Stopped here for a quick lunch on our way home, we had booked a table online an hour or so before We arrived to the table set and with a high chair as we had requested, and a friendly member of staff took our food and drinks order Food arrived very promptly and was very tasty and served pipping hot. Good value for the food Pub was spotlessly clean, and all the service was friendly and efficient Will return to try something more than just a quick lunch

We popped in for an afternoon meal. We've been several times, and know the good, service, and value for money is superb. This review is to highlight the excellent customer service we received after a hiccup with our order. We were bought out the wrong meal. This was instantly rectified, the staff were extremely apologetic, and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you! This, if anything, has increased our pleasure of dining there

Lovely evening meal on Good Friday, quick service and pleasant staff all made for a great experience. Update. We go back often and never have a bad meal, love it and slowly making our way through the menu.

Great vegan selection on the mains. Disappointed that there was no vegan dessert. Lovely service from the staff. Nice to see the place busy and being well supported.

Really Delicious home cooked Sunday lunch. Plenty of choices on the menu & Specials on board. Great , friendly service. Cosy atmosphere in the bar with logburner going . We sat in the restaurant area, which was busy but we didn't have to wait . We were served quickly .

Visited this establishment whilst on a family holiday in the area We had a 14 month old with us with a dairy allergy and on contacting them prior to our visit to discuss a suitable meal for him they could not have been more helpful. All the meals on the night were delicious and the staff serving us were very helpful and friendly (in particular Rebecca) If we were staying in the area again we would definitely visit again

We went one Saturday afternoon and were warmly welcomed and able to order a late lunch in the conservatory. Although only a short distance from the busy A5 it’s relaxing here and the service is excellent. I’m only denying them the full 5 stars because my risotto was too greasy!

Excellent food, good service, reasonably priced.

The food was good, big portions. The staff were friendly. But stood behind the bar chatting. We had to ask for everything eh. Extra drinks, pudding. No one cleared the table at the end. No one asked if the meal was OK. Mediocre service

Ordered mussels all we got was A lot of shells and nothing inside Dreadful should be taken off the menu

Fabulous Sunday lunch as always. Friendly efficient staff and proper home-made sunday lunch with all the trimmings. Worth our weekly trip there.

Staff are very nice people might say otherwise but I completely disagree they always chat when we go and are all very nice I also love the chicken wrap

Went here for sunday lunch a few weeks ago. This place used to be great, but I hadn’t been for several years so thought id go back. While the food was edible, it was not great. Overcooked veg, dry meat, potatoes covered in oil, and dreadful service. Sad its not what it used to be and wont be going back

Had a fantastic meal at the Queens head tonight. Hadn’t been for some time and was hoping that the food quality was as good as it used to be. Thankfully we weren’t disappointed. Everyone's food was fantastic. We had a wide variety of dishes and no one had any complaints at all. I personally had the steak and chips and it was as good as any I’ve had in a pub. Honestly couldn’t recommend their food enough. Staff were great as well and service was excellent. Really good choices on the menu. Lovely to see so many options for food allergies as well. Top class

Great food and staff with reasonable prices

This is currently our favourite place to eat. Never had a problem booking and there are 2 car parks so no problem parking. The staff are lovely and the food is amazing. There is so much to choose from and the specials are always excellent.

Stopped as a pub stop on the way to Wrexham. Its fine, staff nice, buffet offering a bit basic, decor quite dated. Main menu food looked good though.

Eight people from our walking group tried to visit the pub after our walk last Thursday but when we got there it was very shut - in total darkness - and the staff had been obviously trying to get rid of another friend who was waiting to meet us there because they wanted to close even though their website says they should have been open. We had avoided going on Tuesdays when they say they are closed. Won't bother going on a Thursday again if they can't keep to their advertised opening times.

We visited on our narrowboat without a booking and we were made to feel very welcome and were looked after by an Irish lady (sorry didn't get your name) who was very good and helpful . Got to say we were blown away by the standard of the food. My partner had Seafood platter and I had a Steak burger (black and blue). The tastiest food we have had for a long time. The beer was very good and the place is very clean if not immaculate. Well done to the Queens head team!. Dave and Rachel x

Popped in here whilst travelling back from down South. Had the lamb from the specials board and was very very nice 👍 Quite a large specials board and good menu

We stopped here on our way home from Anglesey after failing to find somewhere to eat in Llangollen (everywhere was full) because it is very conveniently located just off the A5. We ate outside because dogs are not allowed inside, I'm not sure why this is the case because it is a very large pub with hard flooring so it would be easy to define an area where dogs are permitted. It's obviously a very popular local pub with lots of tables including some in a conservatory, unfortunately there is no garden - just a few trestle tables. The menu offered a good choice and we enjoyed chicken burgers, steak pie and scampi at very reasonable prices, the chips were perfect (crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle). The also offer a good choice of beers and wine. Service was helpful and quick, our meals arrived in less than 30 minutes. I'd go again but maybe without a dog.

Called in on the off chance they were serving food at 4pm on Thursday and pleasantly surprised to find they were. Was even more pleased when I saw the menu. Absolutely superbly made delicious plates of paella for me and slow cooked pork belly for my partner. Served with very friendly and professional service. Highly recommend this place and will be returning very soon. Happy customers here. Thank you.

Friendly staff, Rebecca is a star, the local ale made Himself happy and a choice from good coffee to gin through wine served me very well, huge portions, but they were happy to pack up what we had no room to eat so we can enjoy it on the boat later. It was quiet ISH on the Friday down lunch and understandably very busy on the Sunday lunch back up the canal, we'll come back if we can!

We booked for Sunday lunch at the beginning of our week’s holiday in oswestry. Absolutely superb meal and returned at the end of our week in the areq. The team were friendly and so helpful. Portion sizes were so huge and the food outstanding.

The Queens head has a very wide menu choice Our party had a steak and that member felt it was one of the best steaks he’s ever had ,I had a paella which was absolutely brilliant very large portion two others in our party had chicken in a bacon and leek cream sauce which they really enjoyed, good wine choices ,all together we thought it was a really excellent meal.

Delicious ribeye steak, scrumptious paella & kids enjoyed their food too. Felt very welcome & received great service. Old style pub with canal walk nearby.

Called in for a drink, more of a place to eat. We were asked to vacate the table as locals were coming in in 25 mins? Why had the table not indicated that ? Staff not very engaging disappointed

What a fab meal we both had. Not just the normal pub food, other people's dishes going by looked great. something diffrent. Service was good but no smiles but you don't eat those. Decor was clean and bright. Canal across the road to take a walk as well. Perfect afternoon.

Held a large family birthday gathering here. Food and service was very good. Staff polite and helpful. We had a lovely celebration, thank you to everyone.

I have been to most good pubs in the area and now can tell that Queens Head has best food and service within 7 mile radius. At least to me. Definitely coming back and it says it all. It was such a treat to have some of the best Sunday roast I had in a while. I never been here before and came on my way home from work but I am certainly planning to come back for more.

Popped in lunch time, hadn't booked but fortunately got the last seating area. It was heaving. Despite that the staff were super efficient. Wasn't sure how our meal would be, being so busy but needn't have worried. Meals were hot and were very nice. Returning Saturday for our 50th anniversary meal with family. Looking forward to it.

My partner booked this as a surprise dinner for me I must admit so glad she did the food was amazing, the waitresses were very polite professional and chatty. It was spotlessly clean we had three course all cooked to perfection highly recommend and will definitely be returning for more meals fantastic menu lots to choose from and a specials board worth a look at

Enjoyable drink and bowl of chips with friends. Unfortunately they don’t allow dogs inside, but having just done a walk along the canal we were dressed for sitting outside.

We had a family gathering here today 25/11/23. We had a lovely time with decent food. I’m a vegetarian and sometimes find it difficult to get something decent to eat when I go out. There was plenty of choice not only for me but for everyone. We were nicely greeted and the service was excellent. I had a good meal and a sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The main meal was good but the pudding was excellent. Can highly recommend this place. 👍👍👍👍

We used to visit the Queens Head a lot. However now since covid it has become ridiculously expensive. It’s no longer a place to drop in for a snack or early dinner as the prices put it into a different league, more on a par with upmarket bespoke dining facilities. Sadly the food whilst good is certainly not up to that standard.. We still go but not once or twice a week but more once every 6 to 8 weeks for special occasions. When we have been recently the place has been virtually empty. Sad really as I am sure with more reasonable pricing the place would do much better.

We decided to meet for a long overdue family meal Booked well in advance Arrived, ordered our meal but waited far to long, asked when it would arrive?? But we were disappointed whenit did, food was not hot as one would expect, not cheap either, so wouldn't recommend or won't be returning!!!

40+ years ago I used to pass this pub in my mate's dad's MK1 Granada on our way to North Wales. Finally made it inside. Glad we did. Lovely sandwiches. Go for the crab or the club... Hopefully I'll be on the A5 again in the next 40 years 🤞

Stopped here on route from Worcester to North Wales and what a find! Went in with out a reservation and it was no problem, lovely menu, hard to choose what to get. Went for the Beef Brisket with Horseradish Mash and Buttered Greens and Gravy and oh my! Beef was melt in the mouth and proper mash and veg that was perfectly cooked. My husband went for the curry and had it extra spicy and it sure was that. It came half and half with chips and rice and a basket of Naan. My daughter had the mac and cheese with Garlic Bread and for the 1st time the meal came out the perfect temperature for her to eat straight away! The staff were all lovely. I would definitely come back again if we were passing this way. 5 stars from me.

Very accommodating staff. We arrived by Narrowboat without booking and the landlady went to great effort to fit us in. We had a cracking Sunday dinner. I had the Pork that melted in the mouth and the cracking was just perfect. Lots of vegetables. Good beer too. We will certainly call again. Many thanks.

Lovely friendly pub and restaurant. The staff were very attentive and efficient. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it . I had a chicken and mushroom dish from the specials board , it came with well cooked veg and a choice of potato. I highly recommend this pub/ restaurant.

Staff really friendly even though they were very busy. Wide choice of food. We shared dishes from nibbles and then mains. All food served nice and hot and all dishes excellent. Loved the goats cheese pizza to eat whilst waiting for mains of carbonara and a brisket dish. So tasty , not over salty. Would definitely return to sample quality food in nice atmosphere.

Popped in for an evening meal whilst staying in the area for a wedding. Great menu and range of specials. Staff were welcoming and friendly and we went for garlic bread & calamari plus haloumi salad and their LEGENDARY Paella 🥘.. Food was excellent and we left with full bellies and a bag of ice courtesy of the land lady who took pity on us as we didn't have any and there aren't many shops around for stuff. If you're in the area definitely give the Queens Head a visit

We have been here several times but not recently and decided to go for dinner. My husband had a burger which was so dry it was hardly edible and 5 chips. The salad looked like it had been recycled. I had the prawn salad which was tiny and had half a tomato and 3 pieces of cucumber a bit of carrot onion and lettuce. Both cost £15 and value for money is non existent. I would definitely not recommend and we will not be going back.

This was our third visit. The food is absolutely excellent. I had salmon in a lovely sauce with prawns, the best I've ever had and the other 3 meals were also excellent. I would highly recommend.

We have always enjoyed the Queen's Head for food, so jumped at the chance to book it when family came to visit. We arrived at 7pm and there were only a handful of tables occupied. After ordering our food, a couple more tables arrived but it wasn't busy. Our food arrived ONE HOUR TEN MINUTES later which was totally unacceptable, particularly when the newly seated tables were having starters. People already seated, ate mains and sweets AND left before we were served. The food was average at best. What used to be an outstanding plate of food, was now a mediocre plate of food at a high price. The beef and lamb dishes were both £17/£18 so we expected something decent. We decided to skip dessert, and after asking for our bill three times and not leaving a tip, we left. We will sadly not be returning. Staff were not overly friendly, service was terrible and the food was average. It pains me to write this.

I had a delicious glass of red wine and the most amazing pizza pescatore which had smoked salmon prawns and anchovies. It was wonderful. The staff were really friendly and very efficient. I'd recommend this pub to anyone passing on a boat.

Simply average food with no flair. We took our Spanish guests to sample English pub food and thought here would be a safe bet. I ordered bread and olives but unfortunately the oil wasn't olive oil so couldn't be mixed with the balsamic vinegar. It sat like gloop. I should have sent it back but wondered if they knew it should have been olive oil. The legendary Spanish paella should not have chorizo in it as well as seafood. But the experience was saved by the ice cream desserts. They were great and worth every penny. Generally it was fine, nothing special.

Wonderful place to go for a meal. Plenty of seating. Extensive menu. Excellent food quality. Excellent service. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended. Will definitely return.
