Nice oldie worlde pub. Great service, Lilly our waitress was very attentive Delicious home cooked food Party of 5 , food arrived quite fast, we were offered a FREE dessert but all but one of us were too full to have one. Gave us loyalty cards . Would definitely eat here again excellent meal. Excellent service Friendly staff.

Visited for lunch with my husband on bank holiday Monday and both chose steak and ale pie. Unfortunately neither of us could cut through the top crust of the pie and the meat was very dry and hard. Spoke to the waiting staff and he said he would speak to the chef but we were given no feedback from the kitchen. Very disappointing and would not recommend.

Had Christmas Dinner today, prawns had gone off and smelt off really bad, turkey dinner was “okay” at best.. very very dry meat and overcooked roasties and wasn’t enough veg for everyone and food was cold… £85 pp is crazy for the experience.. first and last time unfortunately

A fantastic experience at the Rugby Tavern whilst having dinner with family.I would thoroughly recommend this friendly buzzing pub/restaurant were we were made to feel so welcome with their genuinely friendly approach. The delicious food was served quickly by great staff who were brilliantly managed by Danny. The menu has a great variety of food for everyone and all the food coming out of the kitchen looked very tasty.I would thoroughly recommend the Rugby Tavern for great a great experience for food or a drink in the cosy pub or big pub gardens.Thank you Danny and team.

Fab first visit to the Wainwright Inn last week. Lovely friendly bar with a large outdoor area for eating and drinking. Great service with very short wait for food The tuna roll with side salad and extra bowl of chips was lovely as was the Bitter. Would definitely recommend a visit and on the 516 bus route from Ambleside too 😁x

Sadly, in our opinion, the Basset Arms has gone downhill. The roast was not good, it took an age to get to us, the vegetables arrived a good 5 minutes after the main plates, the cauliflower/broccoli cheese was very crusty, the roast potatoes were like leather, the chicken portions were very small and the service was poor. It was very disappointing!

Visited the old dog pub for a Saturday night meal and wish we hadn’t. Was overcharged by £4-00 on our first drinks at the bar…..genuine mistake ? Before I’d put my change in my pocket the gentleman standing next to me was overcharged too. Was shown to our seat by the window and the blinds were absolutely filthy, the decor wasn’t great in the restaurant either. Food was ok but nothing to rush back for. Please check your change or you’ll be paying a certain persons surcharges.
