This is hands down the best tea room I’ve been to in London. It is so quaint and the ambience is so cozy. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive - the service is exceptional. Not even to mention the excellent tea menu (cream earl grey was fantastic) and incredibly tasty afternoon tea sandwiches, scones, and dessert. Absolutely a must visit but make sure to make a reservation early!

We celebrated my birthday there and it was a good experience. A cozy little room where we sat close, but charmingly decorated. We got a nice set up with nice little sandwiches and lovely cakes. In addition, we each chose our own tea, which was really good. We each got a jug. The one waiter was really sweet, smiling, service minded, nice, charming and friendly. The other was pretty much the opposite. We didn't see him smile and he also didn't wince at a nice tip. We didn't manage to get a farewell greeting either, but it was still a good experience for us.

When I tried to make a reservation on the same day on a weekday, they told me to call, so I couldn't, so they said the last order was at 17:00, so I went 10 minutes before 17:00 to see if I could have cream tea if there was room. I went into the store and was standing there, but there was no guidance when I saw it, so I stopped talking and saw a seat without a reservation, but a young woman said that I didn't have a reservation and that orders were closed (I think she spoke too fast and spoke British English, but I didn't understand her). There was an hour left until closing, so I thought I could just have a quick scone, but since they said they only had takeout, I bought a small cheesecake, scone, and tea. The scones were delicious. When I looked at the store, everyone was having afternoon tea and there were a lot of people coming at 5 o'clock as well. I want to make a reservation next time and eat properly.

Cute very small tea rooms, two main menu items: cream tea (scones and tea) or full afternoon tea. They also have few cakes and other desserts on the counter to choose from. The place is lovely, the staff are extremely attentive, and the scones were served warm and super delicious. There are very few tables, however, when I came on weekend morning I noticed there were some available tables without reservation for the early comers.

07/10/2024 We wanted to try the tea experience without spending a fortune and here at the Candella tea room we found what we were looking for. Informal but sober environment, antique furnishings, mismatched but beautiful tea sets, small venue (reservation recommended), absolutely warm and welcoming atmosphere. It feels like entering grandma's living room and having tea with her in a familiar environment. There is a very kind Italian boy who is perfect for those of us who are not very familiar with English. A 3-tier cake stand, with scoones with raisins and without (among the best I've ever eaten), various types of sandwiches, clotted cream, jam and sweets, each different from the other, a wide selection of teas, around £25 per person. Would we stay here again? Absolutely yes!!! P.S for those who want to try the experience but don't like tea, you can opt for a glass of prosecco for around £7 more. We were supposed to pick up some scoones to take away but unfortunately we didn't have time anymore, we'll do it again on our next trip to London.

I popped in here last minute after a visit to Kensington palace (5 mins walk away). They were fully booked indoors but it was a nice day and outside you can get a small table without reservation. I wanted to do a proper afternoon tea while in London and considered lots of the fancier places but I am SO glad I happened upon Candella and just went for it here instead. First of all, the food was actually delicious. The vanilla scones and cream were divine. Some tasty sandwiches and really yummy desserts (cheesecake bites and chocolate mousse cake were my faves). Second, the tea was so good. I am not a tea fan but I drank my entire pot of tea. Spiced apple flavor. And last, it is so much cheaper than many other places - around $20-25 a person. It was perfect amount of food. We walked out full.

The first place where racism occurred in London. Koreans should really read this... I stayed in London for a few months and went to various restaurants and cafes, but this was my first time experiencing something like this. The black employee said in other reviews that he talked a lot, but first of all, he spoke so fast on purpose that I couldn't understand him at all, and when he said he couldn't understand you because you spoke so fast, he spoke even faster and got angry lol. In the end, the British person waiting behind me ‘spoke slowly on my behalf’ so I understood. This is obvious racism. There are many places that basically speak slowly to non-English speaking customers, and even if they don't, if you tell them you're speaking fast, they will always say it again slowly. However, since black people intentionally spoke faster, it was clearly racist. The black man even got angry and yelled at me. The situation was no different for other employees. It's ridiculous that another customer helps me instead. As you can see when you visit here, 80% of the customers are Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Asian. Should we go and spend money on treating Asians, our largest customers, so poorly? There are many other similar afternoon tea restaurants. please! please refer to this.

Not only that, the service from the staff, the food, and the cleanliness are all of the highest quality. Visit on Wednesday 2024.08.21 Finally, afternoon tea in London...lol Before going to London, I was looking for a place with good value and found it... It's near Kensington Palace. If you let your guard down, you won't be able to reserve the date you want... haha In the end, I tried to match the reservation time during the trip, so it was booked at 11:00... haha. The staff is friendly and the small space has a nice atmosphere... Each person can choose a different type of tea, and a separate teapot is provided for each tea selected. The generous sandwiches, scones, and desserts are delicious...^^ The Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam that came with the scones go perfectly with the scones... Compared to the afternoon tea enjoyed at The Lobby of the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong, the composition and taste are just as good, and the price is cheap, so it is very good value for money. Except for the fact that I enjoyed afternoon tea in the morning, I am so satisfied that I can't fault it... haha.

This is a piece de resistance in afternoon tea experiences whether you eat inside or out. Yes you can choose to visit a fancy hotel or a place in the country but please consider how obliged you feel to dress up, the extreme hassle of planning your journey and the profound disappointment when your single estate tea is served in a tiny metal pot ( l kid you not ! ). This precious gem sits in the lower curve of Kensington Church Street. Your tea comes in pretty individual china pots...so no mistaking whose it is. The tiered stands for your dainty sandwiches, cream scones and cakes are easy to extract your items from. No Jenga balancing act. Your options are plenty. Just tea, tea and cake, cream tea, afternoon tea, prosecco tea and so on. The venue is full of artistry and charm as is the service. No request falls on deaf ears. I was allowed to sniff the loose Earl grey tea before l chose it. Some of our birthday party were vegan so we asked politely if any of the cakes were vegan. Unfortunately the answer was no.They may be on catch up with this but they said we were perfectly welcome to bring a vegan purchase from elsewhere to eat alongside our tea spread. Nor did they mind me producing my goats milk flask for my tea. Candella has a huge loyal local clientele who possibly won't thank me for this glowing review that might make it even harder to book. We were here on a Saturday at lunch time having negotiated a large outdoor table on a lovely sunny shine filled day with a side of hair sweeping breeze. Can l please thank the kind gentleman at the adjoining tea table who helped us clear away the last empty prosecco glass before the wind crashed it to the pavement. Everyone here has impeccable manners. A glorious time was had by all. This is somewhere I'll happily guest friends to.

The service was great. The teas and choices of food served were excellent. We didn't have to rush and the servers checked in with us at least twice. They even explained which plate to start and what to spread on the scone first: clotted cream, then, jam. The only tiny hiccup was the menu indicating we had the choice between traditional scones or raisin scones. However, we weren't offered the option to choose. It all worked out as the traditional scones were very good.

It's crispy and crumbly, not dry at all, and the firmness, sweetness, and texture are perfect. It's delicious on its own, but top it with lots of clotted cream and add a little jam for a blissful bite. It was so delicious that I could have eaten as many as I wanted. We had a lovely time - the atmosphere and music choices were excellent, the staff friendly, knowledgeable and happy to be working there, and the food delicious and clearly prepared with care. It can be a rarity these days to find such good quality afternoon tea, especially at more expensive London tourist traps. Here however, the scones were fresh from the oven and so delicious and crumbly - perhaps the best I have ever had (and I've been eating them a long time!). First, I would like to inform interested guests that on the tearoom's homepage, in the description of the afternoon tea for ONE person, there is a picture of an afternoon tea for TWO people plus additional scones. This makes a clear difference!!!! The ambience is delightful, with very tight seating. We had to climb onto our chairs in the window. The food was good but not exceptional. We've had better afternoon teas in England. The service is really bad. The waiter definitely doesn't want this job. Bored and annoyed, he sometimes operates with one hand in his pocket. At the next table a couple was having a hard time speaking English. He was almost annoyed because he sometimes had to explain something twice. He answered my comment that I don't eat meat/sausage by saying that my husband and I should divide the sandwiches as we like. All in all, it's bordering on being a tourist trap!

LOL don’t go here guys. They told us that there’s no tables available inside so we were sweating outside. However, the girls who also didn’t make a reservation like us just got inside right after us 😓 didn’t feel nice about it

Had high tea. Food was not bad but service was lacklustre. We found the cakes too sweet, but scones were perfect. The waiter couldn’t remember names of the sweets they served. He was also somewhat rude. There are options on the menu, but he didn’t check what options we wanted or if we wanted alternative options. Feels like the restaurant is quite complacent

A store that is supported by both tourists and locals. Reservations are required. Everyone orders afternoon tea or cream tea. There are many types of tea, and they have unusual flavors. recommendation

Afternoon tea is cheaper than other places, but it still has its price. I heard on another blog that 2 people shared one cream tea, so we thought about ordering that too, but when we saw that the staff member was also frowning, we said, “That’s not right..!” I thought it was a nuisance, so I ordered two cream teas (tea and scones)! The amount of tea is really generous. I think I ordered Cream Earl Gray and Lavender Earl Gray, but the Lavender Earl Gray was delicious!! I can't say anything about the scones, I just wanted to order more scones😂 Reservations are required and the staff is friendly. And dogs are allowed here!

As others have noted, the service was rather brisk and not particularly descriptive or helpful. We had a reservation and we were seated right away. It is very tight small quarters and FYI babies are allowed. The scone was fantastic as was the clotted cream and all the finger sandwiches were good. We had a nice classic experience, but it would have been enhanced by more descriptive service, and a recognition that we are traveling from the United States and unfamiliar with the custom. Its very casual.

I’ve been to many tea rooms so I do have high expectations, however, this was one of my favorites! The place is small, cosy & its location is lovely. You would be overseeing the street whether you’re inside or out. You do need a reservation to sit inside. We have waited on foot for 30 mins+ to be seated outside (although the inside “reserved” tables were still empty after we left 1 hour later). I do understand that if someone reserves their table should be free; however if they don’t show up after 20 mins it should be open to walk-ins.. I don’t understand why not! The scones tasted heavenly and they came in warm. The clotted cream & jam were sooooo good! So it’s definitely worth the wait! I would come again.

I highly recommend Candella's tea room for an authentic and delicious afternoon tea experience without being overly stuffy. It's just a short walk from Hyde Park and Kensington Palace. They serve a selection of traditional English sweet and savory favorites. The presentation was beautiful. It's a small spot and reservations are highly recommended. Marcus was a lovely server. He went above and beyond with recommendations not only for tea but for our visit as well.

I've never written a review before, but I'm leaving this with the hope that Koreans will read the review and think twice about visiting. There were many introductions on the Naver blog as a famous London afternoon tea restaurant and a must-visit place in London, so I made a reservation in advance and visited because I thought it was a famous place. When I went there, it was a small store that could barely accommodate 5-6 teams, and all the teams were Asian, and most of them were Korean. This is a business that caters to tourists, so you can't feel the local atmosphere. Also, a black man who seemed to be the owner served us, but from the moment I first arrived, I felt he spoke in a rude and sarcastic manner. I felt a bit ignored and pitiful towards Asians who were unfamiliar with English and afternoon tea culture. London is friendly wherever I go, but the way the waiter spoke was embarrassing. Not only did he say a few words, but even when serving the afternoon tea tray, he asked the customer to remove something like a vase from the table to make space (not in a request tone). There was no personal luggage on the table, only plates, cutlery, and vases that they had set up, so I don't understand why they made space for a kettle and a three-tier tray to serve guests. Other than this, I can't list them all, but instead of being thankful towards the Asian customers who come to my store, I saw a pathetic attitude towards them, showing that they were bothered. The taste of food is something you can intuitively feel is delicious. It's worth eating. However, although the taste was nothing strange, it was luxurious and did not have a unique taste that I had not tried anywhere else, so I don't think there is any merit in making a reservation and coming here no matter how bad London is. The interior is nothing special and the paintings on the walls are very old. There are many people who recommend it for its cost-effectiveness, but even though it is expensive in London, I think the hospitality, taste, and atmosphere are not enough compared to the cost of 80,000 won for two people. Even if you pay a little more, you should go to other places that have good views, historical places, good atmosphere, or where you can experience a real afternoon tea among the locals. Above all, I hope you don't experience the strange words and actions of unpleasant employees even though you spend money like I did!

Lovely experience for afternoon tea! We were hoping to grab tea before our flight out of London and were so glad we bet our luck to come here. They were fully booked inside for the day, but we got lucky with the first come first serve out door tables on a beautiful day. The tea, and the treats were amazing. The staff was very friendly, and didn’t make us feel rushed in any way.

This tucked away gem is fantastic. It only has about 6-7 tables total, which means they book up pretty quickly. We made reservations for tea time a couple of months before our trip which I recommend because people who wanted to walk-in were turned away. The tea (1 flavor per person, so 2(!) teapots for both of us) was delicious, the finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and desserts were all wonderful. The manager on duty mentioned that they were planning on opening another location in the future so here's to hoping that happens so more people can experience an amazing afternoon tea experience.

I had dinner here ordering their prix fixe menu with my partner. The wait staff are very nice and the food is tasty (though not extraordinary) and beautifully presented. In addition, there are a number of "free" amuse bouche items provided. However, the portion sizes from this menu are tiny. I'd say the portions are like tapas rather than a meal that will satisfy your hunger. But what really burnt my bunions was that when the bill arrived, it included a £1 charge for charity. I choose my own charities voluntarily and do not expect to be pickpocketed in a fancy, overpriced restaurant. If the owners want, they can donate to charity out of their pockets without imposing this on me with a sneaky addition to the bill. I believe it's inappropriate for a restaurant to sneak this on the bill, which would result in an embarrassing confrontation with the wait staff over it. I want to be asked to optoin rather than requiring me to opt-out. In addition, the bill had a 15% service charge, which, on top of their inflated prices and their £1 charity addition, really dented my wallet. A 12.5% service charge is the norm in London. 15% is ridiculous. There was no mention of the charity extortion or inflated service charge up front. No wonder they're closing the restaurant down. Even if they stayed open I'd never go back.

Every visit to this restaurant leaves me genuinely impressed by the creative mastery of the chef, the inspired selections from the sommelier, and the impeccable professionalism of the entire staff. Each member of the team strikes the perfect balance of warmth and expertise, making every guest feel welcome and well cared for. I recently dined here with a friend visiting from Italy—both of us passionate about good food—and we left feeling thoroughly delighted by the experience. This place is a gem for food enthusiasts seeking both innovation and quality, and it never disappoints. Highly recommended!

We arrived early and had a friendly welcome. Having sat down it was clearly apparent there was a change of staff, roughly 3pm. Our first server I’m guessing was checking off, no interest at all, next server was fair but never saw again, all in all 6 different servers, not one the same on any time coming to the table so no continuity, very little interest except for the lady towards the end. We had pork belly ribs to start, amazing, nice salad with it. The. Between three we had a 1kg porterhouse plus two fries mushrooms mac and cheese and drinks. The steak was excellent but I felt the portions were all very small for the cost of the food. Not good value for money. But this is London. After one dessert it came to just shy of £250. I was really looking forward to this meal but felt very let down. A shame and will be hard pushed to return. I feel there are better restaurants serving quality food for more value. Sorry
