What a lovely place! Being my first time in London, I had to try and afternoon tea service, & Candella didn't disappoint! The inside was full, so I accepted the outside patio seating. It was chilly & they offered me a blanket, which I thought was cute & it definitely helped. The whole set-up was gorgeous, & all food items were very tasty. I bought additional scones with strawberry jam & clotted cream to go, because they were absolutely delicious! The inside, although small, was very cozy & pretty. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. Last, but definitely not least, the staff was very sweet & on top of everything. A spot opened up inside & they asked the folks outside if they wanted to move in, which I feel was thoughtful. The items I ordered came out quickly & I found the prices to be excellent, especially compared to similar experiences. Highly recommend!

Fuimos a tomar el clásico Afternoon Tea. La experiencia fue excelente, tanto por la comida servida como por la atención del personal y las instalaciones del lugar. El precio pagado fue de 25 libras por personas, lo cual nos resultó muy bueno en cuanto a la relación calidad / precio. El lugar es pequeño pero acogedor y fuimos con reserva que sacamos en la pagina web del lugar. Si bien no se encuentra en una zona "super turística" de Londres, combinamos la visita con Kensigton Gardens que está relativamente cerca.

It's strongly advised to make a reservation. It's a small place with few tables. We got a table near the window, which was great. We had the afternoon tea and it was delicious! Price is normal compared to other places. The only negative thing is that they brought us the wrong tea and also the teapot was cracked and chipped. A bit more attention from the staff is needed.

The “Candella Tea Room” located near Kensington Palace is an elegant and authentic British tea room. It specializes in afternoon tea, loose tea, brunch, scones and other baked goods. It has more than 30 kinds of tea and homemade cakes. It is the best choice to enjoy traditional British afternoon tea. The store is very elegant and has a classic British style. The various baked cakes, cups, plates and utensils that you can see make the store very atmospheric. Since there are not many places in the store, we had to make a reservation in advance to get a seat and come early in the morning to enjoy British brunch. I ordered the most classic eggs Benedict, topped with thick hollandaise sauce, which was very beautiful visually. There were also fruit waffles, hot waffles, etc., with English breakfast tea and Earl Gray tea. I drank the tea with an elegant bone china cup set. The texture was really improved a lot, and the whole person became more elegant. Candella's English three-tiered afternoon tea is also great. If you have the opportunity to visit the UK, you must take the time to taste the elegant English brunch or afternoon tea. Came yesterday for my 19th birthday with my mum at 3.30 booking , we got there a little early but staff let us come in and were absolutely lovely and attentive. Very chatty making you feel so welcome. Place was stunning and afternoon tea was amazing would recommend over and over , thank you for the wonderful visit.

It’s really delicious. I went there more than 10 times while I was an exchange student… There is no jab at the famous place in Soho. If you want something a little crunchy, go to Muffin Man, and if you like something with a strong buttery texture on the outside, go to Candela! It was my first time trying afternoon tea in the UK, and my sister worked hard to make a reservation so I was able to go. There were always a lot of people and the seats weren't wide, but the tea set was reasonably priced, I drank Darjeeling, the tea was delicious, and all the food was delicious. The staff were also really friendly. This is a place I want to go again next time. If you come to the UK, I recommend stopping by at least once! I want to eat scones here again... It was really delicious...~~

A really lovely tea room ! We had the Afternoon tea and everything was delicious! The service was welcoming and warm, we really appreciate it. My advice is to book in advance to be sure to be seated inside but it's totally worth it! I totally recommend it over other high price Afternoon tea places.

All very good. However, one of the waiters seemed a bit snotty to me. At first I didn't hear him well when he greeted me and I thought he had asked me if I had a reservation, to which I said yes and gave him my name. Then he greeted me again emphatically and I realized I didn't hear him correctly and I waved back and apologized. He responded "thank you" with a somewhat raised tone as if to say "let's see if we're polite." The truth is that the British have always seemed polite and correct without being arrogant, but this one seemed a bit that way to me. I am an educated person and I don't need anyone to lecture me. Then he began to focus on the way to drink the tea, I had a genmaicha and I didn't want to use the filter, since I like grains of rice to fall on me and I don't mind eating some. Well he came and put the filter in my cup. In the end I had the feeling that they were watching me to see if I drank it according to their standards or not. It's fine that they give me suggestions but I decide how I want to taste the 🍵. Of course, everything seemed delicious to me and the attention of the other waiter was exquisite. But for everything else I can't give it a 5.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Candella Tea Room. We had to book approximately 2 months in advance to secure a 4 person table in the weekend just after the new year but it was well worth the wait! I cannot fault anything about our experience here and we will be returning again!

Good price for afterno0on tea in London, and easily as good as higher end locations. We ate at 2pm and getting a reservation was simple. Simple and quaint shop with very homey (in a good way) decor. Service was good and prompt and very friendly. The only downside for me was the amount of trash in cans right outside the from door, kind of took away from the atmosphere. i would do tea here again.

Very lovely place! It's a small tea room and booking is almost mandatory but we were lucky to find a table and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea. The guys are amazing and very kind, they welcomed us warmly, seated us at a nice table set with taste. The tea was served in two nice pots and was enough for 4 tea cups each, the sandwiches, scones and cakes were served on a tower of plates between us. We enjoyed the tuna sandwich and the egg sandwich more, but the others were good too (salmon, ham & cheese, veg), the scones were perfect with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and the cakes were amazing. The price was really good, we spent about 27£ each but compared to what we eat/drink and how we have been treated it's really a low price.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful tea time here. Their afternoon tea is much better than the one at The Ritz—no kidding! We just had afternoon tea at The Ritz three days ago. Of course, The Ritz offers more luxurious interiors, atmosphere, and restrooms. However, the food here is more delicious, and the prices are much more reasonable. The staff here doesn’t wear a suit, but he is very nice and enthusiastic.

I've been trying to book a table for a long time but I couldn't, however we decided to dare to pass by and maybe the miracle happened. Firstly the place is extremely small so I understood why I couldn't find a table available almost two months in advance. We had some of the most pleasant experiences because we wanted to experience it like English people. Let's drink our tea and more! The girl at the service was very helpful and we thank her because we had many questions about the afternoon tea. The scones were the highlight! Very tasty! Definitely go if you're looking for a similar experience.

The price of afternoon tea here is considered quite decent for London at <£30 per person. There is a nice selection of savoury and sweet items on the platter, as well as an interesting array of tea choices. The tea room is charming, although considerably tight and too intimate for my liking. Definitely make a reservation, especially if you want to sit inside and not have your afternoon tea out in the cold.

I booked in advance for two people. Great scones, decent cake, however poor customer service from one particular staff. We were rushed throughout our experience which we ordered two afternoon tea set. The other tables stayed for more than an hour but no one said anything. Please mind you only get the table for ONE hour, despite it being afternoon tea. I've been to many great places such as the Ivy but at Candella i've felt more unwelcome than ever.

I visited without a reservation and asked if I wanted to try the afternoon tea set, and I was grateful that they agreed to it. The scones were delicious. There was a Victoria cake person and a raspberry cake person, but the difference between them is a mystery. Mine was raspberry :)

This is hands down the best tea room I’ve been to in London. It is so quaint and the ambience is so cozy. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive - the service is exceptional. Not even to mention the excellent tea menu (cream earl grey was fantastic) and incredibly tasty afternoon tea sandwiches, scones, and dessert. Absolutely a must visit but make sure to make a reservation early!

I ordered takeout scones, but they also served clotted cream and jam. The staff was very nice and even explained how to eat it.

We celebrated my birthday there and it was a good experience. A cozy little room where we sat close, but charmingly decorated. We got a nice set up with nice little sandwiches and lovely cakes. In addition, we each chose our own tea, which was really good. We each got a jug. The one waiter was really sweet, smiling, service minded, nice, charming and friendly. The other was pretty much the opposite. We didn't see him smile and he also didn't wince at a nice tip. We didn't manage to get a farewell greeting either, but it was still a good experience for us.

When I tried to make a reservation on the same day on a weekday, they told me to call, so I couldn't, so they said the last order was at 17:00, so I went 10 minutes before 17:00 to see if I could have cream tea if there was room. I went into the store and was standing there, but there was no guidance when I saw it, so I stopped talking and saw a seat without a reservation, but a young woman said that I didn't have a reservation and that orders were closed (I think she spoke too fast and spoke British English, but I didn't understand her). There was an hour left until closing, so I thought I could just have a quick scone, but since they said they only had takeout, I bought a small cheesecake, scone, and tea. The scones were delicious. When I looked at the store, everyone was having afternoon tea and there were a lot of people coming at 5 o'clock as well. I want to make a reservation next time and eat properly.

Il locale è una chicca. Essendo molto piccolo la disponibilità finisce in fretta percui bisogna prenotare con anticipo. Noi non eravamo riuscite a prenotare ma con un po' di attesa ci hanno fatte accomodare in uno dei 4 tavolini all'esterno. Il personale è gentile, attento e competente. Il rapporto qualità prezzo è molto buono e la posizione è abbastanza comoda, poco dopo Kensington garden. Se vuoi, compreso nel prezzo, puoi chiedere un refill di acqua calda, panna e marmellata per gli scones. Le tazze, le teiere e le posate sono tutte molto caratteristiche, e anche molto spaiate creando un effetto "Alice nel paese delle meraviglie" che ti dà l'idea di essere a tavola con il cappellaio matto. Noi non mangiamo carne e chiedendo ci hanno riadattato i tramezzini in modo da togliere quelli col prosciutto e metterne di più degli altri gusti. La quantità di cibo è abbondante, infatti per noi è stato un pranzo, dato che era già mezzogiorno. Ci tornerei decisamente, è stata proprio una bella esperienza :-)

Cute very small tea rooms, two main menu items: cream tea (scones and tea) or full afternoon tea. They also have few cakes and other desserts on the counter to choose from. The place is lovely, the staff are extremely attentive, and the scones were served warm and super delicious. There are very few tables, however, when I came on weekend morning I noticed there were some available tables without reservation for the early comers.

Place discovered by chance, magical place, scones to die for, extremely pleasant, smiling and generous staff! Need to book because it fills up quickly but you can take away (they even allowed me to take scones before opening time so as not to miss my train!). I highly recommend!!

I've been wanting to go for a long time and made a reservation about a month in advance! It was a small and cute cafe. The service was very kind and we had a wonderful afternoon tea time♪ The sandwiches and cakes were delicious. We wanted to eat the Victoria cake, so it was a shame that it wasn't on our plate...the tables on either side of us had Victoria cakes on it.

What a brilliant little find! Excellent sandwiches (including a hot croque monsieur!), absolutely perfect scones and a delicious array of cakes. Plus a big pot of tea each. And sooooo much more reasonable in price than some of the “fancier” restaurants and hotels. Highly recommend

07/10/2024 We wanted to try the tea experience without spending a fortune and here at the Candella tea room we found what we were looking for. Informal but sober environment, antique furnishings, mismatched but beautiful tea sets, small venue (reservation recommended), absolutely warm and welcoming atmosphere. It feels like entering grandma's living room and having tea with her in a familiar environment. There is a very kind Italian boy who is perfect for those of us who are not very familiar with English. A 3-tier cake stand, with scoones with raisins and without (among the best I've ever eaten), various types of sandwiches, clotted cream, jam and sweets, each different from the other, a wide selection of teas, around £25 per person. Would we stay here again? Absolutely yes!!! P.S for those who want to try the experience but don't like tea, you can opt for a glass of prosecco for around £7 more. We were supposed to pick up some scoones to take away but unfortunately we didn't have time anymore, we'll do it again on our next trip to London.

I popped in here last minute after a visit to Kensington palace (5 mins walk away). They were fully booked indoors but it was a nice day and outside you can get a small table without reservation. I wanted to do a proper afternoon tea while in London and considered lots of the fancier places but I am SO glad I happened upon Candella and just went for it here instead. First of all, the food was actually delicious. The vanilla scones and cream were divine. Some tasty sandwiches and really yummy desserts (cheesecake bites and chocolate mousse cake were my faves). Second, the tea was so good. I am not a tea fan but I drank my entire pot of tea. Spiced apple flavor. And last, it is so much cheaper than many other places - around $20-25 a person. It was perfect amount of food. We walked out full.

What a wonderful experience. Eamon went above and beyond to make every single customer feel comfortable and looked after - with an infectious smile on his face the entire time. Not only that, the afternoon tea itself was OUTSTANDING. So affordable for what you get, and everything was SO delicious! The first place where racism occurred in London. Koreans should really read this... I stayed in London for a few months and went to various restaurants and cafes, but this was my first time experiencing something like this. The black employee said in other reviews that he talked a lot, but first of all, he spoke so fast on purpose that I couldn't understand him at all, and when he said he couldn't understand you because you spoke so fast, he spoke even faster and got angry lol. In the end, the British person waiting behind me ‘spoke slowly on my behalf’ so I understood. This is obvious racism. There are many places that basically speak slowly to non-English speaking customers, and even if they don't, if you tell them you're speaking fast, they will always say it again slowly. However, since black people intentionally spoke faster, it was clearly racist. The black man even got angry and yelled at me. The situation was no different for other employees. It's ridiculous that another customer helps me instead. As you can see when you visit here, 80% of the customers are Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Asian. Should we go and spend money on treating Asians, our largest customers, so poorly? There are many other similar afternoon tea restaurants. please! please refer to this.

Thanks to Lorenzo's kind hospitality, I was able to enjoy my first afternoon tea in London! I heard that it is difficult to get in without a reservation because it is a famous place, but I was lucky enough to make a reservation for a same-day visit. The tea is great and the scones are savory and delicious! The bathroom was clean and nice too.

Not only that, the service from the staff, the food, and the cleanliness are all of the highest quality. You can choose from a wide variety of teas, all of which are included in the price of the afternoon tea. The scones were fluffy and crispy, and the clotted cream was delicious. The kindness of the staff left a very good impression. I'd like to go again.

It was a beautiful experience, the service was excellent as was the food. The local is small and it was warm but then the air conditioned was on. I highly recommend this place for a good example of a friendly place

Just arrived in town today and chose the afternoon tea as our big meal of the day. So lovely! Candella is a charming and lovely and cozy spot for tea and treats. The afternoon tea is worth every penny and incredibly reasonably priced. Both the savory and sweet items were delectable and filling and true tea time classics. Do reserve as people who wanted walk-ins had to be turned away.

Visit on Wednesday 2024.08.21 Finally, afternoon tea in London...lol Before going to London, I was looking for a place with good value and found it... It's near Kensington Palace. If you let your guard down, you won't be able to reserve the date you want... haha In the end, I tried to match the reservation time during the trip, so it was booked at 11:00... haha. The staff is friendly and the small space has a nice atmosphere... Each person can choose a different type of tea, and a separate teapot is provided for each tea selected. The generous sandwiches, scones, and desserts are delicious...^^ The Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam that came with the scones go perfectly with the scones... Compared to the afternoon tea enjoyed at The Lobby of the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong, the composition and taste are just as good, and the price is cheap, so it is very good value for money. Except for the fact that I enjoyed afternoon tea in the morning, I am so satisfied that I can't fault it... haha.

We visited this charming tea shop yesterday for afternoon tea, and it was an unforgettable experience. The staff was gracious and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The tea was lovely and served in individual pots, we had the lavender earl grey and the cherry rose sencha, and the food was delectable and perfectly portioned. The pastries were so delicious that we purchased extras to enjoy later! The atmosphere was cozy, and even the restroom was pristine. With so much to explore in London, we’ll definitely return on our next visit. Booking a month in advance was necessary and entirely worth it.
