I am not one to make reviews normally but I can’t not with this one. I can’t comment on the rooms as I only dined here and I have to say it was the worst experience I’ve ever had when dining out. When you walk in the staff do not welcome you and stand in a group at the end of the bar the whole time looking people up and down when they walk in. The chef spends more time standing round the bar than he does in the kitchen. We went and sat down at our table and the first thing that struck me was the paper menus stuck together with stables with food marks all over them, then you go to pick them up and you can’t because they’re stuck to the tables. The tables were that sticky that my sleeves were sticking to it if I rested my arms on it and the napkins were also stuck down. We ordered from the specials menu were they offer 3 courses for £16.50 which from the outlook seems like a really good deal… until you taste the food. We ordered fish cakes at first but were then told they had none left which is understandable at times, we know things can run out. So instead we ordered the soup, which was fresh out of the microwave causing the people who ate it to burn their lips/mouths to the point of blistering on one of their lips. We also ordered a prawn cocktail, I ate one mouthful and had to stop with the over powering fishy smell and taste, they tasted off. Next we got curry and the cod, the cod was okay. The curry tasted like it was from a jar with awful shop bought naan breads, the chicken was like rubber because of how over cooked it was, again only ate a few mouthfuls and had to stop. It didn’t get any better with the puddings.. Belgium waffle was straight out of a packet and the sticky toffee pudding was so dry with the tiniest bit of custard. On top of all of this the service was awful and had the audacity to put a 10% service charge on the bill. Yes we told them when we were there, this is just to warn others to not waste your time or money.

Won’t be going back! Strange rules around eating birthday cake, that didn’t go down too well. No eating birthday cake in here after your meal. Yep, that’s right 9 people went here for a birthday meal. We spent a fair amount of money on meals and some starters. After the mea, the staff were kind enough to bring the cake out and we sang happy birthday. But they told us we could not cut it the cake or eat it. It had to go back in the box! They would not bring plates or cutlery. I don’t understand, it must be a management decision. I’d understand maybe if we had shared a bowl of chips and not spent much, but we had spent a lot of money. They did say we could eat it in the car park! Not sure how we would cut and eat it in the car park on a mid-September evening. The food was alright. Maybe not worth the £18-20 per meal. One our out party got the fish and didn’t enjoy it. The rest were ok. Lastly, we had a few children who completed the colouring competition on the kids menu. When I handed them in, the staff said “Have they put their emails on them?”. “No, they are only 5 years of age”. Turns out that they draw the winner at the end of the month for the grand prize of a £2.50 kids ice cream. I bought the ice cream instead and asked if they could bring it over and present it to one of the children. They said they could not do this either, as it wouldn’t be fair on the other 2 kids. The rules were all a bit strange and I won’t be eating there again. As a positive, beer garden is lovely and it is a wonderfully location.

We booked this inn to facilitate a visit to Cheshire Oaks and it did the job brilliantly. The Inn is in the tiny village of Willaston and, on a warm and sunny afternoon, we saw it at its best. There are only four guest rooms at this Inn and ours was perfectly comfortable and had everything that we needed. The bed was extremely comfortable and the darkness and quiet allowed us a good night's sleep. It's an inn rather than a mega-chain budget hotel so everything is a bit 'quaint' but, as a place to stay, it does the job admirably. I have some mobility problems so, for me, the only drawback was that I had to lug a case up a very steep and narrow staircase to get to our room, but I've stayed at inns before and so expected that. The Inn itself is lovely and everything that a country inn should be. The beer garden is spectacularly lovely and, as we arrived mid-afternoon on the only warm and sunny day this summer (it seems), sitting out there and enjoying a leisurely drink was bliss. The staff were all lovely and treated us well. On weekdays, there is only a continental breakfast available but we also had toast too and it was fine for us. We ate in the restaurant in the evening; a mixed event as my wife declared her fish and chips to be among the best ever while my Rogan Josh curry was awful. I like staying in country inns as they offer more 'interest' than a budget hotel and the Pollards Inn certainly didn't disappoint. At £85.60 per night, I consider this to be excellent value. We loved Cheshire Oaks and are certain to visit again and I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Pollards Inn then too.

Having read the reviews, we were looking forward to staying here,we were really disappointed. The rooms had no air conditioning or fans, leaving the window open subjected you to a lot of noise from the beer garden outside. The room itself was quite tired and there was a considerable amount of black mould in the bathroom. Two days running there was no hot water.Breakfast was served in the conservatory, there was very limited choice and the tables were very sticky. We very left feeling very saddened as we had high hopes and expectations from other reviews

Ordered 3 main meals Fish and Chips. Fish no problem but the chips were either freezer burnt or over microwaved to warm up as they were tough??? Vegan Pizza returned to heat up again as the dough base was soggy/undercooked. This they replace entirely. I pointed out the chips( which I’d left) were tough freezer burnt or over microwaved. To which I got an “Oh sorry” We were offered 1 free dessert for the Pizza but we declined.

Beautiful pub and location. Sunday beef roast was ok, but the stuffing and pigs in blankets sides were disappointing. Confusion over gluten free options, cleared up by a more experienced waitress (thank you) and they had options for desert that were GF too, although the menu didn’t indicate they were. Annoying bell went off repeatedly which must be to summon the waitresses, but that’s probably were we sat and my biggest frustration was the wine, which was 25 quid for something I could have got from the supermarket for 7. Would go back for a drink, but not so sure we would revisit for food. Pleasant staff.

When we walked into the bar area, we were met by staff staggering two birthday cake reveals, nicely timed so that each cake entrance had the desired effect for both separate parties. This was achieved by the very attentive staff. The service we had from the staff carried on throughout the night for us personally. We'd booked a table in the private room as there were 10 gents for dinner. The room is very comfortable, well decorated and has a very intimate vibe and is great for special occasions. We had pre ordered our meals to support the kitchen staff and it all came out promptly and was delicious. I had fishcakes to start, and Kiev for main, which came with Chips and side salad; very nice. Staff were lovely, and very attentive, really enjoyable night, in great surroundings. If you've never been to Pollards, check out the website for special events especially beer festivals, live bands and the garden, which is gorgeous. Children's play area being very close to the Wirral Way, lovely stop of after a walk, and dog friendly.

When walking up the Wirral way towards Neston from Hooton this place is the nearest pub at lunchtime. The original building must be a few centuries old, but from the sign it says opened in 1983. It's well hidden off the main road through Willaston. If you're coming by car there's quite a big carpark. You have the option of eating inside or outside, but the conservatory is the best place for me. I tried out the chicken and chorizo Linguine for lunch and it was very enjoyable, would recommend it. Service was good and fairly quick. They have a reasonable range of beers and ales. The beer garden is nice place to spend an afternoon and has its own bar in the Summer.

This happened again at 06.30 (possibly on their return?) After the 3rd time at 07.15, we gave up on sleep. Dogs shouldn't be allowed free-range of the landing so early in the morning. How does this place remain a going concern? Been going to the Boxing day Morris dancing on the green for over 20 years and there would always be a welcome for the participants back at the Pollards with food, good beers and a full house....until recently. The last 5 years have been an utter shambles. So much so that people just go home after the Morris because there is no incentive to go to the pub. This year sums it up perfectly. There was the usual queue at the bar but rather than being prepared for this, and have staff work efficiently, the service was slow, the choice of real ale poor and the hot drinks stopped serving after 10 minutes of being there!!!!! I saw people just go home rather than wait any longer in an increasingly frustrating queue. This was the final straw for the last few of us who did go to the pub after the show. We won't be bothering again.

Told even if you have a wedding there and provide your own cake, You CANNOT eat it???? This I was told is in case of allergies? The cake was boxed from M&S? This is after one guest asked what was in the sauce with the lamb, not told and when meal arrived and asked again it contained nuts??? Makes the cake ban rather ridiculous!! We won’t return, there are lots of great restaurants on the Wirral to choose from and who would want a cake ban at their wedding?

Not visited for a few years and will be a few more now until we try again. Visited for a family meal with kids, they have a lovely kids play area and we happily settled down in the lovey beer garden to wait for our food. It was a quiet night and we waited ages for 2 kids meals (which they enjoyed) and 2 burgers which were £16 each, one was alright (but not £16 worth) but the other was dry and overcooked. We would have complained but bar was rammed and we just left feeling a bit deflated and naffed off. It was 6:30pm and there was a shattered wine glass on the raised kerb next to where we parked and didn’t notice it until one of the kids nearly ran through it getting into the car.

The food has gone so bad here, on sight both meals look beautiful, but as soon as you start eating you understand why there is noise of the place going down hill, I had beef and black bean with noodles, the noodles were under cooked and the beef was sooooo chewy my jaw is aching from it, and my daughter had fish and chips, which might as well just been batter, it was awful, safe to say we won’t return for food, I’m not big on reviews as they can be false after just one visit, but this is the third time in a row the food has been nowhere near the standard it should be especially for the price they charge. If they can’t even cook noodles I dread to think what the other meals are like.

Have ordered from here ( delivery )for months now and food always been delicious however the past two orders have been very disappointing ( both fish ) the batter on the fish was very overcooked . Maybe new staff but not up to their usual very high standards. Will continue to order for now but if this happens again will be going elsewhere

We stumbled upon this pub during a day out and decided to pop in for lunch. Surprisingly, it was quite empty, which is baffling given how tasty the food was! We opted for the tapas, and every dish was delicious. The staff were really friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. I would recommend this place based on my visit.

Decent pint of Guinness. Some cask ales on tap too. Long bar with lots of tables and good quality TV screens. Great place to watch the footy. Decent music too. 5 stars for me.
