Whilst the food is ok for the price, the service is very patchy. One not particularly busy evening I waited an hour food my food after ordering. This morning I ordered porridge for breakfast, and after waiting 35 minutes, I was told they had not even started it....so, no breakfast for me this morning.

Cold food delivered to the table an hour after ordering. This place is a disaster. Avoid at all costs. Typical “ding” chef menu executed poorly. Toilets are a disgrace, there’s just nothing going. For this place at all.

Ate here at as part of a dinner bed and breakfast meal deal at the Premier Inn arrived on first night for my evening meal to a warm welcome and friendly staff. I was shown to a table which was very clean and tidy my drink order taken and then my food order which I opted for the prawn cocktail and the smothered chicken the prawn cocktail arrived and was a generous portion very neatly presented and very fresh testing. My main meal arrived piping hot looking good on the plate not over-faced with barbecue sauce which is how I like it and tasted great. Barbara and Gareth were working in front of house along with other waiting staff who were all very busy but all very friendly and very efficient in their work. Barbara also works here as the chef and I was looking forward to meeting her again at breakfast, I came down the following morning for breakfast which usually can sometimes be a little frantic when part of a premier inn meal deal but on this occasion it was a very well run and organised affair. The continental side of breakfast was laid out all nice and clean and very tidy and looking very appetising. I was offered coffee of my choice along with ordering hot food of my choice on the menu which was cooked to order. I went for bacon scrambled egg and mushrooms which was piping hot again and very tasty. When I returnd that evening for my second evening meal again all waiting stuff were super friendly and helpful and efficient. I chose the prawn cocktail again which didn’t disappoint and went for the gammon as my main course and changed the peas and tomato for a small salad with no issue. The gammon was lovely not salty and presented very well and again piping hot. on my second visit for breakfast the following day was again the same as previous very well organised very well presented and a lovely experience. Overall would I recommend? Yes would I return? Yes what I would ask is that people have a little patience sometimes when the hospitality industry is busy give them a little slack. They work hard to serve us and all credit to this team, they do a wonderful job. Keep up the good work.

Bar staff are very poor, the chef and cleaner had to find them. The cleaning lady couldn't be more helpful. I am waiting at the upper bar now having tired of waiting at the lower bar, I can see them but not feel I should have to call them to their work station. I'm sure they will be very apologetic when they eventually arrive. Sorry my mistake, he wasn't. When I moved to the upper bar and waited, I noticed the trip advisor sign and thought I would fill my time by writing this review. Needless to say we won't be returning.

Used to love this restaurant and have been coming here for years. Went this evening and service was extremely slow. Only 3 people working; the rest stood around chatting. Waiting 40 minutes for our food, 25 minutes for our 2nd drinks. Asked for a dessert and the woman said she needed to grab some paper. She then never returned. After half an hour we gave up, paid and left. Food was cold and small portions. Was obvious some had been waiting on the side whilst the rest came. Really disappointing. Won’t bother again

We had stopped in for a nightcap, read the menu for Sunday Roast and booked a table! We were seated immediately after giving our drinks order and then the gentleman came over to take our order. Two Roasts with the 1 Pound Upgrade (another Yorkshire Pud--can never have enough!), additional gravy and roast potatoes...that is a lovely idea and more places should do the same. We waited about 18 minutes but our food arrived nice and hot and absolutely delicious! We've been frequenting the Bridgewater for years and after a 5 year break we are back and cannot wait to enjoy their Sunday Roast again. (One tiny problem...the roast potatoes were a bit overdone.)

This a pleasant enough place to go to, the restaurant is clean and atmospheric and the food is what you expect of a pub grub restaurant but that is where to redeeming qualities end. The wait times have always been long when visiting this restaurant, sometimes waiting nearly an hour for a desert. The food is alright however portion sizes and menu options have reduced over time. If you are in the area I would suggest dining elsewhere, the Corbet arms and the admiral duncan are better options in the area

Only able to give one star on account of the level of service....... basically none. We'd booked a table, got there, stood for 15mins with no-one to show us to our table. So had to go looking for someone to seat us. Got seated in the corner, did get served drinks and main course......then forgotten about. Once we'd eaten, no-one came for our plates, or dessert, or drinks, or anything. We sat there for almost 45mins with no attendance. If we wanted, we could've left without paying and they wouldn't have noticed. But as we're not those type of people, we did pay. But we won't be returning. And I hope this acts as a warning to others too. If this places cares even a little bit about customer feedback, then I suggest you get your staff sorted out.

Toilets were a mess and not cleaned for at least 3 hours Saturday 6th April, according to the sheet - it certainly showed. Proper modern pub in an ideal spot for us a couple of miles from where we were staying. The attached Premier Inn offers parking , lack of maintainence meant that that the car park was peppered with massive pot holes to navigate both by car and on foot. How these haven't been fixed is beyond understanding. The pun is welcoming and warm. Service was very good and the fixed "Easter Menu" was quite a bargain. Food was no better or worse than we expected. I'd certainly use it again.

My allergy requirements were taken very seriously and I was very impressed. The service was 5*. A real shame that the meal wasn’t up to the servers standard. Before leaving my partner and I wanted to play a game of pool. We put our money into the table and there was no white ball. The staff were full of apologies as to the reasons behind the poor service but could not explain why we waited a further 30 minutes after the first apology. They did not even offer to give us our drinks for free and took the £3 payment before leaving. We have been going to the Bridgewater frequently for the past 3 years and the service is sometimes hit and miss but this was by far the worst experience of food service we have ever suffered anywhere.

The food was good and came at a great price. The staff were excellent, friendly, polite, welcoming , attentive. What more can I say but thank you Lyndsie and Mary.

Visited for a lunch with friends. Food excellent. Well decorated and warm, ambient dining areas. Very friendly and helpful reception. But above all, the table service was absolutely wonderful. I have never in all my life, in many different countries and environments been served by a more friendly, genuine, well informed and caring person as Lyndsie. If there was nothing else (which, of course there is) then it’s worth the visit just for the table service. Dr Gerald Rochelle

Excellent location with lots of rooms being a Premier Inn too ample parking although it's full of huge potholes. Staff friendly food very nice and not overly expensive.

Visited at 6pm. Restaurant was quite busy but Barney our waiter was helpful and attentive. This pub is what it is and can sometimes be good and sometimes not so good, but tonight was a good night. Food was tasty and it’s always reasonably priced....

Highly recommend love the fact that you can order on an app instead of going up to order saving time. I had the diablo burger which was amazing and my friend had the burger and avocado with a side of cheese and garlic chip which was delicious and good portion sizes. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the place was clean. Definitely will be going back to try someone the other dishes. Also love that they are dog friendly aswell.

I’ve lived in Shrewsbury for two years now, and this is by far the best Chinese food I’ve found so far, and I’ve tried a lot of places! The sweet and sour king prawn balls were amazing.

Beautiful location. Really friendly, helpful staff. I was there for my partners daughter's wedding. Didn't stay in a room so can't comment. A lovely hotel, would like to book a stay there in future. I recommend this hotel.

Great accommodation/pub in the heart of Shrewsbury! The staff is fantastic. Very warm and friendly. All concerns are taken care of and I was able to sleep great even on weekend evenings without earplugs 😎🤙🏻 the bathroom was outside the room, but it is basically only 5 steps (basically the next door). That doesn't bother you in the least. Price performance is really great here. I can only recommend the accommodation to everyone.
