Sunday Lunch a complete dissapointment. Cumbrian Sirloin tough as old boots. The Yorkshire puddings were burnt black. Complaint to young Waitress received no feedback or response from kitchen.

Fabulous main courses and the garlic bread unbelievablly tasty (not many places do good garlic bread probably).

Visited on a recommendation from a local. Friendly staff and dogs welcome which is always good. Beer was good but this place is tiny and crammed. We couldn't enjoy our drinks because of the volume of people shoving past trying to find seats or get to the bar. Nowhere to sit or even stand - it's possibly better in the summer when you can sit outside but is on a very busy road with lots of fast traffic.

Great little local pub. We popped in for a visit and were made to feel very welcome (as were our 4 legged family members). Cosy and warm with open fires, great ales and football on the telly. What more could you want?!?!

Very busy pub that serves food, pleasant staff, As this is a pub the table space is very limited and cramped.we were on table 4 tight for space and not comfortable. The food we had was not great. Chicken dish laced with raw garlic, ruining the taste of the dish. The steak pie had burned pastry top and some of the meat was very dark colour from overheating.The peas were lukewarm.The trio of desserts were ok as long as you like chocolate and if you are going to serve them on the same platter then dont pour the sauce on as they are all tasting of one thing only. Spoke to the young lady serving us about our concerns and got a smile and that was it. Staying local and will not be back.

Called in after staying at a hotel nearby. A friendly welcoming locals pub. With a welcoming bar staff, friendly regulars and good pint of Guinness.

I had some time to kill, fending off boredom I headed the the Wheatsheaf. What a wonderful pub! Friendly locals and excellent staff. I came in myself and the locals / regulars were quick to accept me into their company and chat away. Next time I’m in the village I’ll happily pop back in!

Çozy wee place, friendly atmosphere, dog friendly, good choice of beers, spirits, wines etc, friendly, helpful bar staff, indoor and outdoor seating, good menu.

This is very much a village PUB rather than a restaurant. Not a place to go if you want a quiet meal. But a great place if you want to socialise.

Can't fault the food , friendliness. If one niggle ,though nobody at fault ,it can be a nightmare to park

Great food, service and atmosphere. It's great to see a busy pub. If you're into your desserts try the salted caramel brownie. Very tasty.

Good village pub. Me and my wife came to wetheral for our 9th wedding anniversary at the weekend and stopped here 3 times. Only strange thing was there's no smoking on astroturf but you can smoke right next to it on the concrete. Nice beer and outside area was spot on.

Popped in for a quick pint and packet of crisps during an impromptu dog walk. Excellent pint of Corby Ale awesome barmaid and XL crisp. Sat outside lovely beer garden.

This was a second visit. The food and beer was excellent. The service was second to none and my four friends who were with me were equally impressed.

Lovely pub. Friendly staff who greeted my dog with biscuits! The goats cheese starter was absolutely divine, easily a two person portion as far as starters go. The mushroom tortellini special of the day was also sublime. The veg curry was ok but the main thing that stood out for it was the onion chutney that came with it. The staff were also having a chat with a group (I assume locals) and it was so pleasant to hear their jokes/fun facts. Good parking space and plenty of outside seating too.

Lovely food, lovely waiting staff, spoiled by a person constantly using foul language at the bar next to us that constantly played videos on their phone that low and behold contained foul language while the bar staff member encouraged and joined in.

Enjoyed my meal but the beef was chewy and the Sunday had only one small scoop of ice cream and was dry and small. My friend had the crumble and that was delicious.

First time we've been here for a few years and we both really enjoyed it. Fast and friendly service, food was fab. I had cheese and leek sausages they were delicious. Two of us two courses each and a soft drink less than £50. Good to see a village pub so busy.

Fabulous as usual. Large menu selection. Also do small plates for lunch from the main menu along with sandwiches etc Lovely staff. Defnitely recommend.

Very pleasant pub good food always busy best to book.

On our way back from Northumberland we wanted to stop for food. Called here as reviews were good. Food wasn’t on on Tuesdays but the landlord books a fish n chip van in the carpark and you can get a drink from the bar and food from the van and sit outside. Really lovely experience and just what we fancied. I can highly recommend the pub especially on a Tuesday. Chippy tea is a must !! Brilliant idea too.

Visited when we stayed in Carlisle on way north. Found it by chance. Lovely pub, really busy but we were served quickly. Beer and wine were great. Didn't eat but the food looked and smelt amazing. Will pop in next time we pass !

By luck we found this place and it was great. Food was amazing and service was excellent. I had the burger and it will serve as a lasting memory until I return. Both my teenage kids loved their lunch and that says a lot.

Top spot after a walk down by the river

After travelling down on holiday we went in for food, chalk board up outside advertising food. Went in and was curtly told sorry mate when my husband asked if they did food. Admittedy was a Monday night so guessing only did food later in the week but no explanation plus why advertise.

Lovely sandwich with the wife today chilling by the lovely fire, really nice but £15 on main menu for gammon.. I'm thinking people won't be wanting to pay that when leccy rises kick in.... Lovely meal n ambience though I can't fault it xx

Visited the pub last night with friends haven’t been for quite some time and have to say food was amazing 🤩 none of us could fault it we had 3 courses and all of it was perfect…..thank you Chef Neil we will be back. The staff, service and atmosphere were also great. Highly recommend to anyone. 👍🏻😄

Stopped here for lunch on the way up to Scotland. Friendly, helpful staff, great food (we all had the pie), good real ales, nice beer garden. Can't fault it. Will definitely call in next time we're passing.

Great food good service, up in Northumberland on holiday for 5 days, my daughter found this place for traditional pub food on the outskirts of Carlisle. All enjoyed our food outstanding steak pie dinner, and one of the best Gammon meals I've ever had. A nice pint too, certainly call in again if I am in the area. Well worth Calling in

A village pub you would want to live next to. Convenient car park, lovely garden and large bar area. Excellent well-kept real ale, wide selection of good home cooking all served by helpful, friendly staff. Perfect "local" atmosphere. Silent, unobtrusive premier league footy on TV at one end. A perfect lunch stop for us.

Lovely food roast lamb was incredible and very sweetly gave us some food for our dog. What a shame when we went back and they were not serving food. We saw many people arrive for lunch and left because of this. All and all great friendly pub and great food when serving it

Lovely food, for the start of a birthday treat.

This was our lunchtime 'pitstop' on our journey to loch Lomond. Had booked for 12 but got there 30 minutes late. In no time we had ordered and the food soon appeared, excellent meal and service. Many thanks.
