The old quay never disappoints the food is amazing and the staff always friendly and welcoming, there is plenty to choose from on the menu which is amazing for my family as we all have different meals and the waffle sundaes are delicious thanks again guys we will definitely be returning

Friday morning decided to meet up and have a chat with guys so glad we picked the old quay the speedy service and gorgeous pizzas was amazing thanks guys

We all had a carvery, will never come back again awful food! Nothing fresh out all been sat under the heater all day mash all crusty and dry, roasters rock hard a man infront asked for new ones they were that bad, the amount of meat they give you wouldn’t even fill a toddler. Yorkshire puddings stale nothing out is fresh absolutely shocking used to be lovely, gone down hill such a shame. Not the first time this has happened thought the first time was a one off but clearly not.

Probably the worst carvery I’ve ever had , most of the veg was empty and what was left was nearly black , roast potatoes where rock hard , very little meat , server didn’t k ow how to carve a piece of meat and didn’t let me have the pigs in blankets even thou we paid for the works . All in all a bloody awful experience

Went today for Sunday roast the meat was really nice but the cabbage was mixed with something else and tasted awful. Carrots beans and corn were ok. The roast potatoes were absolutely awful they were rock hard and really hard to cut with no potato inside honestly the ones that were on the counter for you to take should have been put in a bin. Ate what we could and left. Don’t think be going there again.

Dan served us at the bar, really polite guy. They had ran out of veggie sausages, but he sorted it out for me. No hassle. Deffo be back again. Nice clean pub too!

Food AWFUL, cold even after microwaving. ( not a good example food hygiene). Manager dealt with problem very well, an exemplary chap.

Enjoyed our visit as a family but was disappointed with the variety of vegetables available, as per our previous visits. Obviously I understand the amount and variety varies on stock availability and if it a busy day or not but we have visited on a Saturday before and never experienced this. Other than that the food was to a good standard apart from the roast potatoes which were rock hard and lacked their usual fluffiness, which was not to my families taste. Overall, 8/10, an enjoyable family visit and we will still return again.

Booked The Old Quay, Parkgate on Sunday 4th August to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Cauvery was delicious. We were served by Millie who was extremely helpful and polite. Will definitely book again.

It was honestly the worst meal I have had in a long time. There was 6 of us having dinner, 5 of which had the carvery and one had the pizza. The roast potatoes tasted stale and were overcooked. Tasted like they were leftovers from day before that had been heated up, mashed potato was lumpy, unseasoned and had lots of bad black bits in where they had not cut out the bad bits of the potatoes, veg was soggy and overcooked, the only thing that tasted ok was the meat. We were told there was an 20minute wait for my husbands pizza. Over an hour later once the rest of us had finished our meals, his pizza still hadn’t arrived. I went over to ask about it, and they hadn’t printed a ticket for his meal so he would have been waiting all night. I then had to prove that I had in fact ordered a pizza, and then they eventually made it for us. We had to cancel the desert as it was too late. The waitress when she eventually brought over the meal just said Soz about it being late. No compensation, no offer of free drink for inconvenience nothing. We have visited the old quay regularly, probably twice a month for quite a while. Based on this very poor experience we will not be returning.

Very small amount of meat and some was fatty, roast potatoes as hard as a rock, cauliflower cheese hard, tried 8 salt and pepper pots before we found any that worked. Left most of it. Never again

Giving 5 stars for Callum the Carver having to work 8 hours on the carvery due to low staffing. Did a great job under pressure Sunday 4th August. Management should be proud! Food was great - disappointing no turkey or mash available and the place was a little chaotic but food and the wait was worth it. Cheers to the team and especially to Callum for coping well in difficult circumstances.

Straightforward pub food done well. A big shout out to Mandy who is the highlight of any trip...hilarious yet professional, knowledgeable and friendly!

Not a great breakfast. Staff weren’t friendly and waffles were not included despite being on the midweek menu. I would go to the Tudor rose instead

Visited while staying in nearby Thornton Hough. We have been here before but many years ago. The first thing you MUST do if arriving in your own vehicle is to input your vehicle reg into the console that is situated at the left of the bar or you will get a fine in the post. We ordered our meals, 3 courses for under £15 off a set menu. We sat looking out over the beer garden and the Parkgate marshland. Starters and mains arrived nicely spaced but we sat for a good while and still no dessert. In the end I had to go upto the bar and chase it up. That was a shame as it wasn't overly busy so strange as to why it happened. Nice area for visitors, ample car park, nice food. May get very busy on a weekend though so be prepared.

Paid for 5 carveries and a childrens meal to find out when got to the counter the only meat available was Turkey. Gravy had ran out so had to wait 10 minutes it arrived very watery so staff sent it back into kitchen. Was awful

Carvery here is one of the best on the Wirral, in fact I'd feel challenged to find somewhere better for the price. The carvery chef is always lovely and from being in the business myself for years I can tell he generally cares about his food and the clientele. Keep it up StoneHouse and make sure you're giving these chefs good incentives to continue their passion in such a challenging industry. See you soon

Great place wonderful food and stagg

We were very disappointed with the lack of service had to clean our table. The beef joint was very tough and coffee was served in a mug wouldn't bother again.

Love it here,food is amazing and all the staff are the best I wouldn’t go anywhere else.Every time we are greeted with the most warm welcome and nothing is to much hassle ❤️

Very reasonable prices staff helpful and friendly.

Mediocre, we ordered feta and spinach pasta, beef lasagne and a double burger with bacon. The feta and spinach pasta was just a handful of pasta shells in a basic cheese bechamel, no hint of feta or spinach in it. Beef lasagne was basically liquid, we even joked that we would need a spoon to eat it I think they forgot the beef. The burger was tired looking like it had been under a heat lamp for a while while they defrosted the lasagne in the microwave. The only saving grace was the friendly staff who brought the meals over.

Amazing time had by all - will definitely be returning again in the near future

Thanks to all the team for another excellent evening at The Old Quay, Parkgate. Mandy and Rosie particularly made sure the Birthday Party for 9 of us was special. Definately recommend the Lasagne. Remember to order some chips if you want them. Made for a lovely change. Though as ever I believe the Carvery was excellent. Thank you and no doubt see you soon. God bless

After searching Heswall area where me and my husband where staying and looking for somewhere to eat, all closing early 6 -7 o'clock because of the football final we decided to drive to park gate to see if the old quay was open as we had been before for visits and knew it was very good good there. As we left we spoke to the staff after enjoying a small meal and had engaged with them during our visit.. Mandy, Millie and Terri where the three staff members that we chatted to after saying goodbye. Three very pleasant young ladies who made us feel very welcome. Excellent representatives for the Old Quay. Next time we visit the Wirral, as usual, we will be back to visit the Old Quay as it is very customer friendly.

Visited 13/07/24 for my daughter 1st birthday family get together front of house was I think her name was Mandy and Azza they were nothing but polite and happy to help with any request, Service is great, food cooked to very high standard, tables always cleaned and staff are always eager to help, refurb looks amazing

Decent gaff friendly staff been here before and after the refurbishment was great both times breakfast and dinner had all you can rat breakfast first time and a nice 3 course meal second time shout out to Angela our waitress who was also great!

Came yesterday great food and service

Stopped in for the hunters mac n cheese, came out quickly and nice and hot. Tasted delicious and washed down well with a nice cold pint! Would definitely recommend.

Really poor experience, went to collect a too good to go parcel and on collection ( which was well within the time period!) place was closed and on trying to get a response, staff clearly refused to answer the phone or answer the door even tho the staff could clearly see we were trying to get there attention! Will not be returning and suggest no one else does either.

Very busy on a Sunday, but still managed to get a table around 6pm without reservation. Can't speak for the rest of the menu, but the carvery/Sunday roast was good, the waiters friendly and helpful, and the man doing the carving was friendly and efficient.

This place has serious gone down hill in the last 2 visits, never ever much veg on the carvery at lunch apart from 3 choices of veg that's been sitting there for hours. Ordering the dirty clucker burger meal was a joke as the chicken was like chewy rubber and was vile. This has been the case the last 2 visits here, the service has gotten worse.... Slower service or non existent. Took ages to get food and when the chef called service over the other staff jus walk past ignoring him and did so for ages we ended up going over our selves to get our food although I have mobility issues and it killed me! Like I said what a joke this place has became! UPDATE: emailed with no response!!! UPDATE 18/6/24: Has taken The old Quay 5 months to reconise their bad service after having emails ignored previously, Too little too late to say the least! If you want good food and good service and good customer service then this is NOT the place for you to come and dine (based on experience and waiting 5 months for a response after being ignored)! Thanks for the response but like i said too little too late!

Went the old quay with my 10 yr old son, he had the adult pizza and i had the gammon, chips, egg and peas. Had to buy the onion rings seperately. But overall, lovely food and service was brilliant. Will definately be going back. Thankyou

Came from London to visit my sister in Parkgate, Mandy made my visit incredible. Will definitely be back again soon.

My children took me for a birthday/father's day meal today. Not been in a while but can only say Wow! Food was delicious, service impeccable and staff very friendly. They even served my birthday cake which my daughter provided.❤️👍

I must say the roast potatoes made the last month have made the dinner much nicer than usual. 10 out of 10 Jay the super star roast potatoe crisper . 👋💪

Ordered a takeaway, I live only 5 minutes away got home and the food was only warm and the container which was for the food,was just plonked in,all mixed together, my wife ordered apple pie and cream, the cream turned out to be a white fish sauce, one good thing the staff were very polite and friendly

Had a fab breakfast this morning here with my daughter, food was tasty and our server Craig was very helpful and friendly. Would recommend.

Very warm greeting, clean table, pleasant atmosphere. Helpful and friendly staff throughout and carvery was amazing 👏

Carvery is very variable, this visit the carver gave only a few flakes or shavings of meat, very stingy, I remember last visit they were more generous. Good quality meat though. The veg is really good and good cranberry and horseradish sauces. Carvers seem too hide out the kitchen or outside and the lady who seems to be in charge always has to shout the carver to come out and serve. Always enjoy my visit here though.

George was our server today and he was really lovely and helpful. Food was okay for a carvery, desserts really good but no bubble waffles which we were looking forward too. Would come again

Nice carvery food. Served by Callum, but having paid for extra meat the portion was very meagre. Especially as the roast is the highlight of the roast dinner, not the cabbage and carrots. Lovely situation looking across towards Wales.
