Popped in the new inn , Salisbury as looked great from the outside & was a little hungry! Was not disappointed the had a main menu & a specials menu plenty of choice ! I went for a classic I found liver , bacon & garlic mash with peas right up my street lol , food was amazing so glad I found this place !! Staff amazing pub amazing & a massive garden at the rear of restaurant sadly a bit wet for that tonight ! I had great service from Kyle & rhonna they have mastered the art of service at a young age ! Anyway enough rambling on a great all rounder and we’ll worth a visit .5*

A large, persistently barking dog is locked up on the first floor. I would like to see more consideration for the need for peace and quiet of the entire street and the guests, as well as more animal protection.

Looking for a place to have a Sunday lunch and came across The New Inn, looked ok inside and lovely bar lady served us. I said I don't like garlic as the vegetables were served with garlic. The lady came and said I could have veg with no garlic. Great I thought and waited for our meal which arrived quickly. My husband and myself started eating our beef which was tough!!. The whole meal was cold. I left mine and my husband ate a bit then left the rest. We told the bar lady we did not enjoy the meal and reason. Paid over £51 for 2 cold roast meals, orange juice and half cider. Will definitely not go again.

I normally only leave bad reviews..... occasionally somewhere or something stands out and this is one of those places. Fast polite service and EXCELLENT pub food REASONABLY priced! Can't believe I've found this gem of a historical pub. Well worth a visit everytime I'm in Salisbury

Welcomed on arrival and it got even better from there. Sitting in the well maintained garden we had an exceptional meal with the right amount of attention from the staff. Can't fault the service at the bar but wheni brought ttto the attention of a member of staff albeit kitchen staff a potential health and safety issue he said , not my problem. The issue was with garden furniture which was unsafe.

Used to love coming here for wrap and chips,so disappointed changed ownership food changed very disappointed and the bad language in the garden has put us off from coming back

We celebrated a 60th birthday at The New Inn, and had a fantastic evening. Steve couldn't do enough for us. The food was good, but what really made the evening memorable was the banter with Steve and the wonderful surprise when the chef brought out a complementary platter of puddings for the birthday girl, along with a hilarious gift! A lovely touch which was much appreciated. The New Inn is under new management. If they continue as they have started, I'm sure it will be a roaring success. Thank you for a wonderful evening, wishing you all the very. best for the future.

We had a celebration dinner there last week and the staff could not have been friendlier, they went beyond and above to make sure we have a good time. Lovely place and great large garden. Thank you!

Amazing little pub with a brilliant garden

We booked a table for 10 on 13th April for a family get together, including two children and a dog. The staff were amazing, efficient and made sure we were all happy with our choices, but not constantly in your face. The food was really good, 6 of us had fish and chips which was a good size portion, hot and delicious. One had a burger, and one a steak sandwich both of which were thoroughly enjoyed. The childrens meals were a good size and were demolished pretty quickly. All the food came out together and was freshly cooked and hot. We got there at 12.30 and it did start to get very busy by 1.00 ish. We all enjoyed our visit and will definitely be returning.

Went with my husband for Sunday lunch after hearing good reviews, firstly they mixed up the orders and got my husbands order wrong he ordered the mixed meats for Sunday lunch and only received pork (This was at 12.00 so one of the first customers) for the waiter to say keep a hold of that and we will bring other meats out in 15 minutes, all while i had received mine and the veg was getting colder and colder, ten minutes later they did come with the rest of the food and when we asked if the veg could be heated the waitress this time looked less than impressed, cauliflower cheese was an extra at £8 and was just cauliflower dumped in a bowl very bland. Two drinks and two Sunday dinner £65 later had a lot better for less so would not be going back.

Only had a drink here. It's a real ale pub, but the selection is limited and the pint I had wasn't very well kept with sediment on the bottom. Don't I'd go back.

Had Sunday lunch here. The service was polite but very slow. The food was pretty poor particularly the "roast beef" which was more like an overcooked, tough, grissly steak. Location is very convenient for the Cathedral thpugh

We went here on the first sunny Saturday of the year so they were incredibly busy. There were no tables in garden when we arrived but the landlady was super quick to get us one outside. We had Sunday lunch, 9 of us and it was poor.A few ordered starters, 3 ordered the Brie mine was ok ish but 3 parcels didn’t have any brie in it was just empty our friends didn’t come we had to ask for his we definitely ordered 3 but only 2 arrived. When his eventually arrived i think he only had one that actually had any brie in it the rest were empty and it wasn’t cheap either i think it was £8. The steak was very under done with blood on the plate. Someone did comment that a good vet could bring it back to life. All in all very disappointing

As soon as we arrived we received a warm welcome and shown to our table, staff very friendly, we both had venison steak and we were not disappointed! It was an amazing roast, it was my birthday and I was given a mini bottle of Prosecco which was soon followed by the chefs coming out to talk to us and present me with a full size bottle to say happy birthday! Service was so good and the atmosphere was warm and friendly! Would definitely recommend and would visit again!

Ok, I absolutely love this pub and every time I come to Salisbury I use it especially in the summer because I adore the garden. Best been garden in my opinion in Salisbury. Food always good, service and friendliness always spot on as is value for money. I’m not sure if it’s changed hands but I was slightly disappointed yesterday. Friendly welcome as always, lunch menu had changed but it read ok, opted for open sandwich at £16 quite hefty but fair enough, but it came on one piece of normal sliced square piece of granary bread, with a big chunk of Stilton and 3 small slices of steak on top and a small side salad - the chips didn’t arrive so they were removed from the bill. It was ok nothing special, I would have been happy to pay £10. Would I return…yes but feel a bit sad about the food

Lovely classic pub, beautiful inside and out - by far the best beer garden in town. Had their Sunday roast and it was delicious, everything was cooked to perfection. Can't wait to visit again - compliments to the chef 🤌🏼🤌🏼

Lovely pub but there is always bunch of regular customers( always the same ones) who are such a racist. Bald guy,the other one wearing masonic ring and them mates . They will make u feel so unwelcome , throwing some nasty comments towards you or telling you to shut up, obviously, they’re not gonna tell you that straight in the face(it’s happened to me and my family few times as we visiting Salisbury at least three times during a year. So if you are foreign tourist, avoid this place !!!

Gorgeous pub, lovely big garden delicious food.

New owners and the food was great. We had pulled brisket burgers. I rarely have a burger but thought this sounded good and it was delicious. We also thought the service was excellent and made the meal even more enjoyable.

We visited the PAB. As for the dishes, it was tasty, but in my opinion, the portion is a little too small, and the price is a little too high.

It's a very old pub dating back to the early 16th century and full of historic charm. It's cosy, the staff are very friendly and obliging. It's my favourite pub in Salisbury.

Great location on New Street with easy access to the Cathedral & the historic heart of Salisbury. We had drinks before going for lunch at a venue close by. Garden looked great but unfortunately it was pouring with rain so we sat inside. Not there long enough to form a strong opinion but if in the area we would visit again.

A little grotty. Indifferent service. Staff chopping and changing the music was annoying.

When you look through the window on a Sunday afternoon and see no one eating, it's for a reason. starter was great, then the 30 min wait for the main meal to turn up (we did ask where it was and got a short reply from the bar staff) was a sign of things. When it did turn up, on cold plates (beef cavary), my partner had to send hers back to get the food heated up. £60 bill for two persons for two courses, should make you realise there are better places in town, keep walking.......

Lovely old pub, cosy real fire. We didn't eat there, but it seemed very popular, as it got very full on both times we went in for a drink around midday and the evening session. Very central and near to shops and the cathedral.

On a damp and dull day in Salisbury the roaring log fire was a welcome site. The barman/waiter was pleasant and helpful and the food was well cooked standard pub grub. Ideal for a break in a city that’s currently looking rather tired and messy (lots of work being done on rejuvenation so should be better in a year or so).

Lovely old building with a sun trap of a garden in the rear. The French onion soup was delicious and the wraps tasty with a generous portion of fries on the side. Friendly staff.

We read the menu a week ago from the website,booked a table.no email reply, rang on the day ,no problem we will fit you in. We were given a menu that was nothing like on website,very basic. When i queried this was told website was totally out of date as was their answering system. Had to settle for very expensive burger and chips,burger burnt on one side,partners scampi was OK. We just eat and left. Spoke to 2 american ladies who had the same problem with out of date website. I do not recommend this lovely old pub for food There is a big chain pub just around the corner with more choice and better food at half the price

I entered The New Inn, Salisbury, yesterday seeking retreat from the pouring rain and to meet my son after work. I was served at the bar by Harry. I sat on a lovely leather sofa with my book. Harry brought my drink to the table then proceeded to light the fire for me. I was very grateful for his thoughtfulness; the day was wet & cold, and the fire was appreciated. My son and I spent a lovely two hours chatting and enjoying the atmosphere and warmth of this charming old pub with its beamed ceilings and large fireplace. I'd like to especially thank Harry who was welcoming, friendly and professional and helped to make my afternoon very enjoyable. I recommend The New Inn to everybody - cosy in the winter, a lovely beer garden overlooking the cathedral Close on sunny days.

Popped into the New Inn today for lunch on a visit to Salisbury, shopping and cathedral. Warm welcome on arriving, excellent wraps, 1 prawn & chilli and 1 steak & mushroom both accompanied by a very large bowl of' spot-on', fries and good value. Great, friendly, service throughout. Would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful Christmas lunch today at the New Inn. The food was excellent with very generous portions. We were served by a very friendly and attentive member of staff. We would definitely visit again when next in Salisbury.

A large group of us had an ecellent Christmas luch here.Really great food, the pork was the best I have ever eaten. The woodburners were roaring way adding to a wonderful atmasphere. Thank you to all of the staff for a really enjoyable Christmas meal.

We visited Salisbury for a week before Christmas to do some shopping, see the Cathedral and visit some of the local and historic pubs. Then New Inn, despite being a very nice and historic building, was probably the most disappointing, the atmosphere was lacking, the staff seemed to be disinterested, the Ale choice reduced to one beer which was “Tangle Foot” and whilst it was OK is not really a beer to write home about. The food as mentioned in other reviews was disappointing too. We were very surprised by this overall impression of the pub and really wanted it to be better, but unfortunately not to be. Loads of better historic pubs in Salisbury to visit. (Even the Wetherspoons did a better beer selection and the food was good too, never thought I would say that:)

Child's microwave pizza served still partly frozen. Sent back, then just warmed through and not served an alternative dish. The advertised Wagyu burger was not what we were expecting - burnt, very basic (burger van style) and not homemade. Very expensive and very poor quality. Disappointing and will not return.

We did try and have a meal on Saturday 12th November evening, as we had tickets to visit Salisbury Cathedral Sarum Lights at 7pm. After waiting and drinking in your pub from 4.30pm, as the kitchen didn’t open until 6pm, we went to the bar to order some food at 6pm where we were then told that as the chef was cooking for a table of 20 that we couldn’t have any food!!! 😳 Shocked is an understatement and totally unbelievable service (or lack of) !!! We ended up in Wagamama’s and had some amazing food!

Standard pub food. We had squid and Brie starters which were probably frozen. The mains of battered cod and steak and ale pie were ok but nothing special. Disappointed with the lack of cask beer and the size of the bill. On the plus side the pub is 14th century and full of character and very cosy with the living fires.

Visiting my family in Salisbury, we settled on The New Inn and I’m so glad we did. The pub itself is absolutely gorgeous with a beautiful garden. The menu has so much to offer and caters for all palettes. Our food was utterly delicious and incredibly reasonably priced considering the pub’s location being so close to the Catherdral. Lou served us our drinks at the bar. She was so friendly, bubbly and was able to assist me with the menu as I needed to ask for a few adjustments. We were waited upon Kyle who deserves a HUGE shoutout as despite being young, was so professional, polite and attentive. We spoke to the manager about how impressed we were with his customer service, she was equally so warm, chatty and welcoming and she should be incredibly proud of her team. We’ll definitely be visiting again and thank you again for a wonderful first visit. It has made a family catch-up even better. Highly recommend this pub to anyone.

Ourselves and friends were looking for somewhere nice to have lunch. We decided on The New Inn in Salisbury. We were not disappointed. The food was lovely, the garden was gorgeous to sit in. The staff were friendly and helpful. We couldn't have picked a nicer place. Only one little quibble, we found the round wooden garden table and bench seat a little awkward to sit on, every time someone moved it felt like the whole table might tip (hence the 4 stars). Would highly recommend to others.

Salisbury is not short of very good pubs and this is one of them. Lots of original features, nooks & crannies and a garden which overlooks the cathedral green. Several excellent ales and areas for larger groups as well as quiet corners to tuck yourself...

Wildly overpriced..no choice...so after drinking a very pleasant fursty ferret...I paid up and leftWaitress was very courteous.... seemed to be lacking care in the surroundings?Ended up in zizzis my olives starter, with lasagna and gem lettuce salad side was fresh and cost 40p more than the 8oz sirloin from new Inn.

Roast dinner was great, beef a little fatty, potatoes could have done with a little longer in the oven, but lots of vegetables which were really well cooked. Overall it was really good and would come back.

I was really looking forward to this pub visit, with its history etc. However the receptionist that showed us to a table and the waitress that brought the food couldn’t have been less interested in their job if they had tried.The food was nice pub grub, but nearly £15 for pie and mash! Took us about 50 minutes to get our first drinks, when we asked where they were the waitresses were very arsey. Would not recommend just for drinks, we didn’t stick around to order food as we weren’t sure if it was going to come by next week.

Warning the menus on the website are a decade old - the actual menu is as basic as you can get yet stupidly overpriced. Staff surly & unhelpful. £10 for a glass of Pinot & Diet Coke which arrived after a mere 15 minutes. Save your money, time & disappointment.

We ordered a delivery via just eat - of who I cannot fault.When our order arrived we were missing key elements from every dish.Thai Curry - no noodles as described in the menu and barely any curry to speak of.Chicken pie: no peas as described on the menu.Burger: no coleslaw provided as described in the menu or bacon. One order requested extra cheese and lettuce - no extra cheese and the lettuce consisted of what I presume was a very lonely and forgotten spinach leaf.I appreciate times are difficult at the moment and this is why we chose to support a local business and especially as it is a premise we have frequented before.I would not be leaving this negative review had the owners had the decency to respond to the email sent. I had tried to contact them via telephone with no success, therefore I sent an email with the issues we found.I have not even received an acknowledgement of the email let alone an apology. Clearly as a customer my complaint is of no interest, therefore this is not a place I recommend or will be using again.

This historic inn is just outside of the main pedestrian area but close enough to the market square and well worth tracking down. Its a wonderful historic building and 2 of us had an excellent lunch there in front of the fire. Good efforts to promote a Covid safe environment, excellent food and helpful staff. I had the excellent burger. The pub also has a very nice garden and I look forward to returning.

Esperamos siglos para nuestras comidas y cuando llegaron eran porciones pequeñas y todas las comidas estaban tibias o frías como una piedra. ¡Pidió que la piedra fría se calentara y luego la incinerara! Le dijimos a la camarera que se disculpó y nos cobró el precio completo.Definitivamente no volvería.

Cenamos aquí con amigos el sábado por la noche, la cena en sí fue encantadora, se olvidaron de la salsa de mi compañero para su bistec, así que tuvo que esperar 5 minutos más para esto y su cena estaba comenzando a enfriarse cuando llegó, pero eso fue un poco. falla. . en general fue encantador, la única queja que tengo es que el servicio fue bastante lento, estábamos esperando bastante tiempo para nuestras bebidas y cuando mi compañero fue a preguntar dónde estaban, nos dijeron que se habían olvidado de ellos. Creo que tal vez esto deba abordarse ya que escuché otra mesa con la misma queja.

Nuestra noche en New Inn fue bastante decepcionante. Estaban demasiado cocidos y el queso y el tocino extra que pedimos no añadieron sabor en absoluto, de hecho, ni siquiera pudimos probarlos. Además, eran más caros que en el menú de Internet; supongo que necesitaban recuperar el descuento de 10. Para el postre comimos crumble de ruibarbo y natillas, el ruibarbo estaba muy bueno pero el crumble era pesado probablemente debido al hecho de que los jugos del ruibarbo se habían empapado, no muy bueno y ambos comimos la fruta.
