Friendly pub hotel, on the high street in Cleobury Mortimer. I had a large room and a comfortable bed. The shower room is quite tired, but plenty of hot water. Talking from downstairs or next door was loud during the evening, but that was the only minor issue. I could not stay for the 9am breakfast time, so they made me a little (vegan) breakfast, which was lovely (just give them a few days' notice). I think I could have also had a vegan dinner, had I wanted it. Kettle and tea/coffee (including decaf) in the room. Would definitely recommend!

The staff were friendly on arrival but from there it went downhill. The carpet in the room was dirty, there were human hairs of several colours on the surfaces and in the bathroom including the shower and there was dust everywhere. Mistakes happen so we mentioned this to the barman who sent someone to improve the cleanliness. This certainly didn’t involve vacuuming and seemed to only focus on cleaning the toilet. We then headed out to meet friends only to return later to discover that all of the hairs were still there and a damp patch was in the bed. What we then discovered is that from room 2 you can hear every word of every conversation in the bar. Sprite was a popular sale! The room was very hot overnight and the window opens out onto a brick wall a few inches away so no view or fresh air so we struggled a bit. There was also exposed electrics for a missing light which also made the place dark. We also found the bed pretty worn, incredibly soft with a massive dip in the middle. We needed to head off before the 9am cooked breakfast and we were offered a continental option in the room. This arrived at about 8pm the night before so the milk and butter were a bit warm in the morning, not helped by the milk being a day out of date.

We stayed at the Kings Arms Cleobury for two nights on arrival the staff were friendly and we were told we could go to our room before our check in time. The stair carpet up to the room was very dirty and there was a unpleasant smell in the corridors. when we went into our room the carpet was very dirty the flooring in the shower room was dirty, we didn't use the shower as the shower head had lime scale on it and was also very dirty , the table in the room clearly had not been cleaned and the paint work was peeling off and there was dust everywhere in the room , we cleaned the room ourselves with anti bacterial spray. overall with the pandemic situation we were very disappointed to find a room was offered in this condition

We had gone to Cleobury Mortimer to try out the different pubs there. The first three were closed at lunchtime, the next one along the street was the Kings Arms. This was a blessing in disguise. A splendid array of real ales and an extensive menu selection to choose from. We both chose the Steak and Ale Pie, I didn't want chips and asked if there was an alternative and was offered mashed, which was fine. We thoroughly enjoyed the Pies and followed them up with another couple of swift halves. Whilst there we enjoyed most excellent and friendly service of both our food and drinks.

Stayed 1 night here passing through, easy to find and ample parking on road outside, upon arrival we were allocated room 4 but as we entered it was already occupied so we were given room 3 which was a twin room but we booked a double, after a few minutes we were then told to move to room 2 which had a double bed, the room was small and the window opened out on to a brick wall and roof. No view as the roof and brick wall came within inches of the window, this didn’t matter to us it was a one night stay, the room had tea and coffee facilities and a nice touch was two bottles of beer and two bottles of water supplied complimentary, the bed was comfy, the room was warm and maybe a little too warm for my liking, the bathroom was large with a good shower, clean and tidy. Our only criticism is that the music down stairs went on until midnight and I could hear every single word of every customers conversation, it was so loud I didn’t get to sleep until it had all stopped and the customers left, there is no sound proofing and I literally felt like everyone was in the room with us! But after everyone went it was bliss and a good nights sleep was had, breakfast was amazing served by a very friendly cook and made the stay what it was which on the whole was very good, we would stay here again but probably would not go to bed until midnight to sleep as there is no point lying awake due to the noice, for the money it was very good value stay. Thank you.

We had done the Mawley Hall walk in the morning and visited the Kings Arms. We ordered drinks and food at the bar and sat outside - beer was good and the food soon arrived - our party of four all had sandwiches and chips which was very good. We had to move inside as too hot outside, at the table we chose with comfy seats there was no sun brolly. The garden area could have been made more attractive with more plants and the wooden tables and benches need some attention.

What a find. A lovely friendly pub, serving real ale in a very pleasant village. After a fairly long motorway drive this was a little oasis on a Friday lunchtime. The 2 fish and chips for £10 was too good a bargain to pass up. The fish was freshly cooked, the chips plentiful, the peas were peas! The food here might have been more bearable had we not sat in a draught between the open kitchen door and the smokers terrace! It was also extremely worrying to see kitchen staff without hair nets or hats and with extremely poor hand hygiene. It is not acceptable for those working with food to come pet a dog in the restaurant (!!) before walking back into the kitchen and not washing their hands... the food was very basic and really nothing special. I was a guest at The Kings Arms for 2 nights in May 2018. The Hotel/Pub is absolutely lovely; my room was modern, comfortable, and charming; the food (English breakfast and pub dinner) was excellent; and the staff are so fine as to warrant further explanation. My stay happened to fall over Mother's Day (May 13 in the U.S.A.), and my daughters emailed the Hotel to request that a little note be placed under my door or at my breakfast place that morning to wish me a Happy Day and to send love. Well, Wendy at The Kings Arms took it upon herself to go above and beyond my daughters' request, went out and purchased a lovely card, and signed it from my daughters with love and xxx's from "across the pond". Who DOES that?!! Well, obviously The Kings Arms does. I highly recommend a stay here. It is in a lovely village and area very close to Ludlow and other Shropshire and Worcestershire attractions. Check it out!

Stayed here last night. When we arrived they had a cancellation so offered us a choice of 2 rooms.. one with a double bed, the other with twin beds. We opted for the twin because it was a brighter, larger room. A few minutes later they came up to the room & offered to make it up as a double for us, so we let them. We spent the night in the bar, which was friendly & lively. I wish we had eaten here, but sadly ate over the road (& had a terrible meal). The bed was super comfy & I had one of the best nights sleep that I have had in ages. Breakfast was lovely this morning & I will definitely come & stay again. If I have one small criticism, then it would be not to butter the toast for guests with the breakfast. My husband doesn’t eat butter (so didn’t touch his toast) & although I do eat butter, it had too much on it even for my liking.. it’s not a moan, just a small suggestion for the future. Thanks for a lovely nights sleep.

We arrived to a warm welcome, a huge characterful room with en-suite and a king/super king bed. Some bits of it were a bit tired but it is a very old building. We had room 1, above the bar, but the hum of the people below actually sent me to sleep. The silence at 11.58 actually woke me up, I heard the bells chime 12 and off I went again. Very comfy bed although I did comment that the pillows needed changing, which they tell me they were just about to do.The breakfast was very generous, my husband had the small breakfast which was plenty, I just wanted scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and got double portions. First time in the pub, quite impressed by the menu. Came in for dinner, having seen some dishes were £5.95. Hubby had hunters chicken, daughter had the fish and chips, I had the veg curry. We were a little unnerved when the owner walked past and asked us if we were eating, and we said yes, so she said the chef had gone AWOL, but someone would be there to cook. It didnt take long at all, we have waited longer at other places!Whoever cooked our meals should stay!! the portions were enormous, and everything on hot plates. Fish the size of a whale, chicken must have been from a huge bird, and my veg curry was nearly double what I normally eat. But we tucked in, and were in raptures. Happy chomping noises all round, daughter managed to help me with my meal... Only complaint from hubby was too much barbeque sauce on the chicken, but he is fussy! There is a great choice of Hobsons ales, ciders and wine. Pub was clean, staff were friendly. For the prices we paid I cannot complain! I only hope we get the same again when we go soon!

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and would convey a warning to anyone thinking of staying and getting an early night; the rooms are not at all sound proof and the music in the pub echoes around the rooms until midnight, when the pub closes. This wasn't an issue for the first night as we didn't arrive until gone eleven, but the second night was very frustrating when trying to get to sleep! This was made worse when we awoke to find that there was not hot water for the shower! There was no hotel information in the room so no contact details for help and the owners leave the pub empty at night. Staff were hard to find in the morning for breakfast and after sitting for 10 minutes we had to go into the kitchen to find someone to come and serve us.On the plus side the room was a decent size and attractive with a modern look. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits in the room which is always a must. The staff were very friendly and were able to knock us up a breakfast pack up for a very early start which was nice. The full English we had the second morning was good!Overall an OK stay but probably wouldn't stay again - noise issue needs sorting out and there should always be someone available to help with issues such as no hot water.

The rooms was warm and comfortable. The staff were very accommodating - I had to have breakfast early and that was fine with them. I had a lovely evening meal as well. I would recommend to anyone and I will come back if I am in the area again. Really reasonable pricing as well.

Our walking group needed a pub that could provide snacks for 19 on a Monday lunchtime in Cleobury Mortimer. This was the only pub that welcomed our custom and what a welcome it was! Generous helpings served with a smile and the added bonus of local brewed ale. A fitting member of the hospitality industry.

This pub has a lovely local feel to it, nice decor inside, wooden floors, wooden tables and chairs, and a well stocked log fire (in winter months)There is a nice outside seating area - nice in summer. The bar is well stocked, try the local ale - Hobsons, really nice and the bar staff will be able to recommend a good choice. Food is also very nice and fresh, and the atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming.Definitely worth a visit when in Cleobury!

We were made to feel very welcome on arrival even though we just called on the off chance, not having booked. Drinks were served quickly and then we read the menu and the specials board and placed our orders. There were seven of us, some chose from the specials board and others from the menu, we noticed the note on the menu that said everything is cooked to order so may take a while and we were prepared for a wait. It wasn't a long wait, just long enough for the food to be cooked, exactly as it said! Food was nicely presented and the portions were generous. My meal of turkey, ham and sweetcorn pie with vegetables was hot, tasty and filling, it had a nice light puff pastry lid and was packed with good sized chunks of meat in a tasty sauce, it came with a generous serving of peas, carrots and mange tout, I really enjoyed it.It was a nice atmosphere, there was a lovely log fire burning and when we left we were thanked by the staff. Good food, a nice fire, friendly staff, what more could you want on a February Friday lunchtime? I'd happily go back.

Went out for lunch with some family members and after finding out The Stable and The Talbot didn't serve food on a Tuesday, we were stuck with going to The Kings Arms. We got there and found there were no tables but were happy to wait. The barmaid said that we could push two tables together if we wanted even though there was a couple sat on a six seater table that would have probably moved if they'd been asked politely due to there being plenty of two seater tables. After finally getting a table we were told there was a twenty-thirty minutes wait for food. There was one member of staff in the kitchen and one member of staff in the bar and they were having to manage the very busy pub on their own. We all ordered our food and were then told that we had to change our order due to there being only two portions of fish left. After changing the order and waiting nearly an hour for the food, it finally arrived and was a disappointment. The steak and ale pie was very dry and just had a measly disc of pastry plonked on top of it. It wouldn't have been considered that bad if there had been a sensible amount of chips with the pie but no. We counted seven chips on the plate. Seven. That wasn't the only dish with a tiny amount of chips either. All of the meals had less that ten chips on each plate. The egg that went with the ham and seven chips on another plate was also raw. When you cut into the egg, raw egg white came out of it. The only good thing i can say about the meal was the fish. It was a very large piece and despite being the last two they were tasty. Overall the food was diabolical and I will be amazed if the person who ate the egg doesn't have food poisoning tomorrow. Definitely will not be returning because it ruined our day and was a complete let down.

Lovely atmosphere here, nice log fire burning on a cold winters morning. We had some hot and cold drinks which were fine, food was eaten too and that was ok. I had a fish finger sandwich and it was nice however slightly greasy - good staff and service!

I went here initially to get out of the rain but ended up staying for around 2 hours! I was tempted in by the sign outside that said coffee and cake but unfortunately they only had one option for cake which I didn't fancy. That was disappointing as was the fact that the quiz machine didn't work and I lost 40p as it wouldn't refund my money! Other than that it was a very positive experience. It has a fantastic open fire which kept my family and me warm and it had a very nice smokey smell going on which made it very relaxing (I almost fell asleep in the comfy high backed chairs!). I ordered a hot chocolate which was excellent, lots of whipped cream and marshmallows and it was a very good price - around £2 I think. It was also fairly quiet which meant my family and I could chat and drink without having to shout to hear each other. I'd recommend going here for a hot drink or a quick pint of you want a nice comfortable surrounding to waste a few hours.

We decided to try the White Horse for my father’s 80th having spent some time checking the menus of various local restaurants. It was extremely disappointing then to discover when we arrived that the Sunday lunch menu had changed from the online one, but that ‘admin day’ was ‘tomorrow’ so they hadn’t updated the online menu! I had been looking forward to the gnocchi but as this was no longer on the menu, and as the only other vegetarian option was mushroom – which I am allergic to – I had to have a cobbled together ‘beef roast’ without either the roast or even the Yorkshire pudding that came with the beef version. Worse, I was charged the same price as the meat version of the dish, despite having about half the food! The food itself was ok, nothing to shout about but not horrendous. However, the experience overall left a bad taste and we won’t be returning.
