This is our third time for a bar meal at the greyhound and can’t fault it always friendly and lovely customer service I had good old gammon and chips it was well cooked and chips were lovely mam had crispy chilli beef said it was very tasty and beef tender and my partner had the homemade mince pie must have been good his plate was empty I finished off with sticky toffee pudding yum yum I would recommend the grey hound and the pub was warm and cosy we be back

A very nice, welcoming place where you can eat in the lovely dining area & then have a drink & talk in the snug room by the open fire.

We came for a meal whilst on our holiday recently. My partner has just been diagnosed as coeliac and they could not have been more helpful with suggestions of options for her. Thank you for going out of your way for us.

A great local village pub which is one of the main hubs of Cotehill village. Good food is available and there are regular social events. The village would not be the same without “The Greyhound” long may it prosper!!!

Excellent traditional pub, spacious, accomodating and very friendly chatty staff. Good pint of John Smiths. Food very tasty, well presented and large portions. Bit off the beaten track but very well worth a visit or two. We will definitely be back. Anybody staying at the motorhome club site if your thinking of going do it it's worth it, or I understand they will also deliver to site.

Good home cooked meals at reasonable prices

Lovely pub with good old fashioned large portions. Excellent pies and tarts, all home cooked, including the chips. Fantastic value for money. The TripAdvisor entry says. ££.??? We had starters and main course and 2 beers each for £25pp. Pretty cheap and surprisingly good quality. We were staying at the campsite at Englethwaite Hall. It's a pleasant half hour walk to the pub via the woods.

The lady of the pub is incredibly sweet, with a warm smile, the fish and chips was REALLY good with proper chips (that's quite rare), such a beautiful energy in this place, a lovely and peaceful moment I recommend it at 100%! Thank you for that! 🌸

Country pub in small village called Cotehil. We sat outside as we have a pooch. Beer is good and service great.

Recommended by the owner of the B&b I was staying at a few miles away, they also own, serve and cook here. A lovely local friendly staff and punters. Not bouncy, nice beer and lovely home good food. I had one of the Thursday specials Katsu curry with half rice and half chips, good portion, very tasty and a very reasonable price. Best meal I have had since leaving home a week ago. Great all rounder.

We had an evening meal here and there was a singer/comedian who was a great addition to a lovely visit. The staff were kind and friendly and even brought treats for our dog. The food was delicious and homemade, not mass produced microwave chain meals. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would recommend to anyone. Vegetarian options available

My parents have been to The Greyhound Inn before with my brother and his wife and said it was lovely food. So decide to give it a go, wasn't disappointed at all.Food was amazing, really tasty,good portion sizes. Plenty to choice on the menu. Well priced. Pub is really nice too, wonderful family run warm feel to the place. Landed lady was lovely and welcoming. Will definitely be going again in the future

First of all it took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive at our table, The service was friendly however quite slow, second of all the food was extremely cold and and had to request to send it back to the kitchen but when it returned back to our table after 10 minutes it was still cold. Thirdly very overpriced and didn’t even get a refund for the revolting food and fourthly the food has made two of the 6 customers vomit. The toilets were very unhygienic and had urine and pubic hair on the toilet seats.

So many village pubs have closed in recent years, it's wonderful to find one that's still open, and well supported by the locals and tourists alike. We've visited several times for drinks and also been for food. The meals are excellent and very reasonably priced, the Landlord, Landlady and staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great. What more could you want.

Whilst visiting relatives in the area, I visited the Greyhound Inn twice with them. The Inn has a very pleasant atmosphere and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had the Katsu Chicken curry, which was superb. For dessert, we tried the two Cheesecake options. The young lady who made them served us and explained that she makes various flavours including malteser. Unfortunately, we missed that one but the two flavours we had were both excellent. Well done to her. When I return to Cumbria, we will be back for more of their excellent food and hospitality. Thank you.

I was going to make this a very short review, but decided the staff needed a mention as well as the food. The staff are all young, or I’m getting old, and are brilliant. Very friendly and very helpful, always a smile on their faces, even when it got busy as locals arrived to watch the England v Croatia match. They have a policy of only taking bookings on half their tables, this enables them to accept walk-ins, but also turn them down if the kitchens look like they are becoming overwhelmed with orders, (something a place in one of my previous reviews could learn from). The Sunday lunch is one of the best I have ever had in a pub, and I’ve had lots. Good portions, good thick slices of tender meat, I never understand places that serve the meat so thin you can read the Sunday papers through them. Lots of good fresh vegetables, and a real homemade Yorkshire pudding, you can tell they’re homemade, no two are the same shape. Perfect.

Service very slow and chips undercooked! We were outside the front and no one came out to ask if everything was OK. Disappointed!

Good staff service first class good beer

My wife and I frequent this pub for drinks and food quite often and have got to know the landlady (Julie) and her husband Alistair (affectionately known as (Fat Fingers) to the locals and we find good food,ales,atmosphere,entertainment and most of all appreciation from the hosts first class as would most of the locals especially in these times of restrictions due to Covid 19 where most pubs have remained closed throughout,but not here, they show true British spirit and battle on best they can,serving the local community and also to outsiders if they wish to visit. There is adequate seating at the front of the pub and also a huge tent at the rear with heating although the sides have to be lifted up as to comply with rules. Passing through the bar area to gain access to the outdoor heated tent while wearing a mask I observed the Perspex screen at the bar which is another bonus in these trying times Fat Fingers can often be seen over a distance of 2metres away tucking into his well earned dinner as it is his own home after a hard days graft,if you want to risk life and limb to go near him in these uncertain times that is completely your own choice and not compulsory and easily avoidable, I will certainly visit this place again in the near future,keep up the good work !

Visited in April 2021. On arrival there were 3 men sitting in the bar drinking. Sitting in the bar at the time was NOT permitted under COVID 19 legislation. To make this worse, they did NOT have masks on and were sitting at the only point that you make your way to the garden. We had to wait quite a while for them to move. Whilst waiting several more customers walked through without masks. Later, when we went to pay, there were again people sitting around the till area in the corridor. We mentioned this to the Landlady, who went to look and then came back to say 'That's My Husband'. SO YOUR HUSBAND'S EXEMPT FROM THE RULES THEN???? Can't complain about the food. The young staff obviously wouldn't ask the owner to move or comply with the rules. We visit the area regularly but WON'T come here again.

had a wonderful meal , the food was superb, great selection locally sourced ingredients . the host was very friendly and accommodating and the chef excellent. good selection of drinks.highly recommended we were in the heated marque at the rear of the pub where social distancing was well organised

We walked from nearby campsite, despite meeting someone who advised us against the Greyhound. We suspect he has not been there in ages - the food really good, new nice decor, freindly staff, and sensible Covid precautions. Not twee, just a nice pub amidst lovely countryside.

We came here on a Monday night without really having high expectations, we just wanted a pub tea. What we got was delicious, interesting and satisfying and far better than we expected. The menu was wide ranging enough for a family of four vegetarians, and both kids and parents were impressed. Just when we thought we couldn't eat any more we had the most amazing desserts as well. Definitely worth a visit.

Ok for a pub meal, so much competition in the area from others offering better quality at a similar price range.

We arrived in Cumbria from London yesterday on holiday and decided to come here for Sunday lunch and the food is stunning and the service is amazing, the owners are really welcoming and the food is fantastic. We will be coming loads while here as it’s an amazing place. Highly highly recommend it.

First visit today but it won't be the last We live in the next village and will certainly return A beautiful Sunday Dinner and delicious pudding

This is my 3rd visit to this pub since I first came to the nearby caravan site in 2011. I always make a visit for a meal when I am here. I think there may have been a change of ownership since my last visit in 2015 however apart from that the place is as welcoming as ever & the food & service are still excellent. Here's to my next visit

Great village pub, lovely home cooked food

On the sign outside it said it opened at 12 noon, this was on Saturday 13th July. Four of us left after wating 10 minutes that was after trying the door.

We were staying at a local tourer site. We had a meal here which was very good. People very welcoming will be back when next in the area

Just back from here and will definitely be back .Proper no nonsense, delicious, plentiful pub food which was cooked well and hearty enough to fill a hungry appetite. Staff really pleasant and to top it all some fantastically kept ales.Looking forward to a return visit.

Called for a meal this week. The Greyhound is a proper pub, welcoming, warm, friendly and the food was very good. I had the chicken Leoni which was very tasty and my hubby had Chinese chicken curry, which was also very good. The lady who served us was lovely and told us about the place. Could deffo recommend.

Nice staff but quite an unpleasant pub with plastic shot glasses, poor Guinness (head full of bubbles) and the specials written on a tacky light board. Food looked pallid and lifeless. Shame as could be a lovely historic village pub.

We had a great meal here last night, my uncle and cousin are regulars but it was our first visit. A varied menu and a few specials so hard to choose, but everyone was happy with their food and there weren't many leftovers. Everything seemed to have been freshly prepared, and the desserts were delicious. A friendly team running a welcoming pub.

We walked here from our inn down the street. What a great pub and restaurant. To my delight it was dog friendly so I got to meet some four legged patrons. The bar was well stocked and the food was freshly prepared pub fare that was very tasty. I had fish and chips of an enormous proportion. Chips were perfection. The sticky toffee pudding was the best I had during my two week vacation. I loved this place!

Very nice pub and shop love the food

We were camping in the area and looking for somewhere to watch the Liverpool champions league final and have a meal. We found the Greyhound and went into inquire and they were all very friendly reserving us a table infront of the tv for later in the evening. The meal we had was excellent and the friendliness continued through all the staff and the locals who joined us watching the game.

A group of us went for an evening meal. Staff friendly and made us feel welcome. Plenty of choice on the menu and specials board. Food good. Will go again.

The service and food was outstanding, everything freshly cooked and plentiful. Unfortunately a group of locals were in and despite us having our 3 year old daughter with us they continued to use bad language. The waitress apologised but in the end we didn’t want to experience any more so we left. Shame as we were having a lovely meal.

Todos tuvimos el cordero asado, que era excelente, tenía dos tipos de patatas y verduras frescas. 4 Las verduras estaban bien cocinados, así como el cordero. Las raciones eran suficiente para satisfacer incluso a los apetitos más hambre. Los postres eran caseros y otra vez eran muy buenos.

Un amigo nos recomendó el almuerzo en el greyhound y fuimos ayer. La comida era muy fresca, casera y muy sabrosa. Incluso postres caseros. Ambiente encantador y un personal muy amable y nada era demasiado problema. Una gran relación calidad-precio. Sin duda volveré cuando estamos pasando.
