Brilliant Sunday lunch in a great setting

Always good for a pre theatre bite to eat. The pizza that they are doing at the moment is really nice. I would have liked to see some salad on the menu but otherwise can't complain. Great place we love it.

I normally have a great experience here, and the staff are always really friendly. But this evening, unfortunately, I didn't. Tonight my gluten free pizza was cooked for too long, so it was quite cardboard-like and the eton mess for dessert tasted, well, weird! It almost tasted like someone had added perfume to it?! I have to say though, staff were great and took the feedback with civility. They were very good! We normally go to eat before a show in the wardrobe theatre, and I'm sure we will again, we may just think for a minute before we do.

We quite simply couldnt have asked for a better wedding venue. The team were amazing, the food was perfect, the sound for the band was top notch and we had a compeltely insane day / night. Thank you thank you thank you especially to Sara and Iggy for making it happen.

The food and place are lovely but getting one piece of lamb for a roast dinner that costs £21 is pushing it. I was still hungry after. Delicious food and good service but very stingy in terms of portions.

What a great night, ably assisted by the fantastic Bella! God the staff work hard but always with a smile. Great food, pizzas and small plates, so delicious. Lots of great local beer choices. Then clear the decks for High Fade. Great gig, great atmosphere, no tension, great music. I love this place.

Good drink selection both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Gluten Free and Vegan Options for pizza. Atmosphere is great and the venue is unique. I will definitely return here.

Ordered a margarita pizza on Uber eats because there was a buy one get one free deal. The restaurant only gave the driver one pizza and the pizza had a few pieces of bacon on (I do not eat pork). Did not even receive a refund.

Sunday roast was so scrumpy, hard to find a good veggie roast these days. but this one was real good. the parsnips were my fave bit, haha! really nice vibe with the music, the staff were like really nice too and made me feel really at home. nice one!

We had a lovely couple of beers at the Old Market Assembly, there’s a small selection of very good keg craft beers. We sat upstairs which was OK, it was comfortable but we couldn’t hear the music up there, which was a shame but I suppose that’s deliberate.

Made very welcome by all the staff. Very enjoyable couple of halves in there on my pub crawl of the general area. Only disappointed I couldn't spend longer ! There's a small to medium size theatre out back, an upstairs with inside seating and a small roof garden and the venue is LGBTQ+ friendly. Definite recommendation from me 👍💗

Appalling experience . Waited over an hours for pizza which never arrived whilst staff moved in i. Slow motion and did shots in kitchen in full view of us. It was my birthday . When we were then risking being late for our gig we had to ask for our money back and leave without eating and all the waiter said was 'we get this all the time we are in hospitality. ' I've worked in hospitality for many years and never seen anything like the poor service and terrible attitude there. if Iwas the owner or manager I wld need to have a serious think about my staff .

Staff are really accommodating and lovely but the roast was very disappointing. I wasn't full and I paid almost £20 ! It wasn't crispy and it was bland and they skimped giving only 3 potatoes, 1 carrot, and 1 parsnip with the main. Disappointing, wouldn't recommend. Does provide a variety of dietary options eg. vegan and gluten-free.

A good meeting place if you're going to the wardrobe theatre. Quite nice pizza and food. A good bar and an excellent little theatre next to it.

Love this place, beautiful venue and all around feel. The staff are friendly but each time I’ve been there has been several mistakes at the bar with our drinks and no real desire to rectify it. It’s not to take away from the yummy food or the beautiful atmosphere.

No women's toilets, but men get to choose from both "urinals" and "cubicles", which is direct sex-discrimination. I would not recommend a venue like this for any vulnerable or anxious women. They don't take cash, which is an ethical issue for many, and the atmosphere felt quite negative and unfriendly at the bar. The young man who served me ended up being very lovely, which is a credit to himself as a person. Corporate rainbow-washing can be dangerous if you proritise profit and fashions over the safety and comfort of your customers.

Excellent place for a wedding followed by cans love the cans and the weddings and the roast !!! Highly recommended wedding venue

Went to an excellent lgbtq+ comedy night here with friends for the second time last night, and once again, it did not fail to impress. The pizza before hand was home made and amazing, the range of beers were great and the comedians were superb. Another fantastic night at this venue, thank you Old Market Assembly.

Came for a Sunday lunch. The staff were so lush and the service was delicious. We ordered lambs and pork bellies... The yorkies, potatoes and veg were fantastic, the portion sizes of the meat on both plates was very disappointing, - two measley mouthfuls of meat. It felt quite insulting and we didn't want to comment to the lovely staff serving us cos we didn't want to embarrass them. Come on assembly rooms, sort it out.

One of the best vegan/vegetarian roasts in Bristol! Wonderful staff and just an amazing atmosphere. Love this place and I will be back for my 4th roast before Christmas 😊

We had our wedding here and it was honestly the best day ever. Amelia was sensational at working with us to create our day the way we wanted it. The food was wonderful! The chef let us choose from a wide selection and many guests told us it was the best meal they'd ever had at a wedding. Everyone in our party also told us how kind and welcoming the staff were to them. It was perfect - we'd very much wanted a wedding that was fun, funky and to spend our money somewhere local. So a big thank you to the Old Market team X

Service is great, and the whole place is beautiful. We had a mushroom pizza, and it was below average unfortunately... Also, I think we got sick from the garlic dough balls which were delicious...

Love this place and LOVE the pizza!! Definitely recommend coming on a weekday for one. Roast dinners are also delicious. The atmosphere is so lovely, wherever you sit!

A great pub serving an excellent range of drinks including lots brewed locally. The food is excellent with really fabulous pizzas. A wide range of seating including a very nice roof terrace. Excellent for groups and for a bite to eat before going to the theatre.

Had a big birthday do here, of around 25 people and it was absolutely wonderful! Atmosphere was great and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. All the food and drink was excellent and we were all super impressed! We were seated in the mezzanine area which was perfect to give us our own space and it's overall a very lovely setting- highly recommend!

The place is cool, nice staff, and good beer! Went there for sunday roast. pork was really good, however, roast potato can be better.

Really cool venue and the staff were lovely but pizzas weren’t as I’d prefer (thin and crispier than I like my sourdough) and thought the child’s pasta was very poor in terms of cost/size/value. £7.50 for a pretty tiny portion of what appears to be penne and shop bought tomato sauce. I will give kudos for being given cheese when I asked it for it at no extra cost though. There are independent venues in Bristol with better kids meals for sure. It’s just a huge shame as after visiting the wardrobe theatre this is the ideal place to stop. Would happily come back for a drink though (great roof terrace) and to try small plates.

Lovely place and great staff. We got here early for a show (The Great Big Dinosaur Show) so that we could get a bite to eat and a drink. What a great decision! We had pizza, and it was amazing! The staff were very friendly and helpful. A very good selection of drinks on draught is available at the bar. The show was also brilliant, by the way.

We enjoyed a delicious Christmas menu roast here in December, the beef brisket in particular was amazing. Loved the idea of sharing starters and desserts, all cooked really well and great flavour combinations. Had been wanting to try for ages and it lived up to expectations! Very good service and a cool interior too. Highly recommend!

Had our company Christmas party there and the service and food was fantastic. People really enjoyed the bustling atmosphere and the cocktails were delicious - genuinely a great, sustainable and ethical choice of a venue, which is rare even in these parts!

Lovely large venue with a variety of books and crannies to hole up in for the night, as well as wide open expanses for the more adventurous evenings when a band is playing. Throw in an amazing theater at the back, delicious food, charming staff and you get The Assembly x

I like this bar a lot, but sadly, as with many places their veggie meal is too small in comparison to the meat. Veggie food is less dense than pure meat. Add more.

Alway count on this place for good atmosphere drinks and food.

Being the start of the Christmas Party Season the dining room was packed with a few large tables and several smaller ones. We were a birthday party of 14 and were shown to the side room. I have to say that we were packed in like sardines, but we had a great deal of fun! Considering how busy it was we were served, and recieved our food in good time. The food was excellent. We also enjoyed cocktails, wine and local ale, all of which were top quality. All in all a good time was had by all!

Great place for s Sunday roast. Great choice and most importantly there are gluten free options. And their Bloody Mary is a must. Highly recommend.

Went to Northern Soul night here the atmosphere was fantastic and great to see people of all ages enjoying themselves. People are friendly, welcoming and actually smile at you!

Saw a show, would definitely go again

This is a truly amazing and dynamic business. Excellent food from the predominantly Spanish kitchen team, excellent service and company values supporting local people and enterprise, sustainability of supply and a serious push to minimise Carbon emissions. Add to that its deserved reputation for booking first class acts, Mad Professor and Dele Sosime being just 2 recently examples, and the tune Wardrobe Theatre at the back, really make this s must-go-to destination.

Was such a shame, 2nd time we’ve been so invited family along. 4 x roast dinners all cold. All we were offered was for them to be warmed back up again. Gave puddings a go, 3 sticky toffee puddings, all came out cold, they were taken away and clearly just microwaved for us because one of them was cold, one warm and one piping hot when they came back. Food had some nice flavours, but it wasn’t somewhere I would recommend. We were offered a free round of drinks as an apology which were forgotten about and they got those wrong! All in all not a great lunch.

The Sunday roast was a triumph. One of the finest roast pork belly dishes I've had and the trimmings were marvelous...although a fellow diner thought she could make better potatoes although I've never had amazing potatoes in any Sunday pub lunch

Food good, nice vibe, erratic service, probably just a busy night. Wardrobe is fabulous. Never had a dull moment there.

Beautiful venue, and delicious food! Perfect for first dates imo. We had pizza andsome starters. The dough was really tasty# really professional.

I came in, not for food or drink, but because it was late, I had a long cycle ahead of me, a very flat tyre and no bike pump. A bar tender came out to lend me a pump and a hand. What a community hero.

Service was ok, not really enough staff for the amount of tables. We got 2 different pizzas, the tomato sauce was so acidic with no flavour except the flavour of tomato puree. The toppings were very minimal and flavourless, and there was hardly any cheese . Overall a pretty disappointing eating experience for the money.

Very strong roast and friendly service.

This have been our go-to Sunday roast place. It has friendly people and delicious roasts. We normally get the pig Sunday roast which has crispy crackling with all the delicious sides. Unfortunately, yesterday, the crackling was chewy and gummy with the potatoes being burnt. We asked whether there were new chefs or new suppliers. Apparently, there are 2 new chefs. So we paid and went on our way. I'll take a break from Sunday roasts from here for a while until they get back to their consistently delicious Sunday pork roast.

Great venue for the random intimate shows. £10 for a coke and pint of beer. On another level of unreasonable expense.

Went with a group of colleagues to have pizza before visiting the theatre. Even having pre-ordered the pizza they managed to forget two pizzas, then when they arrived after everyone had finished, they brought the wrong ones. Once I finally got my chefs special surprise pizza, I was disappointed to get a Hawaiian pizza with chillis for £16.5. Had to rush to finish it to not miss the theatre. Unfortunately disappointing experience.

I am coeliac so have to be careful where I eat. I also have other dietary restrictions. I called up beforehand to check everything would be ok and was handed to the actual chef, which was awesome. I was so excited that they had a pizza I could eat (butternut squash puree in place of marinara sauce is inspired in my opinion). It was really yummy and enough to fill 2 of us up. I would have quite liked to be able to order a side salad or coleslaw and sweet potato fries with it but that's just me. My only complaint (not really a complaint) is that the chairs at the table we were initially seated at were too high for me and, being wooden without a cushion, would have given me numb legs if I had stayed there. We just skipped across to another table as it wasn't too busy and the staff were totally cool with that so it was all fine but some cushions might be nice anyway. All in all it was a great experience and I defo plan to return so please keep the butternut squash option on the menu! I don't know why I look like I am about to kill someone in the picture - I was actually very happy

Fantastic pub and theatre, really well set out with lots of leg room in the theatre. Everyone is really friendly and welcoming there, they serve locally produced beer and food. The opstairs seating area is comfortable. Definitely recommend this for something to eat, have a casual drink and or watch a theatre performance. Roast is also amazing, so tasty. Had the pork belly, roast potatoes were crispy and soft in the middle. Veg and cauliflower cheese were amazing. Pork belly was delicious and tender. Yorkshire was a bit too crispy and could have done with a bit more gravy, but otherwise a fantastic roast .

I left feeling hungry after having the roast beef that cost £17.50. The beef is advertised as being served pink but was quite well done. £1 charge for Yorkshires if ordering a vegetarian option. £4.30 for a lemonade and cranberry juice. Improvements needed…

Vibes and atmosphere were great. Hip and cool spot in a beautiful building. This review is mostly just for the gluten free pizza. The crust was pretty tasty: lots of tapioca starch gives it a chew on which I enjoy, cooked well enough to be crunchy. My main complaint is that there was no cheese, and it looked like someone made it with a blindfold. I don’t consider myself picky, but I challenge you to look at the photo I took of my pizza and tell me that you think the creator ever laid eyes on it. There just ain’t a chance. No cheese, a negligible number of minuscule slices of onion, and ditto for the bacon. I’m sure their other pizzas are better, and mine was made in a rush, but cmon. Neapolitan is one thing, but this ain’t that. Just throw the dang cheese on please. I paid £16.50 for a tomato flatbread that took 45 minutes to arrive. Once again, sure, an outlier, but let this bear witness to the existence of the sham of a pie I received. Someone made this, someone baked this, someone served this, and never once did any of them question: does this pizza look appetizing?

Great food good beer lovely space

Had a great time watching the Muppets show, the actors were absolutely brilliant, rated 4 because although the show was great,the seats were not very comfortable at all, very narrow and very hard, and not very spacious, felt quite crammed. I can understand it's an independent theatre but there surely has to be a way to make those seats more comfortable. I mean I absolutely loved the show,the atmosphere was great, the staff weren't bad. I just simply wouldn't return literally due to the seating in the theater, otherwise can't fault on anything else. Had a brilliant time

We had a vegan roast meal and it was amazing. The food was beautifully served, tasted amazing and the service was excellent. Great staff, great atmosphere, would highly recommend. Thank you Amelia and staff.

Lovely venue, with flags to show enthusiastic LGBTQIA+ support. I found it a bit difficult with my wheelchair. Lovely staff, lovely food, and the wardrobe theatre was cute.
