The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving British food

Very disappointing tried to book online no confirmation of booking received after 3 attempts, tried calling so many times I forget, with no one bothering to pick phone up. Pleased we never went if that's their customer service.

My second visit and both times have had extremely aggressive security. They have no respect, are aggressive, and don't listen in conversation within confrontation. They touch young woman when don't get their way and proceed to kick full groups out of 20 when don't get their way. Grabbing woman and offering "massages" is the normal behaviour here, with no second look. Bar staff are incredible, get better security.

A lovely old pub with friendly staff and good food. A treat after a long journey

Decent pub, for a couple of beers. It could be better organised, there were many areas closed and a lot of broken furniture everywhere.

On arrival, the pub was empty, so no atmosphere. Unfortunately, I ordered a full fat soft drink they only offered Pepsi max or diet Pepsi only. (NOT a good start) I selected a menu. However, these were stuck together with alcohol and had not been wiped down, hence why they stuck together.. We sat in the restaurant area as we were planning on staying for food. Once seated, the table mats were also marked with alcohol glass rings and clearly not wiped down. The bar maid came to take our food order, she wasn't really welcoming, and asked us to leave the dining area and move to the bar if you're not eating! To be fair, the pub was empty, and I can understand why if that's the welcome .. We chose to leave and won't be returning. Dissapointed !!!!

Really nice pub and garden, wish I lived closer

I've had a typical English breakfast twice. Ordering is a hassle, because you order online or at the bar. That method is quite impersonal.

Nice but expensive. Wait times up to 20 minutes for a drink (via QR code ordering)

We were staying locally, called in couple of times. We ate on Wednesday, food was excellent especially as it was busy. The staff were all friendly and extremely efficient. The cleanliness and attention of everyone is a testament to the outlet. Thank you, will be returning,....

I stopped at this fantastic pub on Wednesday night 23/4/25 as was in the area got a very nice warm welcome from the barman the pub was very nicely set up I went for a tuna jacket spud the young lady served it was very nice looked and tasted very nice too this pub in my views is a little gem and if you find your self in Sheringham in Norfolk try this pub there isn’t anything bad I can say about this business staff helpful polite it was clean and tidy the loos again clean and tidy there is free parking after 6 pm in the high street go check this pub out tell them mr cheeky in Kent sent you

Always get a big fuss for my pups in the Fleece. Me and the family are regulars and always made to feel welcome and looked after. Loving the burger and a drink deal. Best smashed burger in Penwortham

Our party stayed in the two bedroom apartment at the rear and it was very well appointed with a lovely breakfast basket delivered in the morning. We had a lovely drink in the beer garden and dined in the restaurant. It was all fantastic and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommended for both accomodation and food. Only negative was that the pork and lamb served in the restaurant while cooked well overseasoned and a bit salty .

My friend took me here because it's the oldest pub in Chester (allegedly) but when we walked in there was a wall of noise. The bar staff had decided to turn the volume up to 11 and were playing what can only be described as ABBA on acid. Basically a techno beat to ABBA songs but not sung by the original group. Conversation was virtually impossible, so we had one drink just to say "been there, done that" but I won't be rushing back.
