The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving British food

First time in The Bon Vivant for me and it was perfect. We went for lunch and the menu was enticing. Our son and daughter in law know the place well and pointed us to the small bites. It turned into a VERY long lunch as the small bites kept arriving and we hoovered them up accordingly,with a selection of beers and wines accompanying them. No way could anyone manage a main course after what we got through 😂 Thank you to our attentive waiter and waitress for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Now I'm off to Google to find a fasting regime!

From the moment we walked in, it was clear this place takes pride in everything they do. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the service was impeccable, and the food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. You can tell the kitchen team really knows their craft — each plate felt like it was made with care and passion. The ingredients were fresh, the portions generous, and everything came out piping hot and perfectly timed. What really made the experience stand out though was the team. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they do. A huge shout-out to the manager, [Insert Manager’s Name], who was visible, approachable, and clearly leading by example. You could feel the positive energy from the whole team, and it made a big difference. Whether you’re after a special meal or just looking to treat yourself, this place is a must-visit. Hats off to the manager and the entire team — you’ve created something truly special here. We’ll definitely be back!

Esto sería 5 y no 4 si el vino era bueno y no pusieron carteles reservados en las mesas sin un tiempo de la reserva. De hecho, no deberían reservar mesas. Este es un pub y sirve excelentes pasteles. ¡Es un hecho! El personal es amable y el servicio es muy bueno. Las cervezas a mano están bien cuidadas y hay una buena selección de las cosas gaseosas. Tenía pollo con pastel de relleno de salchichas y mi amigo tenía una de las variedades de filetes. Tuvimos suerte de encontrar una mesa, aunque el taco de billar intervino algunas veces y tuvimos la suerte de que no - nadie quería jugar a los dardos o el bandido, ya que habríamos tenido que movernos. Junto a nuestra mesa había un extraño conjunto de sofás ocupando un montón de espacio (donde podrían tener mesas y sillas en su lugar). Así que 6 / 5 para los pasteles y 3 / 5 para el diseño. ¿He mencionado las tartas preciosas?

Exceptional! We were here on Saturday for our anniversary and were treated to a fantastic meal with excellent service, highly recommended!

Been here many times over the years and always enjoyed my meal. Went last week and last night and both bad experiences. Last night had to wait 50mins for our food, it came out cremated and dry. The sole special was so dry and overcooked. My 10 year old started crying he was so overwhelmed waiting and his chicken goujons came out overcooked and again dry. Serious lack of table service. Won’t be back until I hear it’s improved.

OUTSTANDING cuisine - gorgeous to the eye and of exceptional good tasting food. Interesting menu with a small but wide range of choices for each course. Friendly and helpful staff. Young and very talented chef. HIGHLY recommended.

So glad I popped in - fab place! These cafes are the heart and soul of London and need to be supported. Nice friendly chat with the owner, top nosh, and great London vibes. Oh and go and see the Sherlock pics if you're a fan :-)

Lovely friendly atmosphere with excellent food and good service

Great pub, with excellent food, super fresh and tasty, excellent portions, great service theres a really nice atmosphere and a great pool tabel. I had the ribs and they were full ribs with a fresh chimichurri sauce. absolutely delicious and perfect pint of korev

It's been at least 6 years since we were here last. As good as then. The reason it's been so long, we have not been able to get a booking, it's that popular.

Everything about our visit today was superb! Stunning view of Sandown Bay helped by glorious weather. Both of my friends had accessibility needs and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, nothing was too much trouble and genuinely friendly. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Am already planning my next visit. Go there, you won't be disappointed!

A pleasure to visit, most definitely our favourite local pub

Stunning view, tasty food and drinks with reasonable prices. My daughters love the kids meal a lot, recommend Cream tea set, scone so big and clotted cream is delicious.

Cafe was great, very good coffee and delicious cake. Very impressive range of freshly made cakes that all looked lovely. Staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. Looking forward to returning.
