Dropped in as in that area and wanted a coffee on the way home, had never been in before but heard from a friend that worth a visit.Sunday lunchtime midday is not a good time to drop in if no reservation I would say.We were lucky to be first at the counter and got a table for 2, we were having coffee and cake only.Within minutes so many people were coming in and queing for Sunday roast. The queue went back as far as the door. The queue did not start moving for 15 minutes. The plates of food that people were walking away with looked delicious. Real home cooked food.So.. we waited for a while for coffee and cake but it tasted beautiful. We were astounded at hour popular the Sunday roasts were.Would definately give this place a try again but during the week Id say and would try a meal and see how it goes when not as busy.

After hearing good things about the food here decided to visit and was not impressed.we had booked a table but it appeared somebody else had taken it so we were shown to a table with no cutlery which appeared while we were getting our food in a pile on the table.three of my fellow diners had the meat pie which they said was lovely although the portions were a bit small and I had the cottage pie which was just okay and contained a large piece of unmashed potato.it seemed like a place run by volunteers rather than a professional cafe and they did not seem to have enough staff.the lady who did seem run off her feet apologised three times about the service and said it was because they were busy.perhaps we just picked a bad day.

What a great place! We visited twice during our week's stay in the Wolds. Firstly just for coffee and cake in the pouring rain. Friendly service, a good slice of coffee and walnut cake and a bucket of cappuccino. Gave us a ray of sunshine on an otherwise grey and dismally wet day. The second time was on the way back home at lunchtime. The place was heaving - parking is ample - but the spaces nearest the cafe were filled up and a many point turn was needed to go to the parking just down from the cafe. There is plenty of room though. We had sandwiches and quiche. The quiche was hot and served with potatoes and a range of salad. Service was good despite the fact they were dealing with many customers all at once who didn't seem to understand a queue and just kept calling out what they wanted. The waitresses kept their calm and were really apologetic about the wait which really wasn't that long and they were rammed. Go if you like good food - hot or cold (hot only served til 2 pm I think). The afternoon tea looked both generous and tasty too - they like 24-48 hours notice for that - so plan ahead. And if you like parrots then definitely go.

Three adults including a vegan visited for Sunday lunch. The meat-eaters had a choice of beef or pork, chicken pie or beef pie with a range of vegetables and 2 potatoes. The vegan got a quorn 'mince' shepherd's pie with veggie gravy and vegetables - it was delicious. There was a huge range of puddings - only the apple pie was vegan- but there were scones and flapjacks too. As it was Sunday the lunch including tea, coffee or squash was £11, Tuesday to Saturday its £1 cheaper. Definitely value for money and delicious. The staff couldn't have been more attentive. Went with for a visit with my social group for afternoon tea on a Friday afternoon. We booked in advance and were seated in the conservatory. The tables were nicely set and we had huge cream and jam scones, individual triffles (Jelly was a bit rubbery) and strawberry cupcakes. There was plenty of tea and coffee although the coffee tasted instant. Overall it was a nice place to call in for an hour and the plant area and greenhouse certainly worth a visit as they have some unusual plants to purchase. Looking forward to another visit. A lovely local village restaurant that serves traditional home cooked food and home made desserts., All the guests here at our cottages opposite love it, as do we, particularly the steak pie, quiche, scones, desserts and ice cream. We recommend it to everyone and have only heard positive comments. One couple went back to try it 3 times in a week. Be prepared to queue for a short time as it is very popular and the prices are so reasonable, so if you book a table for lunch eat nearer 12pm than 2pm, as it is cooked on the day and when it's gone it's gone. They close at 4. Fast efficient service. Cafe style main area with an additional conservatory and outside eating area overlooking gardens. Plant centre is well stocked and looked after.

Visited with the family (3 generations) one lunchtime having been told it's the best steak pie you'll ever taste. The reality was completely different. Cold steak pie with overly thick pastry, overcooked veg and small portions. The squash included in the lunch deal was undrinkable - totally synthetic. The puddings were equally poor. 2 orders were wrong for pudding. I had to be asked if I wanted my crumble served warm! How else would I want it?! No children's menu or even a half portion option so had to buy a full adult meal for a 4 year old! No baby change either. Came away having been unable to eat the pud and still hungry. Stodgy and nothing like I expected. To top it off it cost £35 for 3 adults and a young child (baby didn't eat). Don't bother!

We travel up north to visit my father near Grimsby. He no longer is able to drive. We come from Winchester, he always asks if we can take to Norburn's for his lunch. We've been doing this for him several years every time we come north. We are always delighted with the quality of wholesome natural, traditional home cooking Norbury's offers. The staff are delightful and friendly. Its a cooking style which we all remember our Grandmothers used to cook. There is always a choice of dishes to choose from and some times its difficult making your mind up. We have sampled everything Norburn's and can say with all honesty, Its simply the best. If you want fast chemically processed food, don't come here. Norburn's is relaxed, hospitable and friendly. It also has a gardening nursery to wonder around it too afterwards. This is a somewhat hidden gem of an eating place but, once you've found it, I'm sure you'll want to visit again. It's one of my favourite places for coffee-ing or lunching but I wouldn't call it a restaurant as it closes at 5pm and all day Monday. The site also hosts a small but well stocked garden centre - no gifts or gimmicks - and a beautifully set out garden with cages of birds, around which visitors are encouraged to walk. Adults and children alike will be spoilt for choice with the ice-creams, and the home-made cakes and pies are simply to die for. It isn't a vast menu, no pizzas, burgers and chips ( but is that a bad thing?)! Portions are more than ample and there's a good choice, from sandwiches to Sunday lunch - although it's best to book for the latter. You will need a car to get there but the trip will be worth it.

After booking for 4 people for Sunday lunch, we arrived prompt at 1.30. We were approached by a member of staff who asked if we had booked, Then a gentleman approached us to say he was very sorry but they had ran out of food. We were even further shocked when he said what have we got left in the back - maybe a (pork chop). We could not believe what we heard and looked at each other in disgust at the quality of customer service. In our opinion running a restaurant does not mean running out of food and also having a system to ensure your bookings are kept in order, overall really bad service and customer care was zero out of ten, we ended up making a call from our car from the car park to another local restaurant who fell over backwards to get us a table, we had far superior food with better surroundings, this cost us more but we believe that you pay for what you get.
