Staying in Aby village for a week's holiday and had to try the local pub. Exterior looks a bit "tired" but don't be put off - inside it's friendly. cosy and lots of character. Excellent choices of dishes on the menu and "daily specials" board - we especially appreciated the choice of gluten-free options and Dawn was happy to go through each option in detail. Good portions and served hot! Very tasty and wholesome. Wide range of dessert options too and it was evident from conversations with other diners, that Dawn would also be happy to adapt these just to suit individual requirements. Obviously very deserving of the many awards over many years.

A great little pub. Fabulous food, big portions, and as a bonus for us they're very on the ball with allergens. The owners were wonderfully friendly too. We were defeated by the big portions but still got to have pudding as they do takeaway boxes if needed!

Our second visit to this area and it was every bit as brilliant as the first. My better half and I stayed in Westerby Lodge again (owned by Keith & Dawn who own and run the Railway Tavern) and we ate at this wonderful pub/restaurant every day that it was open. The menu is extensive, very reasonably priced and the generously-portioned food is delicious. This is genuine, down to earth pub grub - not the pretentious offerings that many establishments seem to think we want nowadays. Dawn's ability to manage what must often be a hectic kitchen and still appear totally unflustered is a feat to be admired. Keith runs the bar and has a smile and a joke for everyone - he will wind you up if you let him! His job must also be very demanding, but he takes time out to make you feel most welcome. A mention too for Hannah who helped out on a couple of nights that we were there and was really helpful and attentive. The fact that so many locals frequent the pub is testament to the quality and range of the food and beers on offer, plus the outstanding service delivered by Keith and Dawn. It's little wonder that the Railway Tavern is a well-deserved award winner.

Stopped here slightly at random as we wanted to stop somewhere between Louth and Alford. We only stopped for a drink so can only comment on that. The landlord was friendly, and offered advice about the cider the missus wanted. Turns out it was good advice. We ended up having Bulmers Fruit Cider and Pint of Guiness. The price was very reasonable, and we may next time stop for food..

I am the proverbial grumpy (hard to please) old man. I mention this so you know who is writing. I booked to take my lovely wife and our two dogs out for lunch at the Railway Tavern. We were greeted as we entered with a smile and complete trust; I had a feeling it was going to be rather special. We were seated by the window and waited maybe twenty minutes only for our home cooked food while we sipped sone rather nice ale. My wife had the pork with brie and cranberries, while I ordered the fish and chips with the customary mushy peas. Wow once, twice and wow thrice! Superb quality food; piping hot, clean cutlery and plates, we polished off the lot leaving nothing. I found the Landlord to be a most enjoyable fellow who treated us as if we were the first customers to grace his tavern. We had a very enjoyable experience and the Railway Tavern can be assured that we will return on a fairly regular basis. It would have been Sunday for the roast lunch but alas they are once again fully booked. Kind of speaks volumes to be honest.

First visit for a quiet afternoon pint we were told to move our car in the empty car park. Second lunchtime visit, no food due to staff injury (must have fallen down the dangerous step on entry) When asked if he would recommend another establishment, not a chance. Within five minutes we found an excellent pub in Alford serving good food with a warm welcome. No wonder the Railway Tavern is for sale.

Husband and I stayed in Westerby Lodge owned by Keith and Dawn. We had to cancel our summer holidays due to illness and were looking forward to a break. Lovely and warm, well equipped wet room a bonus as we both have mobility problems. Ate at the Railway Tavern one evening ham egg and chips, best ham we’ve tasted. The only quibble was the TV placed too high on the wall, when sitting in the chair at the side I had stiff neck looking round and up. Thank you to you both.

My husband and I spent last week at Westerby Lodge, one of the two holiday cottages owned by Dawn and Keith who run the Railway Tavern. I only wish I could give this 'dynamic duo' six stars as that would be nothing short of what they deserve. During the week we sampled many dishes on the excellent, reasonably priced menu and none of them disappointed. From the first minute we were warmly welcomed, and nothing was too much trouble. Dawn rules the kitchen, Keith rules the bar and, on some nights, they are ably assisted by Poppy who works her socks off and never stops smiling. It takes especially talented people to make it all look so easy when you know that behind the scenes the planning, preparation and energy required to deliver such high-quality food and service, night after night, must leave them exhausted. If you are in the area, be sure to book a table. Enjoy a joke with Keith at the well-stocked bar, then sit back and enjoy Dawn's home cooking in this lovely country pub - you will be so glad you did!

Sunday evening ride out from Saltfleet for a meal booked here in advance, upon arrival we were greeted by the landlord and landlady themselves. We had some very comical banter with the landlord as he was serving the beer and then we were shown where the menu boards were located - very easy on the eye and plenty of choice to be had. The food and service was excellent, very accommodating and we were checked upon in intervals to make sure we had everything we needed - very nice touch and the banter continued. My partner and I had Sunday lunch, we found the pub was clean and the beef that came with the lunch was excellent but we didnt touch the over ripe brown broccoli and the roast potatoes were hard. The thing that was really annoying was when the landlord asked me to leave the table to move my car into his rear car park which had been sensibly parked at the side of the wide drive next to a path between the two car parks, l found this rather annoying as my partner had health problems and without cause.

Recommended whilst away on a break. Called on a Saturday lunchtime. We were the only ones in the place, so service was spot on. Ordered drinks and lunch from a really extensive menu, in a really welcoming pub.Nice, no... better than nice. It soon started to fill with a mix of ages and types. All made welcome. The real ale was served to perfection, and then the food was served. I really enjoyed my meal and so did my wife. thought the salad lacked a little dressing, (being slightly picky but had a valid point). Didn't want to moan 'cos it wasn't worth moaning about. Besides they were getting fairly busy and could understand why.Puddings were great by the way. Recommend crumble along with the Ginger pud. Not on the same plate mind.Really enjoyable lunchtime. Well worth a visit.

We stopped there and parked with a group of walkers and then returned for lunch. They coped very well with the large group and the food was very nice. Landlord and land Lao were very welcoming and we had a nice walk and lunch.

I may be a little biased as this is my local pub but in all honesty this is the loveliest pub in the world. Dawn and Keith, the landlords are so welcoming and friendly and have always made us feel like we're one of the regulars. They remember our favourite drinks and food orders and are always there will a happy smile and a friendly face. The food is classic good old fashioned British pub food. It's delicious, plentiful and well priced. Dawn, the chef and landlady has created a menu with all the classics but if you're a fussy eater or fancy something not on the extensive menu will make you anything you desire - ask for the mushy pea pie for instance and you're in for a treat! Keith, the landlord serves everything you'd want for drinks but will also rustle up a special cocktail and has well earned the name of 'Cocktail Keith' In all seriousness they serve a brilliant collection of beers and local spirits! In the winter there's always a roaring fire and in the summer there's a garden where you can eat outside. They are soon to open a couple of cottages offering much needed accommodation which will be brilliant for the local community. I genuinely couldn't recommend this pub more.

This was a lovely find. We had a recommendation from a friend to try their, steak and kidney pie so we set our GPS and off we went. We were a bit worried as it looked like it was frequented by locals and some pubs can be unfriendly but this was not the case here. The landlord was very welcoming and friendly as were all the staff. We had an excellent meal. Starter - Garlic mushrooms in a beautiful creamy sauce on a nice slice of toasted brown bread with side salad for starter. Main courses were Steak and kidney pie with new potatoes and a good selection of vegetables, the pie was full of tasty tender meat and home made and my husband had Chilli which he said was very good. We both had deserts, I had Lumpy Bumpy Tiramuisu with cream and husband, homemade apple crumble with custard, both yummy. All served promptly and with friendly smile. The pub had a nice real coal fire and the locals chatted to us and said a friendly goodbye when we left. We will be adding this lovely place to our list of places to revisit. They also had a huge choice of spirits on their shelves.

Long overdue putting this review together. The best Belly Pork ever served here at the lovely Railway Tavern at Aby near Alford and the most loveliest of staff. Reasonable prices too. A great 'hideaway' full of character and just simply the best food. Thank you so much. Such a great welcome.

We booked a table for 8 people to celebrate my nephew and my mum's birthdays. Mum is 89 and has poor mobility but nothing was too much trouble for our lovely, welcoming hosts. They were very accommodating to mum's needs and gave every assistance to us during our visit (over and above the help and attention I feel we would have got anywhere else). The food was lovely and my brother's family were very well catered for with their vegetarian requirements. Nothing was too much trouble. We have been before and will go again (as our families meet up there from our respective geographic locations). They made what could have been a difficult and awkward situation with mum into a memorable and lovely day out - thank you so much.

We went to the village of Aby and parked the car at the pub to see about booking a meal on our return from a walk.Landlord (Keith) was very informative, arranging a time slot for our table booking that suited us both after giving us advice on our walking route.Lovely atmosphere, good beer and food.Chef came out and spoke to us about the menu with my wife being dairy intolerant and adapted the dish she wanted to omit the brie.

Have been to The Railway Tavern a few times, eaten there occasionally but tonight's meal deserves special mention.King prawn paella: generous portion, beautifully cooked and presented. Colourful with peppers, chorizo, mussels, large and small prawns, saffron rice, a side salad with Apple as well as well as the usual ingredients. Excellent. The couple that own the pub are always very pleasant, obliging, up-beat and with a sense of humour. The beer often changes and is well-kept. I had a very good Thwaites IPA. My wife's Pinot Grigio was good too.The pub is not the easiest to find in Aby, Lincs., (between Alford and Louth) which must be one of the shortest village names in Britain and on the walls are many items of railway memorabilia, some from the old Aby station, a former tiny halt on the old line between Grimsby, Louth and London Kings Cross which closed around the 1970s.So, good extensive varied menu, good beer, interesting location in the heart of countryside. What's not to like! One of my most positive reviews.Well done to the owners.

We keep coming back to this family run pub as the welcome and food are fantastic. If you want something off the menu, Dawn will do her best to accommodate your wishes. Any allergies are taken very seriously and as most of the food is made on the premises, she knows exactly what is in everything. Keith runs the bar with massive bonhomie, including regular silly events to raise money for charity. We have had several special occasions here and been very well looked after. A little gem of a place that is well worth the trip to find it!

Came across this little gem on the way back from Skegness, had a long day out and very hungry so stopped off on a whim. Couldn't falt it.Met by a very happy male (didn't catch his name), sat us down and made us feel welcome. Was even able to have my dog (cocker spaniel) in with us.Food was cooked perfectly (had pie and chips) and waffle to finish.Would definitely recommend.

First of all, I have to say that the food was lovely and everyone was very friendly. We were made very welcome. However I'm not too keen on eating at a table with a stand of bag-tags on it, for sale for charity, and I did feel a bit sorry for a couple who were dining next to the menu board, as they had to put up with loads of people continually standing next to them to read the board. I would certainly have preferred to have a menu at my table to read in comfort without feeling I was inconveniencing other diners. Also I felt the waitress could have looked a bit smarter. No effort to dress up for work. The food was great, as I said, but it's all a bit strange!

I ordered a Sunday roast delivery from here and it went in the bin as soon as it arrived! Everything was burnt to a crisp and absolutely disgusting, I would not recommend eating here at all! I've heard from a few people how awful the food has been there for a while now but thought we'd give it a go for ourselves. Avoid at all costs and don't waste your money here!

Unfortunately, the Dunes Complex is definitely not wheelchair friendly. There are disabled parking spaces in the car park. However, they were all taken, and some didn't have Blue Badges visible. Once in the Dunes Complex, there are 2 more ramps to consider, the 1st one is quite steep, and the 2nd one is less of a hassle. If a wheelchair user or someone who has mobility difficulties wanted to get to the stage, they would have to ask staff for a further ramp. To get onto the stage itself, well, there are narrow corridors that a wheelchair does not fit through, and there are no handles or any form of mobility aid.
