Absolutely amazing food, lovely decor, atmosphere and friendly staff!!! Group of six of us ate here (birthday celebration). Food from starters to desserts all faultless, tasty, presented nicely, generous portions. Would highly recommend and we will definitely return in the near future.

We tend to come here every year for my wife's birthday. Food is as fantastic as always. We had pate to start, ravioli and ribeye for main and the brulee and knickerbocker for dessert. Ribeye was perfectly cooked as always. Service wasnt great. The waitress seemed to take her time and couldn't manage more than one table at a time. Each time we asked for something (drinks, dessert menu, the bill) we were met with "I'll be with you in one minute", which always ended up being about ten. Wouldn't be too bad but the venue now insists on automatically applying a service charge. Atmosphere was not what it once was. We had our table booked for Saturday evening and there were kids running about. It's not very often we get a night away from our own kids, so it's a bit of a dampener to have unruly kids running around. Think we'll give the place a miss next year. The food is perfect but when the service and atmosphere matches that of a Hungry Horse, it's hard to justify spending nearly £150 for two people.

The food here was excellent. The atmosphere was good. However, we ordered pate and it came with two small pieces of bread. It was lovely but now where near enough bread, so we asked for a bit more. The waitress said no problem and gave us two more small pieces. We spent a considerable sum on the meal and drinks but I couldn't believe they actually charged us an extra £1 for the extra bread. I know it's a minor thing but left a sour taste especially when the tip come to more than £40 that is automatically added to bill. Cmon you need to change this corporate image that you have created. Sorry but won't be rushing back.

I really do believe that the Fishpool is one of the best family pubs in Cheshire. We’ve been coming since it opened and I can honestly say we have never had a bad meal. We now have a toddler and the staff really do help to make the whole dining out experience enjoyable for you. The children’s menu is also fantastic - my daughter loves it. The chilli beef salad is by far one of the best we have ever tasted (and we have tried quite a few) and one I will definitely be thinking about for a long time! The manager, Barry is also fantastic - he really goes out of his way to welcome you - it does also help he’s a Liverpool supporter!! Finally the fires, no country pub is complete without a roaring fire and the Fishpool doesn’t disappoint, their fire is always so welcoming! Perfect country pub in my opinion!!

We wanted a lunchtime celebtatory meal for my mother's 94th birthday. Phoned ahead and they confirmed it does get busy on a Friday so we delberately booked a late lunch on Thursday. We were given a table in a quieter area as requested. The pub is well designed with attractive and cosy alcove type areas. Service was friendly and prompt. The food was excellent - especially the mini taco starters, pie of the day and the blackberry and apple crumble which for me was the best I've ever had.

My first time visiting The Fishpool Inn. We were a table of 5, with a short 10min wait before being seated, with a reservation. Dogs are allowed with water bowls and treats around. The food selection was quite good, reasonably priced. Most of us went for a Sunday roast. The portion sizes were OK, we would have preferred a little bit more veg, maybe not all mashed, whole carrots and more greens would have been nice, the taste was lovely though and all our plates were clean..we all had dessert too and they were a good big size compared to most venues these days. I'd definitely try a starter and main on my next visit and would definitely recommend a visit here. One of the front of house just put the dessert plates down without saying what the dish was, maybe just saying what the dish was would have been more professional and giving it to the person who ordered it, hence 4 stars, Thank you.

The coffee machine, oh dear, this was poor, very poor! I'd strongly advise you not to ask for a coffee. The milk wand was encrusted with burnt milk. Every time milk was steamed, it was just left to build up and build up and build up. I did witness a waitress submerge the wand in water to devolve the calcium build-up for a good 10 mins, but the irony is if the wand was simply wiped clean after every use (2s job) there wouldn't be burnt milk flacking off into every drink. Also, cross contamination with alternate milk. BIG NO NO!! Massive training issue. Food- exceptional Service- terrible Hot beverage- diabolical

There wasn't that pressure that we had to order and leave ASAP as they were busy and the food was divine. We had starters & main and all food was delicious. We sat right by the kitchen, which was a little noisey, but for having a 2yr old it was perfect as that provided the entertainment for him and he sat still for the whole duration! Wonderful spot for an afternoon stop off to enjoy lunch. Whenever we visit the area we do always plan to come here. Came with my partner, family and the dog. Lovely welcoming greeting as you first walk in by Barry and venue extremely accommodating as we wished to be in the sun outside. The garden out back is beautiful and great for the kids to run around and yet still enjoy relaxing yourself. I am Celiac and extremely happy they could do a Fish and chips gluten free! And my partner had the superfood salad with hillomi, was a good amount of the cheese on top and extremely filling for a salad! If you do visit the Fishpool make sure you get a Sunday Ice Cream, it had to be shared amounts the table because we didn’t have much room but a great finish.

I would say that the food was very average but that it is overpriced . We had 2 small sharing starters and a main each, I had a bottle of water and my husband had 2 bottles of bear and it was £90! We were sat on tall stools balancing on a wobbly round table so it was uncomfortable to eat at. Staff were friendly but I would not travel out to eat here again. Compared to the amazing meal at The Chefs Table we had recently for £40 more it was much better value for money, more food to a much greater standard and more comfortable seating.

There was a nice atmosphere, not quiet but not imposing. The staff were welcoming and very friendly, and the service was great. The food was very nice and well presented, and they had a good selection of drinks and proved to be good value (5 of us had 3 courses and 2-3 drinks each) for the level of service and quality of food that you are served. Hi there everyone, This is basically a review of shrikflation. We visited the Fishpool on a Monday evening as a party of 4 people. We have been here twice before and this was our third occasion visiting, so we must have enjoyed our previous visits. I must say the establishment is amazing and has bags of character. The food was presented very well and tasted fantastic. However, we did get served burnt nann breads which were replaced when I notified a member of staff. I would say the only thing that I could down star this review for is the lack of food which clearly shows the managment have work hard to give you just enough food not to complain about but charge you the full amount. Either I was very hungry that day or the portion sizes have shrunk in the Fishpool as I was disappointed at what I recieved. I got the butter chicken curry dish and had about 4 pieces of chicken. Also the desert glass was miniscule for the Sunday Ice-cream. On reflection I should have taken photos to support my review and £162 bill for 4 people but I forgot. Anyway, it was a nice visit which was supported with a little supper at home.

For the sake of 4 quid I’m not really bothered about the amount but not telling people it’s on there is a bit naughty! Edit: Yes, it’s on the menu… which we didn’t get because we pre-booked afternoon tea only. Perhaps taking some more accountability and not pushing the blame on your guests is some further feedback 🙄 It’s also shouldn’t be my responsibility to check you’re not padding my bill!

We both ordered the Sunday roast, I had tje roast beef as I wanted the Yorkshire pud. The roast beef was very grisly with lots of waste so I was very disappointed. The roast potatoes are always rhe main part of a roast and nice crispy roast are a must, these were pre cooked and left under a heat lamp, so tasted like the ones you get at a carvery so very very disappointed. The Yorkshire unfortunately was very tastless and needed seasoning but was a great size and texture. Over all very disappointed with the roast lunch and tasted very much like a carvery but I expected more.

Absolutely stunning food. Very tasty, the whole family enjoyed their meals. The blade of beef, pie and lasagne were particularly outstanding. The place was immaculate and nicely decorated. There were big cushions we could use too, which were great as I have a bad back and it made the stay so much nicer. Service was a little slow when we wanted to pay the bill (we were tired from going walking in the morning), however they were fine with us paying at the bar on the way out. Waitress was friendly and polite. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a birthday meal. Spectacular.

Visited, based on recommendation from one of its sister pubs (The Bears Paw). Looks very nice from approach and inside and very comfortable seats offered. Menu looked very nice and proved difficult to decide. Starters: I went for the Ox Cheek, which I've had elewhere and usually proves delicious. Unfortunately, although it turned up promptly and looking nicely presented, it proved to be 75% jelatanous fat, which, of course, is very disappointing given the price of starters alone (photo attached). I know 'fats' can add to the taste, but this was not what was expected given previous servings. My wife didn't opt for a starter, but we shared a goats cheese flatbread (also as shown). This was very nice and by no means disappointing. Mains: I went for the 'A la Plancha' Bacon Joint with marmalade glaze and fried egg. Again, it looked nicely presented and tasted very nice indeed. Just (again) disappointed, by the overly thick layer of jelatanous fat. This could have potentially been made into a cracking, but ended up being an inch thick slab of leftovers. Otherwise, the meal was lovely. The dear wife went for the 'Peruvian marinated Chicken Burger', served with hand cut fries and a delicious, if not perplexing, green sauce mayonnaise. (I just wish I ordered what she did). Dessert: I went for the ye olde traditional Banoffe Knickerbocker Glory, and the wife had the Elderflower Creme Brulee. Both were very nice and washed down with pleasing drinks. Bill was, as expected, very expensive. Moreso given the disappointing starter and main for myself. A 'discrete' 7.5% tip is automatically added, so be aware. Yes, the service was great, but if I visit again, I'll definitely reconsider the options. Aimed a bit more towards the 'la dee daa' side of Cheshire 🧐, which I can do, but prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, like its sister pub, as mentioned earlier.

The Old Harkers Arms in Chester is probably the best pub in the World! Scenically placed by the canal, with great food but it’s the staff that really make it. They literally can’t do enough for you, always welcoming and attentive. I started going about a year ago and now travel to Chester every week just to visit this pub. I don’t know how they maintain such a level of service across all staff members but I’m never disappointed. Special shout out to Mark who, having finished his shift, with coat on and half way out the door, spotted my nearly empty glass and came back in to pour and deliver me another pint before he left! I tell all the Uber drivers that take & fetch me about how good it is and they always agree it’s got a great reputation!

So sad to see this beautiful pub turn into an untidy, fast food premises with dirty tables and run by very young adults who were quite unfriendly. My husband said the cider they now serve was awful and they’d run out of pinot grigio, my tipple. We are locals but won’t be returning until it is restored to what it should be and used to be. A good boozer selling good, honest food. Would have given one point but the live singer on was really good.
