We were here for a family wedding and booked in for two nights. We arrived late afternoon and were shown to our room (called Botany) via a back staircase which was in urgent need of a vacuum cleaner. Halfway up there was an emergency door leading to the back yard of the pub which was wide open letting cold air in. At the top of the staircase was an office door which was wide open revealing what can only be described as chaos. On entering the room things were much cleaner and the room was quite acceptable although a little dark with all the old furnishings. The bathroom was well fitted and very bright with a bath and walk-in shower. We were then told that the only exit at night after closing time was via the back door as the pub was locked and unmanned which we found rather disconcerting as did other guests in the next room. We had arranged a meal in the pub with family that evening and everything was perfect, food, service and restaurant were very good, so that gave us a good feeling for the breakfast offering. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Breakfast is extremely poor, held in a tiny room upstairs where there are three very small tables and a kitchen set-up. You serve yourself with everything except a pre-ordered hot breakfast at your designated time, which was a big disappointment with sausages that tasted off and bacon that was overcooked and hard. All toast and teas/coffees were self-serve. Certainly not the experience that was expected given the room rate of £120 per night! Surely it would be much better served in the restaurant?? We were vastly disappointed and declined breakfast the next morning leaving early. It must be said staff were all very polite and helpful, perhaps management need to take a closer look at their offering. The website says nothing about the strange breakfast arrangements or the fact that the establishment is unmanned at night. We will not be returning.

We were here for a meal as guests for a special wedding anniversary celebration, we don't live in the area but would love the opportunity to revisit. The staff were lovely, they all worked hard to look after everyone, the room we used was superb, and the food was outstanding. The home made steak pie - oh my goodness, I'd travel the 2 hours from my home just for this! The home made lasagne was equally excellent according to others on our table. The pavlova was absolutely delicious and provided in copious quantities. Honestly superb quality food and service and surroundings. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Went there with our son for lunch, we got there at 12 noon and it was deserted it did fill up later on. We got drinks in an looked at the menu plenty.to chose from with lots of dishes with gluten free options I had a sweet and sour veg sizzler with rice a good sized plateful. My son had a meat dish with chips this was a big portion also, my.wife had a fish dish that went down well, I couldn't manage a sweet but they both had sticky toffee pudding with custard all good. 10 out of 10 to the lady who served us she worked very hard, also the gents loo was very clean which is a bonus for me. The whole bill was.around 70 pounds maybe not the cheapest but really looking forward to going back

Lovely old pub. Came here for an overnight stay for my birthday with my husband. We had a lovely sunny afternoon in the beer garden, with a few drinks. A very nice evening meal followed, from an extensive menu, well cooked, nice bottle of wine. The service was good & staff were helpful & friendly, especially Steve. We had a lovely four poster room & a good cooked breakfast in the morning. Would visit again. NB This was 9th May 2016! Don't what it is like now as may be different management!

Good food, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff! My family has been coming here for years (it's been our local for a long time!) & it has had a few owners and makeovers over the years, but the consistent positives are the attentive, welcoming bar staff and the beautiful environment. My only criticism is that on my last visit there was a restrictive deficit of vegetarian/vegan options, making it almost impossible to have anything but falafel (fortunately I love falafel, but not everybody does 🙈). Never change Busfeild 😁🍻💜

We came to this pub for a meal as the photos looked amazing online. We rang up and booked a table. However, the service we received was awful. Firstly, the bar tender seated us but did not inform us that in the snug area it is not table service. Therefore, we were sat for half an hour waiting for someone to come to the table. The food was average, the peppercorn sauce we received with the steak was not cooked with actual peppercorns which was disappointing. And the batter on the fish was thick and slimy. The chips were nice though but they aren’t hard to cook, well neither is peppercorn sauce or fish. Overall, would not recommend to friends. I hope they improve their service as it really let the place down as it is a beautiful pub on the outside and inside.

My friends had been speaking quite highly about the food served here, so finally seven of us made it there for lunch. It was a lovely sunny day but outside seating for so many was not possible. Agewise we ranged from one almost-adult to two who count as seniors! The starters were very generous-the deep-fried Brie was very good and I could have demolished it (but then, I'd be stuffed.). Having been warned beforehand, I went havsies. Then, I ordered the Burger with pulled pork and cheese on top. It came with three huge onion rings decorating the top. Fries too...quite a large helping and crisp. As far as I was concerned, the size of the burger meant it was breakfast, lunch and dinner all in one for me. Sure, I shared. Unfortunately, the Fish and chips ordered by one of us was not up to par and was replaced without a word. The cocktail (se x at the sun) was nice. All in all, as a guest being treated to an English pub meal-I must say I enjoy ed it; especially the fried Brie.

Booked for 4 people for Sunday lunch. Arrived at the restaurant (where we had assumed we'd be eating) but we were told that our table was in the conservatory at the other side of the pub. The room was cold and uncomfortable but bright. Customers have to order food and drinks at the bar which makes it awkward when getting top-up drinks. Draft beer was good. When the food eventually arrived the lamb roast dinner was cold - the meat had obviously just been taken out of a fridge. This was changed for us for hot lamb. The sharing platter for 2 was very impressive but as the platter was made from cold steel the food went cold very quickly. The Yorkshire puddings were very good but the meat (beef, pork and lamb) was fairly sparse and it all tasted the same - a bit strange. Puddings were better than the mains and were all hot. Bit of a pain going back up to the bar to order them though. There was no-one to clear dirty plates and glasses from the tables so we had to put ours on a nearby (unoccupied) table. The overall event was OK (six out of 10) but we won't be rushing back. BTW the restaurant was packed with parties having Christmas meals.

Hoping to end our weekend break in style we booked a table for 4 adults and a dog on Sunday at 6pm looking forward to a good roast of 'locally sourced fresh food'. On entry the place was almost deserted and we were the only ones in the room we were placed in - maybe this should have rung some alarm bells? We ordered drinks and were then informed that they had run out of lamb and beef so the mixed meat sharing carvery which had been recommended, and the reason we had travelled over the moor, would only be chicken and ham! Oh, AND, they had run out of Yorkshire Puddings - really, at 6pm on a Sunday evening when they advertise food until 7pm? Time for a rethink and study of the menu. After much deliberation choices were made.... 'Oh sorry, no pie today, we haven't had any all day!' At this point we should have left but decided against better judgement not to. Two of us had starters of nachos with cheese, pulled pork and jalapenos - the top layer of nachos hid a pile of smashed and broken bits - clearly the end of the bag after what MUST have been a very busy Sunday! I am afraid the mains did not do anything to redeem the poor start to the meal. The haddock, chips and peas was satisfactory although the batter was rather soggy and not the best. The lasagne was bulked out with excessive tomato and the presentation was poor accompanied by 2 thin bits of garlic bread. The Hunter's chicken with bacon and cheese had some sauce that appeared to have been drizzled over the oven baked breast at the last minute and flashed under the grill - it had no real flavour. The burger with blue cheese was OK but lacked the flavour of blue cheese! All in all a disappointing meal. When this was pointed out to the waitress she was VERY apologetic and embarrassed but nothing more was forthcoming from the management.

Table booked at 6pm for Sunday lunch. After drinks order arrived we were told no beef and no lamb, just ham (so gammon rather than standard pork) and chicken. We were also told no Yorkshire puddings, which to us is a bit like saying no mashed potato when you have potatoes (you just make more mash, or in this case Yorkshire's, it's not hard). So our order went from four Sunday dinners to zero. Then after one of our party went for the steak pie we were told that had been off the menu all day, this is from an already very reduced menu. Starters weren't great and our second choice of mains were poor also. Hunter chicken consisted of bacon on grilled chicken breast with some BBQ sauce squirted on top, lasagne ok, burger ok, fish and chips very average. All in all, just about edible.

Went for a family meal very disappointing. By the time we got the cutlery, the meals were cold. My daughter ordered GF Fish and Chips in Beer Batter. The order was taken then 10 mins later told they had run out of GF batter. As a Caterer of 40 years a minutes job to make some batter. My wife asked for mint sauce it arrived when she had nearly finished. The Pub did not seem particularly busy. Chips were just cooked rather than golden brown. I had steak and ale pie and about 8 Chips and a tablespoon of mushy peas served on a massive plate it all looked a bit lonely. The menu seemed to cater well for Vegetarian and Vegans a lifestyle choice but poorly for GF a dietary choice. As the pub uses a computer system it should know when ordering if an item is unavailable. As this is the first family meal since last August I would have expected to be welcomed not treated like you were an inconvenience. My daughter ended up eating a veg sizzler and chips not the Fish and Chips she ordered.

I have visited this establishment previously and had an enjoyable meal, but this visit left a lot to be desired. There was a 'specials board' on the wall, but sadly most of the items appeared to be crossed out with the words 'sold out', it was unusual to see this because it was only 1 pm prime time eating one would have thought! We were presented with the normal menu, but I have to say there wasn't really anything unusual or imaginative on it to write home about. One of us had the fish and chips and I had the hot beef pannini with onions. The beef although tender had absolutely zero taste and there were hardly any onions to speak of. The bread was not of the best quality and didn't really have alot of flavour to it. A small portion of chips was served with the pannini, but there was no lovely fresh salad to accompany it this was an extra £2.50 which I think is rather mean when the pannini on its own cost £8.95! My husband had the fish and chips at £11.95 which although looked splendid sadly it was bland and tasteless and did not live up to expectations. We ordered some tea (costing £2.25 a cup) thinking it would be served in a china pot with cups and saucers, but it came in a latte glass with the tea bag already dunked in it, not great and rather lazy in my opinion of the establishment saving on washing up perhaps! I think you need to up your game and try harder instead of resting on your laurels after being featured on Channel 4 'Four in a Bed' programme. That just isn't going to cut it anymore as there are far better pubs in that area that offer better quality food at similar prices.

I booked a table for 4 people for Friday night at 7pm. We got there for around 6.50. Unfortunately, two of our party could not attend due to having to go to hospital but we did not want to cancel and inconvenience the pub. When we walked in, whilst we could see that arrows were on the floor giving a one way system through the bar area and to the dining room and PPE equipment used on the bar, we did not see a sanitiser in the entrance. In addition, there was a group of people to the corner of the bar area which meant that there was not much room in there at all and certainly not enough to socially distance. I spoke with the girl on the bar and said we had a table booked but was now for two rather than four. It took her a while to find our booking but then she did and told us they were sorting out a different table. We waited in the bar area, which was becoming very busy at this point. We were just left there until I moved through to the first dining area part and found the same girl cleaning a table. I asked her if our table was ready. She told me to walk around to the other dining part to the far corner and we would find the table. We walked through and found that tables and people were not socially distanced at all. We sat at our table for 15 minutes. Three of the staff wandered through and collected glasses but not one member of staff asked us if we wanted to order. Eventually, we decided to leave. This pub needs to sort out the distancing for tables and needs to consider splitting the pub into dining area and drinking area. Having seen previous reviews, I had looked forward to trying the food and I could see that there were not that many people eating. What a shame and a waste of a Friday evening

Had a lovely evening meal with excellent staff serving excellent food, well done. The burgers are to die for and the sticky toffee pudding with custard was spot on.

Four of us ate here on a Sunday lunch time. Whatever you fancy there was plenty of choice, even in these post-Covid times. It was just lovely to find the place open and buzzing again - we can't afford to lose our traditional village pubs like the Busfeild, so get on and book soon :-) You won't regret it.

We booked for Sunday lunch and were glad we did - the place was full. We arrived on time and were immediately seated. The staff were working flat out, yet the service was timely and delivered with good humour. Someone apologised for the wait and thanked us for "bearing with us", but we hadn't noticed any delay. The food was excellent - the meat was lean and tender and the sweet (jam roly poly) sat perfectly on the fine line between too light and stodgy. We are holidaying for the week in the area and will definitely eat here again.Highly recommended.

Called in for lunch, a spur of the moment descision when we were in the area. Warm cosy atmosphere, log fire, friendly welcome and already quite busy, which I always think is a good start. Pleanty to choose from on the menu and the food was very good. Prices are reasonable and we would reccomend the Busfeild Arms.

Would recommend a visit - ours was most enjoyable. The room was lovely - food was excellent and the staff were warm and welcoming. Thoroughly enjoyed our time in the bar area - lovely log fire, something rarely seen these days.

Came in to the Busfeild without a reservation and was able to get a cosy 2 seat corner. Exceptional food, including one of the best burgers I've had in a long while. Well worth a visit.

This was the first stop on our holiday tour . 2 days of sheer bliss . The rooms were so luxurious and homely , a real treat. The staff and the owners were a delight. We had booked a table in advance for our evening meal, which is recommended as when we arrived at 6 the place was packed. Our food was delicious and the service was very good. If you stay weekends just pop down and have a chat with Jack he restores the place at weekends he’s a wealth of information and a lovely guy. I would definitely recommend the Bushfield Arms to anybody, a lovely staff to our holiday. Thanks guys

We were warmly welcomed (our main priority) and well served by Hannah, Chloe and Beth. It was early evening and we'd called in for aperitifs and also had the garlic cheesy bread to keep us going. Excellent. The price of the drinks was good, particularly the lime and soda which can be exorbitant and reach £1.50 in some pubs! Here it cost 60p - a sensible price. The Pinot Grigio Blush ('Lyric') was also good value at £14.45 a bottle. The lounge bar was cosy and rustic and nearly full (a Wednesday) by 6pm - always a good sign. We look forward to visiting on a steak night, which looks good value at £29.95 for 2 steaks (rump or sirloin) + a bottle of wine. Thanks for making two old pensioners welcome!

Been here a fair few times, really nice and baby friendly, waitress put us on a table with enough room to have our newborn in the pram as he's too young to use a high chair. Good food as always, all 4 of us were happy.

Been staying in the area the last few days with friends and have eaten here three evenings and some lunchtimes. I cannot fault any of the meals I have had because they have all been fresh , delicious and excellent value for money. Served by friendly, helpful and attentive girls, and a warm welcome from the landlady every time we visited. Will definitely be visiting again!

Just watched the repeat of Four In A Bed with this couple. I thought the rooms looked fantastic and that they could charge much more! They really should of won and they would of done if it wasn’t for their very generous natures. Very personable and honest people! I will definitely stay there if I’m in the region!

Booked this stay for friends as a birthday treat as they wished to see emerdale county!! Couldn’t have picked a better place , fantastic rooms, food and staff with Yorkshire hospitality thrown in, have scored many brownie points for this weekend, lots of walking close by and central for Leeds Bradford Skipton, 5 stars is not enough

This was a second visit as we enjoyed first time. A family meal on our recommendation but it didn't live up to that. The service was slow and not very attentive until the owner started to help out. There was not really enough staff on for a busy sunday. Our meals came rather slow with the waitress bring two at a time. Plates were plenty which was what we remembered from our last visit. One meal was not up to scratch and we would hav said sooner but we didn't hav a table check. When we mentioned this the owner was very polite and even took the meal off the bill . We will go back again but mayb not on a sunday lunch

Editing review as I thought this was about another place entirely. Fisherman's is an awesome pub. Love the location and the beer. No food was on when we went this time though. Great pub, can be understaffed a lot though and queue times can sometimes affect the experience.

Place is clean and tidy. Food is awful. Had Festive meal of starter and main. Starter of nachos meant to have pulled turkey and bacon. Needed microscope to find it. Main of Xmas dinner was terrible. All the veg was way over cooked and soggy. Yorkshire pud needed hammer and chisel, roast pots under cooked, stuffing ball absolutely tasteless and I don't think you can get a smaller pig in blanket. £45 down the drain.
