one of the workers were so rude to me and my friend ,we are 14 and 15. she was giving us attitude.. like what was the need? the food was good at least. i definitely wouldn’t come again, terrible customer service

The food was lovely the staff where nice but I visited alone and was charged just under 18 pounds for a regular fish and chips with a soft drink very expensive and I get prime location in a city but I just thought it was very over priced

lovely food the halloumi and chilli jam is really nice even the peas are flavoursome not watery and bland like some places.

So please we called in here. As a person who has IBS I struggle to find batter that isn't too fatty. This batter was absolutely perfect. Fish was lovely too. Hubby said the mushy peas were "spot on" too. Will definitely be back.

Not happy with the size of fish chip we’re all bad food cold

Wonderful thick white fish in fluffy, crispy batter. The female member of staff was very chatty and friendly whilst we waited.

Takeaway shop at the front with restaurant to the back downstairs and upstairs. Friendly, helpful, and efficient staff. Good facilities and accessible. During my visit, a range of people were comfortably using the restaurant, including persons in wheelchairs. Clean and tidy, pay at the counter as you leave cash or card. Good menu options, including Steve Wilson Pies and Cumberland Sausage, of which I eat far too many already! So I opted for the small fish and chips, mushy peas, and a pot of tea. These were by far the best fish and chips I've had in Cumbria, so I'll be going again.

Lovely freshly cooked fish & chips! Went for a pensioners portion, plenty of both fish & chips with a portion of curry sauce & pot of tea. Good value & thoroughly enjoyed! Will be back

No chips with the sausage waited over 1 hour for a battered sausage will not be ordering again

Maybe a little expensive but considering the peace and quiet quality of food , nice staff then acceptable.

Have had a few orders now delivered and never received them like this food was cold and I always ask for fish to be well done but today it was slimy and as it was a x large could have been cooked more hubby didn’t mind so I had no food will try one more time and see if it works out

the town fryer special did not specify the size of the fish, we were very disappointed as we expected atleast a regular size fish and it was extremely small, for £10 we expected something more filling.

Food is nice but the service was a bad experience for me and my friends today. We’re 16 in college and going for lunch. We thought curry sauce was going to be in a pot as we payed for a pot and came with it on the chips instead. We were nice about it and asked if they could do it in a pot instead and there faces made us so embarrassed and a man chucked our chips in the bin and gave us a new one with a pot of curry sauce which we are thankful for now but they didn’t apologise or even talk to us. Their attitude as adults towards some kids is ridiculous.

When the food arrived the box was open so all the food was Luke warm and did not taste fresh. I normally get food from here when I’m in town and it’s normally lovely so I was very disappointed with the food today

The absolutely best fish and chips in the North of England. We're from Newcastle upon Tyne and travel to Carlisle once a week. Because we have dogs we have to eat outside BUT it's worth it. We have never had any complaint, wonderful fish and chips just wish they were near where I live.

Driver knocked on door and had returned to his car before i could answer the door and he left the food on the door step.

The Chips had been refried and were cold the small fish wasn’t freshly fried either it was cold Peas also were cold the large fish was Luke warm in other words the Whole Meal was Cold

I was a bit disappointed with the size of the large cod considering it was £15.99 with chips, but overall the food was delivered on time and arrived piping hot, and the driver was friendly. Fish and chips taste nice from here but it is on the pricey side if ordered via Just Eat.

Great chippy that me and the family have decided to call our traditional stop off point when we travel from Birmingham to Fife several times a year.. The chips and the curry sauce are to die for. Customer service could do with being more cheery, but the food is fantastic.

Avoid at all costs took my daughter for lunch we shared a portion of chips basically the chips were slapped on the plate like a mountain staff gathered behind till gossiping in general very unprofessional then to top it off place covered in tiny flys coming out of a plant in corner of room looked like the manager came and took plant away went passed us with the plant over my daughters head so we ended up with tiny flys on table I only went there as partner had took daughter at weekend first and last visit

Our 1st visit to Carlisle and saw this Fish and Chip shop so called in. The staff were first class and I can honestly say the food s the best I have every had in a Fish & Chip shop. Absolutely delicious.

Really good quality food . Service was good . Really enjoyed it.

Went for food today and ordered chicken bites and chips with salt, and chips with salt and vinegar. The lass on the front mixed up the orders and put vinegar on the chicken. I went back to ask her if she could remake it or something and she just said "what am i meant to do about it". Customer service with her was shocking, didnt get my food remade. Won't be going back again.

We did an online order and were not disappointed. It was so good to find fish and chips cooked in oil not lard. The huge chunk of cod was perfectly cooked and lovely and moist and the batter was thin and crispy. The home made tartare sauce was heavenly, low acid and lovely bits of crunchy pickle. The process from order to pick up was hassle free. The choice to have lots of salt and vinegar, medium or a little salt & vinegar was appreciated too. They said 30 mins wait time and they were spot on. Would we go back again - Absolutely YES - worth every penny. Thank you for great fish and chips and lovely friendly staff.

The wafer thin batter on the cod was amazing. This is a superb f and c shop.

Quality has gone down. Prices have gone up. Large fish and chips almost certainly is not. Very poor portion size. When you are paying just under £13 for one portion of a large you expect it to be that. Spotless clean takeaway and staff wonderful but food definitely not up to its past standard

An absolutely amazing chip butty, by far the best chip butty I've had in a long long time, could've quite easily gone back for another one but that's just greedy, for £2.95 it was very worth it, I could definitely return again👍

The food was basic as basic gets...and well over priced. Was practically ordered to go upstairs... By a foreign worker,.....some confusion as to how order was to be taken... At the table or the desk.... Atmosphere was like parlour of repose.... Giggling servers... Couldn't wait to get out.... Wont be back..!

I’ve been recommended to try the Stanwix fish and chip shop which is meant to be quite close to here but when I got there it seemed to be stripped out and closed. As I drove back towards my hotel I spotted The Friary and this turned out to be a fantastic spot. I had a small cod and chips but I wouldn’t say the fish was particularly small and a portion of chips was very generous. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The shop itself looks bright fresh and clean. And the quality of the food was very good. All in all a very good fish and chip shop.

The Fryery Scotland Road has to be the best place for fish and chips in Carlisle. Go for the Fryery Special which is great value for money, portion size is big enough for me to share with myself and my 7 year old daughter.

Small fish, chips and mushy peas on the tiniest plate possible. Was really nice food though. But too many tables crammed in.
