We enjoyed our visit, the food was lovely and well cooked. The two problems being the landlord is leaving in October so you need to get there soon, the other being the long and very narrow road to get to it but well worth a visit before it is too late.

Met friends for lunch yesterday. Car park was very busy with what looked like an MG car club gathering as well as other customers. Despite being very busy we got our lunch in good time from the welcoming friendly staff. Bowman Swift One was in great condition. Food is wonderful value and prepared with skill and care and have to mention the generous portions too. A lovely well maintained garden is available for alfresco eating and drinking if you like. Have been many times over the years to what is an exceptional country pub. Thanks to all the hard working staff.

My husband, cousin and I went for lunch. There is a big car park so no issue with parking. Our meals were great. We all had different things and each meal was super. I had homemade steak and kidney pie with fresh vegetables and mash. The pie was delicious with loads of meat and a nice thin pastry. The staff looked after us and nothing was too much trouble. My cousin is unwell. The staff know him and were very understanding as his mobility is poor. We reserved a table and we were near the door which was perfect. We were visiting my cousin so it’s not our local as we live in Maidstone and he lives in Bishop’s Waltham. I can thoroughly recommend The Hampshire Bowman. You won’t be disappointed. It was our second visit. Thank you to all of the staff.

It's not in the middle of nowhere. It's on the edge of somewhere. Proper country pub with an ever-changing selection of real ales and ciders, and great food. (The kitchen is currently closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but this may have changed by the time you are reading this, so it's worth giving them a call to check.) Massive garden for the summer months and proper log fires for the winter. This is a mobile phone free zone... If your phone or tablet makes a noise, or if you make a call indoors, there's a fine to pay to charity - it's one of the dwindling number of pubs where conversation still rules. That's not to say you can't use your devices there - they even have WiFi - just keep them on silent. They have a selection of board games to play if that takes your fancy too. Very much dog friendly and located in the middle of prime walking, cycling and horse riding country. Stunning sunsets. A fantastic pub.

An archtypical country pub not far from Winchester. The food was excellent both in quantity and qualitySmall portions available for some dishes which suited by wife and her friend. I had a bacon chop with colcannon mash and cauliflower cheese, which was unusual, but very tasty, in fact I think the Cauliflower cheese was the best I'vr ever had! Service was prompt given that the food wash freshly cooked. Prices reasonable especially given the quality. We will definitely return next time we're in the area

There is special's blackboard for some very tasty different dishes. Due to popularity there can be a wait at times. Well behaved pooches are welcome! It can get busy at times , booking a table in advance is recommended if wishing to eat inside. The garden is extensive, with a play area for children. Staff very helpful and patient. This is a 5 star pub. The garden is lovely in the summer, they grow some of their own vegetables and herbs which they use in the cooking. The food is absolutely amazing, the Sunday dinner is excellent and very filling. The main menu food is also great and very good value for money. The staff are always friendly and helpful. What I also like about the pub is no mobiles phones in the public bar, so people do tend to chat to each other rather than being on their phones. Would recommend a visit and something to eat, you won't be disappointed.

A great venue for us biker's in the summer. However , no more bow fest's is very disappointing . The caveman keeps pouring my beer these days and passes it over and it looks like a 99 ice cream you would buy from an ice cream van .. all that caveman needs to do is put a flake in it . So actually I don't get a full pint. Very disappointing.

Food is overpriced for what it is, when the food came out it was cold. The manager didn't make us feel welcome at all from the start we got there. Have visited this pub many times and the food has always been good, but today I was so dreadfully disappointed. We arrived early as we know they are not very accommodating to you even if you arrive 10 minutes before end of service, and the pub was very quiet. Two girls were on, one who we have seen many times and is always lovely and professional, but the other was clearly ill and coughing all over the place. I heard a table near me ask her to move away from them as they paid the bill it was that bad. We ordered the gnocchi, something I normally really enjoy and order a lot when I eat out and also cook at home so I know how it should be served. This was not good at all, it came dry and bland, no seasoning, cold and tasteless. The girls did not come back to our table to ask how our food was as they could see we had left it so I think each was hoping the other would deal with us. In the end we had to make our way over to the counter to pay and I politely said to the coughing girl that could I offer some feedback which she accepted and said she would mention to the chef, no offer of a discount even though we had not eaten either meal and still charged us full price and seemed unconcerned that we had received below parr food. That was bad enough but when I came on to write this review I see that others have also had the same experience of this dish? Clearly the chef feels the customer is wrong and he/she is right. This dish is all fluff and no substance, should take it off the menu or you’re gonna get more complaints!

We went as a family of 4 for Sunday Lunch, 2 Adults and 2 children under the age of 12. The children had what they described as the 'best burgers they've eaten' and both cleared their plates, followed by Chocolate Brownies. We both chose the Roast, I had Roast Beef and my husband had the trio (Beef/Lamb/Pork) with side dish of Pigs in Blankets and Cauliflower Cheese! The food all came out hot and freshly cooked. The side vegetables were perfectly cooked. I have an allergy to Rapeseed Oil and it was so nice to be able to eat in a establishment that doesn't use it! The staff are friendly and attentive. Hands down the best Roast Dinner I've eaten other than my own. Added bonus is they have a Dog friendly area inside. Remember to bring a healthy appetite!
