First time coming here for a lunch booking with my boyfriend , greeting was warm at the door and the young waitress kindly took our coats for us. Food was amazing!! Get the Korean sticky chicken for starter 😍fish was fresh and cooked to perfection and big portions which was a pleasant surprise for a higher end place, although they didn’t ask my boyfriend how he wanted his steak cooked so was a little well done for his liking but he said it was still super tasty. Service was very friendly throughout although there was a couple little things that seemed unusual. For example the water was poured for us and they took the jug away but then never came back to refill even though it wasn’t busy, just something to bear in mind as felt like the servers could be a little bit hotter on this or just keep jug on table so people don’t feel left without . The same again with not asking us if our food was okay until we had nearly finished which again seemed a little inattentive for this type of restaurant. However these are not big deals at all and overall everyone/everything was great, a little expensive but great value for money and would definitely come back ,

We had a wonderful high tea experience at The River Grille. The service was exceptional, and the food was outstanding—every bite was delicious. Ate here last night, service was slow, staff were unattentive, had to call them over to get refills of water, ordered additional drinks from the bar and they were completely forgotten. Lights at the rear of the room kept flashing. Food was great, but not excellent. Redeeming feature was the live pianist who was very talented.

We were passing by and noticed a board outside with a lunch menu. We have enjoyed dinner here on many occasions, but it has not previously been open for lunch. My partner had a haddock dish, which was excellent and I had a smoked salmon sandwich, which was ideal for lunch. We shared a dessert and really enjoyed our lunchtime visit. The staff were all excellent.

Excellent food. The ribeye steak was as good as I have had in steak houses, especially with the peppercorn sauce and portobello mushrooms. Service was very friendly and efficient. We never felt rushed. Thanks to Daisy who looked after us.

We had a wonderful early supper here on a Sunday night before a show. The food was excellent was a family meal and all the staff were so professional and friendly. Would not hesitate to go again when we are next in Bristol. It was well priced for such a good location plus it was lovely and light with all the glass on a very grey rainy day. During my visit, I noticed that one waitress in particular, responsible for greeting customers and presenting food, had a very familiar approach. She even called me "my love", which, although it may have sounded friendly, crossed the line into professionalism. As for the dish I ordered, a fish, it was far too expensive for what I received. Indeed, it was more like a vegetable dish than a fish dish, which made the experience even more disappointing. This combination of over-familiarity and unsatisfactory value for money leads me to believe that I will never return to this restaurant.

My fiancé surprised me by inviting me to this lovely restaurant, where he proposed with the invaluable help of the staff. They were incredibly attentive, meticulous, and focused on every detail to ensure a perfect and unforgettable evening. The food was delicious, and the wine recommendation was excellent. Special thanks to Javier, who went above and beyond to help us create lasting memories of the night. We will definitely come back to our happy place.

The food was very tasty and the portions big enough. The soup I had for starter could be easily served as a main. The catch of the day was mussels in curry sauce and my wife considers it as one of the best mussel dishes she ever had! The cheese cake l had as a dessert was outstanding and is highly recommended. The staff were extremely friendly. Only minus was a noticeable delay between starter and main.

The Restaurant Manager, Jo, really tried her best but she was let down by the obvious inexperience of her staff. We were a table of 6, the first four main courses came out and we were left for nearly ten minutes before the last two arrived before we could all start. There seemed to be confusion with regards to the vegetables and where they should be placed. The roast potatoes were the worse I have ever experienced as they were overcooked and probably being kept warm by some form of heat lamp. I am glad that a steak knife was supplied for the beef or we could not have cut them. The roast beef was excellent, credit where it is due. Its really sad as my wife was celebrating her 60th Birthday and chose the River Griile, we will not be returning.

What a lovely dinner we had at The River Grille celebrating a wedding anniversary. The food was delicious (we had steak), and the atmosphere was lovely with a live pianist adding to the already beautiful surroundings of the restaurant and the waterside view. The service from Javier was attentive and friendly and having booked through the First Table app, the bill was well priced too. I look forward to returning to try the seafood main course.

The restaurant is in Bristol Harbour, the view was pleasant especially as we had a window seat. A pianist played throughout our meal, which was very pleasant. The food was amazing and the staff friendly , especially Ian, who was both professional and polite.

Linguine with crab was superb as we scallops as a starter. Service was delivered by Ian with a great sense of humour. Advise and opinion was asked for and given and the enhanced the experience very well. Overall a great experience.

We ate here whilst resident at the hotel and so had a meal as part of the package at a discounted rate. I was pleased about this as whilst the meal was fine, it didn't really live up to the ambiance and price. The restauarant FEELS really good with a riverside view and linen napkins etc. It is well staffed but in such an environment you'd hope the staff would top up your glass even if you are only having tap water whereas we had to ask for the bottle to be left on the table. Minor quibble, I know. We had the bread and oil with balsamic to start. Our server warned us that the bread was enough for two and it surely was. The two breads were really heavy and we really didn't want much of them, although the focaccia was lighter. Hubby struglles to get any taste of balsamic and felt the oil was perhaps too heavy. His steak was ok but a bit chewy, and the server failed to register that he had asked for brocolli. My vegan option was very colourful (lurid) but not really to my taste (poor choice on my part if I'm honest). At breakfast the next day hubby saw a young waitress being reprimanded for nor laying the table correctly, but perhaps more emphasis should be put on both quality of food/cooking, and also giving a warm and personal service. Nothing terribly wrong with it but disappointing for the price. Disabled access from the hotel looks to be very tricky and the loos are up steps too.

The staff are so friendly and welcoming here. It's a shame that I forgot her name as she introduced herself and told us shes going to be our waiter for the evening which was really refreshing. Food is so tasty aswell, we ordered the scallops, chicken Milanese, lamb and the burnt basque cheesecakes. They also gave us some complimentary canape's to start with which was really nice of them.

Stayed at The Bristol hotel for business and had dinner in The River Grille. Food was fantastic and the service from Amie was brilliant! Nothing was too much trouble for her and she made our evening 🩷 will definitely be back for dinner again.

Came here for my birthday with a friend and I had found a deal via first table. The interior was beautiful, the service was good ( although I did have to ask a couple times for water - it was a warm day and I was quite thirsty, I should have asked them to leave the jug at the table to be honest). The drinks and food were good, the only thing was the triple cooked chips which I expected to be super crispy - just tasted like soft fried chips, a bit on the over cooked side. They had a made a macaron and berry dessert plate as a surprise for my birthday which was a super lovely gesture. I'd definitely come again some day to try other things from the menu as the ambience and service was good!

We were a large party of 21 and we cannot fault the service we received. From when we booked the communication was excellent and we pre-ordered our meals which came out spot on! We went to Sunday lunch celebrating a 90th birthday and we cannot fault the management and waiting staff for making us feel extremely welcome. Nothing was too much trouble! Would wholly recommend!

First time at the River Grille for dinner with a colleague. My choice of king prawn starters, medium rare steak with new potatoes and vegetables was cooked to perfection, and the Basque cheesecake with some superb clotted cream ice cream rounded off a most excellent meal. Although a reasonably quiet night, the atmosphere was good, and we were served very graciously by Vanessa who was cheerful, polite and attentive, and overall a great credit to the River Grille team. Thank you for a great dining experience.

The two things that make this place special is the charming attentive staff and the beautiful food. I had asparagus with poached egg and hollandaise for starters and it was so fresh and delicious. My sea bass main was delayed but the staff were lovely about that and when it came it was simply wow! Absolutely first class dining Elegant refined yet simple classic flavours. Loved it! Thanks to all the staff especially Bobby.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The River Grille and I must say, the experience was exceptional. From the moment I walked in, the service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure a memorable evening. The highlight of the evening was definitely the food. The oysters were incredibly fresh and flavorful, a perfect start to our meal. Each dish that followed was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. I also want to give a special mention to the manager, Bruno, who made our visit even more special. His professionalism and warm hospitality truly stood out and added to the overall fantastic experience. I will definitely be returning to The River Grille. This place has set a new standard for dining out, and I can't wait for my next visit.

Me and my wife had a great evening here welcome was very nice and waiter was very helpful and could not help enough , food was amazing small choice but I think that is good . Had a great option for my wife as she is coeliac I had French onion soup for starters and I have had this at Hotel Du Vin and this was so much better the view is nice as you look out over the docks would recommend to anyone .

Overall this experience was okay but not worth the associated cost. Positives: the scones were really and the tea was good as well. Negatives: the Bread for a majority of the sandwiches seemed stale and some of the cakes were dry. Also felt very watched by the waiting staff for the duration of our visit and our interactions with them felt awkward rather than professional. Probably wouldn’t go again.

We had an excellent meal on our recent visit. All the food was lovely, high quality and cooked perfectly. The bread board is definitely a recommendation, 3 different varieties of bread, all lovely and lots of it! One of the best bread selections we’ve had in a while. The atmosphere was lovely, it was great in the sun too, a nice place to have some food in a relaxing atmosphere and watch people go past the harbour. Service was great too and everyone was professional and polite. Will definitely be back again.

What a find, absolutely amazing food, outstanding waiting staff to match the quality food and dining 10/10 experience' from the moment arriving to leaving, great attention and care to ensure customer satisfaction to the highest standard. I Had an amazing time with my partner. It was his birthday and they brought out a card and a plate with happy birthday on with macaroons and fruit to end the desert which was amazing. I visited Bristol to see my best friend, whom I've known for over 20 years. We had a great time with our families on Valentine's Day at River Grille. The atmosphere was cozy, the food was delicious, and our server, Nicole, provided excellent service all night. The tomahawk steak we had tonight was amazing, and we'll definitely come back to this restaurant the next time we're in Bristol. I highly recommend it.

Date of visit 15 January 2024 This was my second visit to The River Grille. We had family visiting Bristol and we were happy to find ourselves in the same inviting atmosphere again. It was a quiet Monday evening, the soft ambient lighting allowed us to enjoy each other's company and conversation without feeling isolated. The food was again wonderful and expertly prepared to our tastes. What really made the evening for us all was Angelas impeccable service. She attended to our every need with grace and warmth. Her knowledge of the menu allowed her to meet our requests with a smile, and that each dish could be tailored to our preferences. She also took the time to engage with us, showing a personal interest and recommendations, her genuine friendly and warmth attitude added to the enjoyment. We left feeling grateful for the wonderful memories created on our evening together. We can't wait for our next visit

We ate here as we're staying in the hotel and it proved to be a good option. The service on the night was excellent but more importantly the help that they provided in advance was superb reassurance on an allergy plus managing an eating problem due to illness. The room itself was lovely and overlooks the river (the clue is in I the name). All food was nice though nothing special it was the care they took that made it a great night for us. OK wine list. Lots of birthdays in the room.

A group of us had a delicious Sunday lunch here last weekend. The food was absolutely delicious, three courses are priced at a very reasonable £30 per person. The roast beef and all the trimmings were certainly the main attraction! The restaurant is in a beautiful location along the harbourside, and the sunset and live piano music made it all the better! A massive thanks must be said to Bobby who was attentive and so friendly all afternoon.

Terrific afternoon tea! Our friend gifted us a £50 voucher which bought an afternoon tea for two. Calm, lovely atmosphere in the restaurant with a beautiful view of the harbour side and delicious, light cakes. Service was fantastic too. Only thing I’d say is the food boxes to take extras away were very small and you could only fit one or two cakes in each one.

Today myself and my sister had a fantastic sunday lunch where Vanessa and Nicole took care of us from start to finish. I cannot thank them enough for their service it was some of the best i have recieved anywhere. We were pleasantly shocked at the quality of food and the incredible atmosphere created with the live piano player and cannot believe this place was not fully booked up. There was an incredibly rude lady on a table for 3 who spend her whole meal complaining about how she had to reach for potato's and how heo potatoes were too crispy. We felt incredibly sorry for her family having to know such a Karen like her. She was incredibly entitled and rude to the service staff and her complaints were invalid and frankly embarrassing. She even felt a discount on her meal was not fair which frankly she didnt deserve. It was in no way the restraunts fault and should not reflect on them Although the price being slightly higher than other venues may put you off this is represented in the quality of the staff, service, food and location. The portion sizes were also generous and presented well. We both felt it was one of the best sunday dinners we have experienced in years and iwill be returning with my husband to be in the future even though i am far from a local. Thankyou again for a wonderful meal!

Service was friendly and the waitress was knowledgable on the menu. Ordered the lobster, but unfortunately was disappointed by a lack of taste or any flavour at all despite looking presentable accompanied by a small portion for a half a lobster (about 5 bites) as well as the food coming out not very hot. The steak was also tasteless even paired with the sauces peppercorn and cafe de Paris. For the price you pay for the meals it was overall quite disproportionate. We told staff about our experience and were offered a free dessert although still left feeling hungry.
