The Railway in Lambeth

The Railway Hotel & Public house has been approximately ten minutes walk from my house for over 20 years. It is situated less than 30 seconds walk from Streatham Common Overground Rail Station. I have been there many times before & will return there many more. Totally dog friendly place. Impressive food & beverage menus. Beautiful decor. Garden area available for use as well as outdoor seating areas available also.

Good community orientated pub with back bar area for events. It has a fantastic comedy gig on once a month. They have a chef that started about 12 months ago, so now the food is fantastic, especially for the value for money.

Cute little pub, had some interesting beers, but not the best selection. Food looked really nice but didn’t try it. Looking forward to coming back for a bite

Amazing pub great beer waited 3.5 years back to the UK great pub

Despite being here for 13yrs, this was my first visit and I loved it! Love the quaint English decor and back garden. The Tea Room is let out for events which wr had hired and the service was great! Funnily enough a couple of days later, I went back there for a coffee because all the cafes were closed after 5pm and I had the best double espresso served locally. Will be going back more often now. Better late than never!

Lovely pub located near Streatham Common station. There is an ample room of seating situated around the pub. Lovely outdoor seating area at the rear. Again, ample seating is available. Highly recommend a visit.

We booked the Function Room to hold a Wake after a Funeral and ordered a buffet for 70 people. Everyone at the Railway made sure that the afternoon went well. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was good. All the staff were really helpful. It made a difficult day easier. Thank you!

Great pub - just stumbled across it, not an intended destination but couldn't have been happier with the "accident". Excellent craft and cask beer.

Saturday night staff look exhausted. A complete lack of enthusiasm any kind of willingness to go above and beyond. The service was tepid drinks were tasty, beers were good. Pub looked nice really enjoyed football and the garden. London is a much bigger place than just Streatham my advice is remember that every customer should receive an experience that makes them want to come back. This comes from business management experience and I didn’t want to leave this review but the disregard deserves feedback and response. Please do better

Great find whilst staying close by, beers are good and the service was great despite the euros being shown. Great atmosphere with many people there to watch the euros, the staff were excellent clearing glasses and serving delicious food. Our group had steak, burger and fish & chips, all enjoyed their meals. I especially enjoyed the Cajun spiced chips which came with the steak. Would definitely visit again and recommend to friends and family

Odd staff, odd man who collects glasses, rushed at closing, food average. Probably a nice pub in the day but nothing special.

Good food, and friendly staff. Only criticism would be that I ordered via the qr code on the table and the starters and main came out at the same time.

Kindergarden - never seen so many children in a pub. Another pub that seems to want people to reserve tables no wonder prople stop dropping into pubs.

Had a great 30th party in the function room at the rear of the main bar. It's a great party & event space which complements the busy front bar. Great local community pub with a brilliant vibe with lovely friendly & efficient staff. Love the place & so will you as when you visit . Enjoy 😊

Beer okay, but a short measure… Should have noticed but didn't (I was a barman/bar manager for a number of years and never did anything so tacky/dishonest). Only half an inch short in this case, but still unacceptable. Looking at my food receipt this morning I saw an added 20-25% tip. I probably signed the chit without looking, but you tend to trust "servers" where I live (USA). The food was just about okay, but overpriced. If I was so inclined I'd visit later in the evening and brick their thieving windows. No wonder the pub was almost empty. May you fail on all levels.

Next stop: The Railway! A really nice pub in Streatham, right next to the station. Drinks menu is good, staff is friendly and apparently they host a great pub quiz on the Tuesday!

Unfortunately, it's not a good visit at all. No proper wheelchair access, back gate smooch past the smelly bin to enter. Fine, if you have a buggy. A couple of big lips on the ramp meant I had to get out and walk as my powerchair wouldn't be able to deal with without more staring. Fortunately, I can. Didn't help with the cheap seat gaupers watching as I had to walk through the whole pub to my table. 15 minutes to get some attention for drinks, as table service. Food, the belly roast, bland, and under seasoned. Massive portion of food left. The fish and chips favoured better. Batter/oil was fresh, haddock yum. Chips out of a bag. But you get proper garden peas. Yum! Apple pie had been nuked too much, but ok . More than half of our lunch was left. End of our meal was perfectly timed for the screen to come out and football to go on to round up my Mother's Day lunch. When we left, the back room was a hub of families and buggies having fun, so the Railway is a loved resource. Just I had a rough experience today.

lovely local pub :) always a lovely buzz in there, they have sweet activities like bottomless hot drinks for £5 if youre studying or pub quiz night on tuesdays, and seem to switch up their cocktails which is fun! i got some loaded fries and they were quick and delicious. the staff is always super sweet. definitely recommend as a place to catch up w friends :)

Great food, mid week menu is the best, especially the lamb chops. Great small plates. Love the comedy and all the activities, kid friendly until 7pm, which is about right I think. Dog friendly with lots of cute dogs go cuddle!

Great food, quick service, nice decor.

Without question the worst pub food in London. A year ago I ordered the bangers and mash which strangely arrived 2 minutes after ordering - it was clearly old food thrown in the microwave and was inedible. Maybe it was an off day I thought so decided to give them a second chance a year later - this time ordered the croquettes and pita bread and hummus. Again, arrived in approximately 2 minutes - enough time for the microwave to do its thing. The croquettes looked like they were veg fingers from Lidl and the pita bread was stale AND burnt! The hummus was dry and tasteless. Do not eat here, you will regret it.

I go for the weekly quiz which is superb. The pub has good drinks, great staff, mostly good food, and overall a great atmosphere. Recommend it.

Nice pub. They have a room where you can book a large function for up to 50 people. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Ladies' room is not massive but not a tiny closet either. Good location. Reasonable prices.

Cosy pub, tasty roast dinner, well presented and plenty on the plate. Dog friendly and table bookings can be reserved. Would definitely be a place to revisit. Friendly staff, one member of staff was very quick to greet everyone, no one left waiting to be seated to, very impressive.

The pub is great and the beer is good. However I did have a concern about hygiene the last time I visited the pub. A staff member spent some time petting and playing with a customer's dog. The bar person did not wash their hands and was then serving customers. This I feel should be addressed.

Visited as part of the Streatham music festival. Good selection of beers on table. Good decor and atmosphere.

Food looked good and this is a trendy but trad pub. Good selection of ales and lagers. Cocktails looked v good. A real gem of a place with a great local vibe. Highly recommended.

Went on a Sunday for a roast. Didn't need to book and sat in the rear garden. You can order from an app which is quick and convenient. Good selection of drinks. The food was good but not great. The pork roast was much better than the beef. The beef was cut too thin and tasted over done. The vegetables were ok but not roasted which left them a bit bland. Overall it was ok just not a destination from afar. Tooting has better alternatives. The staff seemed frustrated and over worked so perhaps management needs to address that too.

We are on a vacation in London, and we were looking for pub with good beer and food, and we have found it. I higly recommend this pub, really enjoyed every craft beer and 28 days aged beef burger.

Don't write many reviews but they microwaved the chicken wings I ordered today. Chips lovely but I was semi offended at the microwaving situation. Had a long day and needed the cheeky meal in between to be something that went right. Boooo

I have passed this place for many years but it certainly looks good inside and out. While alcohol prices have gone up, a single rum and coke was £5.40, the service was pleasant and staff smiled when complimented. The food was nice as it was served buffet style for a funeral. I would go back at another time for regular food on the menu.

The lady assistant who came to clear our table was very rude. She wanted to take my food that I paid for away I asked her if there is anything left in the bowl, she just pushed the bowl and all the chips fell on the table! Not great customer service experience for me and my colleagues and this is my first experience

A wonderfully welcoming pub with very friendly staff. The pub was very clean and tidy when I was there. The inside has a range of comfortable seating with a separate area around the back of the bar on the way to a very respectable beer garden. In addition, there is a reasonable number of picnic tables out the front. The lamb chops with potatoes and brocoli was superb. And, of course, the Guinness was excellent

The food was good. I especially enjoyed the seasonal summer salad. Our drinks were great and we ended up coming twice during our stay in the area.

Really warm and nice pub. The food is a little on the pricey side but definitely worth the money. Have tried the Sunday roast and the pork belly and they were both great. Edit. Went back here again recently, had the burger and felt it was a bit dry. Other than that everything was good.

Three words... soggy battered fish. Not cool. The staff are also not welcoming or friendly.

The Railway in Streatham, by Streatham overground station is an excellent pub offering a great variety of beers both cask and keg. Lovely staff working very hard to please all the punters. Two big rooms and an extensive garden. All perfect but I don't recommend parking up the road!

Great atmosphere and attentive staff

Went for Sunday lunch. Service was very good. Opinions on food are very subjective, I had the roast beef, which I asked for well done, it was. Roast potatoes seemed like they were boiled first and then put in the oven for a short time, and it was all swimming in gravy. We will try somewhere else next time.

Our experience there was good , staff efficient ,service fast and efficient. We had the Sunday lunch , my pork belly was hot, presented nicely , no crackling it was soft and inedible the whole dish was flooded in gravy so the roast potatoes were soft and wet , the Yorkshire pudds looked great but cold. A few tweeks here and there and our dining experience would have been totally different. My wife said the quality of the beef exceptional. Would still return.

Great spot and a bit of a sun trap on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Roast beef was spot on. Pint in jug went down well too. Friendly and welcoming staff, and dog friendly. What more do you need?!

The bar staff are absolutely amazing. I have no idea what the fella is talking about before. All I have experienced is five star hospitality. The food is exceptional especially the chicken schnitzel and the steak. The Christmas menu is lovely. And I have have tried it

It had a great vibe to the World Cup at The Railway. A very decent and safe crowd just supporting their favourite team. We enjoyed the beers and Fish & Chips. Thanks.

Great pub with good food and drinks. Staff are lovely. Shame they only allow kids until 7pm. I don’t mind having a cut off time for kids but 7pm seems quite early. It was 6:45pm when we arrived and the place was full of kids still having meals.

Great atmosphere, interesting selection of real ales and an interesting menu. Overall, a great pub and definitely worth a visit.

From an old bloke's point of view this is an old fashioned pub that reminds me of some happy times of a misspent yout. Proper bar, proper seats, lovely staff, good, wholesome food. Exceptional fish'n'chips. Its right next to Streatham Common railway station and I'd thoroughly recommend it.
