staff. Very nice garden and patio area plus lots of dog bowls and an outside tap for them. Very relaxing atmosphere

We moved near this pub/restaurant and decided to try out an evening meal. The place itself is very nice. Service was not the best we've had by far, they seemed short staffed, Our main courses were very tasty and hot but our desserts were not...

We really enjoyed our family meal here, everyone enjoyed their food and service was excellent. We ate outdoors in the garden which was lovely. Team working there were very friendly and helpful, thanks!

A variable meal. Some wonderful main courses, some lacking in content with too much pastry and an underwhelming cheese board.

Once every blue moon, and depending upon work schedules, my wife and I are able to meet up for a mid week lunch. Earlier today, we tried the Robin Hood for the first time. The food was out of this world. My wife had the...

Wow. Lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Food was absolutely delicious. Desserts amazing. Could not fault the food. Staff attentive. Very pricey though for a pub.

There is a difference between being attentive and annoying. The manageress/hostess every 10 minutes kept butting in with’ can I get anyone any more drink. Completely ignored us saying no, spoke over us, listing every drink available including Ovaltine! Food was mediocre. It was a...

Great food and great service - pub was really busy for Sunday lunch but service was really quick. I messed up and forgot to say that we had a dog but they were really accommodating. Really good variety of food cooked beautifully and big positions....

A little gem of a place. A menu with tradititional favourites but also a good mix of non traditional and seasonal specials. The food and staff were excellent, with a friendly social atmosphere. No blaring music so conversation was easy.

Nice tradition pub, great service and good food, but doesn't offer from what I can see any plant based food, which I would have liked.

We went as a family of 4 for Sunday Lunch, 2 Adults and 2 children under the age of 12. The children had what they described as the 'best burgers they've eaten' and both cleared their plates, followed by Chocolate Brownies. We both chose the Roast, I had Roast Beef and my husband had the trio (Beef/Lamb/Pork) with side dish of Pigs in Blankets and Cauliflower Cheese! The food all came out hot and freshly cooked. The side vegetables were perfectly cooked. I have an allergy to Rapeseed Oil and it was so nice to be able to eat in a establishment that doesn't use it! The staff are friendly and attentive. Hands down the best Roast Dinner I've eaten other than my own. Added bonus is they have a Dog friendly area inside. Remember to bring a healthy appetite!
