Lusty Glaze Beach Restaurant in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

We spent a day at Lusty Glaze enjoying the relaxing atmosphere, and decided to have a bite to eat whilst there. Decided to have a pizza to share. Pizza was a good size and looked great and tasted ied really nice. The only thing, i would have prefered the pizza base to have been a bit more cooked and crispy. But that's my preference, as the wife thought it was prefect for how she liked her pizza bases.

Fantastic place to sit and eat and/or drink looking out over Lusty Glaze Bech and its dog friendly too. Only minor problem is its quite a way down the steps from the coast path but you can walk around the beach when the tide is out to talk a more gentle walk back into town!

We ate at 129 in August 2024 and had a great meal. There's a nice selection of dishes on the menu, and the food, service and general ambience of the restaurant were all great - the staff in particular are very friendly and helpful. We had an excellent evening. And given the good quality of the food I thought it was reasonably priced too.

We do Love this place, it was a very busy evening and we waited so long for drinks and for our food which did spoil it a bit. It was our wedding anniversary dinner so it’s a shame. Also, we were in the cafe section a few days earlier with our daughter and her friends , one of her friends went away from our table and was vaping, a crew member chap called over very firmly that you can’t vape in here , she stopped vaping, however on our dinner evening there were people vaping in the cafe area and that was all we could smell , I asked the waitress and she said they are allowed to vape in that area ?? So would be good to know who is correct. We do like 129 and the cafe & beach so will come back but a shame on this particular evening.

Lovely cove, sea, sunset, live music, people, doggies and food….cant really ask for more, this is a gem in what is a rather eclectic/ hit and miss Newquay…highly recommended

We would definitely recommend! We had a wonderful experience at the restaurant after getting married at lusty glaze beach. Nat and the staff on the evening were amazing and the food was great all the family loved it! The 3 courses we all had was delicious and amazing quality food and presentation. What an amazing venue too and the view overlooking the sea was wonderful. Thank you again for everything and all the support up to the run up to the wedding with the reservation. We called in on a Monday in late October after a good walk and paddle across the beaches. We were welcomed into the warm and my partner enjoyed tea and cake while I opted for a pint. The staff were busy moving furniture and fittings ahead of an expected storm, but still took time to chat briefly to us. We will definitely call in here again.

Up until Friday morning (13th), Lusty Glaze was one of my favourite places in Cornwall. My husband and I popped in with our two dogs for coffee and cake but were unfortunately left feeling very disappointed in comparison with all our previous visits. No warm welcome, in fact no welcome at all, no staff customer engagement, no fuss made of the dogs, no water, beds or treats for them. All washed down with very mediocre coffee served in paper cups. My husband had to ask for a fresh coffee as his tasted so bad. No mention or offer of snacks or cake! All in all a far cry from the usually wonderful experience we’ve grown to love over the years 😞😞

We came for a meal me and my partner and left feeling very disappointed. The view the waiter and the wine was good, but the food on the other hand wasn’t. After receiving a £130 bill you would of expected amazing food and after booking it through the ‘pickled chef’ himself and after seeing he made it on to masterchef I was very shocked at what we actually received not to mention looking at his instagram and he was about to leave lusty glaze we definitely thought he checked out already when we had our meal. He wasn’t what we expected and being a chef I was excited to see what he had to offer! We had the seafood platter that was £80!! For the two of us!! We expected so much seafood.. it came and I think a weather-spoons could have done better . We had about 3 prawns, no scallops on the platter, we had a very small bowl of mussels, there was no seafood on the platter, frozen bagged chips and not even a dressed salad.. we didn’t say anything at first because we didn’t want to spoil our time together but after going to leave I spoke to the manager and he said he would of compensated and did apologise he then came back later on and said he will refund us a little money.. he said it would take 3-4 days to go back into your account!! we never ever received a thing! We won’t ever be returning! One of our favourite beaches in Newquay but will stick to the pizza on the beach next time!

Wow what an excellent experience we had!! The pickled chef and the lusty glaze team are incredible! Me and my boyfriend visited on a Thursday evening and it was just amazing , the food was absolutely delicious and we were really impressed with the service. The atmosphere was really magical, we enjoyed live music which really added to the experience! Would definitely recommend!

So, we always said that if we “did it”, we’d only do it at Lusty! Having decided at the end of 2022, that we’d look into getting hitched, we popped down to meet the wedding team at Lusty to see what dates they had free, and we chose July 2023… not a longtime to plan! We booked the Exclusive Beach wedding on a Saturday in July, and we had all the beach accommodation from the Friday night before. Was it worth it? YES! The Pickled Chef kicked off the pre wedding celebrations with a fabulous meal for several friends and family on Friday evening, and he did a phenomenal job of catering the wedding feast for 80 people - Thanks Rich! Naomi (who I will LOVE forever), looked after us all on the day, and at every step on the way; EVERYTHING went to plan without a hitch. Even though it was forecast torrential rain, and gale force winds on the day, the sun came out and the rain stayed at bay (we feel rather smug about this complete change in weather - but it’s Cornwall, and it can happen!) As we’re super lucky to live in Newquay, and we’ll be popping back regularly too re-live our fabulous day. Huge love to all the team - and thank you to Andy for ferrying my parents luggage up and down those steps (they’re in their late 70’s - think he took pity on them) Tons of love & hugs - Jules & Rich x x x x

We went for the advertised stone baked pizza, but they were really poor. The pizza bases were out of a packet cooked in an electric pizza oven rather than being properly stone baked, and there was far too much cheese put on the pizzas resulting in incredibly greasy pizza. Two of the three pizzas were also undercooked with the pizza bases still quite raw. Very poor and the pizzas were not cheap compared with other better options locally.

Lusty Glaze is a fabulous beach. As beaches go, it’s got style. It has a vibe like no other beach in Newquay.

Looking for a special restaurant on the beach for our anniversary meal we came across this amazing place on the next beach round from our campsite. There were no menus or pricings online but I booked anyway as it was a special night, we were on holiday and I just wanted a good meal. The menu isn't exactly massive and to be honest I didn't really fancy much of it but we opted for starters which were great and the Tomahawk Steak sharer for our main. I am honestly not a steak person but my husband is and we ordered it medium. When it arrived the pinkness immediately made my throat try and close up but after tasting my first bite.......OMG......It was amazing. Honestly I have never had a steak like it. The quality, the flavours, spices, seasonings and general presentation really did blow me away. I will probably never habe a steak like that in my life and can still taste every bite. The service was amazing and we really felt like we were treated so well. We also had a cheesecake for dessert which was lovely but it was honestly the steak for me! The only thing I really could have done with was a better cocktail menu as the setting really was so perfect & would have happily sat there longer with a couple of cocktails in my hand. The £152 bill was pretty steep but I was happy to pay as everything we ordered was spot on & that steak was so worth it! If you don't have the budget ust pop down for a pizza and a beer & watch the sunset as it is just as magical as a fancy pants meal in the restaurant!

Located on beach, lovely romantic setting; staff are lovely and friendly but food was overall a little disappointing. We ordered 2 mains and 1 dessert and soft drinks; bill was c£60. Fish Taco: was pretty good: has good variety of fish, nicely flavoured and came with a crab salad… though salad was not washed properly- so was gritty/sandy….overall 4/5 Mussels: not too bad but came with some cold bread which was not fresh… would have been better if at least warmed … 3/5 Desserts platter… this was supposed to be a selection of the other desserts but was a mix of some of the desserts and some cakes which overall was just sweet without major discernible flavour … and I was with someone who loves sweet food.. so this was a bit of a shame 1/5 I would go back but came away feeling that food did not live up to some of the other reviewer’s experiences.

We booked the Pickled Chef pop up at the Lusty Glaze as a 'special' meal on the last day of our holiday in Cornwall and it was perfect! The venue is beautiful (even in the drizzly rain!) and the staff were welcoming and very helpful with recommendations. We ordered the 'surf & turf' sharing platter and it was breath taking when it came out. I was completely overwhelmed and my boyfriend said "I could cry at how good this steak is"! 🤣 We had a truly memorable meal and would recommend a trip to anyone who can get booked in. We we definitely be booking the Pickled Chef when his new restaurant opens near us in the future!

24th June 2023 we were lucky enough to not only get married, but along with our guests, spend the whole weekend at Lusty Glaze with the beach & accommodation all the ourselves!! I can’t put into words what a truly wonderful weekend we had!! The sun was shining, the sea was cool & calm, the sand was soft & warm between our toes & we spend the day before the wedding taking a dip in the sea & chatting on the beach with cocktails!! We had a beautiful meal by the pickled chef on the Friday night which was just amazing! 5* to him, he’s incredible! 👌 The wedding morning me & the bridesmaids had a morning dip in the rock pools before a glass of champagne! We were met with groomsmen howling with laughter, running down the beach to have a Jump in the waves before the real work began! The wedding was gorgeous. Because the weather was perfect we chose to have it on the golden Cornish sand, overlooking the blue ocean as the most stunning backdrop. We had beach theme music 🎶 playing on the beach as the guests arrived & soaked up that ocean blue view! The food was perfection! We had burgers, koftas, salmon & a range of sides. Dessert we went for chocolate explosion which was to die for!! We booked a pirate plus 2 Mermaids for the children through Grace at “Hire a mermaid Uk” who were pure magic for my daughter & niece ! They were captivated as they chatted about eating seaweed & tales of the a magical underwater world! Then they swan into the sea to wave a farewell before leaving!! The pirate played games & danced with the children on the beach. We danced on the sand into the night thanks to the fabulous “The Struts” & “Fistral Stereo” We had all the accommodation over the weekend, some guests stayed on the beach pods which were overlooking the beach & had the most fantastic venue! The beds are near a big window so you can look out at the ocean whilst reading a book in bed!!! Perfect!! Each pod has a toilet & shower directly underneath, so have to go back down the steps & onto the beach to use them but I thought that was a nice touch! Little late night beach trip to the loo!! The cottage & chalet are rustic & really nice inside! I believe the cottage is the original building from when Lusty glaze was brought & it really does have that old sailor costal feel to it but beautiful & modern inside without losing the character of it. Thanks to Faye - the venues wedding planner who was brilliant from the start & worked hard to make sure everything was as we wanted & didn’t stop all day the poor soul! Reece - took over from Faye on the evening & worked hard to keep the drinks flowing & everyone happy!! But he did an amazing job! Pickled chef - for all his drop dead gorgeous food & cocktails 🍹 Thanks to all the bar staff & people behind the scenes for making our day so special 💕 what an amazing place to work!! We had THE wedding only dreams are made of, straight out of a Disney film! Lusty Glaze will forever hold a special place in our hearts 🌊 ❤️ See you soon! Xxx

The location is perfect for date night set on a beautiful little beach that's was empty when we went for dinner.the restaurant as in looks was lovely but the food really let the hole experience down and for that we won't return.there was only one member of staff working on the floor.he was lovely and very polite.our bill came to £87 and we had one starter, 2 mains ,table water and a coke.the food tasted like it was a tescos microwave meal....you could taste the seasoning power in the sauce and wasn't much to it.the menu was very limited and even then there were a few items out of stock...was charged at 15% service charge without even having option to take it off.such a shame as we was really looking forward to going and left very disappointed.all in all location and looks of restaurant was perfect but food let it all down.sort that out and re address prices(as food definitely was not worth what was charged)would be 10/10
