Stopped here for lunch after a change of plans, gladly found a dedicated gluten free menu! Needed to sit out side due too lack of space in the pub, but garden was very pleasant, Food was was very good and portions generous

Lovely place. Food is always tasty, selection of local beer on tap. Friendly service. Possibly the least pretentious pub in Hampshire. Bike friendly. 2024 update: still brilliant.

It's not in the middle of nowhere. It's on the edge of somewhere. Proper country pub with an ever-changing selection of real ales and ciders, and great food. (The kitchen is currently closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays,but this may have changed by the time you are reading this, so it's worth giving them a call to check.) Massive garden for the summer months and proper log fires for the winter. This is a mobile phone free zone... If your phone or tablet makes a noise, or if you make a call indoors, there's a fine to pay to charity - it's one of the dwindling number of pubs where conversation still rules. That's not to say you can't use your devices there - they even have WiFi - just keep them on silent. They have a selection of board games to play if that takes your fancy too. Very much dog friendly and located in the middle of prime walking, cycling and horse riding country. Stunning sunsets. A fantastic pub.

An archtypical country pub not far from Winchester. The food was excellent both in quantity and qualitySmall portions available for some dishes which suited by wife and her friend. I had a bacon chop with colcannon mash and cauliflower cheese, which was unusual, but very tasty, in fact I think the Cauliflower cheese was the best I'vr ever had! Service was prompt given that the food wash freshly cooked. Prices reasonable especially given the quality. We will definitely return next time we're in the area

Group of 8 of us for a Sunday Lunch. Friendly staff and dog friendly. Children have a outdoor play area. The Yorkshire puddings are the best. Food is very nice. Will return.

Really good country pub. Good service by friendly staff and a great roast dinner with possibly the best Yorkshire pudding I've ever had! Also dog friendly garden and a veggie option on the roast A few weeks later and I've just had the fish and chips Best bit of battered fish I've had for a long time, delicious! Still a great country pub, good service and great views 😁 Just been back again with a group of 8 All the food came out together and perfectly cooked by happy and helpful staff Still love this place 🌟

The Bowman is a traditional pub with a great array of real ales and cider. Also has alcohol free beers for those who wish to drive. The food is always of high quality and cooked spot on! There is special's blackboard for some very tasty different dishes. Due to popularity there can be a wait at times. Well behaved pooches are welcome! It can get busy at times , booking a table in advance is recommended if wishing to eat inside. The garden is extensive, with a play area for children. Staff very helpful and patient. The ONLY very little thing is that it is a little out of the way down small country lanes .But well worth the effort! .

Take a doggy bag or share if you order the ploughmans !

There’s nothing to fault here! Traditional, family-friendly pub serving excellent, classic pub food. Lots of games available to play, a lovely fire and a play area in the garden. If you want pretentious food or to sit on your mobile, this isn’t the place for you!

My two brothers and I have gone out for lunch with our elderly father to a number of pubs in and around Bishops Waltham over the past two years and The Hampshire Bowman wins for ‘best’ on all fronts - best selection of beers and ciders, quality and value of food, atmosphere, location, service and price

This is a 5 star pub. The garden is lovely in the summer, they grow some of their own vegetables and herbs which they use in the cooking. The food is absolutely amazing, the Sunday dinner is excellent and very filling. The main menu food is also great and very good value for money. The staff are always friendly and helpful. What I also like about the pub is no mobiles phones in the public bar, so people do tend to chat to each other rather than being on their phones. Would recommend a visit and something to eat, you won't be disappointed.

Lovely varied menu plus specials. Lovely staff and a great place to walk to from Bishops Waltham across the fields. The fish pie and the Moroccan chickpea dish were really excellent.

Great range of beers, ciders etc. Good quality simple pub food. Lovely setting and good garden in summer. Never disappoints.

We had the bread and dips board to start. A large board of warm, fresh bread and delicious dips, plus a whole jar of olives and some dolmades. Excellent. Then mains of ham, eggs and chips, the burger and a lamb shank. All delicious and plentiful portions. The lamb shank had a great amount of meat on it. Service great. Setting great. Just a fabulous place!

A great pub doing great things. I love this place as it's back to traditional pub vibes. No phones inside,which is great as it encourages everyone to talk to each other and socialise. Isn't that what you go to a pub to do!?! The outside seating area is huge! Plenty of pace for your furry friend to chill and the kids to run around. Also a little play area. Very dog friendly and has a little car park. We normally cycle here, but have also seen people arriving on horses! 😊 Great team and good atmosphere. Haven't had food here for over a year, so can't comment at this time, but will update here when we do.

A lovely setting. Excellent place for families as it has a large garden and play area. It's great that it accepts dogs. It was busy when we went so had to wait 40 minutes for our food but very good when it arrived.

Nipped in for a bite of lunch. Two burgers, one ham, egg and chips. Both good sized portions. Really tasty, juicy burger….crispy chips. Delicious. One beer, two soft drinks and a side of cheesy chips came to £59. Busy and still great service.

Only had time for drinks this time. We all enjoying sitting in the beautiful gardens and watching the children play on all the equipment. Will be back again soon.

Not a huge menu, but very good for pub food. Amazing atmosphere and has its own brewed beers. I think everyone in the surrounding area knows this is the best pub in a 10 mile radius! 9.5/10

I was recommended this beautiful pub by a number of people and I can see why! The gardens are absolutely fantastic, plenty of seating and our almost 2 year old loves the fact that he could run around and play safely rather than just be sat in a high chair waiting for food. I noticed lots of water bowls around for the furry members of the family too. Service was very friendly and the food was incredible, I highly recommend the duck salad. Great selection of drinks. This place will now be a regular for myself and my family.

A great little pub with a huge garden area. We went on a hot Sunday lunch time and was busy but the wait for food wasn't too long. Fishcakes and salad were delicious, burger was a little over done but well presented. Will definitely be returning as the roast dinners looked amazing.

Good morning it's Norman Manby here one of the regulars this has been the best boozer in the parishes for decades, I have my tankard behind the bar for caveman to pour me a perfect pint of palmers and occasionally even better if my tight arsed son Michael Manby comes in and buys me one. A great venue for us biker's in the summer. However , no more bow fest's is very disappointing . The caveman keeps pouring my beer these days and passes it over and it looks like a 99 ice cream you would buy from an ice cream van .. all that caveman needs to do is put a flake in it . So actually I don't get a full pint. Very disappointing.

We visited on Easter Saturday, it was busier than expected, the staff handled it beautifully, we were informed on arrival that food had a 40 min wait, we were not in a rush so happy to wait, the beer was delicious and well kept, the garden was huge, with ample seating, lots of families and very dog friendly, the food was fantastic, I had whitebait with salad, which I thoroughly enjoyed, the staff were lovely, rushed off their feet and still smiling, brilliant service, l recommend and plan to return soon. 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Awful place!! The manager is exteamly rude towards us and towards members of staff. The manager was very blunt and didn't make us feel welcome at all didn't make eyecontact. We had to ask if we could place our food order and felt like we got forgotten as we sat there waiting for 20 minuets and it wasn't even busy. Food is overpriced for what it is, when the food came out it was cold. The manager didn't make us feel welcome at all from the start we got there. Please save your money on nice things and not spend it here.

Lunch today with friends and although we didn’t book and pub full we managed to share a table with a lovely couple. Food absolutely delicious and nice substantial plate full too. Ham eggs and chips for the men and for the women the lamb tagine with couscous which was really great. Met Freya 🐶 and she is super cute

This is our local pub and we love coming here on a sunny day after walking our dog. We have visited many times for food or just a drink. Food is delicious and my Husband loves the local ales. The garden is beautiful and big enough to fit lots of people in. It is always popular.

Very nice pub, excellent Sunday Roast and good service overall! Lovely place for children also as the play ground is a nice add on to keep em active and happy. Mobile free pub (u can use but not with sound and also if you need to take a call or ring someone, need to do so outdoors or fine with money going to charity will be imposed!). Still feel though that it misses some character. Maybe the decor needs a bit of a refresh or the orders being taken at the table rather than everyone going at the bar. Prices are very reasonable and quality of food (especially Sunday lunch) is top notch! 4* because I really feel they have the potential for 5*. Will definitely visit again!

No frills traditional pub. Lunch here on a Thursday. PLEASE NOTE THE KITCHEN IS CLOSED ON CERTIAN DAYS. Tuesday and Wednesday I believe but you can take your own food and purchase their drinks. Small inside but there was only two of us. The fire was on which was nice. Big portions so we shared a starter and a main which they were fine with. Dog friendly. Big garden for nice weather. We were stuffed so didn't consider a dessert but they were fairly pricey, Friendly staff.

A nice welcoming pub and also welcoming to the 4 legged variety which is nice to see. Plenty of choice of drinks, especially cider. Plenty of seating and an eclectic array of things to look at on the walls etc. A pub with lots of character. There was only one gripe, people need to be pick up there dog pooh from the rear garden! Not a pretty site and especially if there are children. This is down to the owners of the dogs and not the pub.

Out for a walk and decided to have lunch at the Hampshire Bowman. Was not disappointed, great selection of ale, generous portions of food and friendly staff. Busy, even though out of the way, says it all, will be back

This is a cosy, dog friendly pub with a great beer garden. Good varied menu and reasonable prices we ordered cod and chips and the cod portion was a little underwhelming, We were told it was because it was a loin. However, it was delicious, the fish was fresh and really well cooked. We also ordered bread and olives for two, there were 5 of us and the portion was huge. Will definitely be back if we are in the area.

The main courses were very nice and the service was excellent. Unfortunately it was just freezing cold inside the pub, people were sat inside eating their meals with their coats on. After a period of an hour plus the cold really does creep through your body. It certainly wasn’t a cosy country pub. We were considering having a desert but when we discovered they were £7 plus an extra £1.25 for ice cream ! Making for e.g a Sticky Toffee Pudding £8.25 per person we decided against it.

Found out about this place from word of mouth. Pleased to find a 'proper pub' that is very dog friendly. Visited off the cuff once and had lovely Sunday roast, so decided to visit again with friends, but seeing how popular it is decided to book a table. Were not told when booked that would be thrown off later in the afternoon for another booking. Had to hurry dessert and leave early as no other tables free inside (would otherwise have stayed and had more drinks). Bit of a disappointment. Otherwise would have thoroughly recommended.

An amazing Christmas dinner in a perfect rural setting. Well worth braving the sub-zero temperatures and icey country roads to share an excellent time with work colleagues. Will definitely return in the spring with friends and family to sample the wider menu.
