Went recently as a party of 5, including 2 grandchildren because this place is open all day and is dog friendly. It was a dssa[ointment to say the least. Thre of us had a Cheeseburger. The Burger was small, dry and was obviously not home made, or even made by a local butcher, and was topped with a cold, orange slice of catering pack cheese. The chiops were very good, but as usual there was enough on each plate to feed 3 people, with the assumption that if the plate is loaded, then you have had a "good meal". Not true. It is just a waste of food! The giant Onion Rings were saturated with grease, and the only good thing about the meal, apart from the chips was the Coleslaw. The most annoying aspect of the meal, however, was the gentleman who was either staff or family, sat at the end of the bar, adjacent to our table, and spent the whole meal time listening in to our family conversation and butting in with comments of his own! Drinks - only one bitter on tap and that was keggy John Smiths. Poor choice. Will not be returning! Will not be returning.

We booked at last minute on a Saturday night and they got us in within an hour. The place has had a nice refurbishment. Fast service at the bar. Showed to our table. The beer was good. The food was good. In particular a few items were great. The chicken starter was fantastic. 2 of us had pie of the day, it was equally delicious. The chips are proper home made. Desserts where also a good size portion and delicious. All in all- great value for good pub food. Would recommend to all locally and passing.

Can’t go wrong with the food. Pie n chips (proper home made chips) all home made food. Puddings are great too. Fish fry day is one not to miss if you can get there. Not tried the Sunday lunch yet but menu sounds great and it’s phenomenal value. Highly recommend. Best to phone and check they can accommodate you for food if you are thinking of going as food service finishes quite early.

Myself & my partner called here for a Sunday dinner last weekend.. It was totally by chance when looking for a place to eat while passing by this area.. On arrival we were greeted in a friendly manner by the owners daughter, then the owner. After ordering food we were soon presented with our meals... We both ordered a roast beef dinner, though there were options of lamb & pork. The beef was of a high quality, lean & tasty.. The accompanying vegetables were fresh & cooked perfectly.. Also a boat of 'proper gravy'. My partner couldn't find room for a pudding, though she did 'help me out' in eating a very tasty home made orange sponge with custard that had been recommended to me by the waitress... All in all the friendly pub staff & hearty home cooked food will find us eating with the Anchor again... So pleased we didn't pass by

We called here after the Poppy Run for a pint and found everyone very welcoming and nice. The pub was very clean and had a nice feel to it. It also had Remembrance Day coverage and promotions on. Definately worth a visit

Found this place by accident thought it would be rude not to stop. The pub has recently been refurbished. It has a nice garden, the food is very nice and the beer is well kept what more could you ask for?

We stayed here overnight while traveling around. This is not a top of the range pub. It has the "lived" in look about it. But it also has a friendly atmosphere , with kids toys around, a large outdoor covered seated area(settees). You should look at this as an extension of the owners living area. The food is very tasty, typical range found in most pubs. The ale was tasty and reasonably priced all round. Would we visit and eat here again? Yes, if we are passing again.

We stopped here when travelling back home from a break away. We were served promptly, food was great. Ours boys wanted "Iron Man' soup :-) (red pepper and tomato) which they really enjoyed. Staff friendly. Thanks, we'll be back when back in the area again! Definitely recommend. 👍🏻

Went to Woodhall for the day and decided to try the Melrose. I wasn't sure if I was meant to wait for my order when I went in or if they were going to bring it to us as after serving me the server went to someone else without a word to me. The waitress came out and she didn't seem to know what she was doing as she'd got the table numbers mixed up, my partner spoke to her and she completely ignored him even though she knew he was speaking to her. She then tried to be all friendly after I went in and they saw I wasn't very happy with being ignored but it was too late by then. So with that and a pot of tea, a latte and an ice cream for the dog coming to the very expensive total of £9 we will be giving this place a miss next time.

This place is brilliant right on the seafront Excellent atmosphere nice food you must go for bingo & games night every Friday & Sunday but the best thing about the place is it like your local pub and everybody treats you like a local & not a tourist paddy Debbie & bar staff will look after you would recommend for anybody on holiday in Mablethorpe
