The only improvements I would suggest to the Old Post office is to let people know in advance that they are going to have to navigate to a car park if arriving by car, and that they recommend Saint Julian's car park, I think it was called. We tried to find someplace to park ended up wandering around the extremely crowded and tight City, had to pay the 24-hour rate at another public car park. All was well though, the room was fine, the breakfast in the morning was good, and walking around Shrewsbury is amazing and inspiring. The post office is wonderfully situated to walk from. I just wish more of these hotels had deals/passes from the car park or City to place in the windscreen and get a break on parking costs!

Was walking around Shrewsbury wondering where to have lunch. Came across a sign lunch 2 for £16. So we thought alot of the time when you get such a good offer the meal comes and your disappointment. However this hidden gem was packed full of surprises. We entered and found half of the local community having lunch. The young lady and gentlemen was very sociable and helpful, we was informed it could be around 20 to 30 minutes before we would recieve our food. It was that busy we could see why. So made our order with a couple of drinks and Relaxed. Our food order arrived after 15 minutes and both dishes were well executed and in abundance we wouldnt hesitate to recommend so search for the old post office in Shrewsbury where you will get excellent value, great service with beautiful food. A big thankyou to the chef also the bar staff. We will definitely be returning.

Stumbled across this lovely pub when walking through town, saw their sign outside offering two meals for £16 so decided to pop in. Myself and my wife stopped in Shrewsbury, Monday and Tuesday 5th/6th August and stumbled across this place on the Monday for a bite to eat. Food was fantastic and a good selection of ales. We enjoyed it that much we went back on the Tuesday for dinner and I must say I liked the Bombardier. Special mention to Izzy as she could not do enough for us. If just coming to selecting a beer. She was helpful and she is a credit to the place with exceptional customer service. Also compliments to the chef for outstanding food. The location was good, being in the middle of Shrewsbury with the room clean and tidy. I didn't like the door lock, as I wasn't sure I actually locked it. It was the same with the separate bathroom. Despite the room being above a pub, the room was quiet.

The Old Post Office is a quaint old courtyard coaching inn, but the accommodation block is next door rather than above the pub, so it was nice and quiet. At first, things didn't look promising - you ascend a rather grim set of stairs - but I needn't have worried, the room was attractive, spacious, with an inbuilt wardrobe and spacious en suite shower room/WC. Big telly, if that's your thing, plus ample tea and coffee facilities (plus biscuits). Clean and well-aired, I did considerably better than my companions who seemed to pay more for worse rooms eleswhere in Shrewsbury. Breakfast wasn't huge, but was just right (and was served with a smile) although the choice was a bit limited. All-in-all a very decent place to stay in the heart of the historic town centre, which is something of an unheralded gem in itself.

The bar maid Ellie I found was very rude to me, shes always come across with no customer service skills but on this occasion im disgusted! The interior is looking very old and tatty. And stop allowing customers to take drugs in the toilet. I found an empty bag in my cubicle. The best part was the food, the chef saved the day! Popped in without booking on Sunday, as we don’t know Shrewsbury that well we weren’t sure where to try for lunch but decided on the Old Post Office. Staff very welcoming and attentive enough, but not over bearing. Safe to say all four of us left very happy with our decision. We all had roasts, the meat was perfectly cooked, and the gravy was the star of the show. Veg really nicely cooked too and clearly fresh. At £9.95 it’s incredibly cheap, would pay AT LEAST £15 for a roast dinner of that quality. Great value for money! Would recommend to anyone!

Then when asked for normal menu we were told we were a 'big' party so could only order from the 2 for .... menu. Strange as 5 is not an even number to make this a viable offer. Maybe this place doesn't need the custom but cusyomer service needs to improve. RUDE to say the least. Left and ate somewhere else and glad we did. Restaurant Review: The Old Post Office Nestled in a quiet backstreet, The Old Post Office Pub may be a bit tricky to find, but once you step inside, you're greeted with warmth and charm. The atmosphere is basic yet inviting, with a clean and cosy interior that exudes a welcoming vibe. As for the food, it's everything you'd hope for from a pub restaurant and more. While the menu offers familiar classics, each dish is crafted with care and attention to flavor. From hearty burgers to comforting steak & ale pie, the food here is both satisfying and delicious, leaving your taste buds craving more. What truly sets this place apart is its staff. From the moment you walk in, you're met with friendly faces eager to make your dining experience memorable. Their genuine hospitality and willingness to please truly enhance the overall ambiance of the restaurant. Of course, no pub experience would be complete without a nice cold beer, and the The Old Post Office Pub delivers on that front as well. With a selection of quality brews to choose from, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a refreshing pint alongside your meal. In conclusion, if you're in search of a hidden gem where you can enjoy tasty food, pleasant company, and a nice beer in a cosy atmosphere, look no further than the The Old Post Office Pub. While it may be tucked away in a backstreet, the experience it offers is truly worth seeking out.

I’ve lived in Shrewsbury for two years now, and this is by far the best Chinese food I’ve found so far, and I’ve tried a lot of places! The sweet and sour king prawn balls were amazing.

Stayed at harmer hill Premire inn. Next door is this pub. The food was lovely came out nice and quick. Tash was our waitress who was a delight to speak to. She really made us feel welcome and nothing was too much to ask. The other young staff member didn’t really know what they were doing by the looks. All in all a lovely meal with brilliant service.

The flights on the darts kept coming off, a very nice pub.
