Great find, small car park so can get full during busy times but free street parking available too. Staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. Dog friendly family friendly pub, will definitely be visiting again.

We picked this pub at random as a place to stop for lunch on our way through...so glad we did! What a fantastic place, staff were all so friendly and welcoming, food was great (we had pie, lasagna and a jacket spud with delicious cheese cake to follow), and the cask beer was really good. Just a shame we live so far away, but if we are ever heading up towards Norwich again I'll be looking forward to stopping by.

Staff honestly couldn’t do more for you. We often meet up here as it’s so dog friendly ( resident dachshund is a joyous meet and greet committee in himself) but the food far exceeds the regular pub grub we are used to. Would give it 6 stars if it let me!

Met friends for lunch mainly for the location and reviews.Very friendly staff and the pub has been in the family for 4 generations. Food is good and reasonably priced. Service is good and the pub has a lot of character. I would recommend and will definitely return.

Fantastic Pub, Lovely staff , Good food!!! Popped into the White Horse last week to have some lunch and refreshments while I was waiting for my car which was having some work on it to be completed at a local garage. On arrival we were greeted but friendly staff and I assume regulars who made us feel very welcome. It had a lovely atmosphere and reminded me of a former Pub I worked in many years ago. My wife and I ordered some soft drinks and some food from the Lunch menu. While we waited for the food to arrive we enjoyed a game of darts! The food we ordered was lovely and fresh (I'm a chef by trade) great value for money and very tasty. Our visit was so lovely we weren't disappointed with the news from the garage that I had to bring back my car to complete the work the following week,,,, so we visited again today and once again, we had an amazing lunch experience once again!! Was recommended to me. Cycled out there from Newmarket and had a good pint of cider, then looped back to Newmarket via Snailwell.

We looked for a pub to stop off at on our way back from Norfolk and gave this place a try. This is a lovely traditional pub with a cosy bar area. The staff were so so nice and friendly and the food was excellent value for money. We will be stopping off here again for sure on our next trip to Norfolk, which we do around 2-3 times a year!! Highly recommend this place. Parking is a bit limited but we parked (with others) on the road outside.

A really friendly welcome at this lovely pub. They have three excellent real ales on tap. Multiple rooms including a tv showing sport in one room. I nice shaded outdoor paitio area. Lots of memorabilia, pictures and breweriana Well worth a visit if in the area or is you want a stop along the A14. It’s 3 mins drive from the Newmarket junction

As soon as we entered the White Horse we were made welcome. We were looked after extremely well, the food was excellent. Good home cooked meals. Definitely a place we will visit again.

Super family run pub. Very welcoming & friendly service. The pies and lamb burger with Stilton cheese were great. Nice puddings too. 5 or 6 good vegan/vegetarian options (a bigger & better choice than most pubs) Food is homemade and locally sourced where possible. Good red wine, I was driving, so I had zero alcohol Guinness Unfortunately, we were passing through, so a much deserved second visit is unlikely

A random pub stop for food turned out to be really good food

After a desperate search for a good pub sandwich in the area, we happened upon the White Horse. We were greeted with the warmest welcome, and a simple but perfectly formed sandwich menu (although everything looked good!) The sandwiches were great, and the chips were clearly homemade -such a nice surprise and really over delivered! Thank you such a perfect lunch :)

Met up with friends for lunch. Asked for a quiet area which we got. Excellent food and service. A long time since we had sea bass so tasty and cooked to perfection. Thoroughly recommend the venue - nothing too much trouble. Small scissors to cut those annoying little sachets of sauce an excellent touch!

A 'real' pub, old fashioned, multi rooms, no loud music or gaming machines. Good food reasonably priced and service with a laugh. Enjoyable.

Wonderful Sunday lunch. Beautifully home cooked and steaming hot. Plenty of choice and fabulous selection of vegetables. Most like home cooked roast I’ve had eating out. The staff were really lovely. I have recommended to friends and will definitely return.

We arrived with a big group (18 of us) unannounced. Staff was so helpful and great. Food was delicious and arrived quickly. The atmosphere in the pub was so cosy. Would definitely recommend visiting this local business.

Really lovely dog friendly pub and restaurant. We stopped during our 5 hour drive for a lunch break with the dog and 2 kids. No set kids menu, but very accommodating and offered smaller meals for them for really decent prices. Food was delicious too! And the garden is very pretty. Would absolutely go back if ever in the area again!

Found this restaurant on Trip Advisor on the way to Lowestoft, glad we stopped. Lovely welcome and was seated straight away even though the restaurant was busy. The food was delicious and the lamb burger special was very special with the mint mayonnaise. Great service lovely pub great find.

We went for a Sunday dinner(called in around 13.00 to be sure we can turn out). We were seated and served at the table. Bar was packed and very busy. The man who took care of us was very nice and mindful. Food was delicious and to high standards. All the staff seemed friendly and helpful.

We dropped in for something to eat on a walk and it was a good decision. We were made very welcome straight away, and had a great lunch from a good menu selection & specials board. Local ham, egg and proper chips & chicken in a leek & Stilton sauce, delicious and well cooked and presented. We found space for desserts, which were top notch too - will need to walk a bit more to burn it off but will definitely be back this way

We took our 89 year old, and 87 year old for lunch, which they loved. The friendly service and quality of the food was extremely good. We will definitely be going back for more.

Just came to look around, saw the pub, dropped in had a pint. Asked if we wanted food and figured we were in fact hungry. Both my proper ham egg and chips and the wife’s Mediterranean Tart were lovely. Service was very easy going, friendly and helpful. Nice place to sit outside too. All round vey pleasant

Convenient place to meet half way and what a piece of luck to find a friendly pub with delicious home cooked food. The sticky toffee pudding was A*, light and moist with just the right amount of sauce and custard, often a problem with this pudding. Excellent!

A fantastic pub. Lovely atmosphere and great service. The food was really nice. I had an excellent roast beef sandwich and the lamb burger that our group ordered was excellent as well. We took our dog along and he was made very welcome. They really are a dog friendly pub. First visit and we will definitely return.

A family run pub with a good selection of real ales and other drinks. Two bars to chose from: one for socialising, drinking and watching sport and the other for quieter drinks and mainly used as a resterant. A fantastic family friendly resterant and the specials are highly recommended. Car park on the front and a beer garden that's great for late summer drinking.

My wife and I picked the White Horse as a convenient stop to break a Guildford to Norwich trip. This is an authentic no frills village pub. Service was really quick and friendly. The staff rustled up our lunches from the specials board really quickly and the meals were tasty and excellent value. Could we’ll return.

What a brilliant pub, we cycled from Haddenham to have a lunch n a few beers. The locals were great n friendly, apparently I am big in Newmarket! 4 real ales all in great condition, food was excellent, pie of the day was a real pie with crust on top n bottom. We had a great afternoon, it was hard cycling back but luckily we managed a pint in The 5 miles before getting home. A bloody great British pub.

Parking a little difficult as on a corner . The garden areas are lovely and one part is synthetic grass. Meals had a wonderful odour from the kitchen and looked appetising but we only stopped for a cold drink. Staff very friendly and the little dachshund saying hello to everyone too. Interior very friendly and quirky but in an old world kind of way. Well worth a visit if your passing. X

We found this lovely pub on route on to Red Rooster festival where my partner was DJing. and what a fabulous find. Proper home cooked food and how wonderful that the family who have owned it are still running it 80 or so years later. It's a real treasure to find authentic places like this.. we returned on the way home for a fabulous roast dinner with our friends. Big thanks to Alex and Jack (Brother and sister) and Dad and Mum (chef) We will definitely be back.. Thanks for wonderful hospitality HIghly recommend

All we can say is the management, staff and customers made us feel so welcome. It was 175 mile drive and a pre-booked lunch stop for 4 of us and our spaniel, Millie, en route to the north Norfolk coast. Great hospitality, proficient service, good food. As somebody else has said : a proper pub. We feel we know many people in The White Lion, pity it’s not our local. Well done Jack and crew.

Met a friend here as half way between our homes. Very friendly pub, really busy and had to park on the road, car park full. If a pub is busy it’s usually because it’s good and that is really the case here. We sat in the public bar and it was clean and everyone was friendly. Food really good and great value. Good service. Will definitely go again and would recommend 100%

Absolutely top service. Run by lovely, friendly and welcoming people, the White horse is a nice relaxing environment and the food is amazing. I’m vegan and went to this pub for lunch with a non-vegan friend and there was plenty of choice for us both (another plus that no matter your dietary requirements or lifestyle choices, this pub is inclusive of all!) In fact the food and overall experience was so great I have already pre-booked a table to take my family here when they are visiting later in the month. I would highly recommend a visit here!

Absolutely fantastic little gem of a pub. Food was really delicious, the people were incredibly kind and welcoming and the pub itself is very pretty. Not far from the A14, we pulled off rather than going to another services with the same rubbish fast food and we were not disappointed at all.

The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and kind. The pies are AMAZING! It was a treat to get back and enjoy a White Horse lunchtime pie! The food is homemade and superb. Prices are reasonable too. The car park is often full, but on-road parking is possible.

Good choice of ales in tip-top condition. Comfortable bar and restaurant, friendly service. Excellent pub food at very reasonable prices. Apparently been run by the same family for generations, and they are getting good at it. And a bicycle rack with a charging outlet! Unique.

Wow, we were just passing through and decided to stop in. Really enjoyed it. Lovely landlord looked after us so well. Only had some starters and puddings but they were tasty and plenty ! Sat out in lovely sun and courtyard too. Nice surprise for this time of year.
