The best restaurants serving British food in England

Went to meet up with family, the meal was reheated the pastry was like a brick, my partners food was cold, as for the service, our waitress was nothing short of bad mannered, after ordering a double gin she dropped the measuring optic in my glas and proceeded to fish it out with her fingers, didn't bother to wash her hands first.. when I said I'd like a fresh drink I got the answer 'it's alcohol, it's like disinfectant' the measures were also short so make sure you get what you pay for! I was disgusted, I lived this place before the new owners took over, we always had brilliant food and service... sorry that's not the case anymore

Went for lunch, great food and service reasonably priced

The service was wonderful and very fast! The food was delicious and served seemingly immediate from being cooked. Will hopefully visit again soon.

Dog friendly pub but only outside unfortunately. Food was delicious, so much so we had the pork belly bites twice

Chilli arrived mostly cold, with lumpy rice and a bit of sauce — almost no meat at all. The ham, egg, and chips were no better; the ham was cold and tough to chew. The milkshake came topped with lumpy cream, which was unappetising. Overall, it felt rushed and poorly made. Sadly, I won’t be ordering again.

Just returned from the Tatton Arms, what a lovely warm, welcoming place it is. We love having Sunday lunch out and we weren't disappointed, when the meal arrived I saw the massive Yorkshire pudding and thought oh no! as when they are that big they are often tasteless, but what a lovely surprise to find out how tasty it was. Everything on the plate was really enjoyable and well-presented. Another surprise was to see how much gravy was on the meal and it tasted good. Very recommendable.

Highly recommended, great atmosphere and food is to a very high standard. Cannot fault the place! Credit where credit is due! Come here regularly and still yet to have a average meal! The food is so fresh and so beyond any expectations! Always recommend family and friends , I cannot express the flavours and freshness of the food! Staff and friendly and helpful always greated with a warm smile! Buffalo chicken tenders and lemon chilli fries are an ultimate combo to pick at! The szechwan chicken or prawn option are elite and high recommend! The only thing I can complain about is that it's addictive and leaves you trying to find a fault! (Which you won't!). Every dish is spot on and hits the spot!

Very friendly staff. Gail was very attentive and had a lovely welcoming attitude. No complaints about the breakfast either. Everything you could want.

Once again we had a very lovely Sunday Roast, i enjoyed Chicken and my wife went for the Pork both were accompanied by the vegetable's Cauliflower Cheese and Broccoli. your starter was the Camembert with warm breadth and desserts of Dark Chocolate with Orange Roulade. Drinks were Non Alcoholic Beer for me and my wife enjoyed a Sauvignon Blanc. Special mention to our server Holly P whose attention to our needs went above and beyond, she was exceptional busy still found time to tend to our requests Well Done !

The food preparation and delivery process has become noticeably slower and given the prices changed it should be quicker

Could not recommend this place to anyone enough. It is a total hidden gem in a little village near the sea side. We honestly never get fish and chips at the beach. We always come here after a nice leg stretch and dog walk. The pub is dog friendly and also serve pies for dogs which I just think is amazing! Nevertheless if you’re not a dog lover you’ll be pleased to know there’s an area for people with dogs. I’d say 3/4 of the dining area is not for dogs. I however am a dog lover and take my dog so it’s perfect. There is also a separate restaurant area where no dogs are allowed at all and you get a proper dining experience with a restaurant feel. We however prefer to sit in the pub side. I have to say not sure if it’s the owner or manager or chef but I noticed how every chance he got he was coming out to check how peoples food was as well as the staff and chipping in with collecting glasses ect which you don’t often see from an owner. It just showed a really good team spirit which I thought was so lovely to see. All the staff in fact are so pleasant and lovely. I’ve honestly never ever ever had a bad experience here it’s so consistent and the food is honestly just absolutely to die for. They also offer a lot of gluten free and vegan options too. My favourite pie is a skewbald pie. Highly recommended. I’m currently on holiday dreaming of coming home and getting one of these pies very soon. One of my favourite places to eat ever you just honestly have to try it for yourselves you’ll never be disappointed.
