We came here as a family about 3 years ago and to be honest the food was poor and some of the attitudes staff was poor but today our daughter wanted a roast and so we thought we would give it a try it's had a much needed uplift in decor and the staff were amazing with my daughter who has a milk allergy, John and team took the time to make sure everything was milk free and even offered to make extra things without milk like cauliflower without cheese, the food was hot and lovely and the atmosphere was great, staff were friendly and will absolutely be back!

Had an enjoyable lunch in the week. Food fresh. Staff pleasant as always.

Very busy on a Sunday, but still managed to get a table around 6pm without reservation. Can't speak for the rest of the menu, but the carvery/Sunday roast was good, the waiters friendly and helpful, and the man doing the carving was friendly and efficient.

Absolutely the best beef around, don't know how they do it but it was amazing, lovely staff very welcoming an a all round homely vibe, lovely food.

We went for breakfast on Sunday and were charged the rate for full breakfast - unfortunately when we went to the self service there was hardly anything left - ended up with bacon and egg and toast so certainly not worth the money. Bar staff you need to make people aware it is coming to the end and not charge the full price.

Just had a lovely evening at The Old Quay. The food was fab (Philly Burger and Carvery) but it was the staff that made the night. A huge shout out to JP who was EXTREMELY tolerant of my lack of technical ability with app. All good fun and we felt very well looked after.

Friday morning decided to meet up and have a chat with guys so glad we picked the old quay the speedy service and gorgeous pizzas was amazing thanks guys

The old quay never disappoints the food is amazing and the staff always friendly and welcoming, there is plenty to choose from on the menu which is amazing for my family as we all have different meals and the waffle sundaes are delicious thanks again guys we will definitely be returning

Fantastic service and care from Tilly tonight. She was really happy to greet us and made sure we had an enjoyable visit. The only criticism was the carvery meat carver was again creating a mess of carving, and all three plates ended up with fragments of a cut. It's a shame as we have stayed away because of this, and there's been no change.

Jonh was wonderful he went above and beyond, couldn't for better serve and help

I live in Parkgate and this is my local. Very friendly staff and great views over the estuary. I would highly recommend a visit and sit on the outside patio to take in the view and enjoy one of the best places on the Wirral.

Very helpful staff, particularly Tilly, who checked on whether we were enjoying our food and poured our drinks out for us. Lovely carvery, happy to see sprouts were back!

Brilliant Sunday breakfast at carvery bar help yourself all hot lots of choice.can make yourself hot toast .refill on tea or coffee great value best breakfast will be going again large party of us all impressed!

From start to finish everything was amazing. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly. Going above and beyond with their service. Didn’t get everyone’s name but JP and Mandy were exceptional. Great evening had by all. I would highly recommend this place.

We all had a carvery, will never come back again awful food! Nothing fresh out all been sat under the heater all day mash all crusty and dry, roasters rock hard a man infront asked for new ones they were that bad, the amount of meat they give you wouldn’t even fill a toddler. Yorkshire puddings stale nothing out is fresh absolutely shocking used to be lovely, gone down hill such a shame. Not the first time this has happened thought the first time was a one off but clearly not.

Probably the worst carvery I’ve ever had , most of the veg was empty and what was left was nearly black , roast potatoes where rock hard , very little meat , server didn’t k ow how to carve a piece of meat and didn’t let me have the pigs in blankets even thou we paid for the works . All in all a bloody awful experience

Sunday Carvery Mandy was superb, friendly and approachable Guys serving at the Carvery were polite Bar service was slow due to high volume of customers. Allergy questionnaire completed before ordering. Recommend more staff to cope with the influx of people Manager on duty was very helpful with questions asked Overall bill £200

We went for evening dinner, a bit of a last minute booking. We were seated in a nice area and were well looked after both ordering at the bar and by Angela at the table. A couple of carveries for the adults and pizza for the kids. All good, though the carvery meat portions could be a little more generous. All very tasty.

One of the worst dining experiences ever. Staff clearly want to be elsewhere. Obviously influenced by the fact you have to pay in advance so they are not working for tips but even so I’ve never encountered such rude unhelpful staff.

Got in for breakfast at 11.15 charge full price went to get it no black pudding no bacon and one egg left when asked why I got charged full price for half of what there should be lwas told they will refund me and only charge for a kids meal that never happened last time I go in no apology or nothing

The location looking over to Wales is perfect and it has a nice size car park (enter reg at the bar so you don't get a ticket). Walking in it was clean and felt warm and cosy, it was not busy so although we had booked for 6pm we could choose where to sit 😀 . Food was fast and very hot. My wife and I had a 2 course meal. Although I took some photos I got carried away eating it before snapping all photos, it was very nice, clean plates and cutlery and napkins on hand. One menu was very sticky but the tables and seats where fine. Our wait time for food was approx 15 minutes and was very hot. All the staff were polite and happy to help. Tackout box for my left overs was a nice surprise would definitely recommend to anyone as we had such a nice experience and we will be back 😀

really nice destination carvey at parkgate, quite a large car park (just remember to validate your parking by entering your reg into the machine at the bar). There's a broad range of food and drinks, the carvey was a good price, the only negative was our roasties and yorkie puds were a bit dried out, serious need of gravy to bring them back to life, it was clean and it looks like we came near the end of the busy period as there were alot of people still there no one was queing for the carvey yet all the meat looked fresh and the addons were all well stocked including the gravy. one of the nice features of the Quay is its located at the end of the front and there's a really nice view of Dee estuary marshes and Wales, you can sit out on the large patio the price was good and the atmosphere faily chilled, the staff were polite and friendly, 4.5 out of 5

Amazing staff, so friendly, we were put on a table with a lovely view! Staff were knowledgeable about every item we asked about. Very laid back atmosphere. Really clean toilets and excellent for parking. Well worth the drive up from Wrexham, originally found by accident but we are frequent visitors now.

The food and service was just ok. We went for a family meal out. 14yr old struggled to find something on the menu she wanted to eat, and didn't cost a fortune. I ordered a pie, and was so dissappointed that it was stew in a pot with a pastry cover. That's the reason for the mediocre score. I thought we'd left fake pies in the past? Lovely location. Nice folk - mostly students - waiting on. So not horrendous. But we wouldn't make the effort to drive here again.

The food was look warm & some not cooked & hard, Also there is a strange smell in the building, like a damp,mold smell, we Will not go bk, total waste of money....

Visited today to catch up with an old friend, service was spot on. Terri the manager was lovely getting me alternative milks ect catering for my intolerances wasn't a problem at all here. I must say my favourite part of the meal was the beef, it was cooked to perfection and tasted beautiful 😙👌 will definitely be returning 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5 stars from me 😁👍

Booked a table for 6.40pm on a Sunday evening! Expected to be reasonably busy which shouldn’t be a problem. The only meat left was beef. No turkey, Gammon or pork. We asked for a sausage instead which the chef reluctantly gave as he stated they are only for large dinners. Considering they have no meat and no discount was applied to meals you would think they would be more accommodating. When it came round to actually getting the dinner the chef carving the beef gave mostly fatty pieces and scraps from round the edge that had fallen off. This is not the first time I have visited when the restaurant has ran out of meat on a Sunday and clearly they are not taking measures to ensure it doesn’t happen again. I also ordered my daughter chicken dippers which were very dry and looked as they had been cooked hours before hand. I don’t plan on returning soon.

Fab carvery and the ice cream bubble waffle is definitely worth trying! Cheers to George for being our waiter.

We waited over an hour for food that they had made and left sitting in the warmer area went in and the server was chatting, the restaurant was not busy at all and when we got the food the salad was warm and lettuce wilted, my mothers sandwich had hard bread and roast potatoes that looked and had the texture similar to being burnt in an incinerator. When we went to complain they offered to make it again and yet again waiting because the waitress was too busy batting her eyelashes at the one making pizza and all the same issues, asked for a refund in the end attitude of the staff was appalling. Truly terrible experience and the manager did not help at all around this begrudgingly gave a refund.

We went for a bank holiday roast and I have to say given how busy it was we really enjoyed it .. staff did amazing considering how busy it was! Would definitely recommend

Just came for some lunch with our dogs and the food was amazing. Lovely atmosphere and the staff were so attentive, especially Mandy, she is a credit and we will definitely be back! Thank you for a lovely lunch :)

Arrived around 7:30 carvery only had beef which was fine most veg was empty the colleague serving filled up most things my issues were the meat was badly cut which meant you didn’t get very much it was all scraps the meat was chewy the roast potato’s were rock hard even after sitting in the gravy.The person who looked like the manager was raising her voice to staff in full view of the customers which I felt was very unprofessional no staff member looked happy not a pleasant atmosphere at all will not be returning

Took my son and girlfriend for a treat. Shouldn't have bothered.took 5 mins for server to come to counter to cut the meat. The roast potatoes where rock hard, the meat (turkey and gammon) was sloppy fatty and undercooked..the Yorkshire puddings where like brittle biscuits.and just to top it off the gravy was empty, and when replaced was like water and no taste. Also the server looked like he had just been to a funeral, we felt utterly in the way..NEVER AGAIN..

Poor selection of vegetables for a carvery. There was no broccoli or cauliflower cheese, no cabbage or swede - just watery leeks! The stuffing was delayed so we had all nearly finished by the time it came out. The gravy was also delayed. You would think this would be their bread and butter on a Sunday. It wasn't busy and it is clear why. Would not return.

Went today for Sunday roast the meat was really nice but the cabbage was mixed with something else and tasted awful. Carrots beans and corn were ok. The roast potatoes were absolutely awful they were rock hard and really hard to cut with no potato inside honestly the ones that were on the counter for you to take should have been put in a bin. Ate what we could and left. Don’t think be going there again.

Dan served us at the bar, really polite guy. They had ran out of veggie sausages, but he sorted it out for me. No hassle. Deffo be back again. Nice clean pub too!

Food AWFUL, cold even after microwaving. ( not a good example food hygiene). Manager dealt with problem very well, an exemplary chap.
