From the moment you walk through the doors of The Shrewsbury Arms the atmosphere surrounds you. The decor is tasteful and there was a wonderful feeling of Christmas. The menu was the best Christmas festive menu I have seen this year and the sharing platters elevated it beyond the norm. The food arrived hot and it was delicious. The service was exemplary and we felt valued by Cerys who was our server. The prices were certainly good value for what we ordered. The restaurant was very busy and I can fully understand why the Shrewsbury Arms are certainly ticking all of the boxes.

Wow what a lovely lunch Chose from the Christmas Menu £19.50 for 2 courses we both had the roast beef absolutely gorgeous the Eton Mess was perfect as was the brownie for desert also got a mince pie and coffee thrown in Service was great Please get yourselves a table booked you won't regret it

Booked a table for 5, arrived just before. The restaurant area was quiet, but it took 25 minutes before the wife had to go fetch someone to take our order. The doom bar tasted off and had a cidery aftertaste. We ordered doughballs for starters and they came out cold in the middle. Burger and chips next. Fries tasted like they'd travelled around with Deliveroo for 15 mins as they tasted stale and was barely warm. The Burger tasted nice but again, it was just acceptable on how warm it was. The bar area was moderately busy, but the restaurant area had just cleared out a big table, and wasn't busy, no more than 30% of tables were sat at. No body checked on us, and no one asked if we wanted drinks when served our meal, baring in mind we just sat for an hour before our burgers came out.

Had lovely Sunday lunch with family. Food was delicious the Honey Roast ham/beef/turkey was very nice. The roast potatoes were fluffy and vegetables lovely followed by tasty gravy. Will definitely returning soon.

Staff could be more attentive, stood there 5 minutes possibly more waiting for our booked table, staff kept walking past but no acknowledgement, a quick comment of " we will be with you in 2 minutes" would be just enough to keep everyone happy.

A wonderful homely place that was peacefully pleasent and a great warm vibe. Music was just the right volume and staff efficient, friendly and polite. For a first visit I'm very impressed. My order consisted of the halloumi ciabatta and the desert was chocolate brownie. Halloumi was cooked nice and perfect. Some may find the jam overpowering. I upgraded to the parmesan fries which were a better addition instead of plain. The desert was fantastic, warm and perfect ratio of chocolate to brownie however I'd have liked a bit more ice cream but beggars can't ve choosers. Was still top notch. Thankyou to the staff for making it pleasant. Will definitely be back.

Have dined in the restaurant and the bar. Although quite pricey the portion sizes are generous and the food has always been top notch. Unfortunately they have changed the lunch menu and there isn't a lot of choice which is a shame. So I wouldn't rate it for lunch now but for an evening meal it is spot on.

This is an excellent restaurant for a family gathering. Special mention for Cerys for friendly efficient table service.

A party of 27 attended on Saturday lunch time to celebrate a 60th birthday. Considering the large number , the food was served very quickly and everyone managed to eat together. The food was delicious and hot . The service was very good. I believe Cerys was looking after us. Nothing was too much trouble and the restaurant was busy with other diners too . We all had a lovely time and will definitely return in the near future .

Could not believe the service. They brought the wrong drinks and after we finished our mains we didn't get anything other than the bill thrown on the table. Poor customer service.

Food is usually spot-on here but this time my meal was disappointing. Too small a portion for the price - 4 tiny pieces of cauliflower and a starter-sized portion of noodles. Won't stop me coming here again but I'll expect better.

Sunday lunch 6 months ago was very good. Today it was poor. All meat was overcooked whilst cauliflower was so raw a knife couldn't cut it. Roast potatoes were soggy. Staff didn't understand that gluten free actually meant keeping such food completely away from gluten rich food. I won't be going back.

Ordered salt and pepper squid and gambas pil pil for starters and birria beef fries, chicken tenders and medium rare sirloin steak for mains. When starters arrived we got prawns and veg in a onion flavoured water, I made the manager aware and she said it was not was is usually served and she will get it done again for us. When it came out the second time it looked like stir fried veg and prawns cooked in what tasted like soy sauce. Made the manager aware again that it was not as stated on the menu. She apologised. When the mains arrived there was no steak knife given so had to go and find a waitress to get one, after cutting into the steak it was well done not medium rare. I made the manager aware but as this point i had lost my appetite and didn't want to order anything else. Shame as we have eaten here many times and not had issues. (Do have photos but can't seem to upload them)

A great discovery near RAF Cosford. Pretty elegant, nice service and great food. Hamburguers and sirloin are a must.

Popped in for a quick drink last night and it was great to see that they serve alcohol free Guinness with a proper pull! The Guinness tasted better than the real thing and best off all no hangover 👍

The Shrewsbury Arms made us welcome despite being 30 minutes early for the table. The restaurant is a nice mixture of lively without being noisy - a conversation ican be held very quietly. Service is friendly, attentive and efficient without being pushy. The menu is fairly wide ranging and changes periodically so there's usually something new and interesting, though the excellent pies always remain. Food is well cooked and presented. Prices are competitive.

Lovely roast dinner! We come here often and never disappointed! Could do with some background music for atmosphere but overall really nice!

Live music, good outside area where most were due to the heat. Only 2 pumps of real ale on, the dreaded Boom Dar and the lively Three Tuns which was well kept. We will be back.

As we are deaf, we looked for an email address to book a table on website and FB. Aside the meal was superb, service impeccable and lovely setting of an restaurant. Good range of beers. Three disabled parking opposite the entrance make for easy access for those with mobility issues. Beer garden in the sunshine.

The 3 members of staff on duty were very polite but i would like to extend a massive thank you to the lovely young lady who took our orders and looked after us throughout, not sure of the name of the member of staff but she knows who she is , it’s the girl with the long light curly hair , please pass on our sincere thank you . I am part of a dining club. Two tables were booked by the same person to accommodate a group of 10. When we arrived we were placed in different parts of the restaurant. When a table of 8 was a no show they could have sorted this out easily and incredibly they refused our request to be seated together. The service was slow. My turkey was dry and the meal was over salted. I enjoyed my soup starter. The staff remained civil but frustratingly unhelpful. The restaurant was also very warm and needs some sort of ventilation. The level of service was just not good enough. The food was below par and the restaurant was too warm.

A fantastic find and only half an hour from home! Perfect Sunday afternoon, sun trap, great food and the nicest environment! Can't wait to return!

Great British pub Excellent food

Shocking food katsu chk black dry tasted pepper and coleslaw acidic . My friends glass stunk like not being cleaned it was sent back and menu poor compared what used be like. Menus were covered in food filthy and toilets were dirty . On arrival at our table not asked to order drinks and after we eventually got drink during our food no one came asked if food was okay or if anymore drinks required. Manager took our feedback but you could tell that he was not going to follow through our concerns. Four customers lost used be fab it needs be sorted out one way loose business. Spoiled our afternoon.

Disappointed with the food this time. I wanted seabass but none left, so had a pie, pastry on pie was so hard couldn't cut it.

What went wrong today Shrewsbury arms? Absolutely awful from start to finish. Booked a table for 5 people weeks ago for Father’s Day. Walked in and no one acknowledged us. Waited and waited by the piano. Finally seated. No one came to take drinks order. Asked twice. Drinks finally came. Placed food order and Only upon ordering items were we then told they weren’t available, despite the fact they only had a smaller menu to normal available. So re-chose food. After 50minutes of waiting for our starters the waitress came over and said the kitchen had lost our order. So we re-ordered food again, to then be told that the beef dinners that had been available when we first ordered were no longer available. Re-chose food again for 3rd time!! Starters came and 2 plates of calamari were total uncooked and not edible. Batter was raw and unfried. Pointed this out to waitress when she collected our un eaten food. Still charged for both portions on bill. Main meals came which were good but sharing platters had beef missing from them since they had apparently ran out, although 10 minutes later we saw someone being given 2 beef dinners?! Items were substituted on deserts because again they had run out of items we had ordered 1.5 hours previously. Waited and waited and waited for 2nd round of drinks to arrive. We had been told we wouldn’t be charged for all the food because frankly the evening had been a nightmare. We had commented that it was like being in faulty towers. The young drinks waitress wasn’t even able to put drinks onto the table and seemed to have 0 serving experience. Sort yourself out Shrewsbury arms your going downhill fast. We have had lots of lovely meals with you over many years but something has obviously changed recently. We won’t be returning for a while.

Outside looks very deceiving - inside fantastic decor and amazing food with portion size unexpectedly large. Not too bad prices. Really worth a visit

Attended bank Holiday Monday, seated and then to be told most if the menu sold. Absolutely disgusting. Will never eat there again menu awful, we where never informed be forehand there was hardly any food, this has happened to our party on four occasions. To compound it they where still serving on reduced menu up to 9.pm

Good selection of beer and a good atmosphere

I recently dined at the shrew and had a fantastic experience. The ambiance was lovely, the service was top-notch, and the food was delicious. I tried the Sunday roast sharing platter and it was absolutely mouth-watering. The presentation was beautiful and the flavors were perfectly balanced. I also appreciated the attention to detail from the staff and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant. I will definitely be returning and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

Fabulous place with fabulous staff serving excellent food.

I've been coming here for some time and hold the staff in really high regard, however I had a really poor experience for my birthday recently and I just feel it's not quite the place it once was. We came as a family mid-week and decided to sit in the bar area. Normally this is very pleasant but not so much now. We were very disappointed with the atmosphere - swearing and glasses being smashed. Tables were all dirty and dishes, glasses piled up everywhere. Food - my dish had to be returned to the kitchen twice. First time - it was cold. Second - it had clearly been microwaved at speed and returned. Not what you expect for a costly steak dish. The staff were great as always, but I can't help but feel the atmosphere has now changed. Seems more of a place for a big social scene rather than somewhere to come for a quality meal/experience.

Went for Sunday lunch 7/4/24 ... standard has dropped .. beef dinner was cold had to go back but second one wasn't much better.. when asked how was it and we said we weren't happy .. we were apologised to and that was it management so where to be seen ...

Our memory of eating here in the past is so much better than now. Service from the bar was poor: chilled white wine was carelessly brought to the table unopened - not a screwtop - and without a cooler until we asked for proper service! Ambience was unbearably shrill with over excited children at a huge table - lovely for the family but not for other diners (the waitress commented that they did consider talking to the parents but that is not acceptable these days). Presentation for starters was very poor as just piled into deep bowls. Why don't restaurants use plates any more? The menu offers choice, although there's an emphasis on burger stacks, but the food is poor. Three of the four mains served were inedible due to being so salty. Management listened and adjusted the bill but we can't say that's an incentive to return as we didn't go out to complain but to enjoy the company of friends. There was live music in the bar as we left but the sound resembled someone being strangled - even the staff were commenting! Ending on a positive note, our table waitress did provide good table service.

An average Sunday lunch and same about the service for the price not blown away at all.

My boyfriend and I have dined here before and it was lovely- that’s why I came again- except I was greatly disappointed by the lack of overall care for the customers. We arrived early for our booking and it took about 10 minutes to be seated. We then sat for almost half an hour before anyone came to take our drinks order, which we asked for: a single gin and lemonade, a Peroni, and a jug of water. This then took about 20 minutes to arrive, the head of the beer was flat, the gin had no straw, and they missed the jug of water. Our food came quickly and was delicious although incredibly spicy with no prior indication. We therefore ordered a second round of drinks with emphasis on the water (due to the spice) and they came after a similar wait to the first round- also, with no water. By this point, me and my partner swapped dishes as it was disgustingly hot. My boyfriend, who is normally tolerant of spice, couldn't handle it either. We noticed the utter disregard for customers as not a single waitress had came over the entire meal (despite both me, and my boyfriend attempting to catch their eye). Eventually, someone came over and we ordered the water and it thankfully came promptly. We were pretty fed up after this experience so asked for the bill only to see they’d charged me an extra £5 for a double gin (which I didn’t ask for). This is incredibly worrying, as I had quickly drank it to cope with the spice and I wasn’t intending on drinking that much tonight. We then told the waitress who took it back to the till, only to return telling us: “you drank a double so you have to pay for it.” When she asked if we’d had a nice meal. We told her of our disappointing experience and her reply was worryingly nonchalant. So we paid and left asap. This experience was overall disappointing as it was a celebration of our anniversary and we wanted to treat each other. Sadly, we won’t return here again and we will have to find another place to receive nice meals, good service and correct drinks.

Nice place, excellent food. Wrong beer was brought, wrong food was brought as ordered the Gochujang chicken burger but was bought the Motherclucka chicken burger, service wasn’t fast and food did take a while on a quiet Monday night, chips could have been warmer, prices expensive, £23 for a burger and drink

We hadn’t been for a while, but the food and service is as good as ever. Good vegetarian choice, ample parking, and a pleasant environment, directly opposite the local church. We hope to return soon.

Attended for a family get together, had 3 course each. The food was amazing, lovely atmosphere and spot on service from Katie.

Managed to fit us in short notice after our previous booking let us down. Service amazing, food was epic, unfortunately didn't have the bankok bad boi available but after a cheeky request but Asian slaw on my burger anyway. My only downside is the burgers are served in crates, not for me, ask for a plate.

Lovely meal and great friendly service. Really fantastic steak and a great ice cream sundae. My only minor criticism is that the background music is a bit too loud.

Myself and my fiance visited on Saturday evening, have to say the food was amazing. We had prawns for our starter, our mains was steak, and the steak pie. We didn't have a pudding due to being full, as the portions were fairly big. Table...

5pm on a Sunday. No shared platter, no beef or gammon available. Had to pay for 2 turkey dinners - no stuffing and turkey was dry. Very disappointed!
