Visited today for a beautiful lunch and coffee, and was having a great few hours at the cafe until the end. My friend was in need of changing her little girl, and did so in a hidden corner due to lack of baby changing facilities. This was away from the other only customer sat away from us, to then have the lady owner appear soon after saying “can I have a word”, then being rude to her saying how we should’ve asked or could’ve done it on the toilet floor etc. We understood the owners concerns, but the manner in which she was spoken to was disgraceful, with the lady then disappearing to the kitchen. We soon decided to pay and leave, however the gentlemen who served us was so lovely. Upon coming home, I’ve seen a few other reviews on how this place isn’t child friendly, so despite the wonderful food, we shall not be returning.

We were going to Louth and I googled “best toastie Louth” . A TA report resulted in The Green Cottage selling the best toastie . I resolved to try the fabled toasties so we went to the cafe at 11.00 a.m. and sat down but could not see toasties on the menu. A lady arrived and asked if we wanted drinks so we asked about toasties. “We don’t serve toasties till lunchtime at 12.00” I was astounded at this so we left . A very disappointed couple. We went to Beverley’s and they served toasties without demur and we enjoyed them. It seems a shame that in these difficult times, a cafe turns couples away like this?

We were looking for good vegetarian food in Louth so asked at the Wholefood Co-op who suggested The Green Cottage. We had a fantastic lunch of home-baked quiche with salad & local new potatoes, then couldn't resist a slice of victoria sponge with our tea. Luckily we shared as it was a good size portion. Even so we couldn't resist taking a delicious lemon & blueberry scone home for tea. Thanks for the recommendation!

We were guided here by a lady called April as we asked her for a vegetarian cafe recommendation. We were not disappointed, friendly staff & a good range of vegan & vegetarian food on offer, all home cooked on the premises. Deliciously tasty & a good portion at reasonable prices. We shall certainly visit again when we are in the area.

Stopped by for lunch, what a treat. Homemade quiche that just melts in your mouth and tasty homemade coleslaw. Service was excellent and there was a nice choice of dishes on the menu. Would definitely visit again if we are back in Louth.

Visiting Louth, returned from 4 years ago and rembered where the great tearoom was. Menu is veggie and vegan choices, I am not either dietary taste however managed to find something on the varied menu. The homemade soup was wonderful including the loaded egg mayo sandwich. Still the same owners who are lovely to chat to. A quite superb lunch and hope to return again yet sooner than 4 years!

We both had cheese toastie albeit different varieties and they were delicious with lots of accompaniments I including real crisps. The scones that we had to take away were also lovely and delicious. Will certainly visit again when in area.More than average prices but well worth it for this quality.Do give this little gem a visit.

Visited recently and the food was lovely as usual although the portion size seemed to have diminished somewhat. The owners usually very smiley and happy however weren’t very welcoming…

Small and very friendly place tucked away in Louth on Vickers Lane. Coffee was excellent, non-dairy mixers available. Very impressed that the vegan range of cakes was as large and good-looking as the non-vegan. Will come again when we visit Louth

A lovely tea rooms with lots of choice for vegans and vegetarians. I had a a vegan BLT and it was delicious. It came with potato salad, slaw and crisps. Never expected that much on my plate. Although there are many place s to have a cup of tea in Louth ai think this place serves the best. The owners are so helpful and attentive. I would definitely recommend. Especially now the upstairs has been opened too.

This amazing friendly restaurant is not open every single Sunday so we were lucky to visit Louth on one of their Sunday lunch days. It's so hard when travelling to find healthy and carbon neutral (& tasty) food, most places seem churn out the standard unhealthy & unimaginative dishes but here we were treated to a 100% Vegan Sunday roast. The chicken friendly pie with lots Roast potatoes and local veg and lovely gravy was just the best ever!. Friendly helpful staff made a special gluten free desert for one of our party. Very professional, very healthy, very filling, highly recommend.

When we arrived half an hour before it was due to close they had sold out of all the vegan cakes and scones! Certainly good for business so we contented ourselves with an espresso and a soya hot chocolate which was richly flavoured and satisfying. Chatted to the sociable and pleasant owners and got some details on the monthly 3 course vegan meals which feature on the first Sunday of the month.

A truly hidden gem in the small market town of Louth in Lincolnshire, come here to find peace and relaxation in a busy world as well as outstanding home cooked food using the freshest of ingredients. The owner, Marie, will give you a warm welcome and is happy to chat. Here at the Green Cottage Tea Room Marie will accommodate your requests even if what you wish to eat doesn't appear on the menu. This is actually much more than a tea room, offering bistro style lunches and specializing in home cooked vegan and vegetarian meals (the only place in Louth that does this), and offering a wide range of speciality teas as well as different coffees and other hot drinks. One can even buy gift vouchers for the very affordable Afternoon Tea. There are beautiful wooden tables to sit at, or if one prefers a lounge area with a library and comfortable settees. Very clean, lovely owners who cannot do enough to accommodate you, if you are seeking something different with outstanding food and service this is a must!

Very tasty food, including the soon sold out vegan pizza, nommy Moroccan chickpea and couscous with coconut yogurt. Early on they had full vegan breakfast. And amazing vegan cakes, flapjack, and vegan scones. Super tasty and worth every penny. Well done to the lovely people who run a gorgeous hidden gem in Louth. Well worth a visit.

The best vegan chocolate cake ever tasted, you must try it! The lady serving couldn’t do enough for us, she was very attentive. We shared the vegan platter of pates, flatbread, salad and falafel with a pot of Earl Gray, very nice. It’s rare to find a vegetarian cafe, its a treasure.

We wer recommended by a local to try this cafe at around 2pm. The door said Open, so we went in. On entering we saw three people at a table eating a a man behind the counter working on the food in some way. A woman approached us from the back of the room and we said we would like to eat. She said 'We're closed". We said, seeing the food on the counter, " can we just have a sandwich to take away". "No, we're closed. We haven't got the staff". What the chap at the counter was then, who can say. What happened to the food we could see, also who can say. For me, it's just attitude. May be something had happened. But if so, why were the three people sitting there still eating? Very irritating. We ate in the Millers daughter pub over the road over the road. Very friendly staff...

We like this cozy tea room as the staff are friendly and the homemade food is wonderful, especially the soup and quiche. We tend to use the sofa area as there are a few interesting magazines and books to browse through. This little tea room is different from your everyday cafe as its peaceful and you are not rushed. Will be visiting again soon!

Vegan and vegetarian cafe; limited menu. Coffee ok but served in a tiny cup, food reasonable. Lacking in atmosphere, surroundings a bit bleak, but worst of all it was freezing! Shan't rush back.

This is a great hidden cafe/restaurant in the heart of Louth (found in the alley leading to the post office near heron foods). Friendly staff who are always happy to help try to accomodate, particularly if you have special dietry needs. Specialising in vegetarian and vegan food, drinks, and cakes as well as a good old toasted tea cake or jam and scone. Quiet and peaceful. A great place to sit and read and watch the world go by or chat to family and friends over a delicious bowl of soup or a tasty wrap. Their cakes are amazing too. Don't miss out.

Having visited this little gem of a tea room previously, I contacted them to book for a get together with friends for a birthday lunch. I had the jacket potato with Mediterranean vegetables, followed by Bakewell tart, I was not disappointed! Food and service was perfect! The staff couldn't do enough to make my day special. If you're wanting a little treat, I highly recommend this place. I've been numerous times and never been disappointed, the ladies I was with all said the same.

My 3 year old niece accidentally spilt a bit of her hot chocolate, so was asked to leave and told not to come back. I do not know many children who have not spilt drinks at some time or other, so if you have children AVOID!!! The man spoke in a very rude manner and slammed the door - not the sort of behaviour or person I want my children exposed to!

My husband took our 3year old and 11 month old there for a hot chocolate and was kicked out because they spilled a bit of hot chocolate on the table cloth. He was treated appallingly, shouted at and told to leave with them slamming the door behind him. He was told repeatedly that it is not a crèche which obviously it’s not, it’s a cafe where families like to go with children and children sometimes spill drinks. I always liked this cafe and thought the owners were lovely so I have no idea why this happened. I won’t be going back or recommending it again to family or friends.

First visit to the cafe. It’s a bit shabby but not in a shabby chic way but I don’t feel they have been open long so I expect that will change in time. It’s clean and fresh so don’t be put off looking in the window because the food was lovely. We had quiche salads off the specials board and they were beautifully presented. The quiche was freshly made and we had it with new potatoes and salad. We were still talking about it an hour later it was so yummy. Service was attentive and friendly. Suggestions to improve it would be music to give it some atmosphere as it’s very quiet if just a few people are in (though I appreciate PRS licence is an extra expense when you’re just starting out). Also make the window more inviting - we nearly didn’t go in and that would have been such a shame. You deserve to do well on the quality of the food - we’ll definitely come back.

Staying in Aby village for a week's holiday and had to try the local pub. Exterior looks a bit "tired" but don't be put off - inside it's friendly. cosy and lots of character. Excellent choices of dishes on the menu and "daily specials" board - we especially appreciated the choice of gluten-free options and Dawn was happy to go through each option in detail. Good portions and served hot! Very tasty and wholesome. Wide range of dessert options too and it was evident from conversations with other diners, that Dawn would also be happy to adapt these just to suit individual requirements. Obviously very deserving of the many awards over many years.
