Loved this place saturday night sitting outside ,dj belting out some good hits ,thoroughly enjoyed it

If the bacon had been cooked fully, and the toast toasted beyond just dry bread, and if the food had been hot, it would have been a better experience. Service was good, nice place, bu the chef needs to be better to keep up the standards.

A fantastic spot for both food and drinks, with unique rooms that are worth exploring. If it’s your first visit, I highly recommend checking out the Vault Room and the Infinity Bar, and don’t miss the lovely garden. I had the full English breakfast, which was delicious, though the beans tasted a bit off, so I left them. The staff were attentive and even gave me a discount for the beans. Overall, first-class service, and I would definitely return!

Have a lunch with my hubby after visited the Castle and Museum. It is really nice good atmosphere,friendly staff and delicious food. Order the starter and 2 main dishes it is really big portion, full enough.Highly recommended the seafood platter. Don’t forget to order wine with it.😘😍

Came for a Sunday roast. Wasn’t told there was a live singer. So loud you couldn’t hear yourself speak. The beef and lamb was tough and went cold quickly. Shocking waste of time and money

Night out in Rochester and this was the landing spot... Didn't disappoint ! Lively evening, live DJ playing some classics mixed in with some absolute bangers... The place was jumping ! Great selection of bar cocktails and spirits, pleasant bar staff, fantastic atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves... Felt like teenagers again in that place. Great night, highly recommend it for a few friends looking for a good night. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Came here with some friends for a (tame) stag party as I'm not as young as I was! Really lovely garden - excellent service, cracking atmosphere and good drinks. Just what I was after!

I visited the George Vault with my boyfriend. We were welcomed by one of the new managers Constantin and taken care of by the friendly and professional staff throughout the night. The main attraction to me was the extensive cocktail menu and especially the £12 for 2 they do Monday to Friday 12pm-8pm. We thoroughly enjoyed my favourite cocktail, the French martinis. They also had an extensive drink menu, including a beautiful variety of wine, champagne and liqueurs. Live music played throughout the night and as it go later people came flooding in We wanted to have a lovely night out and that’s exactly what we received at this upscale and lovely gastro pub. I would most definitely recommend to anyone searching for a lovely cocktails place.

Easily 5/5. Knowledgeable, attentive and friendly staff. We were sat by Constantin, one of the new managers, who was very welcoming. We were looked after very well by all the staff. We arrived late afternoon and stayed well into the night!! We spent the majority of our night in the garden. We sat under a heated cabana for most the night and enjoyed our 2 for £12 cocktails, these were all lovely and very reasonably priced. We had the pleasure of visiting the new affinity lounge, a more upscale and sophisticated cocktail bar with beautiful decor and a quieter vibe throughout. Me and my partner would love to recommend the George vaults for anyone wanting a meal or a great night out!

We went to a wedding that had this place as the venue. Everything was ok until later in the evening when one of the security was quite rude. We were not aware that under 18’s were not allowed out into the garden after 7 despite it being hot inside and the 2 kids with us (12 and 17) were very hot and needed air. He chose not to explain this to us and walked off to find a manager instead after just saying no under 18’s outside. When we were leaving the venue the same security decided to stop the kids from coming with us as we were leaving and ushered them out of a fire escape on their own - bearing in mind this is the middle of the night - completely freaking out the kids as he had separated us all not letting the kids come to us and let us know what’s happening. When a member of our group wanted to pop back in to make sure that someone who was with us knew we were waiting outside they refused him re entry despite that he could have wanted to go back to the venue. Neither me nor any of my family will be returning to this establishment. This rude and ignorant behaviour has soured our evening.

Lovely cocktails. Lovely place.

Food quality was awful. I asked for sausage and mash - the sausages were barely lukewarm and were completely pale. I get that they were supposed to be stewed but even so they are still supposed to be browned first and served hot, not undercooked. They took them back to be heated - they arrived back brown and literally just warm, however by this point the mashed potatoes were cold and gluey where they did not warm them up or keep them warm enough. A pity that the service was let down by the really poor quality of food because the servers were very nice but I sure won't be coming back.

I went with a friend mid week and sat in the garden. There was no music, the outside bar was open but only to dump dirty glasses on, so that was great to stare at. Only one guy taking drinks orders who was working his butt off but had too much to do, so I went in and ordered drinks at an empty bar. The guy behind the bar answered the phone 3 times whilst serving me and half way through went and done someone else’s drinks who was kicking off as they’d been waiting in the garden half hour. Finally got our drinks, went out and ordered food. Had the mixed fish platter that came out with no lemon but nobody to ask for some. The smoked salmon was dry, thick and chewy…inedible!! And without the lemon the whitebait was no better. Won’t be going back.

Popped in for a couple on Saturday, although no room outside it was a very nice place and the service was quick and professional.

Been a few times. Ticks all the boxes. The lady host at the door is fab and always finds us room in the garden.

Went here for my sister's wedding as it has a chapel underground, a good pub and the staff are funny and helpful. Would recommend

Used for a business meeting, we were able to use the garden more the majority but we also had a conference area available.

Went for dinner last night with a friend for my birthday. Whilst the service was good the food was very disappointing. We both had the tiger prawn cocktail as a starter which consisted of a couple of prawns, a few lettuce leaves and a tiny bit of sauce & two huge pieces of bread which we had to ask for butter for. My main was ok - chicken schnitzel but my friend ordered the burger which was served cold and undercooked. The chef made another one for her but we had to wait at least 10 minutes for so I was awkwardly eating my meal whilst my friend waited patiently for hers. When the bill came they had put an optional 10% service charge on but no discount or gesture of goodwill for the cold burger so we declined paying the service charge. At £40 each I though it was expensive for the quality of food we had. I won’t be returning to eat here given this experience which is a shame as I’ve enjoyed visiting just for drinks which is why we booked a table for dinner. Not the birthday meal I was hoping for!

Bouncers make you feel really uncomfortable.

I haven't eaten here, so I can not judge the food. I like this place. I've attended for years. It can be a bit of a tight squeeze on a weekend night out. There is a DJ, not a very good one, though, sorry. I only say that as his mixing isn't all that good, but the tunes are. Because of the music and people dancing, it is a tight squeeze if you want to navigate through the venue. There is a large garden in the back which is nice, with bars, seating and heaters for colder nights. Staff are friendly and I can't really complain about this place. Just wish the layout was different or one of the extra rooms that are empty were used better.

Took parents for lunch, food was the same quality as whetherspoons and double the price. Incredibly greasy. Door staff terrible in the evening. Refused to assist when crimes are taking place. Saw another complain that her drink had been spiked. Door staff advised her to go to a different pub if she didn’t like it there.

The food was so good here and was our favorite thing to do once a month, but they have changed the food and the quality of food has dropped not very nice sorry to say. The bread board was a mix of different breads now its a brown and white baguette.

Terrible. Take forever to cook one burger, and I wanted just the beef and the bun without the cheese. And Guess what they served me a cheeseburger! Made them make it again and those naughty people scraped off the cheese. Terrible

Had a brilliant time drinking cocktails (for my husbands 50th 🫣) and chatting with the very friendly staff, especially Ryan and Oli who suggested the most amazing cocktails. I have a very happy, and little bit tipsy 50 year old birthday boy. Thank you so much for your hospitality and warm welcome.

Went to celebrate my 50th for cocktails at lunch time. The staff were amazing and very welcoming. They recommended the perfect cocktail choices. Special thanks Ryan & Ollie for making my birthday a day to remember. Everyone should go and try the Mango Chilli Margarita!! Thank you guys.

A long wait for cold poor-quality food, missing part of the order, then spoken to with arrogant disregard by the manager when we voiced our unhappiness. Walked out, won't be back.

Yes they have Sunday roast available in April (unlike other places in Rochester…). I am very glad they did, mixed roast covers all the bases and prepared excellent. As a bonus they had live entertainment and he was as good as the restaurant…excellent.

Coming from America where server's are a lot different. Ours spilled a good portion of my margarita and acted like nothing happened. Food was delicious. I had the Philly cheese steak and chips.

Not been before but really enjoyed. Inside was so lovely plus a great atmosphere. Good choice of food including vegan. Asked about vegan desserts and lots available that weren't in the menu? Staff friendly. Will go again 🍹

SPAT ON BY BOUNCER. Was told that my doc martin boots were trainers. Bouncers have a massive power trip problem, was let in by managers as I was part of a booking. Management and staff were great, but would never go back because of the bouncers. Not to mention I was spat on in the face by a bouncer unprovoked.

Staff are great, but was SPAT ON BY A BOUNCER. Don’t get me wrong the drinks and food are amazing. But don’t be suprised if your doctor marten boots are labeled as “trainers” by the bouncers before management let you in if you’re lucky enough to be part of a booking. Try not to get spat on on the way out. Wear a body camera on arrival to show bouncer attitudes to police. 🤮

Haven't been to George Vaults in a long time, was kindly escorted to a lovely seat in the marquis where our lovely server brought us the two for twelve pounds cocktails, Ryan, our server provided 10/10 service, the drinks were delightful and hit the spot and Ryan was very attentive and ensured we were well looked after, can't wait to go back for amazing cocktails and service.

Ryan thoroughly looked after us! Absolute king =] Shannon was amazing behind the bar as well! Was exactly what we needed after a busy term!

We arrived and were put on a table with 6-8 incredibly noisy and selfish boorish males standing very close to our table, making deafening conversation, as I was about to ask for us to be moved, about 5 minutes after we arrived they were moved to their table. We ordered our Sunday roasts, both asked for lamb. When the food arrived, my lamb had a significant serving of cartilage and a bit of fat. Some of the meat was nicely cooked, mixed in with some grey dry meat. The potatoes and carrots were very nice, the other vegetables were a mix of very dark very bitter leaves and some “normal” and ok cabbage. It was the very first time I have ever experienced a Yorkshire that was so crisp it was crumbly! We looked at the dessert menu and were a bit uninspired we were weighing up our decision when we heard the tie less man who appeared to be in charge talking loudly near our table, we could her every word he was saying, he was talking to a female about his sinus problems and gave a very detailed, blow by blow description of his technique for sinus washouts, in details that we REALLY didn’t need to hear during our meal. The one event alone encouraged us to go elsewhere for dessert. Not a pleasant nor satisfying experience.

I’m a regular customer and today I popped in with my dad and brother to celebrate my belated mother on Mother’s Day. I got to the front of house (gentleman) to say all tables were booked which is fine but I said we can get a drink at the bar as we had a meal in 20mins for him to say “does your restaurant not have bar?” Extremely rude and dismissive. Think before to speak. Customer service is key as this day can be delicate for some. I felt my money wasn’t good enough if I hadn’t booked a meal.

Went in at random, as had never been to Rochester before. It was a wet and cold (mother's) sunday and I really fancied a roast. Arrived at a busy time, with no booking. They found me a table and the roast was top-notch. So much so, I ordered more potatoes, they were superb. I have vegan thoughts, but they go with roast beef and gravy that good!

Lovely busy wine bar with plenty of beer choices. Nice atmosphere clean and plush.

I didn't eat there this time so cannot rate that today but it's always very good there

We came in yesterday after our weeding ceremony and we want to say a big thank you to Dominic, his service was amazing. We will come back for sure !

After hearing so many good reviews about the food at The George Vaults, I can only think, as the 6 of us were shown to our table in the marquee/garden area, that they had escorted us to a different venue. £17 for chicken scewer, with 3 very small pieces of 'chicken' was shocking! The service was good but after checking if we could continue ordering drinks and stay at the table (by now, 4 more friends had joined us, so we were spending plenty of money) we were informed we could. Within 20 minutes we were informed we needed to vacate. We didn't ask for the manager but he spoke to us, chewing gum, and he had an attitude. No customer service from him. Be interesting to know what manager training he's had 😂 but he's definitely not doing The George Vaults any favours. AVOID this place if you like good quality food!

Shocking service and attitude from Manager. 6 of us for dinner then 3 more joined for cocktails/drinks. Was told we had last table then after spending a lot of money asked to vacate the table! Manager said he wasn’t bothered about a bad review ‘I don’t care’ were he’s words.. undercooked chicken ‘all of 1 skewer’. prawns served with alternative bread, shocking attitudes. Won’t be visiting, recommending to anyone. Shame obviously been taken over as previous visit 2 years ago was splendid

I recently visited with friends for a special birthday. We were seated in the garden/tent area. Most of the party ordered the chicken skewer. Very expensive for three pieces of chicken on a skewer. Chips were £3 extra. In all we just have spent well over £400. At around 7pm we were told that we needed to leave as the table was booked out, even though we had asked if it was booked out 20mins before. We were very happy sat there spending money and felt much aggrieved to be thrown out. The manager was extremely rude to our party, not sure how he has remained in that position. We won’t be returning!

Three course hen do meal. Beautiful surroundings, however… Soup was under seasoned, the ravioli main was chewy and undercooked and the filling was tasteless. Others agreed. I had the veggie options but there’s no reason to skimp on taste just because you’re not having meat. Very lazy cooking and disappointing for the price. There’s so many easy ways to make a simple dish interesting. Not at the Vaults sadly.

I dont really enjoy going out for sunday lunch having been disappointed a few times but omg i cant recommend this place high enough absolutely gorgeous and plenty on the plate for the price

Nice atmosphere and very friendly attentive staff,nice cosy place , comfortable seats, I wasn't that keen on my meal but that's probably a personal thing ,if I had ordered something different then I may of liked it more ,had a good experience overall.

If I could leave a 0 I would There seems to be A LOT of similar reviews on here about the security so seriously think twice about booking here. I attended an engagement party last night and I must say the security are the worst I've ever seen. They didn't leave us alone. I went out the front to make a call and was then told I cannot come back in because I had trainers on even though they were shoes and I had been inside all night Even when we got there at 645 we were told we couldn't go downstairs to the event because it wasn't ready yet even though we were the ones setting up and someone's mum was already down there setting up! Seriously need to get rid of them they were absolutely awful. I did like the venue and was actively looking for a venue for my engagement party and thought when we got there I would use it but because of the ignorant selfish busy body security I will definitely never be coming here again

Disgusting management. How they speak to people who have paid a lot of money to have an event here is absolutely disgusting. The bouncers unnecessarily manhandle customers after they’ve complained to management because management are incapable of taking criticism. Won’t be going back to this place. Absolute joke.

Had a fantastic night for New Year's eve but cannot understand how you can make 1 rule for 1 person and a different rule for everyone else! Rang up before arrival and told no trainers to are allowed and it had to be smart casual so I wore some smart but uncomfortable shoes and when we arrived there, there were people wearing trainers so I can't understand how you can tell people it's a rule and then people abide by it but your still letting people break the rules and wear trainers anyway! It's an absolute joke!!! Wish I'd had worn my trainers now because they are the only shoes that are comfortable for me and I like to wear and now I have extremely sore feet! Not happy! 😞😞😞

Walked in, waited 10 minutes for a table (not overly busy) and was barely acknowledged - thought we were about to be seen to but staff member starting having a conversation with a group of people who walked in after us. Quills across the road it is!

Popped in here for a quick pint while I waited for a cab. Quick service and quiet about 19:00 on a Wednesday.

Avoid at all costs, I came in with a disabled person and they turned us away. We went to the Christmas market and just wanted light bites and a warm drink.

Unwelcoming staff blonde woman who seats you very aggressive her customers service skills 0 staff all moody waited 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. They seem more friendly to posh clientele.

Eat here regularly when we are away working! Love this place, never been disappointed. Always a great atmosphere and the staff are lovely.

Visited when in Rochester for the Castle Christmas Markets - the perfect location to warm up and have some food! The chips are delicious, and I would recommend the Dragons kiss cocktail! Staff were super friendly also!

Reasonable price drinks staff was fantastic and great atmosphere.

Very funky and cool decor, very busy. Didn't feel overly welcomed, even though we were only stopping for a quick drink whilst waiting for some of our party to change in their hotels before we head off to another venue. We were immediately told there was no room for us, we couldn't go in the garden. We were allowed to order at the bar when we explained the situation. But when going to use the rest room a staff member intercepted us and quickly told us once again there was no room in the garden so don't go out there. I would have liked to have see the rest of the bar and garden, even if it was just to lay eyes on it. But we drank our drinks and left as soon as we had finished. I have still given a 4 star review as I understand Saturday nights will be busy. But if you wish to enjoy this night out I assume they do reservations? Or at least I hope they do.

Particularly, we wanted to say thank you to one of the managers Gaye at George Vaults. She was friendly and attentive to our large group of 8, although the venue was extremely busy. She never came across stressed and ensured we had the table that we wanted when it became available. Thank you, Gaye! We will be back when we next visit Rochester.

I visited with a friend for lunch and we were disappointed. I booked a table and on arrival was shown where our table was. There didn't seem to be any service so I went to the bar to order a drink where I was told they would take our order at our table. Service was slow and we had to keep going up to the bar or catching a member of staff as they walked past or we wouldn't have had any drinks. 4 cocktails each and they charged over £11 service. 2 cocktails were only 3/4 of the glass full. The staff all seemed preoccupied with "friends" they knew who were in the bar. The bar man was what appeared to be flirting with a young women at a table near us. It was all very awkward and uncomfortable. It's a nice bar but we won't be giving back.

We popped in for a couple of birthday cocktails after going out for dinner. Lovely place to relax and chat with friends and great selection of cocktails.

Appalling behaviour at the door by the 2 guys. Let the girls in but boys apparently couldn't go as they had trainers on. They literally didn't even want to have a bloody conversation while many people kept coming out the door WITH TRAINERS ON! CLEARLY ITS ABOUT MORE THAN THE SHOES. then 2 other guys came and i pointed out he had trainers..one of the security guy told him to "GO TAKE A WALK AND COME BACK" as our group was still there!!!!!!.WANT TO HAVE A GOOD NIGHT? DONT COME HERE!

All I can say is just wow, what a hidden gem A real cross between a lively high street bar and an up town classy restaurant Love the idea of a beer garden with outside serving stations and function venue to hire out Food was out of this world, smelt great, tasted amazing and the service was on point Honestly, for my first visit I could not have been more impressed An absolute must go to location and somewhere I will be returning to

The staff were friendly & kept checking on us. I really don’t get the hype of the outside area (cold / damp), however this was my own fault for not booking so this was all that was available. Food was nice a bit cold & I think for the price i would have expected slightly bigger portions (Sunday roast). I would go again but wouldn’t rush!
