Thyme Restaurant in Medway

Stayed one night, reception staff was very attentive and given the ground floor room which was really nice, booked us for the restaurant. We ate at the restaurant and we were served by a lovely lady Sara who took her time to explain the meal deal and also was a super star in finding a specific book that my son had seen. Amazing service all round, the room was clean and ready and decaf option was available.

Lovely location, easy access to Rochester and Strood. Plenty of parking, comfortable room and helpful staff

The rooms are very basic for the price we paid and the soap dispenser was filthy. We stayed 4 nights and requested our room to be cleaned after 2 nights . When we got back late it hadn't been done . Will not stay there again. Also the button on downstairs lift was broken and we had to use the stairs and for the 4 days we were there there was not attempt to fix it.

Unhelpful staff, terrible service of evening meal also charged me for breakfast knowing they weren't serving it. By far the worst premier inn I've ever stayed at, and I stay in multiple a week.

We use this hotel fairly regularly and so far it has met our needs everytime. The black out curtains help with sleeping and the breakfast is good value and the restaurant is clean and the food is well presented.

We went to eat dinner at the hotel restaurant 'thyme', the irony is not lost on me when the issue here was time. It was THE WORST dining experience I have ever had at a premier inn restaurant. We had a table booked for 19:15 and was sat down straight away. We were told when being sat down that there would be a "short wait for food due to staffing in the kitchen". We ordered some starters of dough balls and brucshetta. An hour and 20 minutes later our very simple starters arrived, it took 80 minutes for them to serve rock solid inedible burnt dough balls that could have knocked someone out, and a cold "brucshetta" that wasn't even real brucshetta. A brucshetta is normal served on a toasted piece of sourdough or ciabatta with tomato and salad on top with balsamic, instead they served a small cold subpar garlic flatbread topped with a small amount of raw diced red onions, they did get the balsamic right. After complaining, our mains arrived quicker, about 20mins after our starters. 1hr 40mins after sitting down we were finally eating our mains. Credit where its due, the burger was very good, alot better than you would expect from an establishment like this. However, it was served with the smallest portion of chips I've ever been given for dinner (as pictured). We were planning on having dessert but opted no to in fear of the wait after wasting an evening twiddling out thumbs instead of our original plans. I would recommend the hotel if you don't need to use the restaurant, if you are going to need food then I would suggest getting something delivered or going across the road to McDonalds.

Surprised at the quality, service, cleanliness ,friendly staff. Expecting cheap and cheerful but every thing was like a 4 star hotel . One of the best premiers in Kent. . Definitely going back. River views, cinema next door and restaurants along the river. Amazing standards in this hotel and staff couldn't be more helpful and breakfast was extremely nice .Returned and was even better, love this place !.

This hotel, in my opinion, needs to clean the carpets everywhere, place some air fresheners everywhere. There is a very unpleasant smell everywhere. Otherwise, everything else is perfectly fine! The rooms are clean, and the staff is absolutely professional

Barstaff double as check in staff great value and room was spotless.

Got there at 2pm to check in but checkin was at 3pm so no problem. We asked if we could leave our bags at the hotel and the man was hesitant at first and then said ‘ don’t you have a car?’. I thought this was strange as we were allowed to leave our bags but were given options not to. Location is okay for mc Donald’s, pub, cinema however if you want to go to the high street, you’re going to have to travel out a bit.

Tired and incredibly under staffed. Residents that weren't on a meal deal had to eat elsewhere. I was, fortunately. Food was okay.

We have stayed at this hotel 4 times this year and it's felt like they are letting their standards slip. The rooms are shabby in that desks and units are usually damaged. Stained lamp shades. Noone enforces the disabled parking so I had to struggle across the carpark as the disabled spaces were all filled by workmen . Disappointing.

I love a premier inn but the pillows were too hard here the room was a bit small for a triple family room and can’t get through to reception on the phone and the bed was quite small for a double it was a bit chilly and the 24 hr McDonald’s opposite full of cars honking and ppl smoking outside all the time is off putting also it’s 40 minutes walk from Rochester

Only spent two nights. Will not be going back . Beds uncomfortable. Breakfasts was good had to pay twice because manager forgot to add £0.97 pence. And if you are going and want a taxi .beware they are very unreliable. But good luck

What a shame as the other premier inn we stayed in (Ringwood) was amazing. This location, i would never stay in again. We were supposed to be booked with our family, however when we got our key card and went to the room, there was already someone in there! Imagine if it was a naked man or two couples getting intimate and our 6 and 12 yr old saw that! Then, a few hours later we had supper. The "dough balls" were harder than a hockey puck and my brother's medium rare steak was cremated. Thankfully the didn't charge for the dough balls and took them back. They also brought back a stake that was properly cooked. Good job. After we ate, we went to the bar and was told it was last orders. It was 9:30pm on a normal working Wednesday so basically the staff couldn't be bothered to work their full contracted hours and wanted to leave early. There was 9 of us, plus, around another 10 people. During the time they closed, several other patrons came in and to their shock, were told the bar was closed. It was supposed to be last orders at 11pm, and we've flown 4500 miles to see family so wanted to spend more time catching up. Then, this morning when we went to get breakfast, we were told the kitchen was closed and that it was continental breakfast. No, this is not acceptable. I'm now looking for other hotels as this is a joke. If you're reading this, DO NOT STAY HERE, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.

Fantastic hotel, extremely clean with brilliant staff. Cannot fault the place. A definite return trip here.

The receptionist was unfortunately one of the rudest people I have ever had the misfortune to meet (I wish I had taken her name ) with absolutely no interaction In fact she only asked me my name and that was it. If this is the best they can do as our first point of contact then it's a pretty poor show.

Its on the outside of town, so location means you need to drive or take a taxi into town.

Proper grim. Room 31 smelt to the high heavens of damp, it was clear the room had been flooded and not repaired properly. Complained at reception and told no other rooms available. Breakfast was disgusting, bacon undercooked, dirty plates and cups. This place is great if you are easily pleased and have low standards, if you’d like a clean place to stay and a well cooked breakfast don’t go here.

Stayed for 3 nights for the Xmas Market We were well taken care of as my husband has difficulty walking long distances Great view from our room All staff at breakfast and dinner were fantastic Bless them with a new computer service took its toll on them so don't get impatient with the staff Housekeeping staff also wonderful Thank you everyone for making our stay with you fantastic ❤️

Very tidy bedroom and excellent breakfast. Staff were very helpful and polite. Just didn't like the fact that my room was overlooking the train tracks. I kept being woken up by the noise. Other than that, everything else was perfect.

Standard that you expect from premier Inn, only complaint was that the premier WiFi and free WiFi was down which made working very difficult!

Clean and good value in a great location..the lady at breakfast on Sunday was really helpful and friendly. No car parking fee which makes a nice change ! The food at breakfast on Sunday was lovely- usual coked breakfast items plus English muffins and crumpets which was a nice change.

After being told by member of staff to ring head office to change room, they then had a ago at me for no reason and is making may things un fair for a lot of people this isn't the first time they've screwed over a member of public and cover them selves with no answering phones or refusing to solve a issue

A great nights sleep and good food, as always at Premier Inn. Staff were struggling in the restaurant at times, but that’s the desperate hospitality staff shortage that the UK is suffering these days. 4 stars is because the website doesn’t show restaurant times, which was critical to me as I was a late arrival on a meal deal wanting to know I could get dinner.

What is the problem with Premier Inns when you book a room as a couple? Every time I book (and yes, I've checked we booked as 2 guests), we only get one towel and one pillow in the room. I explained this to the receptionist at the Rochester Premier Inn this evening, when asking for an extra towel and pillow, and she went off in a huff, saying that she doesn't clean the rooms and only starts at 3pm, after the cleaning staff finish - as though that's my fault! She actually said she'd need to 'hunt around on the upper floors for a pillow' as though we'd caused her a huge amount of trouble. Why can't staff at Premier Inn's staff do their job - which is to look after their guests?

So far the best premier inn we have stayed. Clean, pleasant, workers very kind, quiet....and in this lovely city.

Ideal hotel in a quiet location for visiting Rochester and North Kent

We have used lots of Premier Inns, so we knew what to expect. However, I have to say, the staff here were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for them and I could see they work really hard. I was touched and incredibly grateful to the staff who picked up that it was my birthday and bought a card and chocolates to our table with our evening meal. Please Mr/Mrs Manager of this Premier - you have wonderful staff - hope you appreciate how good they are. Thanks again.

Old rooms, small even for a family of 4. Weren’t ready when we arrived to checkout in at 330pm. Rats in the car park. No mobile network service, free Wi-Fi is slower then a snail and the £5 Wi-Fi drops out constantly or has no internet connection! Kids enjoyed seeing the ships and boat. McDonald’s 2 mins walk for convenience. Also old dirty plasters all then the floor outside the entrance to reception upon our arrival.

Visited this hotel for breakfast and found it to be extremely clean and friendly. The staff including our waitress Nicole, were perfectly capable and extremely helpful. The food was excellent and the choice perfect.

Stayed here for 5 nights in the family room could not fault our stay here very helpful friendly polite staff and room was perfect vary clean and spacious would definitely recommend.

Some parts of the Breakfast were cold. But good you could help yourself to everything except the fried eggs that were cooked to order.

Weve stayed here quite a few times while visiting family, we like the rooms, the beds are comfy, staff are always kind and very helpful, weve eaten in the evening, great flavourful dinners, we love the variety for breakfast and always leave with happy tummys.

I have had the most disgusting experience at your Rochester Hotel. The room and bed is bed bug infested. I have been up since 6.30am trying to look for an alternative hotel to book for my family. I got bitten by bedbugs and i have pictures and videos of the bedbugs crawling all around the bed area and the head board they are everywhere!!!! It's utterly DISGUSTING. I need a full refund and reasonable compensation for this terrible inconvenience. We booked room 228 & 230 and now have to look for 2 rooms on a bank holiday weekend 16th April 2022! This is an absolutely disgusting hotel. . Logged the complaint on their website qnd they said it will take 35 days to be reviewed!!!! Case number- WHB-1309057-N5D2

Everything was spot on as you would expect of a premier inn The bed was superb clean excellent shower Breakfast was brilliant cooked to order so served hot and quality items and didn't skimp on anything Staff very friendly and helpful nothing to much trouble Would absolutely recommend and it looks over an estuary so a lovely spot if not off the beaten track but that certainly shouldn't put anyone off It was lovely to see the place busy but it certainly deserves a pat on the back of whoever's managing co's they're certainly doing it right Comfortable atmosphere Well done all

Despite the outside look, was pleasantly surprised with the interior decor of the lobby. Staff were friendly enough. Unfortunately the bed was broken and creaked at the smallest movement. Similarly, while a bath is nice sometimes, my partner is unable to climb in/out for a shower.

We only stayed for one night we had great a time the staff was great and very friendly and helpful the room was very nice the only thing that let the stay down was the breakfast it wasn't food it was just it really cold but overall we had a great night.

This was our 2nd time to Premier Inn Rochester. I found staffs are nice and friendly. Our boy loves the room and the big bed.We want to come back again.

2nd worst one I’ve stayed in. Food is pretty rubbish and it’s right next to a train line so don’t expect a decent nights sleep

My partner took me for a nice romantic night away, the room we were put in was amazing, a newly built room we had a great time there. We both loved the security of the whole building as you need your key card to enter any door. The only down fall we had experienced was when we went for dinner at the restaurant they have at the hotel. We had ordered ( at the bar ) our starters, mains but wasn’t sure if we wanted a desert yet.. and the young lady who took our order was rude and said “ don’t you think that is a bit much” looking directly at me and my partner. We were quite offended by that comment, then she continued on by saying we had to pay for it there and then.. so we did. We then thought we would have dessert else where. Other than that we had a great time there.

Perfect location for diggerland, next to frankie bennys, chiquito, bingo, bowling mac Donald, bit noisy with the trains but we had window open, clean, lots of space in the restaurant, breakfast was good fresh selection of hot and cold, family room are good size and spacious

I do not normally leave reviews however on this occasion I felt I had to due to the extremely high level of customer service, professionalism and a great attitude demonstrated from janine. I felt that Janine was a total breath of fresh air and an absolute asset to your organisation and she should be recognised for that fact. I will definitely be booking your hotel again and also all members of our staff to do the same when we are working in the local area again. Well done Premier Inn for finding such talent and a great member of staff. Lastly a big thank you to Janine for all your efforts, it was very much appreciated.

Food was great and bed was very comfortable

Not up to usual Premier Inn standard. Air con set at lowest didn't do anything apart from make annoying noises. Plumbing made noises, generally in need of some maintenance. Beds are usually fantastic but here it seemed not so good. Would go again but not rushing back

This place exceeded my expectations!!! The rooms and sheets were clean and all the staff there were very warm and welcoming (although I have to warn you that you need to let them know at the reception to have your room cleaned). The breakfast buffet is a steal and the restaurant staff frequently coming over to ask if you need anything - fried eggs, etc? Gosh! The location is just 👌! There's a McDonald's, Frankie and Benny's, cineworld, gym, you name it in one place. We requested for adjoining rooms and we got that. Spent a nice and relaxing New Year with the fam ☺️

The hotel was nice it's located just 5 minutes drive from M2 and the bridge over River Medway. Restaurant inside or you can eat from the restaurants next to the hotel. Good parking. The hotel and room was clean, the staff is nice. Very quick check in and out. The downside the wifi keeps stopping and could use a boost. Just a couple of minutes walk and you can find entertainment places. Rochester and Chatham are 15-20 minutes drive away.

booked a room and was booked for two weeks... an hour before check in they called and cancelled my booking. when asked why i was told becaise last time i made a complaint qbout house keeping waking me up at 8.45am. rude obnoxious staff.... still waiting for refund.... rude useless staff

Nice hotel. Premier inn always has a good Dependable maintened standard which is what makes it so nice that it's the same and what you always expect. In a good location in my opinion by water which Mcdalde over the road next to the water. With both having fab views over the water and hills smeared with roads and houses.

we stayed overnight for Rochester Christmas Market what a wonderful experience staff were brilliant room clean and tidy and as for breakfast was best ever very well organised and again staff were brilliant and you must try the blackpudding best you will ever eat well done staff in these difficult times

Would have given more stars, but unable to park in designated disabled space due to contractors parking there. Complained about it and was told that they don't operate the car park and there is nothing they can do about it. Shocking!! What's the point of having the spaces if it is free for all?

Reached at 9 pm for check-in with family .I was informed that your booked room is already given to some one else .Waited in waiting area and then pushed to stay in 3 person room .While my booking was 2 adult and 2 kids. Not a good experience

For the money you pay, this was an exceptional night of accommodation. There's loads to do in the area, and when we required ice for some drinks the night porter was happy to help. Would 100% recommend.

Clean and tidy good food in restaurant but can be a little noisy if rooms are at back from the railway (but not often) also signal can be poor depending on where in hotel staying

The staff where wonderful so helpful in every way. Megan in our first few days was so helpfull .Oh hope you had a great birthday weekend Megan.The rooms where clean and the bed was very comphy,anything you need just ask the staff they go out of there to help you.Will be returning for sure.Everything near shopping and places to eat. .Hotel food good too.
