Casa Romana - Carlisle in Carlisle

Stayed in Carlisle for two nights, stumbling across Casa Romana by happy chance. Everything was flawless, staff, attention to detail, courtesy and most importantly the food. Should we find ourselves in Carlisle again, no brainer, authentic, excellent quality food, with great customer service.

Lovely atmosphere, restaurant filled with people enjoying themselves. The food was extremely good and all served by friendly and happy staff. The price was excellent too which was a pleasant surprise for such a great place.

Had a great family meal here staff are really friendly and nothing was to much trouble.

I came here with my family on a Thursday lunchtime. The service was great and the food was delicious. The set menu is extremely good value. The leggera pizza with salad is a great healthier option.

Our go to place when in Carlisle. Great tasting food with the added benefit of catering for those who need gluten free items - best of both worlds! Speedy friendly service as well - what's not to like.? Thoroughly recommended

Pasta dish was very bland,service very slow and poor had to ask several times for different things,everything seemed a effort.

Food was really nice but kids portions were tiny even though we opted & paid for ‘bigger kids’ meals, one of them was literally 3tbsp of pasta and also there was parmesan missing from the other kids ‘buttered spaghetti’ :(

Very disappointed with this meal. Small pizza tasted like it was just frozen, not fresh at all. Garlic ‘focaccia’ didn’t taste like focaccia, however, it was quite nice nevertheless. Quite expensive for extra toppings, even ‘extra garlic’ on the garlic bread! The rest of my party’s meals looked okay, but had mixed reviews. Service was great! But restaurant was very quiet and there was no atmosphere. Will not be returning in a hurry, unfortunately.

Was stuck in Carlisle due to train cancellations and decided to have lunch at Casa Romana. Food was flavourful, and really enjoyed the pollo picante starter. Staff were friendly and accommodated us with without a booking. Only thing I will say is if you’re getting lunch, make sure you don’t arrive right at the end of the lunch opening hours since the kitchen closes slightly before the official closing time.

Food was fantastic a bit small for the price you pay for but otherwise it was fantastic

Came here due to the many vegan options. Overall the food was ok. The garlic pizza bread was amazing however the vegan carbonara was unfortunately very oily. I was really disappointed with the service as it was incredibly slow. I hate to be rushed out the door but this was the opposite. The wait in-between courses were incredibly long, and with a toddler this didn't exactly go well. It would of been nice to have been asked if we wanted another drink while we waited, but the staff didn't come over. A young staff, which I feel would benefit from front of house training. I'd love to return due to the vegan option, however, wouldn't rush back to the very slow service.

Had dinner here with another couple who had just got engaged, one of whom is vegan. We chose Casa Romana because of the great vegan options and were not disappointed. We phoned the night before and asked if it were possible they could source a vegan sparkling wine/prosecco so we could celebrate our friends engagement. And the staff absolutely came through, going out to buy a bottle at our request! And the food was delicious too! So much to choose from. Our vegan friend was seriously impressed with the fact there were so many choices to be had. The chef also made made a vegan chocolate brownie and asked if they could try this - it went down very well - think they could have eaten it three times over! We all enjoyed our meal and will be back again soon. Great food, great staff and lovely atmosphere. Thank you!

Met with friends we had a lovely meal. Our food was delicious. I had the chicken risotto, and I really enjoyed it. Will definitely go back and would recommend it.

We had dinner here last week for a colleague who was retiring and from start to finish we were well looked after. The food and service was exceptional, one of the best Italians that I have visited and if I am ever in Carlisle again, I will definitely be back!

My self and my partner went for lunch to this Beautiful little Italian restaurant with a lovely atmosphere, beautiful food, and very friendly staff. I would recommend you book your table as it can get very busy

We were staying in Carlisle and found this restaurant on Google maps so checked out the menu , website and reviews and decided to book. I sent an email to book and had a quick response boking us in. We had a lovely relaxing meal and drink all served by very friendly staff. Although it was very busy we received all our food in the appropriate time for it to be cooked fresh and it was very tasty. There was plenty of good choices on the menu and served local ales. The restaurant has very nice decor and is very clean , including toilets. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Carlisle.

Well who said the restaurant industry is struggling! Turned away from Casa Romana Carlisle at 5.30pm on a Thursday as fully booked although only 8 people seated and at least 20 covers free and despite saying would be potentially out in an hour ! Staff totally unfussed with no apology!

After finishing 3 games of bowling after my 18th Birthday, we decided we needed somewhere to go after. I personally fancied a pizza, and both mum and my grandparents thought it was a brill idea. Went on to Tripadvisor and sorted by takeaway and Pizza, and came across this. Ordered off the online menu, and selected the time at 19:45. We arrived a few minutes earlier, but was ready at the selected time. We didn’t expect it to be so busy in the restaurant when we walked in, and glad we chose Takeaway. When we received our pizzas, we went to a car park, and ate it. And it was the perfect flavour for everyone’s pizza. The two grandparents had Pizza El Pollo, my mum had a Ricardo, where as I went for a custom one with Pepperoni, Pineapple, Ham, Sundried Tomatoes and Blue Cheese. They were all delicious. Would 100% go again. Maybe for my 19th :p.

I had long conversation with the owner on the phone about our visit, the food was fine, however the service was abysmal. The young waitress could not have been less interested and threw most of our food down and slammed the drinks down too. Great shame....

Saturday 5th August 2023, this was the third time I have been to eat here and everytime the food was excellant, this time their were 7 of us and everyone enjoyed the food, I tried the salmon fillet and it truly was one of the best salmon dishes I have tasted the sauce was so creamy and lovely garlic potatoes others had risotto and pizza and also all had sweets for afters and all complimented on the food The staff were very attentive and pleasant. This is my go to Italian Restaurant in Carlisle

Incredible food and great service. Could not recommend highly enough. The restaurant was very busy however staff were still incredibly attentive and the food not only came out quickly, it was also delicious.

We booked a table for 7 .At arrivals the place it looked nice little place and till we had our food !! OMG from startas to main BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! King prawns nothing what it says on the menu! I got 3 tiny tiger prawns and a soggy tomato bred ! And 12 inch pizzas come out 7 inch in our table so soggy no taste! Nothing! ! So I got to say this is the worst pizza I ever eaten on a Italian restaurant! Or any eaten place ! I left the restaurant hungry and angry! This restaurant should change a name as they are putting a shame on Italian food !

We hadn't booked but the water kindly found us a table upstairs. We had a beautiful meal with some of the best risotto and pasta carbonara that we've ever tasted! Service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended!

Fantastic food and staff! We hadn’t booked and just popped in as we were in Carlisle that evening at 6:00pm and the waiter kindly fitted us in, it was graduation week so we were very lucky to get a table. We had an amazing vegan meal, arancini followed by pizza, both were so tasty. Unfortunately we didn’t have room for dessert.

We were so delighted to be fitted in with a last-minute booking. The food was amazing- excellent value express menu with a choice of vegan options. We both had pizza with delicious, generous toppings and the very best vegan dessert I have had - 'Berry Messy' - absolutely yummy Eton Mess. We'll definitely be back when next in the area. Very highly recommended.

Lovely lunch although the portion sizes seem to be a little smaller than what they were. Came with a group of friends and had the tagliatelle with aubergine and lamb ragu very tasty.
