Great stop off while travelling on the M6. Great service, very attentive and good food. Order at the bar once you have been given a table.

Love this place, come twice a year when visiting family graves in Carlisle, love the pie 👌👌 although last month I noticed they’d changed the pastry from crust to puff, but still nice nevertheless, noticed a lot a new staff also but again great service

My wife and I went here 'on spec' as we were in Carlisle hospital visiting. A patient recommended it! The roast beef dinner was piping hot and excellent, the roast beef in particular probably the best I have tasted. Service was really good and ample car parking. We will be making this a regular stop whilst we are visiting Carlisle. 1/9/24 We visited this restaurant again whilst we were staying in Penrith. The beef is still the best I have tasted. Succulent, tender and beautifully cooked. Service is good too!

I loved their drinks, desserts, the shrimp salad. It was out of bounds. That is what Guy fieri would say. That means very awesome. I might comeback sometime. Gordon ramsay and Guy Fieri should come Here sometime.

It was a lovely meal,staff were great and it was spotless as always.I had the tikka masala and my partner had the beef and they were lovely and hot. Really is a local gem x. Thankyou x.

We are all gutted with the auctioneer. We are regulars in the auctioneer, 4 of us went for my son's birthday. I ordered mixed meat with chips, my wife, daughter and son all got the roast beef. One with chips and the other without, my mixed meat came with potatoes and I thought they must of been bringing the chips, waitress never even said do you want sauces, I asked her for sauce and she went to fill the pots up, she comes back and I said I ordered chips with my dinner expecting he to say sorry I'll get you some, but oh no she grabs my plate and takes my dinner away, my son has now finished his meal, I was walking over to the bar to complain and another waitress was just bringing it over. No apologies or anything. They just pulled the potatoes off and brought me chips, the chips were hot but my dinner was cold unfortunately.

We had a family gathering as we were visiting my mum's family in Carlisle. My mum became unwell as it was very hot. The staff could not have done more for my mum. They got her water, moved us to a cooler spot, got her a chair to sit in the loo, didn't rush us (even though they were super busy) and generally kept checking in on her for the whole evening. They could not have been kinder or more lovely. Completely above and beyond, so thank you so much to them. As an aside, the food was lovely as always.

Friendly staff and high quality food, I had the roast my friend had the steak the peppercorn sauce and homemade puddings made my pickle twitch!

This used to be our " go too" restaurant. No longer. The haddock we had was miniature , loaded with soggy battered, burnt roast potatoes and sad salad. The price of the meal was outrageous for the quality of food.

Beef dinner every time. It's always excellent. They do get busy and you may have to que but that's coz it's good food.

What a fabulous place. Great value for excellent food - and first class service too. The staff were all so nice - especially Janice, who went that extra mile for everybody. She definitely deserves employee of the month!

Was made to look stupid over a cup of coffee took 5 members of staff to tell me I was wrong and manager well shocking then the food came potatoes were solid and big hard lumps in mash I being going there for years but after my last time on 29may I won't be back

The menu was brilliant and all the staff were really friendly and the food arrived in 10 minutes which was crazy considering how busy it was!

My son and I visited on our trip up to Scotland on Monday 25th March and also on our way home on Good Friday. We had roast beef on first visit and roast turkey on on second. Food was amazing and large portion sizes. Meat carved thickly and 3 different veg, plus both roast and mash potatoes. Would defo recommend for a roast lunch.

Huge portions The turkey is a must.Very quiet at around 2 pm lunch finishes at 2.30.

Cracking scran, be prepared for a queue when you arrive. Bit weird that you can't order your scran and your drink at the same time but it was a really tasty Sunday Dinner

This was a really nice friendly family pub/reastraunt. Only had a pint but atmosphere was genuinely lovely. Staff wher friendly and was serves the second I reached the bar awesome.didnt eat any food but saw what folk wher eating and the people who had finished had empty plates so. In my book ther dood must be good.

Went in for a dinner and the food was truly magnificent. No problems with staff. Understandable that some meals were sold out because of the popularity and amount of people in depending on the days. Truly excellent Gavin and team members.

Lovely staff, very helpful, the food was excellent, staff courteous even when extremely busy, they open at 11.30am on a Sunday and the queue for a table was out of the door at 1pm, so go early to get a table, roast dinner was lovely, and the puddings are fantastic and very big!.

Great Sunday Dinner. We took the grandkid. I had Roast Beef my partner had Lamb and the Grandkids had Chicken. The beef was superb it melted in your mouth and the veg was cooked to perfection too. The Grandkids ate everything that was on their plates, the only downside was it could have done with more Gravy, alyhough they did bring more out eventually. Would defo recommend for a good Sunday Dinner.

Attended a function in one or your upstairs function rooms 2nd Feb , beautiful room staffed by 2 lovely barstaff . Very welcoming atmosphere and would highly recommend for any function .

I went to the Auctioneer for the first time with a party of friends for lunch on Tuesday. The place was packed! I would recommend booking. The food was good, with a reasonable choice including vegetarian. The service was excellent especially considering how busy it was.

The food was fresh and plenty of it. It was a busy Saturday night and they managed to squeeze 7 of us in for 1.5hrs. I personally had scampi chips and salad and it was delicious and loads of scampi. My husband had chicken tikka and he enjoyed his also and he also managed to squeeze a chocolate cheesecake in and he said it was lovely. Great friendly service and would definitely return when back in the area. Highly recommended 😊

Delicious, great quality food at a great price and lovely staff. Always have a great meal when we visit here and it didn’t disappoint today. I had scampi and my mum and roast turkey. Nothing too much trouble, food top notch, staff amazing!

Visited on a Thursday afternoon for lunch with family I had booked in advance. It's proper old school the way I like it no guessing how to order how or when to pay it's all clear. On arrival asked if we wanted drinks which we ordered asked if we wanted to pad you go 9r run a tab I opted to pay. We were shown to our table lass explained as printed on the menu order food at the counter we all made our selections I went to the counter and ordered and paid ,food all arrived together after around 15 minutes or so . All good fresh everyday grub all homemade not out a bidfood lorry. We all loved the food and left clean plates. Bill with drinks and tip just under £100.00 for five ,can't argue with that.

Very nice meal, drinks where lovely, service was spot on and I was a great atmosphere. The only problem was the smack head outside, clearly high on cociane and claimed he could "take me in a fight " I believe this rather odd individual lives there and should be removed from the premises immediately.

Very poor, no steak. Staff tried to serve both diet coke and ginger beer In the same glass😂. Food was very very slow to arrive at the table. Staff where not very friendly.

We arrived and got a table at the end of a busy spell, really friendly staff behind the bar, server seemed a bit off but that didn't ruin our experience. We ordered the auctioneer sharer to start as pictured - great quality! The scampi, turkey dinner and turkey roll were amazing - great value for money and will definitely visit again!

It’s a great place The Auctioneer yeah I’ve been to a few weddings good place for a night out, I enjoyed myself. I have some real fun things going on Staff and management are very good and helpful. I don’t know what I can say about this please it’s damn good, that’s why I gave it. Five stars inside is Magnificent and fabulous, nice and clean love the place still get to it. My daughters wedding was held here . Gavin and his team pulled out all the stops before and during the big day . Nothing was too much trouble. 3 course meal delivered hot and delicious. Atmosphere brilliant.

Had a beautiful meal here, all freshly cooked. Had to wait approx 45 minutes for our meals, but didn't mind as it was so worth the wait, plus they did warn us at the point of ordering. One small mistake made, which was serving a beef dinner instead of lamb. However, this didn't bother us as it was lovely anyway, so got eaten. Staff were lovely, prices ok. Would highly recommend & definitely visit again. Thank you for a good quality, beautiful meal!

I think anyone who is visiting Harrison and Hetherington's auction mart and the car showrooms on the Rosehill Industrial Estate should visit The Auctioneer and have a roast dinner. I ordered a roast beef dinner and while the Yorkshire Pudding wasn't anything great, the silverside of beef was beautiful and the portions very generous, and the beef gravy tasted delicious. Also the portion of peas, carrots and cabbage was nice and the roast potatoes were cooked well. Service was good and the woman on the till was friendly and helpful. For my £14, I could say I was a satisfied customer and will return.

Visited numerous times and the food is alway lovely and the same when we have had takeaway, however I have rang four times recently to order a take away to be told they weren’t doing them. On the third occasion was told they needed to check with the chef who said they weren’t doing them then on the fourth occasion I asked if they had stop and was today it just depended on what sort of day they gave had as to whether they could do takeaway. I would suggest they need to stop advertising on there website that they do takeaway if that is the case.

Very unorganized place . Told to go to part of bar to order food ! I asked for a roast dinner told someone would come to our table to ask what we wanted then turned up with roast beef which we never asked for ! They were pretty awkward ! Food was average when it arrived I was told we would get Yorkshire puddings with pork but didn’t ! So someone did bring us them and were pretty disappointing . Would not eat here again .

We have used the Auctioneer occasionally for many years, generally a pleasant experience with traditional food and good service. When visiting recently it didn't quite measure up. The restaurant wasn't very busy as it was quite early and there were plenty of staff visible. The silverside beef with Yorkshire pudding and veg were good although the potatoes could of been a bit better but it was the Barron of beef in brandy and peppercorn sauce was very disappointing. The beef was dry, tasteless grey and probably cooked the week before. The deserts were the usual good standard. When asked by the staff while paying, we did mention this to them and she apologised and gave us a desert token for a return visit.

It’s lovely in here, the food is lovely and the ambiance is great. A bit pricey but what isn’t at the moment. Staff are excellent and very friendly 1 minor thing, I keep saying no peas but they put them on all the time. Jenkins poor at running the football club but this is an excellent place/food/staff

Quite busy as expected by the quality of the food. Reasonably priced and the food is amazing!!! Quick turnout on food, a nice selection of choices; personally can recommend the lasagne or steak options; the cheese and the beef is absolutely brilliant! We hosted a “leaving do” as we are moving to the USA. I love that we were able to reserve a room for a small party of 30. The Auctioneer was also able to accommodate dietary restrictions (gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian). 10/10 would recommend this as a venue for parties and gatherings locally. The Auctioneer offered us the atmosphere and venue we needed, which other local pubs could not, without costing a fortune. The service was exceptional as well.

Fantastic place for our leaving party for our son. Staff were exceptionally helpful and very welcoming and polite. Meals were great. All our fussiest of eaters were catered for very well. I highly recommend this place for all your needs for parties/meetings/meals etc. The venue has a beautiful function room with access times of your choice and no chuck out times either. I couldn’t fault a single thing in here. It was very clean and accommodated us extremely well. We’d all like to thank the staff for everything.

The Auctioneer never disappoints but their Friday carvery is simply outstanding. My wife and I made an unplanned visit on our way home and only then learned of the carvery. We were served by Ian who expertly carved the roast beef, pork, gammon and turkey. The meats were cooked to perfection as was the best stuffing ball I've ever tasted. Ellie then added delicious vegetables and gravy. The selection of desserts were an impressive sight, served in enormous portions and tasted as good as they looked. This was quite simply the best meal one could wish for. John, the manager, sets the highest of standards and has a team to be proud of. The level of service and courtesy could not be bettered and deserve the highest praise.

It was a funeral tea. Everything was well organised and staff extremely helpful.

Always enjoyed the roast beef dinners at the Auctioneer but sadly when we went on 29/03/23 I was unable to eat the cabbage as it was covered in pepper I wish they’d say on menu it contains pepper as it ruined a good meal

What can I say.....the food speaks for itself. Locally produced, fresh food, the auctioneer never fails to deliver. We were there on a busy Saturday night and there was alot of big tables booked in. And yes we probably waited a bit longer than usual but surely this is to be expected in such a popular venue. The manager was on hand to make sure that things were running as well as possible which was quite refreshing to see. We were a table of 12 that came away happy with the food and the service we received . We'll definitely be returning as always 😊

It's a while since I was last here. The menu is much better but they still put random things together. I had fish and chips which was nice but they put carrots with it. It might just be me but definitely don't want cooked carrots with fish and chips. Pudding's as usual always good.

Completely fantastic food. I had the beef Sunday lunch, the rest of the group had lamb. The dinner was full of fresh veg, the served up extra gravy which was lovely. Only comment is that it was our first time here, so we could have done with some direction, being given a menu rather than having to grab one off another table. 😉
