Barmaid wanted £36. I said, "£36 for two puddings and a pint and a half?" She immediately reconsidered. "It's £29.50.". She printed me a receipt and said, "You asked for extra custard. Life isn't free, sir." I had indeed asked for extra custard, for which I had only been charged a pound. But obviously, people who query bar bills in the Lakes are regarded as the lowest form of scroungers.

We are camping at Baysbrown Campsite tonight and came to the pub for some tea. The food was lovely! Just what we needed. Rachel was an absolute superstar! Great service from her ⭐️

Such a lovely pub. The staff and manager were very accommodating and attentive. It's was very busy and our food arrived quickly and tasted fantastic We will definitely return here when we visit the lake district next year. Thank you

I visited with family in a group of 7. We were served by George the barman who was very friendly and chatty. He gave me samples of three drinks before I decided on my favourite. Excellent customer service which made for a very pleasant visit. If only they could bottle what George has and give it to other establishments!

Fantasise atmosphere in a beautiful setting. All staff wore great, however Trevor stood out particularly as he made sure everyone was looked after in every way right up until closing time. Great pub and great staff :) thanks Trevor!

Great Sunday roast (beef) & a good varied menu. Friendly staff & seating outside (covered for some of it) & indoors. Easily walkable from the local campsite or a Riverside walk. They have a quiz night on Wednesday at 9pm & ask for a cash collection as an entry fee & this goes towards local charities. A great pub

The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. I had the soup of the day which was tomato and red pepper. It hit the spot just right! I will definitely be returning here again, we were made to feel very welcome.

Visited this pub at lunchtime, unsure of whether or not we were just having drinks or food and drinks. However, we had barely got through the door before we were greeted, rather rudely I might add, by "Food and Drink" , not even welcome or hello. Needless to say, we were not impressed at all but decided to initially just order a drink. My partner was going to pay with cash but was almost shouted at "CARD ONLY". This was the final straw for us and decided to leave without any drinks. We will not ever return here as there are far better places than this with staff who are genuinely happy to greet you with a pleasant smile regardless of what you are ordering. We had a lovely lunch elsewhere. The owners of Wainwrights need to look at their staff and find out what is going wrong.

Both the vegetarian dishes were awful. They were tasteless and very poor value for money. The bean chilli was mostly rice. I complained but they weren't interested.

Joe went above and beyond with his customer service. As I arrived he asked how I was and how was my day. I ordered a drink and wanted to pay with cash, unfortunately it is card only. Joe then proceeded to pay with his card and I gave him the cash. What a credit he is to himself and the company..**** stars.. Thank you Joe I will be back. Caroline

I have been visiting here for many years now and can honestly say I have never found any of the staff rude in any way at all - in fact they couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The food has always been excellent and Quiz Night on a Wednesday is a great night with all money raised donated to a worthy cause. In a beautiful part of the county - the views are absolutely spectacular and it is so peaceful and tranquil.

Love visiting here when in the area. The food, drink and service has always been very good, even on a rainy day in the Lake District. My only small gripe is that it’s a little bit expensive. £20 for a pie and chips isn’t the best value out there despite the fact it’s really enjoyable. Will certainly be returning soon.

Some lovely ale on tap but the food is hugely overpriced for what you get. Friendly staff but one of the staff behind the bar was literally coughing and sneezing all over the place- not pleasant!

Food was not great. Ordered Lasagne, got burnt garlic bread with it. Fries was ordered. Received burnt fries. Wasn’t not a great experience. Everything had to be order at the bar. Not a great place. No check backs was given. Was too late to mentioned it to the staff apparently when she cleared our table because we should have mentioned it when we received the food. Will not visit again in the future.
