Food was nice, service was shocking. Sides delivered as starters. Rude waiting staff who were more concerned about chatting at the till/bar than paying attention. Half the sweets order turned up 30mins late. I was asked "what do you want" in a very rude and blunt manner by a waitress as I was asking for the bill, a "hello, how can I help" would have been better. Eyeballed aggressively by the chap this waitress was chatting to at the bar (possibly a chef). Not going back, and I suggested you don't go either. Only decent member of staff was the new supervisor who did a good job of trying to set things right.

It was recommended by friends to visit here. It took us a while to finally visit but WOW we are glad that we did. The food here is incredible, we weren’t waiting long for our meal but it wouldn’t bother us if we had to wait an hour as the quality was excellent. The staff here are absolutely incredible. I would recommend to anyone. We cannot wait to come back!

Booked a dog friendly table. Weather was atrocious when we went walking before our food but the restaurant and staff were so welcoming and sat us by the fireplace to warm up. The dog and ourselves looked completely bedraggled. Our server, called Jersey I think, was fantastic. We had a xmas meal from the xmas menu, and the potatoes were the best I've ever eaten from a restaurant, delicious. Overall highly recommended. Lovely staff, welcoming for pets (although please ring in advance to book a pet table) and delicious food. Xmas decorations were also stunning. Definitely would return.

We stayed near here and wanted somewhere for dinner for 7. We couldn't get booked till little later than we wanted and figured that wasa good sign as if they were busy it must be nice. We weren't disappointed. The pizzas were amazing, the fish and chips delish and a special.mention must be done for the daube of beef soft and melt in the mouth. A great evening. Our only issue was waiting a bit for sauces to go with our meals and not being able to get garlic mayo. All in all though great value for money, good ambience and.loads of choice. We'll definitely be back next year

We really enjoyed our food here. There were 8 of us in our party and one of the turkey meals had dried up meat. This was resolved immediately and a fresh plate of food was brought out. Personally I found my chosen dishes to be delicious. I had salmon roulade for starters and the beef for main. Prices are on par with other restaurants in the area. It was very busy on a Thursday night so I would recommend booking in advance.

We enjoyed our lunch experience. However, my coq au vin was nothing like the description on the menu. " Slow cooked, simmered and braised" were 3 words which attracted me. It was none of these . There was plenty of chicken but it was not simmered in a red wine sauce. More like chicken with a catering gravy poured around it. Couldn't see the shallots although a silver skin onion made a brief appearance and the promised mushrooms turned out to be one piece of a mushroom. As for the "sweet cured lardons" they must have been forgotten or were never in the dish to start with! The " lyonnaise" potatoes were nothing of the sort. An insult to French cooking. The buttered green beans were delicious. The other members of the family enjoyed their meals. The children's main was very good.

A rural location on the outskirts of delemere forest, with good access from frodsham, northwich and Chester. Ample parking with an overspill carpark. The inn has a rustic coach house charm, on entering the double doors your greeted by a timbered foyer with walls covered in hunting memorabilia. The lighting and ambience suit the interior from the main dining room to inglenook cosiness. The food selection varies from seasonal roasts to more varied specials, priced around £20. Service is prompt, friendly and professional, and nothing is too much trouble. Dog friendly areas are available and are located in cost nooks off the main dining area. A very pleasant experience and highly recommended.

We tend to come here every year for my wife's birthday. Food is as fantastic as always. We had pate to start, ravioli and ribeye for main and the brulee and knickerbocker for dessert. Ribeye was perfectly cooked as always. Service wasnt great. The waitress seemed to take her time and couldn't manage more than one table at a time. Each time we asked for something (drinks, dessert menu, the bill) we were met with "I'll be with you in one minute", which always ended up being about ten. Wouldn't be too bad but the venue now insists on automatically applying a service charge. Atmosphere was not what it once was. We had our table booked for Saturday evening and there were kids running about. It's not very often we get a night away from our own kids, so it's a bit of a dampener to have unruly kids running around. Think we'll give the place a miss next year. The food is perfect but when the service and atmosphere matches that of a Hungry Horse, it's hard to justify spending nearly £150 for two people.

The food here was excellent. The atmosphere was good. However, we ordered pate and it came with two small pieces of bread. It was lovely but now where near enough bread, so we asked for a bit more. The waitress said no problem and gave us two more small pieces. We spent a considerable sum on the meal and drinks but I couldn't believe they actually charged us an extra £1 for the extra bread. I know it's a minor thing but left a sour taste especially when the tip come to more than £40 that is automatically added to bill. Cmon you need to change this corporate image that you have created. I really do believe that the Fishpool is one of the best family pubs in Cheshire. We’ve been coming since it opened and I can honestly say we have never had a bad meal. We now have a toddler and the staff really do help to make the whole dining out experience enjoyable for you. The children’s menu is also fantastic - my daughter loves it. The chilli beef salad is by far one of the best we have ever tasted (and we have tried quite a few) and one I will definitely be thinking about for a long time! The manager, Barry is also fantastic - he really goes out of his way to welcome you - it does also help he’s a Liverpool supporter!! Finally the fires, no country pub is complete without a roaring fire and the Fishpool doesn’t disappoint, their fire is always so welcoming! Perfect country pub in my opinion!!

My first time visiting The Fishpool Inn. We were a table of 5, with a short 10min wait before being seated, with a reservation. Dogs are allowed with water bowls and treats around. The food selection was quite good, reasonably priced. Most of us went for a Sunday roast. The portion sizes were OK, we would have preferred a little bit more veg, maybe not all mashed, whole carrots and more greens would have been nice, the taste was lovely though and all our plates were clean..we all had dessert too and they were a good big size compared to most venues these days. I'd definitely try a starter and main on my next visit and would definitely recommend a visit here. One of the front of house just put the dessert plates down without saying what the dish was, maybe just saying what the dish was would have been more professional and giving it to the person who ordered it, hence 4 stars, Thank you.

The food here is 5*. I can't fault it, but unfortunately, the service really does let this place down. The staff are really nice and friendly but the attention to detail is very poor! The coffee machine, oh dear, this was poor, very poor! I'd strongly advise you not to ask for a coffee. The milk wand was encrusted with burnt milk. Every time milk was steamed, it was just left to build up and build up and build up. I did witness a waitress submerge the wand in water to devolve the calcium build-up for a good 10 mins, but the irony is if the wand was simply wiped clean after every use (2s job) there wouldn't be burnt milk flacking off into every drink. Also, cross contamination with alternate milk. BIG NO NO!! Massive training issue. Food- exceptional Service- terrible Hot beverage- diabolical

I took my in-laws here as it was a recommendation from family and the whole experience was 10/10. The restaurant/pub was packed (which is always a good start) but the service was still excellent. There wasn't that pressure that we had to order and leave ASAP as they were busy and the food was divine. We had starters & main and all food was delicious. We sat right by the kitchen, which was a little noisey, but for having a 2yr old it was perfect as that provided the entertainment for him and he sat still for the whole duration! I would say that the food was very average but that it is overpriced . We had 2 small sharing starters and a main each, I had a bottle of water and my husband had 2 bottles of bear and it was £90! We were sat on tall stools balancing on a wobbly round table so it was uncomfortable to eat at. Staff were friendly but I would not travel out to eat here again. Compared to the amazing meal at The Chefs Table we had recently for £40 more it was much better value for money, more food to a much greater standard and more comfortable seating.

Hi there everyone, This is basically a review of shrikflation. We visited the Fishpool on a Monday evening as a party of 4 people. We have been here twice before and this was our third occasion visiting, so we must have enjoyed our previous visits. I must say the establishment is amazing and has bags of character. The food was presented very well and tasted fantastic. However, we did get served burnt nann breads which were replaced when I notified a member of staff. I would say the only thing that I could down star this review for is the lack of food which clearly shows the managment have work hard to give you just enough food not to complain about but charge you the full amount. Either I was very hungry that day or the portion sizes have shrunk in the Fishpool as I was disappointed at what I recieved. I got the butter chicken curry dish and had about 4 pieces of chicken. Also the desert glass was miniscule for the Sunday Ice-cream. On reflection I should have taken photos to support my review and £162 bill for 4 people but I forgot. Anyway, it was a nice visit which was supported with a little supper at home.

Fantastic pie and chips here. ...the pie of the day was steak and mushroom and it was lovely .... fantastic friendly service ....totally recommend it. My friends have told me so many times how good it is and I can assure you it's better than they said ! Enjoy 🙏🙏 we called in coming back from the Tattenhall classic car show and it rounded off the day nicely 👍🏻👍🏻

Had a lovely afternoon tea, can’t fault anything regarding the service. Was a bit disappointed to discover a 7% service charge though - no issue if it’s mentioned but this wasn’t and it felt a bit underhanded. For the sake of 4 quid I’m not really bothered about the amount but not telling people it’s on there is a bit naughty! Edit: Yes, it’s on the menu… which we didn’t get because we pre-booked afternoon tea only. Perhaps taking some more accountability and not pushing the blame on your guests is some further feedback 🙄 It’s also shouldn’t be my responsibility to check you’re not padding my bill!

All good, the Sunday roast was plentiful and tasty. Nice friendly atmospheric feeling about the place. Service was good and all very clean. It was a warm summer evening: there was a large, pleasant outside area to retire to for an after dinner drink, if you so desired.

Service was absolutely brilliant and the staff worked hard. I was slightly disappointed with the steak and mushroom pie, it was bland and needed some flavour. Also it was so hot in the restaurant it did end our night early because it was too warm. We wouldn't return unfortunately.

The Old Harkers Arms, Chester. Quality pub and restaurant. Superb selection of well kept real ale. I had the Cheshire Cat bitter which is a lovely pint. They were doing a ‘pie week’ and what a menu that was - absolutely delicious. Needs to be on more than once a year it’s so good. A very well kept place. Bar man / owner had been there 12 years.

Some tapas are really good, like nachos with bacon . Lentils...l won't try again. But as l always says, visit the place and get your own opinion.

So sad to see this beautiful pub turn into an untidy, fast food premises with dirty tables and run by very young adults who were quite unfriendly. My husband said the cider they now serve was awful and they’d run out of pinot grigio, my tipple. We are locals but won’t be returning until it is restored to what it should be and used to be. A good boozer selling good, honest food. Would have given one point but the live singer on was really good.

We stumbled upon this pub during a day out and decided to pop in for lunch. Surprisingly, it was quite empty, which is baffling given how tasty the food was! We opted for the tapas, and every dish was delicious. The staff were really friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. I would recommend this place based on my visit.
