We ordered a Carvery, a starter, and the kebab main, and everything was absolutely beautiful! The food was delicious, and the kebab was especially nice. The service from Will at the carvery station was spot on – he was so polite and attentive, which made the experience even better. We had the carvery which was excellent, the beef melted in my mouth. The staff were attentive especially Mike and Nicola. We will definitely be back.

Me and my partner started coming for drinks whilst we were charging the car. After a while we started to get to know the staff who are all so lovely and welcoming. We have eaten a number of times and the food is lovely. Thank you to Chelsea, Joe and Nicola for their kindness and hospitality we now have a new local thank you

The website says it serves food to 9 pm, but I went to order food at the bar around 8 pm with the servers saying they have stopped food. I was very disappointed as the tables were also covered in dirty plates that needed to be removed

Came here with my mum for lunch we had the carvery we had to find a table without food that was left from previous customers it was very unpleasant to have to eat my food next to food that had been sat there for hours but had no other choice as there was no other clean tables available staff also stood behind the bar on their phones in plan view of customers I find this very unprofessional and also very upsetting as I loved coming here in the past but will not be coming again

Very unsatisfactory experience, food just edible and definitely overpriced, not worth what is charged, one member of the bar staff should not be dealing with customers, her attitude and approach was disgusting, plates practically thrown on the table, belittling one of her work colleagues in front of us, couldn't force a smile or polite remark to customers, very unprofessional and unapproachable, first and last visit for us.

Had the carvery, was very nice, good value. Excellent desert menu and both Sherry Trifle Cheesecake and Sticky Toffee Pudding exceeded expectations.

The young lady who served us has a problem with customer service and needs some training, she was like Jekal and Hyde

Me and my daughter came for a quick bite to eat after visiting the local soft play. We were greeted by friendly staff members and soon found a table. We ordered food via the QR code provided and it arrived quickly via another friendly staff member. The food was great and was just what we needed to carry on with our day! Would definitely recommend to friends and family

Love the new refurbishment brightens the place up nicely. Been coming here for years and the service is always friendly and done with a smile. The price of the food has gone up as everywhere else has but still good value for money and always tasty

Lovely meal hear today for my daughters birthday. The staff over heard us and even added a candle to her desert. The make over is lovely and the toilets are fab. Lovely couple of hours hear today. Great staff and service. We will be back soon

I had fish and chips the fish was well overcooked, and inedible, nobody came to ask if the food was alright. We won't be going there again.

Went for a carvery yesterday 17th Sep and was very disappointed looking at the carvery b4 I ordered.dried up new potatoes. Over cooked carrots.rock hard stuffing.manky roast potatoes.only decent thing meat.so ordered burger and chips.nice burger.with about 8 chips.what a waste of time. Won't go again

Absolutely fantastic service - full breakfast wasn’t being served and my friend really wanted one. The manager came over did great table service and said he could have a full breakfast! Will definitely be back 😊

Overall our experience was very disappointing. Upon arrival there was no-one to greet us and we were just left hanging around. When we were eventually shown to our table, we were dismayed to find not even a paper table-cloth, and the crackers were unacceptable. The table was tacky to the touch. We fully appreciate how busy staff are and under pressure, however the table staff did not smile once and we felt that we were asking a huge favour, just to order drinks. An exception to this, were the 2 staff on the carvery (red chef coat and dicky bow) who were friendly and efficient. The food was below standard, roast potatoes and pigs in blankets were barely cooked. As a family we used to come to the Hitchin Post regularly and we were expecting a special Christmas experience but this did not happen. We will not be coming again or recommending. (Table 3, 14.30, Lingley).

Came here for Christmas dinner, it took us 30 mins to be sat down. Another 30 mins to get starters. Half the calvery wasnt there and we have now been waiting for an hour for puddings. You expect delays because its Christmas and busy but when you see other tables being served quicker than yours it gets ridiculous. Its so quiet normally and staff are nice but at Christmas it goes to pot.

Came here for Christmas. Terrible service. The service staff made us feel like an inconvenience when asking for the smallest thing. They were huffing about and clearly didn't want to be there. Wait times were terrible for everything. Ruined the atmosphere and our time. Table next to us were waiting ages and they didn't clear their table that was full after starters etc. Clearly needed more staffing.

Two of us have previously enjoyed meals here and thought it would be nice for our xmas get together. We ordered the festive meals. We were all in agreement the carvery should have been alot warmer!! Pork was a particular choice but told it is only offered on Sundays even though it was on the menu. One of our deserts was hard and inedible. Two of our party urgently needed a couple of visits to the toilet while there, they both had prawn cocktail so not sure if this was the cause. All in all we were all left disappointed.

Had our Xmas dinner here again. Food was good but service could have been better.

We had our works Christmas lunch at the Hitching Post and everyone thought the food was lovely. The service was great too and Emily, Nicola, Jamie and Mike looked after us and made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and we all had a great time.

We ordered our food and drink via the table service qr code our wait time was OK wasn't too long food was good at a fair price the only negative is there is no alcohol free beer on draught and is expensive in the bottle

Family meal. We booked a table for 12 people when we arrived we were given two tables not ideal. We sat down and ordered food after 15 minutes. Nearly an hour after we had arrived we had to go to the bar to ask where are food was. The staff then brought the food out, a lot of the food was cold having been left on the so called hot plate for a while. The carvery was great plentiful but I wonder why when there was only a teaspoon full of cauliflower left did they wait to replenish it. Finally we had a gift card that no one could work out how to use so we had to pay the full balance

I booked the table on line for 4 adults.in the additional info notes I said we needed 1 high chair. When I arrived the table has 3 chairs plus a highchair. When I said it was for 4 adults I was told something along the lines on " love it when people book tables wrong" I immediately explained how I booked online and was told " we see that as 3 adult's and 1 high chair, next time add 5 adults. Firstly this should never be a response to a customer query re a missing seat. Secondly how in earth can a 4 adults plus additional high chair booking even be considered as that's a table for 3 adults and a high chair?! Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. My feedback for your member of staff is do not say the first thing that comes into your head, take a minute and say "No problem will get you another chair." No need to even say what she did was godsmacked if i am honest. Feedback for bookings made on line, add something that allows customer to books adults, children and high chairs. Very poor service from this member of staff. As for the food it was average nothing stood out, did not have all 4 meats due to beef and turkey looking like they were cooked the week before. I do not normally leave bad reviews but this needed to be said. A very unforgettable experience and not for a good reason

Cracking place with a decent food selection my partner said the beef was the best beef she’s ever had , I got a burger that was great . Desert of a chocolate fudge cake was excellent too.

The carvery was lovely, food was really tasty and they had a great selection. Staff were friendly and welcoming, especially the server behind the carvery counter, Chelsea and Emily-Jo. They also do defence discount which is an added bonus!

Only been couple of times came last night food was ok but could have done with few more chips on both meals bit sparse i got veg from carvery carrots were dry asked and payed for y pudding but didnt get one my pie chick and mushrooms were very nice and the mix grill was nice the place could do with good clean seats dirty carpet had food on it the toilet door needs painting nice outside with tables trees flowers i will come bck but needs a good clean inside staff very friendly...

I booked online, I made an error and tried to rectify it so when we arrived it was a table for 2 instead of 3 😁. However the staff were great, even though you were very very busy, made a table available so 3 of us could be seated, thank you so much. Food was great as usual, even though it was a full house the service was amazing, no long waiting times. Thank you for a warm welcome and great food.

La señora sería extremadamente beneficioso de una buena formación de servicio al cliente. La hora era alrededor de las 3. 30 pm.

We always go to the Hitching Post for our family meals because we are always very welcomed, looked after and the food is lovely!

They offer the usual pub food menu but have a great carvery offering. Usual meat with good selection of veg. Very popular.

We have been going to the Hitching Post for over a year every few weeks as I visit from Coventry to my parents. The carvery is always a high standard and never disappoints and the staff are always friendly and attentive

When we came in we were greeted and served immediately by both members of staff behind the bar. Chelsea saw my wife and was immediately ready to give her her preferred drink, which pleased my wife greatly. Service with a smile!

As always the service was excellent and the food of good quality, we are always made welcome and would highly recommend.

Went this week the food was cold the Yorkshire pudding were still frozen complained the staff who apologised Went and got fresh ones from the kitchen and yes still frozen the food isn't changed between quiet times no thanks 👎

Family lunch outing. Arrived before noon, so ordered drinks & carvery. Waited till noon with other customers to be served. All the meat Turkey, Beef, Gammon were moist and tasty. Veg fresh. Wonderful meal.

Pint flat didn't taste right took it back they pored it into another glass and topped it up a bit

Service at the bar was slow. Went to sit back at the table, to order on the app. Food was lovely. But on the app when ordered lasagne. It says chips or salad. On the actual menu it says lasagne with salad and garlic bread. Can change salad for chips. The food arrived with salad, no garlic bread. The app needs updating. I told a member of staff who was very helpful, and offered to get us some garlic bread. But the food had been eaten.

My go-to for a pub dinner with the Mrs.

If you want a midweek carvery or just honest good pub grub, then you can't go wrong. Also, a good outdoor seated area out back. The usual drinks are on offer but if you're a real ale fan, don't bother they don't serve enough to risk it sadly.

Staff friendly and helpful. Pub was pretty quiet and lots of tables free. Burger and chips were enjoyed by Hubble. I had carvery but probably due to lack of customers the meat and some of the sides/vegetables may have been sat for a while or brought out day after day. This may be rectified by only having carvery in popular days as a solution? Banoffee cheesecake tasted just like chocolate tart…not very banana like at all. But it was presented well.

This was my first visit today, and I was pleasantly pleased, the service was excellent, the food was spot on, and the waitresses were profesional & attentive, I'll definitely be eating here again, perhaps outside next time, as it was such a nice day !

I had my 40th birthday party .here .from booking to the end of the evening Michael and his staff we very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Promptly served all our guests commented on the food it was very enjoyable evening. We cleared the room of our things .booked a taxi whitch failed to arrive. Your helpful staff rang a taxi for us it was there in minutes to pick us up .we regularly visit for meals with friends and my partner its very good value and great service. Thankyou for a lovely evening

Booked a table for 11 food came within a reasonable time as the place was very busy, food was really nice, will be returning again in the future
