Our first visit to Woodhall Spa and we came across the Melrose Cafe. A warm welcome from the gentleman who sat me beside a radiator as it was cold outside. Originally we only wanted a mid morning hot drink but after perusing the cakes we couldn't resist. Hubby had his first gf cake which he thoroughly enjoyed. We had a decent pot of tea for two. Looking at the full menu it would seem very reasonably priced.

I reviewed the Melrose 8 years ago and was full of praise then for our lovely local restaurant and I really wanted to review it again and let everyone know that it is still a great place to eat in Woodhall Spa. We are so lucky to have the Melrose right on our doorstep. Trevor and his staff could not be more welcoming and friendly and the menu is varied and absolutely delicious and the food is always piping hot and beautifully served. Cannot praise the whole team enough…..love it !

Called in for breakfast. Dog friendly and staff brought a bowl of water and a dog treat. Our order was taken promptly, although we were offered more time. My husband had the full English breakfast and I had scrambled eggs with bacon and beans. The meal was served hot and we were cautioned about the hot plates. Good portions and everything was cooked and presented well. The coffee was good and offered free with the breakfast menu..an added bonus. This was our first visit, but wont be our last as the homemade cakes looked very tempting.

We stumbled across this cafe while out on a treasure hunt around Woodhall Spa. What a great little place! The menu was wide and varied, nothing was too much trouble and the staff were absolutely lovely. My son ordered a milkshake and a scone, and was asked what flavour jam he would like. Someone else asked for a steamed pudding and was given four options. We mentioned to the staff that we were on holiday an hour away and it turned out that one of them drives that distance to work every day. If I worked in such a friendly and lovely cafe, I would too. My only regret is that we don’t live anywhere near so can’t become regulars. If we did we would be there all the time.

This Cafe is tucked away behind The Broadway in Woodhall Spa and was a great place to eat after a long walk with friends. The weather was good and we all sat outside to be greeted by helpful friendly staff who brought out water and biscuit treats for the dogs. The menu was not expansive but good value and the food was excellent. I can thoroughly recommend the Bacon Brie and Cranberry baguette😋. Service was quick and staff were very friendly and helpful. Went back several times during my holiday. Well worth a visit.

Lovely welcome and clean, friendly, quiet setting. The food is generously portioned while the flavours and textures are spot on. We have been here twice now since moving into the area and this is our favourite. The food is home cooked style - we had cottage pie this time and the flavour was divine. Breakfasts are served until 11:30 - we will try them next time. Lots of choice and they cater well for gluten-free. In fact I would check me here just for cake!! They are all home made and there is lots of choice. Around 10 choices (including pudding style) with 3 choices for gluten-free. Victoria, Coffee and Walnut and the best Mint Aero Cupcakes I have ever encountered. You really need to visit. The owners and staff are super friendly. Visited this establishment yesterday while at the 1940's weekend but was very disappointed. While I realise that they were very busy as there are a large number of people visiting, I believe that it is at times like this when you can raise the profile of your food and service. Whether it was for this reason or whether this is their standard I do not know but the food was bland and tasteless. We had the roast turkey with carrots, peas and mashed potato which appeared to have no seasoning at all. We only put seasoning in our food not on it so it rather spoilt it for us. The service by the young ladies was very good but as we went there to eat we are judging the place on it's food.

Deep in the bucolic heart of Lincolnshire is the village of Woodhall Spa; a village carried from the Garden of Eden by angels with hearts bursting with love and beauteous purpose. At the very centre of this blessed community is the Melrose café. Don't be fooled by the simple design of the Melrose's interior because once you enter you are the focus of calm attention and the desire to serve you wonderful food. The menu, like the interior, is plain and unfussy, like food from the 1960's but with added flavour. Vegetarians are well catered for. The beatific staff are only too keen to satisfy your culinary desires. The omelettes [ probably the best in Lincolnshire] are almost certainly the work of witchcraft. Hugh Grant is a regular, chartering a plane to Humberside airport and taxi to Woodhall. The table for him and his entourage is permanently reserved. Every Groundhog Day is better for being in the Melrose. All the finest Beatles songs were composed in the Melrose. Chet Baker arranged his version of My Funny Valentine at one of the tables for two by the window. Leonard Cohen was aware. Bob Dylan is on his way. The world would be a better place for adopting a Melrose state of mind. God bless the Melrose and all who dine in her.Peter and Alison

This is one of my regular cafes when I visit Woodhall Spa. Usually I have tea with a scone or cake, which are always of good quality. I'm only ever slightly disappointed when the owner hasn't had time to bake the scones, but cake is always available. Also as a vegetarian I have also had one of their vegetarian breakfasts, which was also enjoyable. I have quite a small appetite so it was good to get the choice of a small breakfast as well as a regular sized one. The service is always friendly and I find that the prices are exceptionally good value for people wanting to eat out on a limited budget. The first time I visited I thought I'd been undercharged as I was mentally calculating on the average I usually pay for tea and cake for two people!

My husband (coeliac) and I were searching for a cafe in Woodhall Spa to have a gluten free cooked breakfast (without success) until we came across this gem of a cafe. The staff were very helpful and understood the need to avoid cross contamination between glutenised and non-gluten food explaining they had a number of coeliac customers and cooked food for GF customers separately. There were some restrictions on the menu (no GF sausages but fair enough not a big call for these I expect). They added extra bacon instead. Tasty GF breakfast at a reasonable price served by friendly and knowledgable staff- thank you! Ps my breakfast which was not GF was also excellent!!

I find it hard to believe how anyone could rate this place as just average. It is of a standard well above most, if not all, the other cafes in Woodhall. I had the gammon, which was delicious with homemade onion rings, and my friend had the roast lamb, also excellent & served with lots of fresh veg. Couldn't resist the lovely looking homemade puddings so we had bread & butter pudding & treacle sponge, both with custard & they tasted as good as they looked. The bill was just over £20 for 2 courses each plus 2 soft drinks & a pot of tea which is amazing, especially for Woodhall Spa.I eat out regularly & this family run place has great service, is spotlessly clean & provides great food at very reasonable prices - what's not to love? We seem to have started driving from Boston more weekends than not to see a film at the Kinema in the Woods. We tend to go to the earlier showings and we've had a snack beforehand in several establishments in Woodhall Spa. Last week we were looking up and down the high street for a change and spotted the sign for the Melrose and decided to give it a look. The quaint little arcade with shops felt rather dated and we imagined the cafe might not be what we were looking for but how wrong can you be ? The first thing we noticed was how clean and tidy the cafe was and the lady who served us was so welcoming and friendly. We only had tea for two and a bacon sandwich and a toastie but the sandwich was wonderful with lots of beautiful lean bacon and the toastie was declared equally as good. We were even offered more hot water for our teapot which we didn't need. Service was prompt and efficient and the prices were very reasonable. We know where we will go next time we're in Woodhall for the cinema and we shall try something more substantial!

Unfortunately, the Dunes Complex is definitely not wheelchair friendly. There are disabled parking spaces in the car park. However, they were all taken, and some didn't have Blue Badges visible. Once in the Dunes Complex, there are 2 more ramps to consider, the 1st one is quite steep, and the 2nd one is less of a hassle. If a wheelchair user or someone who has mobility difficulties wanted to get to the stage, they would have to ask staff for a further ramp. To get onto the stage itself, well, there are narrow corridors that a wheelchair does not fit through, and there are no handles or any form of mobility aid.

Staying in Aby village for a week's holiday and had to try the local pub. Exterior looks a bit "tired" but don't be put off - inside it's friendly. cosy and lots of character. Excellent choices of dishes on the menu and "daily specials" board - we especially appreciated the choice of gluten-free options and Dawn was happy to go through each option in detail. Good portions and served hot! Very tasty and wholesome. Wide range of dessert options too and it was evident from conversations with other diners, that Dawn would also be happy to adapt these just to suit individual requirements. Obviously very deserving of the many awards over many years.

I ordered a Sunday roast delivery from here and it went in the bin as soon as it arrived! Everything was burnt to a crisp and absolutely disgusting, I would not recommend eating here at all! I've heard from a few people how awful the food has been there for a while now but thought we'd give it a go for ourselves. Avoid at all costs and don't waste your money here!
