A memorable stay in a hotel with a unique history, once owned by the King of England. It’s come a long way since James I walked its halls—he wouldn’t have had the pleasure of the comfortable beds and room temperature control. Nor would he have been able to savor the delicious hotel menu or enjoy the fancy cocktails. He would certainly be proud that it’s now in the hands of Manager Ruth and her team, who make your stay exceptional with their warm welcomes and constant attention to detail. Overall, it's a 10 out of 10 from me for this wonderful hotel in a beautiful and fascinating part of the country.

This is a prime location in Newmarket with all the shops within a close walking distance. (Starbucks yay!) The rooms have air-conditioning and are spider-free which make a HUGE difference if you're American! The food at their restaurant is also amazing. Ruth, at the front, went above and beyond for us to make sure we could have Netflix on our tv and be as comfortable as possible during our stay. She provides some of the best service we've ever had in England, and she truly cares about your comfort. She is the main reason we will stay here again on our next visit. Loved that you can also walk down and see the Newmarket horses run in the mornings. That is a nice treat!

Kings is an amazing cozy hotel/bar. The staff are amazing and make you feel at home. Ruth, Angie, Eranda, and Lawrence each made me feel like the only guest they had. All wonderful people. My room was cozy and comfortable, very clean. The building and grounds have an amazing history if your interested in that sort of thing. The horse racing industry thrives nearby and this can be seen all around. Situated in the middle of the High street, access to everything is simple, just a moments walk in any direction. I was staying for work, but the staff and atmosphere made me feel like I was on holiday everyday after work. It's a place you must experience for yourself.

Stayed & ate. Situated perfectly just off the high street.. Rooms are well equipped, tidy and comfortable. Hotel has lovely decor, pretty outside area with ample seating. nice friendly relaxing & trendy. We stayed over Easter weekend and got treated to 2 free discos.. great atomsphere.. Would definitely recommend! Food was very nice & well Presented. Cannot fault any of it.

Attended a celebration of life event, food was very nice. Staff friendly, unobtrusive and efficient. I was very concerned for the little white dog that seemed to be shut in a cupboard, it was constantly bashing against the door to get out. Clearly it did not want to go back in the cupboard after it had been out for a toilet break as it was digging its heels in and resisting.

Held my daughter's and daughter in law joint baby shower 👶 Would like to thank all the staff who made it such a lovely day and great communication with the arrangements. the afternoon tea was beautiful 😍 and a lovely time had by all 💯 😍

We went there this evening for a Christmas party. The meal was great, and the service was excellent. The staff worked so hard and gave great service. They were very busy, but remained cheerful and attentive all evening. Could not fault it. Thanks for a great night.

Visited with friends on a Friday night, was fairly quiet but lovely atmosphere. Great staff, gave us free crisps, free shots. Background music was good. Will definitely be back

I cannot recommend Kings enough, everything we could think of was covered for a special family birthday meal! Food was delicious, drinks were amazing! Special shout to Ruth for sorting out all the particulars and being there on the night to make sure it all went perfectly. Mikey and Lawrence were so attentive. Second trip already booked for the family to come down and stay again. The only criticism for the whole night was the large portion sizes - none of us left not feeling full and content.

Have eaten here several times and really enjoyed it. However recently visited and ordered a pizza- nice and hot and very tasty. However £10 for a frozen pizza is quite expensive

A very well run hotel - Stayed on a Saturday night after the Races. Room was clean and compact. Overlooked the rear garden which was now resuming normality ( Covid) with guests outside enjoying themselves. Our most interesting observation was the slick team who manage this establishment. The evening music and bar area indoors were at times difficult to accommodate room for everyone who arrived. As we were staying guests we were very well looked after - i.e a table to sit and drink. Rules were adhered to and people still thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Would definitely stay again for a Race weekend.

Stayed for two nights, had a wonderful time everything was lovely. Ate at the restaurant one night; recommend the steak. Even had Aircon in the room. Felt very safe with their handling of COVID restrictions.

My husband and our dog stayed at the Kings hotel for an entire month while waiting to move into our new home. I can’t say enough good things about the hotel and the staff. They were so kind. Amazing customer service. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Cleaning staff is so great, food is always good, and every single person who works there is a star employee. The hotel is very centrally located in Newmarket, within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The hotel had on site parking but if it’s full there is a great car park just a block away. Living in a hotel for a month is hard but King’s made it so much easier. The atmosphere at the bar and restaurant area is so nice; great place for lunch, dinner or afternoon tea. We are so glad we found this hotel!

We often go to the Rutland Arms but this is closed for two years, we asked in Newmarket where we would get a good Sunday lunch and a lady told us to go to Kings.

We went for Christmas Day lunch the table was laid out beautifully the food was very good,service was friendly and professional,we all had a great time.Thank you.

Wasn’t impressed.... decor is lovely, has a homely feel. Carvery meat was swimming and the beef was really tough. All the spoons/tongs had been mixed so had various other bits of food on them. It didn’t taste awful but it was far from the best I’ve had.

Visited today with friends. Our drinks order was taken promptly but then took half an hour to arrive. Our food order was taken during this time and then took an hour and a half to arrive. With young children as part of our party this was far from ideal.

Last minute booking so we could attend the Henry Cecil Open Weekend. Room fine, bed clean and comfortable but shower awful, changed from hot to freezing and back of its own accord. Didn’t have breakfast due to early start but brought own cereal and room had a useful fridge. Worst point was the noise from the nightclub next door thumping bass from 10 onwards. Only hotel I’ve ever stayed in where ear plugs included in the welcome pack.

The garden is secure & private, with good access - reasonable prices, good value & quality & quantity of food, just a bit limited choice.

Went for lunch with my wife and 21 year old granddaughter. We were very pleased with the menu, the food and the staff who checked that all was well with the food. Service was quick, efficient and cheerful. The dining room is decorated to a high standard and the seating was comfortable. A good choice.

My friend and I shared a wrap. Very tasty. No issue and provided with 2 plates. Excellent waiting staff. Would have loved to sit outside but was raining.

Last minute decision to eat out for Sunday lunch, and an excellent choice. Pleasant welcome and a table of choice outside..... even though outdoors eating is always marred somewhat by being the smoking area as well. However, nothing was spoiled by this! Great food and plenty of it, piping hot where it needed to be. Really good value for money compared to another Newmarket location which virtually doubles the cost of a carvery if you eat it on Sunday. Fresh veg here perfectly cooked to my liking which can often be a rarity. We so enjoyeed a starter and main that pudding couldn’t be accompanied dated........no starter next time!! I look forward to a return visit soon.

What an absolute amazing booking in service. Great personalised system. Shown to our room not just told number. Room small but everything you could want in it. Requested a ground floor and they provided one. Shower cubicle so no climbing in and out of a bath beautifully clean room. So very pleased. I would recommend this hotel.

Visited today for Sunday lunch. Our booking seemed to have been missed off the list. We were given a table in the bar. Several young girls were chatting and eventually our drink order was taken, 15 minutes later the drinks arrived but they were incorrect. When our lunch came out it was another 5 minute wait of the vegetables. The vegetables looked as if they had been microwaved or kept warm for too long. The carrots were inedible.

This hotel is great find. The hotel is clean, well decorated, comfortable beds, excellent food, wonderful friendly staff and great location. I asked for a room on the bottom floor as I had broke my leg. The hotel gave us a lovely room but alas the view from the window was pretty bad. I think there is a dispute over the land and the hotel can’t do anything with it at present but I think a frosted glass window or a painted mural on the glass would have been preferential to what was out there. Pity because everything else was 5 star.

What has happened to this place.....was full of 20-30 year olds, nicely dressed but mostly drunk. Used to like it but won’t be going back.

We visited King’s today for lunch, a great venue with friendly staff, excellent food from an extensive menu.

We went today for the first time, and the first thing you will notice is the elegant furniture and cosy feel to the restaurant. We opted for a traditional Sunday roast, and the food was cooked to perfection, and generously portioned. Extra vegetables were brought to the table. The service was exceptionally good, and the ladies that served us were so lovely and welcoming and attentive...a real credit to the establishment. We had such a lovely meal that we will certainly be going back again.

We visited the Kings for lunch, the meals were excellent, as were the staff and service. The bar/restaurant was spacious, spotless, with a warm ambiance.

WE stayed there with my wife for a week. The personnel was overly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. The rooms were very practical with comfortable beds.

Since last visiting Kings the changes are immense in that the previously most attractive area at the rear where the conservatory area was is now turned into bedrooms and the front ballroom area now the main dinning area and is hideous.

Went for a drink and stopped for dinner place was very clean and staff helpful ordered food when it came didn’t disappoint at all was great presented well and tasted good and when bill came wasn’t that expensive

Called here today for lunch whilst our dog was in the Vets, I had the burger and It was the best burger I have ever had, and I have had a few!

First time here, great options of drinks & the barman even looked up a cocktail that my friend wanted that wasn’t on the menu and happily made them all evening, it was a fab night with good music

Sunday dinner on St Pat's Day.. obviously had been a long day for staff but they still provided excellent service.. the waiter we had was great who also provided us with some good tips on things to see in the area..Food was good Mushroom Stroganoff and the Beef.. crazy cheap drink deals and setting fine.

As we live in Newmarket, Kings has always been our place to get amazing drinks in a great atmosphere. Their happy hour is second to none, and if you combine that with the amazing bartender Molly who always remembers her regulars, it is simply an exquisite place to relax and hangout with friends. This is even more true during the warmer months when Kings opens their spacious, comfortable, and inviting garden.

Enjoyed a lovely meal & a few tasty cocktails, our waiter was Sam he was very polite & friendly, apparently it was his first night there too - very impressed he did a great job. We’ll definitely be back again!

We went to the bar and if I was to just provide this review on the bar staff then I would give a 0 star however the manager Mark rectified our issues that we had, he made us feel welcome and provided us with a service that we would expect from such an establishment! 5* for Mark! An absolute asset to this business, because of him I will return!
