Editing review as I thought this was about another place entirely. Fisherman's is an awesome pub. Love the location and the beer. No food was on when we went this time though. Great pub, can be understaffed a lot though and queue times can sometimes affect the experience.

We went into this pub and straight away the landlord spoke to us and made us feel welcome. We went in with a little dog and he brought her some water without us asking for it. We started to talk to him (George) and found him to be very informative of the local area and very helpful. The pub is ideal for walkers and cyclists just off the canal path but at the moment doesn’t serve food. Hopefully it will in the future as we plan to return.

We tried here today for the first time, we were going to eat but decided against it after being served at the bar. Firstly I thought the bar person had been bought in off the street, certainly no training there at least , she had no idea. Poured the worst pint of real ale I've seen ever, although in saying that my hubby said it was a well kept pint. Then, I ask for a chardonnay she goes to too look, no chardonnay, what dry have you got I ask, she looks at me blankly, so I said what white, she gets the bottle out the fridge for me to look at, I didn't like the one, so asked what else have they got, the next bottle was a chardonnay??!! Then to top it she gets my glass by putting her fingers inside it. Kinda put us off. We watched people around us leave food too. Shame, this could be the perfect place, right on the canal. We won't be going back.

A pretty poor attempt at a roast dinner. Beef very tough and under seasoned. Potatoes hard and under seasoned. Mash with margerine instead of butter. Carrots just boiled and undercooked, not even properly peeled. Red cabbage undercooked. Gravy far too thin and under seasoned. Yorkshire pudding not great but at least homemade. Almost a miss at every opportunity. At £15.95 I'd say go elsewhere for your roast dinner. Nice pint and a fire which is a plus.

During a recent boating holiday along the Leeds Liverpool Canal, we were moored up for a few days due to a tree blocking our path...luckily we were almost next to the pub and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly during our stay at the canal side. We had several meals there and all of them were excellent, and we particularly recommend the Game Pie, Bangers and Mash, and the Hunters Chicken which were absolutely delicious! The pub is child friendly, having a board games on hand to help keep them entertained, and also dog friendly with a jar of treats on the bar for the doggos - Mushy Pea loved them! Thank you very much to the landlord and the lovely barmaid who looked after us in our hours of need! We will definitely be back!

On arrival, we were told they only served food with table reservations, despite there being lots of spare tables. To that end, I asked if we could reserve one of the empty tables and the barman replied "Oh, that would work, I'll book you in for 7pm" (it was 6.40). His colleague appeared, and I explained and she sat us immediately but asked if we'd wait before ordering. We eventually ordered 2 fish & chips and it took almost an hour to arrive. On arrival one fish was a decent size but the other really small. We were so hungry we ate both portions but I mentioned the small fish, which was didn't generate a comment. On the plus side, the staff (especially the young lady) were very nice. The decent portion of food tasted nice, if a little overpriced.

We had heard & read good things about The Fishermans Inn so were looking forward to some good food and a pleasant night. Sadly, we were very disappointed. Our table was booked for 7pm and on arrival they did not seem busy with diners. Our drink order was taken quickly and delivered, but then came a fairly long wait to order food from a quite short menu. Eventually we ordered but then came a really long wait. It was about 1 hour before we got our order. The food was pretty reasonable and hot but basic. I had a glass of Merlot which was distinctly below average. The (2) staff working in the bar area were both pleasant enough although dropping the contents of a dish of slaw was not appreciated by my brother whose jacket was hit. Overall very disappointing; we will not be back.

We there as part of a family group following the scattering of a family member's ashes, so quite an emotional experience. Waiting staff were friendly and listened to requests for a few changes, all seemed well. Unfortunately when the food arrived it was shocking. The chips were hard, the fish was so over done it turned to dust when I used my knife and folk. The meat in the sandwiches was tough, the lamb shank was like leather. Upon complaining to the waitress we were offered the bill without the lamb shank. However we felt this wasn't enough as most of the food was below par. We asked to see the manager who had no customer skills whatsoever, he actually withdrew the offer to remove the lamb shank and told us we had to pay the full amount! First class customer skills. Reading previous reviews they can obviously get it right sometimes, question you have to ask yourself is do you want to risk it? Is it the day you get undercooked chips and done to a crisp batter. Do worry the manager doesn't care so why should you? Avoid is my recommendation.

OK, as I read some of the previous reviews it's clear that mine is going to be the exception here. But I have to write of my experience, and hopefully this will alert others to get a far better service. To start with my family and I (a group of 4) arrived having walked a long way along the canal. We'd been travelling all day and hadn't eaten for hours. We'd heard good things about the Fisherman's Inn and the location is a steal! When we arrived the female manager told us that our order would be between 45 minutes and one hour. We were fine with that, and sat to enjoy the location with drinks. But as time passed - 30 mins, 50 mins, 70 mins we started to see that other customers were getting their food before us even though they'd arrived after us. But maybe there were justifiable reasons... maybe they'd ordered in advance? A little later we asked the manager if our order was on its way. Her response was surprisingly dismissive, with the "I told you it'd be about an hour." And when we started to voice our frustrations further her manner was jaw dropping: brusque, arrogant and very defensive. There was no attempt to charm or placate us, she was utterly devoid of any social skills. I was the customer but was made to feel an irrelevance... bizarre! Then I noticed that a table of 4 near us were having definite problems with the manager too. I asked them what their issue was - "Everything... the food is awful and we had to wait ages even though we'd ordered in advance!" At this point, especially as we had now been waiting one hour and 30 minutes - I repeat, one hour 30 minutes! I lost it with the manager and this utterly inept service. What else could we have done?! So, what of the food? Here's the kicker - all we'd ordered was 2 BURGERS AND A CAESAR SALAD yet this easy 'fast' food took one hour 30 minutes to cook. And it was awful!! We'd heard that the new management was Portuguese so had looked forward to some exciting additions on the menu. Not a bit of it - poor, average pub food. The only hint of Portugal are the 2 flags on the ceiling. I am sure that the manager will have her defensive response to this but she/the pub should seriously consider that 8 people (mine and the other group) won't be returning.

Arrived after a funeral. The food order had been submitted 3 days beforehand. We were told on arrival that they were putting signs up to state it was a private function. All was well. Nice pub. Great location . Then we waited and waited for the food. which was all preordered. The prawn cocktails consisted of 2 pieces of lettuce and 4 frozen prawns in a small wine glass with a watery sauce. The chicken & vegetable curry was like a stew where the curry seasoning hadnt been added. The cottage pie was solid potato and the base was just gravy and a sausage was found in the meal. The sausage was so hard it was inedible. The staff were opening the sandwiches to see which filling they had on the plate. Fortunately i didnt get any bad reviews for the Apple Pie or the Choolate Fudge Cake Because of the time it took to serve the party all 3 courses I was at the pub for 3hrs. I pre booked for a party of 9 and was told that I needed to submit a pre-order via email 3 days beforehand. I was given the email address to send the pre-order to. I did exactly as I was told to do and submitted the pre-order 3 days before. On the night of the booking, we turned up and told staff we were here for the booking. We were pointed to the table which was set out with 9 lots of cutlery. However, staff were extremely disinterested in serving us and continued to chat amongst themselves. My drink was served in a glass covered in lipstick. An hour passed and we still had not received our food. There was no one else in the pub other than us. We asked where our food was, seeing as staff had no interest in asking how we were getting on. We were told that they were waiting for us to order?! We explained about the pre-order. A staff member went to check and then came back and told us that they hadn’t checked the emails so didn’t see my pre-order list! But they would start making our food straight away. This wasn’t good enough and we demanded to speak to a manager. However, this was refused. An hour and a half after arriving, our food came. There was no apology. We weren’t offered a drink or anything to compensate for the inconvenience. The food was nothing to shout about either. It just appeared to have all been heated in the microwave. Very overpriced. As we left, over 2 hours after we arrived (and only had a one course meal), we demanded money off the bill. We were given 20% off. But still no apology. Disgraceful service all round. To be honest we weren’t going to eat here but ended up doing so as they said they could cater for a gluten free (coeliac) diner. How I wish they said they couldn’t. Anyway they weren’t serving Sunday lunches as such as they are using their Xmas menu throughout December— proceeded to choose from this ( four of us) £16.95 for two courses. Three prawn cocktails and one pate to start - to be fair this was the best part of the meal , prawns and pate all edible and quite tasty- even gluten free bread ( well toast) was provided. Onwards and upwards we were all looking forward to our main meal of Roast Beef, roast potatoes and “seasonal vegetables “ plus a Yorkshire pudding!!! The chef even promised gluten free gravy. Our mouths were watering at the thought. Well it’s a shame we didn’t leave after our starter as the “main” was a total let down - for all of us - tough beef, frozen vegetables which were soggy sprouts, hard ( but perfectly round and evenly sliced) carrots, soggy green beans and some parsnips with a bit of burnt honey on them and everything was luke warm ( my pet hate) We all ate parts of the meal - (only because we had paid for it and were hungry ). This meal was a complete disaster- in this day and age to serve frozen veg, frozen potatoes, frozen Yorkshire puddings ( god knows if the beef had been frozen) is a travesty and a definite no-no. It doesn’t take long to peel carrots, sprouts potatoes etc and give the paying customer what they surely deserve??The young waitress came at the end to clear the plates- all had food left, veg, beef etc— I asked her if they were using frozen veg? I asked if she would enquire as to “why they would use it” bless the waitress she cleared our plates apologised a lot and went to ask. She returned as we were leaving and said they were not using frozen veg- many more apologies followed- I said we weren’t blaming her but that it was frozen and nobody would believe otherwise. We are all 50/60– we know the difference between fresh and frozen!!!!I am upset on three counts- firstly that we decided to eat there at all - secondly that they think we were foolish enough to believe that the veg were fresh and thirdly that we wasted £34.00 on what should have been a lovely “Xmas meal”— if this is a “Special Xmas Meal” I dread to think what the meals are like for the other 11 months— the saving grace is that I hope this fair and unbiased review will heed other possible diners of the “specialness of their Xmas meal” if you like “frozen foods” crack on or do yourself a favour and go to Iceland - at least you can make sure the food is hot !!

Recently came to try the Sunday lunch as I’ve been in recently for a light lunch and heard it was under new management. Really disappointed unfortunately. The gravy was watery, the veg was sparse, the roast potatoes were raw in the middle, the Yorkshire puddings didn’t appear to be homemade, it wasn’t warm, the lady who cleared our plates never asked if everything was ok, neither did the waitress behind the bar who served us when we went to pay, the lady who I presume is the manager also looks like she’d rather be anywhere other than there. Chips are of the proper variety and our Pies were accompanied by a selection of 4 vegetables. Won't be so long in returning here next time.

As we sat down to dine we noticed the sign on the menu - 'Always the warmest welcome' which was exactly what we were given by Bethan and Holly. Our steak night was excellent - personal service, a cosy atmosphere, and quality rump and sirloin steaks with a good choice of wines included in the price of £25 per couple. The mixed olives that we shared before our meal were excellent value at £3 for a large bowl. We know dogs are welcome but sometimes wonder why so many dog owners are selfish and totally unaware of other diners' needs. One dog stood on its hind legs and put its mouth and paws on the table - a disgusting lack of hygiene. They are not human beings and the owners should realise that staff need to clean the tables vigorously to prevent infections or diseases. However, we look forward to our next visit and just hope insensitive dog owners can learn lessons from this. Thanks to all the staff for providing us with such a gourmet experience.

We ordered lunch. The pub was not full, but the food took well over 30 minutes to arrive. It was not particularly good - the crust of a steak pie looked raw, and the portions were not large. A couple of us had lasagne and it was fairly tasteless. The price was high for a mediocre meal. There are other local places which give better value & tastier meals. Used to be a good canal side venue.

We've been here a few times with the kids and always had a good, relaxing experience. The service is always friendly and they are happy to give the kids half portions. The full menu is available on a Sunday and there is a great range of vegetarian options on offer which goes far beyond the stereotypical margarita pizza and mushroom stroganoff. The beer is fantastic and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing pub lunch or evening meal.

Me and my partner love a good Ploughmans, unfortunately we did not get one here. £9.95 for half a poor quality pork pie, one lump of tasteless cheese, a lump of bread and salad. No ham, no pickle, no apple or grapes. The manager did say he was sorry we were not satisfied and gave us half our bill back but said that was how it was meant to be. So if you want a good Ploughmans walk a bit further to the Boathouse, they do a cracking one there.

We called here during our Leeds Liverpool canal walk for a drink, the guy on the bar has an excellent attitude towards making you feel welcome. We saw people eating and decided to go back for the evening meal. On a Tuesday it is £25 for 2 x 8oz sirloin steaks and a bottle of wine. 2 of us got the steak offer and 1 got a steak off the menu, the steaks were all cooked to perfection and I haven't had one as good as that in a restaurant for years. The staff were very attentive and it did get quite busy but with what they served and the the service we got it's no surprise. The home made onion rings and chunky chips are fabulous. This is a must for visiting. Taxi is very reasonable.

My wife and I ,with a friend, were in Bingley and decided to call in for an evening meal. The pub was welcoming and the person behind the bar was most obliging. The beer offering was a little disappointing, they had 6 hand pumps on but no dark beer available. We all ordered the same meak sepite the fact that the menu was quite extensive. Unfortunately the lasagnia was disappointing, being rather lacking in taste.

Had a good Sunday lunch here. Roast beef nicely cooked and presented and plenty of fresh veggies. Followed by a huge serving of cheese and biscuits which was very enjoyable. 3 cheeses and plenty of biscuits. Good choice of ales and a lovely canal side setting which would be great in summer.

A group of us went for dinner on Boxing Day and we had a lovely time. Greeted with a friendly team member and shown quickly to our table, drinks arrived promptly. As we had pre ordered our food once all our party arrived the starter was served, everyone said their starter was really good, our main quickly followed, a bit too quickly it would have been nice for a gap, however the food again perfect, loads of veggies, after a break (which we asked for) our desserts arrived and topped off a lovely dinner. Only criticism is the wine choice not great, but we still managed to drink 4 bottles! Staff were great throughout. We were told on a Tuesday they have a steak night 2 steaks and a bottle of wine £25 we will definitely give this a go.

The service was excellent the food was absolutely lovely and the beer was just right. Unfortunately I had not been well most of the holiday so did not stay for the sweets etc. My family did nothing but say how beautiful the food was cooked

We had already tried a previous Tuesday's offer of 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £25, which was excellent value for money. This proved equally good - great service from Andrew the 'hands-on' manager and the young server. The sirloin steaks were, again, cooked to perfection and the quality rose wine arrived nicely chilled. The constant buzz of conversation added to the atmosphere. Looking around, other guests were clearly enjoying their meals and, from the comments we couldn't help overhearing, were impressed by their overall experience. Highly recommended.

Place is clean and tidy. Food is awful. Had Festive meal of starter and main. Starter of nachos meant to have pulled turkey and bacon. Needed microscope to find it. Main of Xmas dinner was terrible. All the veg was way over cooked and soggy. Yorkshire pud needed hammer and chisel, roast pots under cooked, stuffing ball absolutely tasteless and I don't think you can get a smaller pig in blanket. £45 down the drain.

We were here for a family wedding and booked in for two nights. We arrived late afternoon and were shown to our room (called Botany) via a back staircase which was in urgent need of a vacuum cleaner. Halfway up there was an emergency door leading to the back yard of the pub which was wide open letting cold air in. At the top of the staircase was an office door which was wide open revealing what can only be described as chaos. On entering the room things were much cleaner and the room was quite acceptable although a little dark with all the old furnishings. The bathroom was well fitted and very bright with a bath and walk-in shower. We were then told that the only exit at night after closing time was via the back door as the pub was locked and unmanned which we found rather disconcerting as did other guests in the next room. We had arranged a meal in the pub with family that evening and everything was perfect, food, service and restaurant were very good, so that gave us a good feeling for the breakfast offering. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Breakfast is extremely poor, held in a tiny room upstairs where there are three very small tables and a kitchen set-up. You serve yourself with everything except a pre-ordered hot breakfast at your designated time, which was a big disappointment with sausages that tasted off and bacon that was overcooked and hard. All toast and teas/coffees were self-serve. Certainly not the experience that was expected given the room rate of £120 per night! Surely it would be much better served in the restaurant?? We were vastly disappointed and declined breakfast the next morning leaving early. It must be said staff were all very polite and helpful, perhaps management need to take a closer look at their offering. The website says nothing about the strange breakfast arrangements or the fact that the establishment is unmanned at night. We will not be returning.
