Low Lights was great - the food was tasty and fresh, the staff were really friendly. We visited with our 3 yr old son and our dog and were welcomed in with no trouble. Kids portion was giant but our boy gave it a good go! We’re big fans of Sam Fender so just had to visit the pub whilst we were in the area (we live in Hastings) and how good to see the Brit award in centre stage behind the bar as a beer pump! Next time we’re in the North we’ll be back for sure.

We chanced upon this lovely coffee house today for breakfast. Staff were welcoming and took our order wyicjly. Food took a little while to come, but it was obviously all cooked fresh, so that was OK. I had a vegetarian and my husband had farmers breakfast. We both really enjoyed our breakfasts. Our dog was also welcomed with a treat. Had lovely time and lovely to read about the history.

A very decent Sunday lunch. My wife had the roast lamb, while I had the mixed roast. I could have done with a little more meat and a bit less apple sauce, but the meat was cooked very nicely and the beef and lamb had the right level of pinkness. Highlights for me were the Yorkshire pudding and the red cabbage. Also liked the fact that, as I'm allergic to red wine, the waiter/owner/chef swapped the standard gravy for a vegan gravy which apparently was red-wine-free. We'd planned to have a pudding but decided against it as when the England v Italy match came on to the TV, the volume was pumped up to 100 (seriously) on the screen just by our table. We fully understood why, but the volume made it impossible to chat so we headed off. A good place for a Sunday lunch though.

We visited The Castle Inn soon after new management had talen over. What a great job they have done. The menu is brilliant. What a fantastic choice of dishes. The chefs certainly know what they are doing! The service was great. Nothing too much trouble. We will be back soon.

Lovely meal tonight, I had the mussels to start followed by the Monk fish Thai curry & my husband had the tiger prawns and ribs. Both meals were delicious and we had very prompt service. For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding & white chocolate & raspberry profiteroles, both were very nice. Great view over Weymouth harbour and a warm friendly atmosphere. We will be back!

We had booked, on walking in it didn’t feel like it used to. Eaten here many times and had some lovely meals but tonight was the last time we will visit. Staff friendly and one of the female bar staff was quite apologetic and concerned. Ordered two black pudding stacks it was tasty but the poached egg on top was over cooked and not looking too good. Black pudding over cooked and crispy. We managed to eat it. Mains a rolled pork loin with black pudding and apple sauce. Sauce terrible and the pork that was advertised as pan fried had never seen a frying pan as a result the pork was very tough and difficult to even cut. Mine was a 4 hour slow cooked lamb the shame of it the meat was a good quality but had never seen 4 hours in the oven or maybe they forgot to turn it on. It was maybe cooked in an air fryer or cooked fast in the oven I had to ask for a steak knife to try and eat it. I was so disappointed. We told the waitress we were disappointed and she shrugged her shoulders when I said we won’t be back she said that’s up to you! I said not quite the right attitude as she walked into the kitchen. The other poor waitress was mortified she was sent to say sorry by the cook but really the cook should have come and said sorry herself. We were offered a replacement but we had waited quite a while for this and no course had shown promise so declined. They did remove the two mains from the bill. What a real shame

I booked a table for four to celebrate our good friends Ruby Wedding. I pre ordered bread, olives, glasses of Prosecco to have while we looked at the menu. On arrival I gave my name in and the lovely lady took us into the lounge where everything was brought to us. The bread, oil, hummus and olives were excellent. We choose our starters and mains. Three of us had scallops and for mains us ladies had fillet steaks and the lads had herb crusted cod and the bestro salmon. The food was excellent scallops were very tasty, our steak were cooked perfectly and the lads totally enjoyed there meals. We finished off with coffee for the lads and expresso martinis. I must say this is a beautiful restaurant. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help. The reception team are also brilliant they emailed me to check what I wanted for our arrival. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to everyone. It’s nice to have such a good restaurant near to where we live. I noticed people complaining about cost, my view is if the food is this good it’s worth the money. Thank you Melbreak for a lovely evening of celebration.

My husband and I came on Saturday, eagerly looking forward to a lovely meal at 4.15. Service was excellent as always and we had prawn cocktail and sticky chipotle chicken for starters. Excellent! With our bottle of Cardonnay chilling nicely we looked forward to our steaks. They arrived not long after our starter plates were cleared. Husband ordered Rib eye. I had ordered Sirloin. All the accompaniments were lovely but I found my steak to be rather gristly and quite bloody for medium. Im wondering if I was served a Rump by mistake? I should have really sent it back but when I gave up half way through, my husband said he would finish it off. He said it was "ok" Its put us off returning which is a shame as I think its a lovely place with excellent serving staff but when the bill came in at £92....its not worrh risking again.
