Where to start really. I have, on and off been coming to the Grouse for over 20 years. The food and service has always been spot on. 5* no doubt. We have recently been to the Grouse on a few occasions and the service seems to have nosedived quite a lot. There seems to be a choice from the waiting staff (not sure if this is something management have told them to do) that when we have finished our drinks, nobody comes to ask if we want anymore. This has happened now the last two times we've been. Over 30 minutes go by and we have to ask. Clearance of the tables is extremely poor. New drinks came and they just left the old glasses. We had to clear them away again. There was a table of 7 of us, we only ordered a main each and we were waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes for the food to come. We would've ordered a dessert but we honestly didn't have the time in the end up. I could understand it been slow if the place was packed out like it usually is but it was relatively quiet while we were there. As the Grouse is very local to us, we will give it another go and hopefully the service can improve. My friend has told me this morning that they went a few weeks ago and experienced the same service, but the food was great. Thank you.

In the past the Sunday Roast here was awesome. Now it's less than average. Premium price for a distinctly poor meal. An absence of staff, a slow service, cold environment, an absence of customers tell a story. As does cold plates, fatty, stringy beef. Sorry guys you are charging premium prices for a less than average product. Take note, the death knell is sounding.

Place barely a quarter full. Sunday roast was like a poor school dinner, right down to the scoop of lumpy mash - and everything was luke warm. Waiting staff poor, I had to call him back to ask for the sauces that we weren't offered. Roast pork with crackling had no crackle, just rubbery rind, pork was dry, brisket must be on ration. Don't go, if you have any other options!

Always come here on our trips to Bronte country and always been great food and good value for money but this time food was bland , over priced and reheated not fresh cooked . I had pie with was over reheated so sides wete rock hard , meat was very bland and soggy pastry , tiny few bullet peas . The roast again reheated was terrible , potatoes looked liked they wete days old , veg was all chucked over the plate everywhere. All food is way over priced , almost £20 for a slice of pie tiny few peas and chips . Such a shame as we would never return after coming here for years. Staff were very good and surroundings wete clean and comfortable.

I have been visiting this pub for quite some time now but our last visit was disappointing. We ordered the ribeye steak off the specials board and when it arrived, it was a very flat, thin piece of meat and very dry. Not worth the price of £24.95.

We visited with 3 children and would recommend this to anyone. It’s perfect for a friendly, relaxed, tasty, hearty meal. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional, the girls that served us were so naturally friendly, they were a breath of fresh air. The restaurant is big enough that you’re not on top of other tables. The kids loved the playground equipment and the goats in the garden, which left us to enjoy our drinks while they were entertained outside! The food was particularly good - the blooming onion, the tipsy chicken and fruit crumble were exceptionally tasty and really different. Excellent value for money. Oh, and the views!!!!! The perfect pub!

We walked across to the grouse from Oakworth for lunch it was a lovely day so we sat outside on lovely patio with stunning views,we both ordered tipsy chicken £30 which we have had many times before when it arrived if came on small plates and looked like child’s potions, the chicken was dry and tough with very little sauce and the chips were cremated and so hard you couldn’t get them on the fork without them breaking up , no one came to ask if our meal was okay so on the way out, we had the word with Manager and were told nobody had ever complained about the chips before With no apology whatsoever not very professional, overall we were very disappointed and shall not be returning for food again, unless they up there game a lot .

Visited grouse last Sunday and to say how disappointed we were, first arriving the young lady made it totally clear as we hadn’t booked we wouldn’t be priority and there was a long wait, we wasn’t in a hurry so we waited, the food well I ordered lasagna side salad, I got lasagna but a vegetarian one instead of meat and the salad was only lettuce and 1/2 tomatoes. My husband meal was meant to come with garlic mash but instead it was potato but nobody told when ordering. Don’t think we’ll be in a hurry to come back.

Drinks served and asked to pay again!!!! Advised already done so. Apologies after checking. FIFTY minutes later still no starters, enquired as to how long, checked, kitchen has no order for us. Demanded refund, not received at time of writing. We were in at 12:10, not busy at all only 3 tables occupied. Absolutely no excuse for such an appalling attempt at service.

The staff were absolutely amazing both friendly and helpful. The food itself was lovely (especially the berry cheescake). My only complaint would be potential wait time. Due to it being a summers day we would have been waiting what was described as a "long" period of time before we could order. The staff were completely polite about the situation and nothing but accommodating tho.

We requested a quiet table and were placed at a table for two tightly squeezed between two other tables so no privacy. Why do restaurants do that? To be fair they let us sit at another table. The starter (blooming onion with bacon and cheese) was way too salty and bereft of cheese. Our main arrived 1 hour and 45 minutes after taking up our table. After a long wait I had asked a young waitress if all was well, she said she'd go and find out, went into the kitchen then ignored us afterward. I asked a more mature waitress the same question and she said "I'll go and kick their a**es that was not the professional reply I was expecting. The mains were disappointing (possibly rushed in the end)....haddock with soggy batter on the inside. When asked what caused the delay the reply was "they had a big party on a another table". This was rubbish as other tables that arrived after us were served before us. They just screwed our order up and we didn't even get an apology.

I've been to this venue several times, each gradually has got worse. The most recent was for Mother's Day, and it was the absolute worst experience i've had at any pub. I originally booked 8 people for 1.30pm, they then changed this to 2pm - fine not a problem. We arrived 5 minutes before our booking, was told the table isn't ready and wait in the very small side bar area. We ordered drinks and were waiting there for a good 45 minutes before I asked what was happening with our table and booking. The manager apologised and said she would get our table sorted asap, but it was to be in the side bar waiting area. I was not impressed to say the least. Waited some more, still no one to come to us to clear the drinks or give us menus. I asked again and said this time I want a table in the main restaurant as per my booking. 1.5 hours passed our original booking by this point and we were all bored and fed up. Finally seated us, service was incredibly slow, food was average and the kids didn't eat theirs. The manager apologised many times and offered free deserts, which I had to ask for after ordering and waiting another 30 mins for some cake! All in all a very bad day and a ruined mothers day. Won't be returning sadly.

We arrived to be told there was no one booked in with our name. Then we were asked if it might be under a wrong name? How would we know. They decided maybe we were under a wrong name so we could go to a table. After waiting an eternity our food finally arrived. Steak heavily coated in salt, steak pie dry and tough, tipsy chicken cold, side salad was just a few leaves looking as though it was a rabbits left overs. Diet Pepsi sent back twice as flat and strange taste to first one. We could have sent the meals back but then would have had to wait another eternity and we were so hungry it was easier to leave it. No one even asked us if we had enjoyed our meal. Dessert order taken after we had to ask, we had waited 35 minutes after being given the dessert menus. We stopped visiting The Grouse due to the last time being of a poor standard but was told it had improved. Shame we listened. Yes we could have sent the meals back, but then we would have waited another eternity. Yes we could have argued the food wasn’t worth it but we understand you need to make a living. You said your chef did his best, maybe he did, but that isn’t helpful, it doesn’t change the poor service and food. In a nut shell, we won’t be back. Two chances were enough. Other people may have had better experiences it’s just a shame that a pub we used to go to a lot has really gone down hill in our eyes.

Went with friends on the way back from Newcastle. Booked a table for 6.30pm (Sunday) had been reviewing the website and the steak pie looked so appetising. Arrived and it was pretty quiet. Ordered starters,I got a soup, well when served was a purée, akin to baby footy and did not resemble soup at all. It was thick and bland. Our friends ordered the Sunday roast, neither ate the roast potatoes because they were too hard to cut through, they had obviously been either left in a warm oven, or reheated but were not edible. My husband and I went for the steak pie, chips and peas, it arrived and the whole of the bottom of the plates were covered in watery gravy, the meat in the pie had gone hard through reheating, it could not be eaten, neither of us ate the meat, I would suggest we would have lost teeth had we tried since we couldn’t even pierce the chunks of meat with forks. I am annoyed that I didn’t complain at the time, the bill was over £130 so it wasn’t cheap, but I didn’t want to embarrass our friends who had been in the past which is why they recommended the place. Sorry, but if you can not serve edible fresh food having had a reservation booked then you should have refused the reservation. We were the last to leave, the staff were all hanging around so they could leave too. On a different day and an earlier time, it could have been completely different but on this occasion it was not.

Have to be honest and say probably the worst meal, I've ever had out. Starters, ribs and chicken wings. Ribs absolutely terrible, dry and full of cartilage. Chicken wings okay, not hot and spicy but just a chicken wing at the end of the day. Corndog. Out of a 30cm hanging mess there was about 10cm of hot dog (yes the one you can find in a jar in a supermarket). Overcooked dry, was meant to come with bbq bacon cheese fries. Well I don't know where the chef put the bacon, not on the fries! To be quite honest I don't think it would have made it any better. Beef brisket. Slow cooked for what must have been 3 years. Not chewy but hardly american brisket. Alot of it but again no taste and bland. Very disappointed. £70 down the drain.

This place used to be our go to place for somewhere to eat. I don't know what's happened since the chef change but I won't be going back. An example is their Deep Fried Halloumi. A long time ago it used to be a nice big ball. Saw it return to the menu recently and was looking forward to it. Turned out to be 5 smallish chunks about half a thumb size if that over a bowl of salad. The burger and fries my partner had were no different to a standard pub. If we wanted a standard pub meal we would have stayed close to town and gone to a local Timothy Taylor as opposed to make the trip out to this place. The beers also didn't taste as crisp as they used to. It's a real shame to see it fall from grace like this.

The food here is exceptional for a pub. I had the roast pork Sunday lunch and every part of it was done to perfection. The pork was succulent and not dry like most Sunday roasts, with a rind of crackling along each slice. The mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious and the veg was fantastic. The views from this pub just enhance the experience. The only slight letdown was the customer service which I would describe as lacking and inattentive. Didn't receive the most friendly welcome at the door and was forgotten about when trying to order desserts and pay the bill.

I chose the pork fillet from the specials board, it sounded great, when it arrived it looked good, but was pretty tasteless, sauted potatoes were under cooked, no sign of any seasoning . My wife ordered tipsy chicken with mushroom sauce, chicken was dry, all she could taste was the mushroom sauce which tasted like cambells soup. We waited over an hour for the food and it wasnt busy. Complained but only got an acknowledgment and the customary - I am sorry about that. ruined a night out for my wife’s birthday and we both left within the hour extremely disappointed. Won’t be going back.

We have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere the professionalism the service the staff the food are all top notch and everyone should go and experience it. We loved it so much, we had our wedding reception there and we got so many compliments from our guests saying it was just perfect. Agi and Julie and all other staff treat you like family **** plus some.

No seating inside for just for drinks as all tables taken over by food. Had to sit outside in the cold and wet.

We had a large family gathering here two weeks ago for our twin daughters 50th birthday. Everyone said how much they had enjoyed the food. There was lots of choice and the service was really good and staff very helpful. We are so lucky, we live quite close to Haworth Moor but if you want to share our beautiful Yorkshire views then The Grouse is the place to come. Even in the rain, you won't be disappointed.

We haven't been back since it changed ownership, but a quick decision to eat and we thought of here. I have to start with how quick they got us in - that was impressive. Unfortunately, when we arrived, our table was at the edge of a wall, part hanging over the main route to the bar. There was also a large gathering, each and every one of them wacking my husband as they passed, and their greetings of each other were literally bottoms to our faces whilst trying to eat our meals. The menu hasn't changed much, but the quality has gone down. The service was not really on point - replacement drinks delivered but empty glasses remained. My husband stew arrived looking glorious. However, was far too salty. My tipsy chicken was a huge portion, but the chicken was tasteless and the sauce bland. My meal was simply warm. However, there was one random potato that was so hot, and it blistered the roof of my mouth. I do feel the new management need to pull up their socks

food not the best and not the worst, prices are ridiculous, was charged £6 for 2 cans of Barr lemonade and at Asda down the road i can purchase 24 cans for £7. Food wasnt the best, i wont be rushing to get back there too soon!

+ Walton View Hotel looks nice from outside and inside. + Food was outsourced from my Lahore for Asian wedding was very tasty + The service was quick and reliable - The overflow parking should be surfaced and parking bays made clear - lighting is required in overflow parking areas - the location of the stage should be in such a place that it can be seen from every seat in the dining hall.

Been hearing and seeing the food for far to long and wasn’t disappointed. Fabulous portions, fabulous fresh food, Yorkshire puddings like you only see on the telly. Congratulations to Simon, the chef and his staff. If there’s a better Sunday dinner locally or in the region, I’d like to go. Food at the right price and lovely mixed atmosphere of drinkers and dinners. Open fire roaring away. ….. is it Sunday yet.

Editing review as I thought this was about another place entirely. Fisherman's is an awesome pub. Love the location and the beer. No food was on when we went this time though. Great pub, can be understaffed a lot though and queue times can sometimes affect the experience.
