Came to Whitchurch as the halfway point to meet with friends, and chose the White Bear based on the menu having one of the broadest choice of vegetarian / vegan dishes I've seen. Good call - all the dishes were imaginative and tasty, and the service was great as well. Dog-friendly too. Thankyou!

It was a great end of year party... So we had a buffet and wide range of drinks to pick from🍹at affordable prices... This place would actually make a lit birthday party. Moreover, we played our own music collection, it couldn't have been better. I'd surely go again💃

Only popped in for a drink. Asked about a lesser known gin and was given the details behind them. I chose the dark gin and was told ginger ale would work and it did. Davy was a great host. Thank you.

We’ve just returned from the White Bear really disappointed. Such a lovely pub and manager, however the food was not up to the standard that is being charged. My sons pizza was £5.50 the same price as the other items but didn’t come with chips it was so small he asked for more food (he’s 5). The same size as the garlic bread but more £1 expensive for some reason. I did raise the question but told it’s only £1 more so doesn’t matter. The chips weren’t good either. Very good service just not worth the additional cost for poor quality food. The chicken burger was very fresh so I enjoyed mine. £3 for 1 scoop of ice cream too is ridiculous. Won’t be returning for lunch unfortunately. If it was cheaper I could understand the food quality but the prices don’t reflect the food. Our friend had cheesecake too that was warm and inedible. A real shame as I love the pub although the most expensive place to drink too!

Visited last week for an early evening meal.i had katsu chicken burger which was lovely once I got over the black burger bun. Something to do with charcoal. Once I got used to the idea it tasted great, strange how things play with your mind. A sweet with main meal was £3 I had churros with ice cream and toffee sauce, delicious and great value. All the staff were most helpful and friendly.. Our only downside ,we were at the back near the outside area and cigarette smoke kept drifting in which was a shame. Otherwise, thoroughly enjoyable

We visited the White bear on Sunday and were seated very quickly, Thore was a great choice of food. Prices were very reasonable too. We were 5 adults and five children. The service was great, and the meals were lovely - very generous portions. Great atmosphere and lovely pub. Wish it was our local !

Went for a pint early evening with relatives for a catch up. Pub is quite open with a good size outside area.Staff were ok. Looks a bit tired. Could do with a pool table etc and I would visit more often with friends.

Lovely little pub / restaurant, service and food was excellent and plenty of choice. My wife said the big fat Greek burger was the nicest burger she's had ever had - my wife is super fussy so this is some compliment!

We fancied a burger and thought we’d pop into the White Bear at lunchtime today. We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to a table for two. We were presented with our menus and our drinks orders were taken and bought to our table in no time at all. It was fairly quiet and our food arrived quickly. The food was excellent, my hubby had the classic burger and I had the chipotle chicken burger and neither of us were disappointed. The food was well presented, the portion sizes were great, the food was cooked to perfection and really tasty. We couldn’t fault anything and will definitely return again, it was a real lunch time treat ! Thank you White Bear :-)

Festive menu. Excellent service and the food was excellent! I had the soup: white onion and cider - delicious! All had the turkey main which was scrummy! Only two of us could manage a pud so we went for the crème brûlée which was divine. Blooming brilliant 😁

Had Sunday Lunch ...it was fab could not fault it at all fresh beautiful presented big portions cooked to perfection!! I can not recommend the Sticky Toffee Pud enough best EVER well done to excelent Chef and great team there 👏

Absolutely delicious triple cooked chips with port and blue cheese sauce!!! Boyfriend had beer battered cod with chips which were again delicious!!! Thoroughly recommend and will definitely be returning x

Today we had a wake after mums funeral. The food was excellent all freshly made the quiches were tasty and the scones were excellent. Would definitely recommend this pub and visit again.

Been to the White Bear before, around two years ago and had a brilliant meal. Arrived around 1pm time so decided to have another lunch time meal. On arrival it looked like it had changed hands, as the staff where still being trained. Ordered a main meal each and sat back and relaxed. Half a hour passed and still no sign of any food, wasn't to busy, ok. 45 minutes and still waiting, at this point i think the paperwork has gone a missing. At long last the meal arrives on the hour mark. Meal brilliant, service a bit on the slow side and would think again about going.

Wow an amazing place to eat, friendly, great service and fantastic yummy food. We ordered lots of different choices from the menu and were blown away by taste and price Here is a selection of what we ordered and every plate was empty!

I feel sad that I didn't say something whilst I was there but, I feel that my words would have been upsetting rather than constructive. The staff and setting were very nice. Covid meant that open doors left the building colder than preferable. The food took time to come. Prawns over cooked, a salad which was very much a starter and the ploughman's was mostly an expensive deconstructed ham and cheese bap. I would have commented on the truffle chips but I only got the triple cooked ones which are, in the very best hostelries, fat collectors. I believe this was an off day. Do go but ask about the food and be specific. On a hot day, I may have been happier.

My little boy had severe food poisoning from this restaurant on Friday afternoon! We waited over a hour for our food and when the beef burger came it looked well fired however they have obviously cooked it on a high heat too quickly and the burger had not cooked all the way through he left some on his plate but the damage had already been done as he’s only 5 and its still made Him very ill within a few hours of eating it! you would think the chef would have checked as they knew it was for a child. I contacted the restaurant and was told someone would call me back this hasn’t happened and they have removed the facebooked reviews so that I cannot leave one & for that reason I will be reporting them to the food and standards agency.
