A memorable stay in a hotel with a unique history, once owned by the King of England. It’s come a long way since James I walked its halls—he wouldn’t have had the pleasure of the comfortable beds and room temperature control. Nor would he have been able to savor the delicious hotel menu or enjoy the fancy cocktails. He would certainly be proud that it’s now in the hands of Manager Ruth and her team, who make your stay exceptional with their warm welcomes and constant attention to detail. Overall, it's a 10 out of 10 from me for this wonderful hotel in a beautiful and fascinating part of the country.

Was really looking forward to this pub after reading the reviews but sadly the food was extremely disappointing. Burger was burnt on the outside but raw in the middle, lettuce was wilted and pastry on dessert was raw. When I complained about the raw pastry, I was told it was vegan as an explanation….as though vegans shouldn’t enjoy their meals! Won’t be returning. To top it off, there was a distinct smell of cannabis in the garden - so I had the munchies but the food was terrible. Would not recommend!

We called in to have a light snack and to take a look around the farm & gift shop for possible gifts. At the door we were greeted with a sign “CARD PAYMENTS ONLY” This I find VERY UPSETTING and quite frankly VERY UNFRIENDLY - I also wonder if this actually DISRIMINATES against certain members of the community who can only deal in cash but apparently after searching the internet a business has every right to decide who they DON’T WANT as a customer. We continued to Bury St Edmunds where we had a lovely day and spent our CASH!!!!

What a brilliant place to go as I have been here many times and never disappointed. The service was excellent, the staff was polite and attentive, and they went above and beyond. Every dish was bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection. The ambiance was perfect for a relaxing evening out. All the staff were up for a chat and even got to meet the owner. Wonderful lady who has the time for her customers. As a team all the staff were brilliant and work together really well. Amazing and will always go back. Highly recommended.

We go regularly to the Bird in Hand at Beck Row. We go with different friends. We all love it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is always good. It’s got a nice warmth about it. There plenty of car parking space. It’s got a lovely atmosphere. There is plenty of seating and is always nice and clean. We all love it.

This was our 9th visit to The Bedford Lodge for Afternoon Tea and again we were not disappointed. Giovanna has served us many times before and is always fantastic, she is a great asset to the hotel and makes us feel so special. The afternoon tea was delicious as usual and all allergies and requests were adhered to with no fuss. It is by far the best Afternoon Tea we have and I always recommend it to anyone visiting Newmarket. We will be returning in December when we are in Newmarket again.

Fantastic party booking for Sunday lunch. Carvery, beef (very nice but not available rare) and pork, also fish and chicken available if preferred. Nice hot plates to keep food warm, and all food nicely cooked and presented, waiting staff service at your table for drinks were very pleasant as was the bar staff & well trained. Cost was £62 per person two courses including drinks, only grumble was eyes too big for my belly as there's plenty! We will definitely go again

My wife and I sometimes come here for lunch on Sunday or occasionally stop for dinner. The buffets (both cavery & chinese) offer a good selection and are well stocked. One of out favourite local eateries.

Nice quaint pub, lovely lady serving. But sadly food very poor, sliced processed ham and 1 potato chopped up and deep fried as chips with fried eggs at a price of £6.50. Coffee £2.50 in a normal household mug that wasn't very clean. We won't be returning
