Candella in Kensington and Chelsea

I went without a reservation, but was turned away as there was no room. I tried to thank the black employee in black who somehow prepared a table for me, but he was busy on the phone, so I just paid and left right away. I went because I really wanted scones and cream tea on my last day in London, but if you're going to go here, you definitely have to make a reservation. I was eating on the terrace and almost everyone who came was turned away and left. The scones and cream tea are so delicious.

Quaint and charming tea house. Staff are very personable and warm. No two trays of cakes are the same which is lovely for tasting different selections on offer.

This is in a piece de resistance in afternoon tea experiences whether you eat inside or out. Yes you can choose to visit a fancy hotel or a place in the country but please consider how obliged you feel to dress up, the extreme hassle of planning your journey and the profound disappointment when your single estate tea is served in a tiny metal pot ( l kid you not ! ). This precious gem sits in the lower curve of Kensington Church Street. Your tea comes in pretty individual china pots...so no mistaking whose it is. The tiered stands for your dainty sandwiches, cream scones and cakes are easy to extract your items from. No Jenga balancing act. Your options are plenty. Just tea, tea and cake, cream tea, afternoon tea, prosecco tea and so on. The venue is full of artistry and charm as is the service. No request falls on deaf ears. I was allowed to sniff the loose Earl grey tea before l chose it. Some of our birthday party were vegan so we asked politely if any of the cakes were vegan. Unfortunately the answer was no.They may be on catch up with this but they said we were perfectly welcome to bring a vegan purchase from elsewhere to eat alongside our tea spread. Nor did they mind me producing my goats milk flask for my tea. Candella has a huge loyal local clientele who possibly won't thank me for this glowing review that might make it even harder to book. We were here on a Saturday at lunch time having negotiated a large outdoor table on a lovely sunny shine filled day with a side of hair sweeping breeze. Can l please thank the kind gentleman at the adjoining tea table who helped us clear away the last empty prosecco glass before the wind crashed it to the pavement. Everyone here has impeccable manners. A glorious time was had by all. This is somewhere I'll happily guest friends to.

Marcus was an amazing host and made me and my partner feel comfortable. Was a new experience for us and we highly enjoyed the scones, the selection of teas and amazing service. Would definitely recommend anyone to try Candella out, even if you’ve never been to a function like this before!

Simply fantastic afternoon tea. I went there a couple of years ago and I still cannot forget about it. Delicious cakes and sandwiches, warm soft scones made in front of you with sweet tasty jam and clotted cream, large choice of tea served in delicate china, very generous in terms of portions. All the preparations take a bit of time but I can't wait to go back to London for this tearoom! My advice: Make a Reservation!! The tearoom only holds a few sits and you do not want to miss the comfort and the victorian atmosphere.

A must visit! Afternoon tea can get quite pricey as we all know, but this was a great novelty. We did not have reservations, and the host kindly allowed us a slot of about 45 minutes before the next reservation came. With only a weekend to spend in London, we took it. The tea selection was unparalleled, with various cakes and sandwiches. The biscuit, jam and clotted cream was to die for. I have always wanted to experience afternoon tea, and this fit the bill perfectly. I would have loved to have more time to relax and drink, but given that we hadn’t made reservations, that was on me. And make note, it’s typical in London to have a 10-15% service charge added onto your bill. We had a great time!

Best scone I’ve ever had in my life. They give you two scones for cream tea and have a wide selection of teas. Family owned tea room. The host is lovely. I recommend making a reservation, especially for parties larger than 2. The teas were delicious. Hope to return soon to try the cakes!

The texture is different from Korea Osulloc or Korea House Tea Course! On the first floor, you feel like you are filling your stomach with Munanbari. The second floor is a truly delicious scone,,;; The 3rd floor is a sweet and sweet dessert that I got while I was full, so I can't wait :) Oh, when I visit, I am greeted by a black man who speaks softly like a woman but is very large. He is really nice and kind👍 I can tell that he feels pride in his work👍👍

This is an absolute gem! We had delicious treats and a wonderful and fun staff who were so kind with any request or question we had. I recommend sniffing a few teas if you are wondering which you would enjoy better. I have nothing negative to say about the food, it was all really delicious and we had a lovely afternoon tea experience.

Candella is a lovely tea room where the time seems to have stopped. The forniture and the attention to the details make the differrent! The room is cozy and you feel like you're at home. The staff is kind and careful! I really enjoy the experience thanks to Lorenzo and Marcus. The food was amazing, in particular the scones! You have to try them!

Intimate and welcoming environment as well as economical compared to the various existing venues in the area. The guys who run the tea room are very kind and really friendly. We had a very good time, we will return next time.

You have to book ahead of time, but it is SO worth it! It's small, so I wouldn't recommend bringing a party larger than 4, but when you do go, it's everything you'd want it to be! The food is so good, and the teas are amazing, I regretted not buying one. I would visit 10 times over, one of the best places I went to with my sisters in London!

Extremely rude and very arrogant behaviour from the waiter at the reception. Probably he thinks that he works at the Ritz..! Very unorganised cancellation policy if happens to be late. About the place, it is extremely small, 6-7 tables for 2, sooo close to each other which makes the whole thing very crowded and overwhelming. I doubt that you can speak to each other without whispering… Thank you, neeeeext!

This place is just lovely and perfect. The service was impeccable. My mom is dairy free and they let her get some desserts from a neighboring shop instead to eat with her tea. And then accidentally gave us double tea time service but let us keep it :) The food itself was amazing! I prefer savory and really enjoyed the sandwiches. The desert selection was beautiful though, and those were some buttery and soft scones. Would 100% come back.

Went to Candella Tea Room by myself, the staff was very nice and the food was great. I don’t like lemon cake and they kindly gave me another option. The atmosphere was also really really. 100% recommend!

Booked the table for 5PM, arrived 5:15PM. Waiter was standoffish and told us the kitchen was already closed at 5PM and they will not take any more orders (why did they have a 5PM booking available then??). Waiter then said that they cancel all customers’ bookings if they are 15 minutes late. We argued that we were right on the dot and were not late, he said that the reservation email told us that we should have called regardless. Checked again, the email said nothing of the sort. Awful service—what a shame! We travelled so far, too.

My sister, mother, and I were visiting London for five days and made a reservation months before visiting. We were absolutely charmed by this tea room, from its atmosphere to offerings. Service was lovely. We bought some tea to take home & should've gotten more! Will definitely return in the future.

Staff is very sweet and friendly. They allowed us to put some candles on a cake for my mother's birthday and brought them to us. Wonderful ambiance and presentation, nice tea. Best scones I have ever eaten, it was amazing. I was a bit sad by the lack of choice in the pastries, but overall I had a nice experience and was satisfied.

I had a lovely afternoon at Candella Tea room. Prior to my visit, I spoke with Marcus over the phone, and he was very helpful! And during my visit I was served by Lorenzo, who was friendly, attentive and polite. They were able to cater to my preferences, and everything was fantastic. A quaint, charming place for a relaxing afternoon tea.

It’s a small cute tea room with limited seating 🫶🏼 however it totally has its charms! 💗 The service was soo friendly and helpful! They made it a really special experience. Even offered to take pictures and videos for social media! 🤝🏼💖 The afternoon tea ☕️ costs around 25£ and is a total fair price for what you get. You get a big selection of different teas where you can choose from and a little bit of everything from the finger food. 🍰 everything was absolutely delicious! 🥰 And I can’t wait to come back again!! ❤️ (I even got a present! 예약하고 방문하시는 것을 추천드립니다. 주말 오픈 시간 기준 예약을 안 하셔서 돌아가시는 분들을 좀 봤습니다. 크림티(차+스콘), 애프터눈티(차+스콘+기타 디저트) 둘 다 비교적으로 가성비가 좋은 건 맞습니다. 그치만 절대적으로 저렴한 가격은 아니고, 특히나 애프터눈티는 크림티보다 10파운드 정도 비싸서... 예산이 넉넉하지 않다 하시면 크림티도 결코 아쉽지 않은 선택일 겁니다. 스콘 플레이트가 꽤 본격적으로 나와서 사진 찍기에도 좋고, 스콘이 이 찻집의 하이라이트이기 때문에 무리 없이 딱 맛있는 것만 맛본다고 생각하시면 됩니다. 실제로 되게 맛있었어요. 은은한 단맛과 고소함이 일품이었습니다. 서비스 가격 포함 14._파운드 나왔던 걸로 기억합니다.

We stumbled across Cadella just as they had a cancellation so we were given the last table in the charming decorated tea room. The extensive choice of teas was wonderful and the menu was all you want to for and they let us substitute a few things. Marcus the proprietor is very customer focussed and runs a fabulous tea room

Unpleasant upon arrival. Hard to know who worked there as no real greeting, just a "wait here" by manager as we stood by entrance for several minutes and completely ignored and walked past by crass woman who was perhaps owner. Asked for our rez, seated, but no welcome or hellos. Cute interior, but off putting frantic and stressed vibe. Teas bereft of flavour. Scones lovely, Sandwiches fine. Would have sufficed if more pleasant attitude by staff. Staff only friendly with loud friend of woman who seemed to be owner. Never to return and don't understand so many great reviews. We've enjoyed so many other pleasant spots and people in London. This seemed quite the anomaly. Tea should be a relaxed way to enjoy an afternoon. This was not. P.S the loo needs attention!

Stumble across this gem. Intimate casual place for English high tea. Very comfortable setting and tasty fresh sandwiches, scone, and cakes. Our family of 4 were each offered our own selection of tea. Owner was extremely helpful with stories and insights. I was in a wheelchair and was made comfortable without feeling like I was in the way. Surprisingly, my 19 year old son acquired a taste for afternoon tea on this trip.

We had been looking forward to an afternoon tea and found this little spot walking from Notting Hill to Westminster. The service was great, the room had a good atmosphere and decoration and we enjoyed the afternoon tea. The tea had all the parts and was well made: sandwiches, scones and cakes were all delicious. My daughter especially enjoyed the scones. Thanks to Marcus for taking care of us.

Malgrado il ritardo dell'autobus , avendo una prenotazione siamo stati ugualmente accolti calorosamente da Lorenzo, un ragazzo italiano,carinissimo e molto gentile che ci ha suggerito vari tipi di tee con i dolcetti, crema al burro e marmellate. We had a wonderful experience at the Candella tea room. We were running late and called in to let the staff know. We ended up being almost an hour late.They held our table and were very warm and accommodating when we arrived. We enjoyed the tea and sandwich selection for afternoon tea. Marcus made great recommendations for the perfect choice of tea for our 11year and 9year olds. It was a highlight of our trip and would wholeheartedly recommend for afternoon tea.

Intimate and eclectic tea room within a short walking distance from High Street Kensington / Notting Hill Gate station. Small space so reservations are ideal. Great scones/sandwiches and pastries. Tea selection is decent. Hosts are knowledgeable and friendly. Very decently priced as well.

We’ve been coming to this charming spot since 2016. We have always had an exceptional experience at afternoon tea. We have already booked for our next trip to London.

I researched high tea offerings in London months before our trip and landed on this little place. I wanted to find something small and authentic with excellent food and tea. I booked our tea time weeks ahead from the US to make sure we had a table, and when we got there, we realized how smart that was, because they couldn't seat anyone without a reservation. Our table, however, was ready, and we did have exactly the tea we dreamt of! This is a family owned place, so it felt good to support such a hard working family! Highly recommended!

A beauty, small and cozy tea room, with ambient music and exquisite decoration, excellent selection of teas and probably the best scones in London. We ordered the afternoon tea and the waiter came explaining all kind of things about the food. You have to book in advance, there are just 6 tables inside, and outside it's very cold these days. IMHO, one of the best places in London for an afternoon or cream tea.

The tea selection, pastries and scones were beyond amazing. The scones were served fresh and warm, seemingly straight from the oven and the finger sandwiches were all so delicious. The service provided by Marcus was exceptional! He even made recommendations for tea selections for us to purchase to take home! Warm customer service really heightens the afternoon tea experience especially on a dreary London day! I would definitely recommend this afternoon tea experience to anyone visiting the area! Great value for the price you pay considering the great food and amazing service.

Hyggelig formiddag med afternoon tea i et koselig lokale. Veldig godt utvalg av te, friske sandwicher og nydelige kaker. Veldig hyggelig betjening som fikk oss til å føle oss velkomne. Som nordmenn er vi kanskje ikke de mest drevne i te-settingen, men her følte vi at vi kunne slappe av å kose oss. Mye mer rimelig enn steder vi har hatt afternoon tea tidligere, men minst like bra om ikke bedre kvalitet.

I have been in Candella last week. It was an amazing experience. They have a really nice tea and a really nice selection of pastry. A special thanks to Lorenzo, he was really friendly and very helpfull. I will back again in the next future. Thanks again to everyone.

I had the worst dining experience of my life at Candella Tea Room. I made a reservation for afternoon tea a month in advance, and the email confirmation stated we'd have 1:30 for our meal. When the day arrived, we called to notify them that we'd be 10 minutes late and to check if it was okay. They assured us it was not a problem. However, upon arrival at 18:10, the waiter rudely claimed we were too late and would need to rush as they would close in 50 minutes. When we mentioned our prior phone call, he became aggressive and asked to see our reservation, even though there were empty tables. After viewing the email, he begrudgingly allowed us to sit without a welcoming word. He dropped the menus and urged us to be quick, continually checking his watch. Our order was taken hastily, and we were not provided any information or recommendations about the menu. When our food arrived, another waiter briefly mentioned the items and left. The initial rude waiter showed no interest in our satisfaction, even rolling his eyes when we kindly asked for more milk. We inquired about additional sandwiches, which are common in afternoon teas, but he claimed they had run out of them. When we requested more scones instead, he agreed but in the end charged us more than £3 each, which was not expected, let alone mentioned by him. Throughout our meal, he repeatedly approached our table just to remind us to hurry, even though that was precisely what we were already doing: eating very fast and feeling extremely embarrassed. As if this wasn't enough, before 18:00, he brought the bill and the card machine, demanding payment while we were still eating. This was not only extremely rude but also unsanitary, as we had to touch our cards and the machine while consuming scones with our hands. Despite the good tea and scones, the terrible treatment overshadowed everything. It seemed as though the staff was rushing to close, even with other tables. When we were hurrying to put on our jackets inside the restaurant at 18:05, he aggressively told us, "The restaurant is closed." When we left, he didn't even say "thank you" or "goodbye" to us. This experience was a waste of money, and I've never felt so poorly treated in London. We understand about closing time and were concerned enough to call beforehand to inform about the 10 minutes of delay. We ate as quickly as possible and didn't attempt to prolong our time at the table. However, none of this justifies such inhumane and rude treatment. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves their service, as it's unacceptable to treat people this way.

Appalling Experience – Extremely Rude Service I had the worst dining experience of my life at Candella Tea Room. I made a reservation for afternoon tea a month in advance, and the email confirmation stated we'd have 1:30 for our meal. When the day arrived, we called to notify them that we'd be 10 minutes late and to check if it was okay. They assured us it was not a problem. However, upon arrival at 18:10, the waiter rudely claimed we were too late and would need to rush as they would close in 50 minutes. When we mentioned our prior phone call, he became aggressive and asked to see our reservation, even though there were empty tables. After viewing the email, he begrudgingly allowed us to sit without a welcoming word. He dropped the menus and urged us to be quick, continually checking his watch. Our order was taken hastily, and we were not provided any information or recommendations about the menu. When our food arrived, another waiter briefly mentioned the items and left. The initial rude waiter showed no interest in our satisfaction, even rolling his eyes when we kindly asked for more milk. We inquired about additional sandwiches, which are common in afternoon teas, but he claimed they had run out of them. When we requested more scones instead, he agreed but in the end charged us more than £3 each, which was not expected, let alone mentioned by him. Throughout our meal, he repeatedly approached our table just to remind us to hurry, even though that was precisely what we were already doing: eating very fast and feeling extremely embarrassed. As if this wasn't enough, before 18:00, he brought the bill and the card machine, demanding payment while we were still eating. This was not only extremely rude but also unsanitary, as we had to touch our cards and the machine while consuming scones with our hands. Despite the good tea and scones, the terrible treatment overshadowed everything. It seemed as though the staff was rushing to close, even with other tables. When we were hurrying to put on our jackets inside the restaurant at 18:05, he aggressively told us, "The restaurant is closed." When we left, he didn't even say "thank you" or "goodbye" to us. This experience was a waste of money, and I've never felt so poorly treated in London. We understand about closing time and were concerned enough to call beforehand to inform about the 10 minutes of delay. We had a wonderful experience. We had afternoon tea with five of us. Marcus was very accommodating to find us a table. The food was delicious and the service wonderful. I highly recommend.
