Catch up in Tarporley, pre lunch and I've been here before. Really friendly owner and her really friendly dog with a super temperament. Just two pots of tea on this occasion but I'll be back for sure, when next in the area. Nice ambience, quite busy but owner happy for us to sit at the 'staff' table.

Mixed experience here - some good...some not so good... First the good - the food itself was nice, with a wide range of lunch choices, cakes, (including gluten free ones) and beverages. Although we didn't have our dog with us, the cafe is also dog-friendly (appreciate some may not see this as a positive). The young lad working in the cafe was very pleasant, but was left largely on his own by other staff members for a while during the busy lunchtime rush period. I understand there is a need for staff breaks - but a bit unsure of the timing of these. Anyway - hats off to him, great service under the circumstances as the place was busy. Now the less good... there was a couple in the cafe at the time and the lady complained about a dirty fork, now i don't know if the fork was dirty or not to be honest - but we felt the member of staff was a bit terse with her when this was raised. Anyway the staff member cleaned the fork and returned it... job done etc.. however when the couple in question had left the member of staff (on a break and at a table in the cafe) decided to moan about her interaction with 'knife woman' (as the customer was referred to) while the cafe was full of other customers - I feel this is really bad form, regardless of rights and wrongs - surely staff gripes can be made behind the scenes and not in front of remaining customers? My impression was that the cafe has some good local support and custom - this is a good thing of course, but not sure we would return if back in the area given the above impressions made.

Met a friend for and our visit was very disappointing.,When we arrived we were told to sit down as I had booked a table. We were then ignored for about 15 minutes and no one checked we were ok or made eye contact. When we finally got to order we waited a fair while. We were going to stay and have coke but again being totally ignored decided to pay and leave. Would definitely not recommend

Stopped in Tarporley whilst driving through the area and looked for a coffee shop along the high street. Although there were seats outdoors, we opted to sit indoors where it was air conditioned to escape the middle of the day heat. The owner came over and with a friendly greeting handed us the menus. We couldn't resist the cakes on offer and they were washed down with nice hot drinks.

Four of us went for hot drinks after a walk around the town, ordered 2 latte’s and Americano and a tea after sitting at a table for at least 10 mins being ignored, staff wandering around not clearing tables, avoiding eye contact… we ordered and waited, drinks arrived in a strange order but were okay. Latte’s come with a lotus biscuit but nothing for tea or americano. whilst we drank a couple came in and asked to order they were abruptly told to sit outside or order a take away as there were no tables free, they duly did this and waited, they then came back in as a dirty table became available because after 10 minutes approx nobody had been to take their order but were totally ignored until their patience faded and the gave up… I paid the bill, no please, no thank you, no eye contact… the attitude seemed like your not local so no need to worry about return business as the staff were perfectly friendly to people they knew! Manners cost nothing unlike the latte’s… if this is how 3 staff handle about 10 customers and can’t manage a please and thank or you clear tables then I would avoid the disappointment and go elsewhere

So we went to the counter and requested menus, order 2 cappuccino, 2 crumpets and a bowl of soup, crumpets turned up followed by soup 15 minutes later 2 cappuccinos, tasted coffee it was burnt, mentioned it to the grey haired lady wearing glasses and grey jeans, got grunted at, no politeness, no sorry can we get you another, went into gift shop picked a Mother’s Day card, paid bill got grunted at again, fortunately there are a couple of other coffee shops in tarporley, we will stick to them, also whist we were there a member of staff got cakes out from the freezer, so not freshly made are they

Visited for lunch today. Ordered a Cheese and Ham Toastie, half way through the second half there was a long dark hair (not the only complaint about this). I let one of the girls know about it, she apologised and said they would not charge me, then asked me if there was anything they could do and I asked for another Toastie. When it was ready it was thrown onto the table in front of me..... I was going to let this go, because things happen, but....... before leaving I used the toilet and was horrified by how dirty it was. It smelt lovely but was filthy.

Food was hardly warm and filling just plonked in not heated as requested. Young families entered so bedlam with noise and no one saying anything. Why can't young parents understand that everyone doesn't enjoy their noisy, loud untrained brats! A total waste of an hour and £20+ quid! Won't come back again unless owner in to ensure usual standard or weekend when staff tip tip. Very disappointing

We each opted for paninis, my partner Stilton, bacon & mushroom and mine the Stilton, avocado and mandarin, with apple cider chutney. They were yummy!! So fresh and of high quality ingredients - definitely the best panini I have ever had and such an inspirational flavour. The quality of the coffee was excellent and the service so friendly. All were excellent, the GF choice was as good as it gets with no obvious compromise in the presentation and choices. We all ate to our satisfaction with a few items left, we accepted the offer to take home what we could not finish. The Cafe is fitted out to reflect a modern twist to a traditional cottage ambiance. A great afternoon was spent here and one we would recommend without hesitation. The total menu from breakfast to light lunches and of course the Afternoon Teas offers excellent value for money. Called in for coffee and a cake. The choice was good and the setting really nice. Can't really go wrong with a coffee and crumpets but was very disappointed with the staff. One older member of staff came and sat at a table with a newspaper. They proceeded to have very loud conversations with the other two younger members of staff who were standing around next to them. They seemed more intent on discussing what they were all going to have for lunch from the menu. They then became very critical about what I can only understand to be the owners request for a cake delivery. I don't really need to hear this type of conversation when just wanting a quiet drink. Need to be mindful that there is much and increasing competition in the village for places to go for a coffee and service like this won't help custom.

Popped in one week day for some hot drinks as our usual cafe was jam packed. Really liked the decor - very quaint and vintage inspired. When we walked in with the baby I got the feeling we weren't really welcomed, kind of got glared at and the lady serving wasn't very friendly. Continued to get glared at when breastfeeding (discreetly I might add) so felt really uncomfortable. Our drinks and cake (carrot cake which was actually very nice) were just plonked on the table in silence! If I remember rightly there wasn't a baby change table either (I could be mistaken) but in general I wouldn't say this is a very baby/breastfeeding-friendly place. Won't be returning.

My sister & I visited on bank holiday Monday for lunch. It has a friendly feel & there's something on the menu for everyone. There was a wait for food but we didn't mind this as food is made fresh to order. Our food was delicious, you could tell it was freshly made with good quality produce - hard to find these days! The service is spot on, attentive and friendly but not invasive. A little gem that we will definitely return to!

Visited Latte Da today for lunch and it's such an adorable little place I had to leave a comment - which I never do! I ordered a toasted sandwich which came with kettles chips and salad, which I was so filling I didn't finish the salad and homemade coleslaw :) Sometimes it can feel a bit intimidating going in somewhere to eat lunch alone but felt quite comfortable sitting and just chilling out! Thank you for the lovely service and I especially like that you are family run as I'm all for local independent businesses. Will visit again soon!

Fab decor, great menu choices, lovely waitress and host. Great choice of homemade cakes. Chicken, bacon and Brie salad and the Coronation chicken salad very nice and good portion at £6.95. Love the vintage crockery and has been decorated with lots of though and care put into it. Nice high street with boutiques, shops, antique shop. Lovely day out.

We frequent tea shops rather often and I'll comment on Latte' Da on that basis because that's what it is really. It's really pleasant inside with a few seats outside if the weather is fine. Decoration is at the cute end of the spectrum with service and presentation both being excellent.A great place to relax, read the papers and enjoy tea and cake (and of course a little more off the traditional menu). They don't do anything exceptional but they are greater than the sum of their parts.Well worth a visit and certainly the best place on the High Street and thus I guess in the immediate area.Enjoy!

Visited Tarporley last week and called in here for a coffee but saw the menu and had to have the afternoon tea. It was absolutely lovely great choice of sandwiches and delicious cake. We couldn't eat all of it so the lovely staff wrapped it up for us to take home. A lovely afternoon an will definitely be returning very soon.

I am staying at BW for work and booked dinner at Hilltops on my first night. I was initially nervous that there didn't appear to be anything suitable for vegans on the menu, but I double checked with the receptionist, who was very helpful and communicated my request to the restaurant. This was a short-notice request, so I was not expecting much, but the chefs went above and beyond. The tofu & veg curry was really tasty, and the choc fudge cake was delicious. I couldn't eat it all in one sitting, but the team prepared the leftovers for me to take to my room and eat later. Thank you to the talented kitchen team and wonderful front of house team at Hilltops!

We were visiting the Anderton Boat Lift which is just 10 minutes down the towpath from The Moorings. As the coffee shop there was quite full after the boat trip we decided to try somewhere else close by. The Moorings is a little gem of a place, run by chefs, so expect hotel like presentation of excellent food, which is worth waiting for. This is a totally different dining experience from the usual canal side cafe. Dogs are allowed inside on the hard floor area, but we sat outside with ours as it was a beautiful day and we could admire the canal boats in the marina.
