I can’t remember service this friendly ( genuinely friendly, rather than a professional attempt) in a long time. Chatty staff who served us quickly and efficiently with a complicated order, and got it dead right. The light lunch of filled baguettes and coffee was very good too. Well worth a visit if you’re in St Just, or nearby. And yes, you can buy cookbooks too.

We were passing through St Just and stumbled upon The Cookbook Cafe on a side street. A lucky find for us! Food and service were wonderful - we shared a Cheese Tea and a Cream Tea. I don't normally review on TripAdvisor but I wanted to say that this cafe does a lot right. The staff are lovely, the toilet is clean and the ingredients are high quality... but, they need to be more careful about allergens, all of the side salads were covered or combined with celery... I am not allergic, but I can't eat celery for other health reasons and I work in the food industry... there are no warnings. The bacon was delicious, but the chilli salsa was just a few chopped up bits of onion, pepper and a little chilli... on the whole they have so much potential, but disappointing.

This is a small place and a bit of a rabbit Warren so don't be upset if whoever is serving walks past you, they generally get to you but sitting in the more visible seats helps. The men is pretty much cafe fare but the breakfasts are excellent, and the poached eggs perfect, making a nice change. You get a good wedge of locally made bread toasted to go with this. My wife and I stayed for a week in Sennen Cobe and she’d been hankering after a proper Cornish cream tea all week... yesterday we hiked along the beautiful Cornwall south west coat path to Cape Cornwall and by the time we arrived had worked up quite an appetite! A little inland from Cape Cornwall we happened upon the gorgeous little cafe and book shop called The Good Cook. The lady that served me couldn’t have been more fun or more helpful! She took my empty water bottle from me and filled it up and took our order for 2 cream teas.... actually you get so much for just one person (two scones, a big toasted tea cake thingy, two little squares of delicious cake and a big pot of clotted cream and jam!) that we shared the spoils and just ordered extra tea. It was 50mph winds but was bright sunshine so we sat outside and watched the world go by while enjoying our fabulous cream feast. 5*...... deffo recommend

The Cook Book is a perfect little café cum shop with a friendly yet quaint atmosphere in the picturesque setting of St Just. The food is all locally sourced & you can buy pretty much everything you can see whilst you sit having your breakfast. The food is very reasonably priced for the quality & the staff are ever so friendly which goes a long way in my opinion. There is a no phone rule which I think just adds to the peaceful atmosphere of the café. You’re allowed to use your phone as long as it’s on silent but should you get a phone call, you have to take it outside. The hot drinks are also very well made, and I think that the snacks you can buy to take out are also worth a mention. Whilst I didn’t buy any, I thought they looked delicious. On each occasion local people were also eating there, a sure sign of a good establishment. My first meal was a pasta dish so I asked for a side salad, which was large enough to be a meal in itself! Soup is accompanied by thick slices of local Baker Tom’s bread, so delicious that I ordered a loaf to take home at the end of my holiday.

Had a lovely lunch here, simple good food. Lovely local sausages and cream teas. Nice little shop too.

I live locally and have been quite a few times in the past, but was disappointed this time round. The food was pretty average, they got our order wrong twice, and the same happened to the family sitting next to us. One waitress apologised for not being very good at making hot drinks, and said that we could take it back in if it wasn’t up to our standards, which was sweet of her, but not particularly encouraging. I don’t know what’s changed, but I hope they revert to the way they were before soon...

Went here with my mum and sister today for lunch. The menu had lots of tempting options but I settled on a cheese scone served with cheese, chutney and grapes. Very generous portion of cheese and butter and very tasty! My Mum had bacon and eggs and my sister a bacon and egg baguette - both looked lovely with eggs cooked exactly as requested and thick tasty bacon. We got Rocky road, lemon meringue cake and toffee cake to eat as a snack later, all were equally delicious. We sat outside in the glorious sunshine and barely noticed we were beside a road. Might put some off I suppose. Fair prices too!

I had been to this café over eight years ago and it was then a great place. This time, I was disappointed with the cream tea, which comprised of 2 scones, jam, cream and a saffron bun as well as a pot of tea. [£ 7.25].

Found this delightful upstairs cafe by chance and had some of the best vegetarian food for a long time. We were made very welcome and chose the hummus bowl and roasted veg toasted sandwich. Both were excellent and very filling.

I've only ever called in for a beer but no complaints so far and staff are nice too. There's a big beer garden which is very useful for the kids and dogs.

The ice creams here are beautiful! Really generous portions and are very well presented. The customer service we received was outstanding, my daughter had a massive meltdown (ASD) and they were nothing but supportive, understanding and helpful. We'd had a very tough day today with meltdowns galore and this one was by far the worst of the day yet I never felt alone or judged. People like you make the biggest difference and I am so very grateful for you going out of your way to help and care. Thank you x
