Peggottys cafe in North Norfolk

Go here almost weekly, haven't found a better breakfast in town, all traditional and non greasy the large is a must and still at a very reasonable price. The other food is also very good and good value for the portion size. We don't eat anywhere else in town now as all the others we've tried are not as good.

This establishment offers Great food, at a reasonable price. Really well cooked and very wholesome and tasty. Staff are extremely pleasant and very accommodating. Having visited many times I can confidently say you will not be disappointed with your meal or the service.

Came to Cromer for a day out. As we left early and didn't eat before we left home, we thought we would come in here for a breakfast. The place was clean and inviting. We were quickly asked what we would like. My daughter and I choose the full English breakfast. It was lovely, sausages were very nice. I was told by a member of staff that they came from a local butcher. All the food was hot and freshly cooked. The staff were very friendly. Very pleased, will return next time we visit Cromer.

We had a very generous Sunday roast. It was delicious & all the vegetables were fresh. We followed it with homemade trifle. The service was excellent & we would definitely return

This is the best cafe in Cromer. The food is delicious, home cooked with care by lovely people who are so welcoming. We took our two small dogs and had the most brilliant time. It’s amazing value, original and has a fantastic atmosphere. I will be going back!!!!

We came here for breakfast while we were staying locally..it was so good, we had to go back! We had the large breakfast (2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, beans, mushrooms, hash brown and 1 slice of toast) Sausages were meaty and delicious, the bacon, mushrooms, beans and hashbrown were really tasty. The eggs had such golden yolks, and were cooked to absolute perfection (runny yolks but set white), they went so well with the thick slice of toast (you could taste the freshness of the bread). Excellent value for money. This would definitely be a regular visit if we lived closer and we would certainly go back when we are next in the area. The staff were so lovely and welcoming too. This is a dog friendly cafe.

What a lovely place! Really friendly owners. And the food? We had the large all day breakfast and it was one of the best we've had. Generous portion, hot and good value. The toast was delicious too - lovely bread. Highly recommended!

Decided not to have breakfast at accommodation, but look for an alternative. After doing my homework, found what was to be a very good choice. The guy who served us was polite and helpful, and service was promp and efficient. Ordered 3 small breakfast's and 2 pot's tea, delivered quickly. Breakfast was ample and tasty, lovely bacon n sausage with thick crusty toast. Will most definitely be returning, your a shining star in Cromer.

After researching ‘best breakfast in Cromer’ we were disappointed in two of the cafes we visited, one was closed the other didn’t seem to want to serve us…. so we started exploring…… and found Peggotys. We are so glad we did, our breakfast was cooked to order, excellent quality bacon and sausage, really good coffee, we would say for value and quality also very friendly staff Peggotys is the best for breakfast in Cromer. Enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch here. Turkey or Pork available on the day we visited. Turkey was lovely and tender, not at all dry. Served with mash & roast potatoes, yorkshire, 4 veg and gravy. Very tasty and service was good. Very popular but didn't have to wait long at all.

Today I enjoyed a good all day vegetarian breakfast and mug of tea in a clean and smart cafe at a fair price and served by an efficient and friendly young man - highly recommended.

Chose the Steak ale and mushroom suet pudding. Served piping hot on a hot plate, not something you get everywhere! Lovely fresh veg with it too. An excellent meal and reasonable price.

Stopped here for a breakfast bacon sandwich after a cold morning on the beach and was blown away by the quality of the food. Big soft bread, great quality bacon and a nice mug of tea. Friendly owners make it really worth it

We were looking for somewhere to have a drink and a sandwich for lunch, while we were looking at the menu, a table inside was served a Sunday lunch. It looked so good it made up our minds we went in. We both had Sunday lunch all home cooked with lots of fresh veg even the gravy was very tasty. What a treat the food was excellent, not the poshest looking cafe in Cromer but boy the food was good. Had lunch here yesterday with my wife and daughter.We had a litle wait to be served, but it was really busy. We were made very welcome and we were promptly served with our drinks. The food when it came was on piping hot plates and it was freshly cooked. The daughter and I had the all day breakfast. The sausages were made at the local butchers and the bacon was lean and very nice. The beans were quality beans not the bulk buy catering ones. There was lashings of toast from locally produced loaves with a plentiful supply of butter. All in all very good. My wife had the chicken and leek pudding. Nice suet pastry with plenty of filling and steaming hot chips. All very good value for money. The waitress was extremely pleasant and helpfull and the chef was very chatty as well.

Stopped for a quick bite of lunch and although the cafe does not immediately stand out from the rest on the outside what makes up for it is the food.The tuna sandwiches are among the best i've ever had due to the bread they are served in which is outstandingly good (don't ever change your bread supplier!)I would recommend this cafe to all for a nice quick lunchtime menu.

Visited this cafe for the first time today, the prices were really good and the food was amazing, good portions too. Really lovely staff too!! The atmosphere was nice, perhaps a little too quiet at times, could use some music low in the background or a tv on low. Highly recommend this place, will be returning!!

Popped in on Tuesday this week for lunch.I had a cheese and tomatoes sandwgood and my husband had a ham toastie and chipsIt was brilliant the sandwich was on thick bread which comes from the local bakery and it was so fresh,also the toastie was full of ham.The menu is very good and the prices are very good.Do pop in,the staff are very friendly and a good laugh.

Myself and my Wife went to cromer, and we popped in for lunch, the lasagne is worth travelling for, the service excellent and friendly, the price, for the food and portion 15 out of 10. Please do not take my word,just try for yourself.

I enjoyed the roast dinner except the Yorkshire pud was over done, otherwise a good deal for money, plenty of meat but had to ask for pepper and sauce.the desert was quite big as well !

Under new ownership for the last year so thought we would try it again. Reasonably priced menu but drinks could be a bit cheaper. Varied menu, Nicely cooked food, ample portions, friendly staff. Will dine again.

I was greeted with smiles and a large, well priced menu. Steak and chips, lasagna, salads, jacket potatoes, a good sized children's menu. I opted for the vegetarian breakfast (only £6!) and was not disappointed. All the standards for a vegetarian brekky but with a mountain of fresh, hot, thick toast and a vegetable patty (unusual for this meal but a lovely touch). Minimalistic decoration, music could be a nice touch but the quiet meant I could read my book happily.. and the best bit... Dogs are welcome! Wonderful.

After having 'Chips with everything' meals for most of our week in Cromer it was nice to find a simple café that does real English food like you would make yourself. You can even have vegetables! The portions were the right size for us and we didn't see any dogs. Excellent place for a simple homely lunch.

Myself and my brother stopped at this cafe on a Sunday morning. It was the first time we had been there for several years and noticed it was under new ownership since our last visit.

Quick service. Cheapish food, but portion sizes quite small. 30 minute parking options right outside the front door. Quirky little place.

Good friendly service. Food served quickly considering it's fresh not frozen. Very good value. Dog friendly which hasn't put us off as they can only occupy two tables near the door, and you are able to find a seat away from them if you wish. I agree with some previous comments that it does lack a bit of atmosphere and background music would help.

We ften visit Cromer and head for peggottys. Yes it is very simple and maybe lacking atmosphere but orders taken and food brought to table. Hot and fresh. I had egg sausage chips. And all cooked very well. The bacon is quality. I assume from local butcher across the road. Lovely chunky fresh bread. Good portion. Chatty staff.

While the food here was really nice, as well as being MASSIVE portions for a small price, there was zero atmosphere. A little background music would have really helped! Staff were average, but we were shocked to find there was no wash basin in the WC!

This place is a gem of a cafe. Six quid got me a great fry up and a steaming hot cup of tea. Friendly with quick service WiFi and air con an independent that beats the chains first try. Top council cleanliness rating(5 green dots). Fat and tasty sausage and smoked bacon just how it should be cooked and packed with taste. Thanks Mach.

We stopped for Sunday lunch and it was superb. Two had beef and 1 had pork, Hugh Yorkshire pudding and 4 veg. Desserts were also excellent, couldn't decide between cherry or apple pie so asked them to surprise me and they did. A piece of each!! Made a special visit on the last day of our holiday, although disappointed there was no liver casserole left I had gammon and the others steak and kidney pudding. The gammon was so well cooked and tender and the puddings were filled with meat. Service was excellent and great value for money. I would definitely visit again if I am holidaying near Cromer.

Popped in here for breakfast. The cafe is dog friendly as long as you sit in one of the two tables by the window (not sure why). The prices are cheap, but the food was fine if a little basic. I’m not sure I would rate it very good, but it was better than average (have long thought that Trip Advisor needs to update their scoring system). Service was friendly and efficient.

My husband and I chose our meals from the menu on the table. My husband had lasagne and I chose a mixed seafood platter. The staff twice came to tell me that the platter had altered slightly both in content and name and one of them said that the menu on the table was out of date. It wasn’t until I was eating my meal that I noticed a chalk board showing dishes and prices, it was only then that I saw my meal was a full £3 more than shown on the menu. Neither of the waitresses had mentioned a price increase. Although the food was ok I won’t be returning.

For the second year running we have returned to this nice cafe at breakfast time. Like last year the owner goes out to other places and purchases good local produce and freshly baked bread in the morning, and when he returns to his cafe he greets people with a nice good morning. Like last year we both enjoyed very good breakfasts, and good helpings of bread were brought to our table like last year. The breakfasts are reasonably priced and the people who work there are nice. The cafe has a relaxing atmosphere and is a good cafe for local residents and other visitors.

Had a very nice fry up here one morning and prices very reasonable. A good plate full complete with a generous round of toast with a great cup of tea. A good choice on the menu. Staff friendly and efficient. Premises clean and well maintained. Highly recommended.

Very popular and very busy throughout the time we were there. Very quick service and lovely staff. Food was great and really enjoyed the chunky bread. Both children couldn't finish their breakfast but I managed to help. Really well priced and definitely worth stopping off at for breakfast.

Wife and I had lunch was fine,however we had just finished an elderly couple came in and sat down with two small dogs,I guess this is a dog friendly cafe we were lucky we had just finished our meal or else we would have paid and leave as it is not hygienic to eat with dogs close by.

Well, as the title says, if you are looking for a very good fuel-up breakfast to see you through the day, then head straight to this proper (old-style) little cafe. It's run by a delightful Italian proprietor. I chose the large breakfast (£6) and I have to say what a pleasure it was to eat because he uses good quality bacon and sausages, plus it's a delight to be presented with proper (door-step) toast, rather than the usual crap bread one is given at most other cafes. Big mug of tea £1. Lovely! I can't comment about other food that that he produces because I just wanted an english!

We've been visiting Peggoty's now for probably about 12 years on and off and for good value, no nonsense food it's ideal.

Had a short break in Cromer with my family and visit this little cafe in town... Living in London made me appreciate the extremely friendly service, their breakfast and why not the extremely low prices...

I don't usually do this but wanted others to know. I went here with my two children for a 'quick' bite to eat. Just a vegie burger and cheese sandwich and it took 45 minutes. The burger was just in a bun, nothing else but my son enjoyed the cheese sandwich. After I had finished I paid and commented on the long wait time, hardly an apology. I took my son to the bathroom and upon returning our table had be cleared, he hadn't finished his lunch! I told the waitress and she didnt return so we left with a still hungry boy! Very disappointed with this and will not be returning.

This cafe has some great reviews and we have no complaint about the food. However . . . . . The service was extremely slow!! We waited about an hour for our food and it wasn't exactly busy. The table next to us had their drinks for free due to the wait but not us. One table got so fed up that they walked out just as their food was about to arrive - there were told on several occasion it would only be another 5 minutes . . . . Would not visit again.

Just popped in for a quick early bite to eat. Wow what a well presented fabulous breakfast . Great in taste and very pleasing on the eye. Staff and cheff (boss I think) had time to spend with you . This went a long way for me to the good of peggottys. Well done thanks

Nothing pretentious about Peggottys - a large mug of tea for a pound in a warm cafe on a freezing day. Perfect! Others were having breakfast which looked generous and well cooked (and inexpensive). Nice place, nice people.

This cafe was never one that we really fancied choosing from the large selection in Cromer. However we have now visited it, and won't be back in a hurry. Coffee was tasteless, and the service was poor. We weren't eating, but could hear several people ordering to be told that items weren't available - if that was the case, maybe it should have been on a sign in the cafe, so that people could have chosen to go elsewhere rather than sit there for a while waiting to order. On the plus side prices were reasonable.

After a 2 hour bus journey and a sunny but freezing walk along the sea front found this nice,basic café.Very pleasant young waitress and the cooked breakfast arrived very quickly with a huge mug of tea.Beautifully cooked and non greasy with 2 slices of toast and butter included.Went down a treat and I shall eat here on my next visit.Nice clean tables also!
