A lovely relaxing evening spent at Braan Sauna. There are lovely views across the Tay as you get cosy in the sauna or take the plunge in the cold pool. There were a few new additions added, including a plunge bucket that is not yet in action - so I will look forward to coming back to try these out.

It was everything you could wish for in a holiday . The accomodation was warm and welcoming.Attention to detail was great. Reasonable price and spotlessly clean. The area had so many nature walks. The highlight is The Hermitage. Breathtaking scenery. The food was delicious and service great in each place I ate. Would certainly recommend Dunkeld and Birmham to visit.

The staff were really nice, but the food was really expensive, we just went for the Scottish cheese platter thing to share, at £14 we thought you would get enough to share as a snack, not even close to be honest, three slivers of cheese, crackers and pickle. I'm very disappointed.

There is no doubting that the Taybank has considerable charm, the bar area exudes old-time allure and, coupled with the traditional music, is a great place for a pint. The restaurant, unfortunately, is another matter entirely. The food, apart from being grossly overpriced, proved to be largely inedible with two of our tables plates being returned to the kitchen uneaten and exchanged for cheese and biscuits. Enjoy a pint of Cheeky Chappie ale in the bar, by all means, but my advice would be to go elsewhere to eat. You have been warned!

Had an absolutely unbelievable scran at the Taybank this weekend. Sunday Roast up there with one of the best I’ve ever had, and a beautiful interior both upstairs and downstairs with views over the river. Didn’t catch the name of the gentleman who served us but he was an absolute rockstar, even during what seemed to be a busy lunchtime rush. Whether it be for drinks or food, you won’t regret stopping here. Can’t wait to return!

First impressions weren’t great when we went to the bar to say we had a booking no warm welcome! Said our name yer up stairs he said the man with dark hair I can only say he was miserable and grumpy! Different story upstairs the young man was so lovely warm and welcoming even though he was run off his feet, we did wait rather along time for the food but it was really delicious worth the wait.

An amazing find after a disappointing visit/exit from a neighbouring hotel. What a vibe!! Myself and my partner left our reservation at a nearby hotel to stumble across an end of summer garden gathering at The Tayside! This place can't be faulted in any way shape or form! The staff were incredible, the food/drinks were amazing and the overall atmosphere/vibe was a dream. Such a pleasant uplift after being solely disappointed with our original booking. If you are passing through Dunkeld this is the place to be, highly recommend and we will most definitely be back for a visit. Thank to both staff and community alike for a lovely experience 😊

Went to the bar and asked for a Morgan’s Spiced Rum to be told we don’t serve that. Offered a Glasgow Spiced Rum so thought I’d try it. Asked for a Ginger Beer to be told we don’t have that. Feeling a wee bit let down then asked for a Grouse Whisky and guess what? They don’t have that. What am I missing here? Later friends went to order a Pizza and the oven was broken 🤷♀️. Happy days - surely a place like this with the amount they cater for should be a bit more organised.

Lovely place to stop for lunch, if it's sunny it will be a pleasant break. There are tables on the lawn (even some covered), which directly overlook the river, a nice atmosphere. Simple but quite varied menu, with some vegetarian options; everyone took pizza, but being Italian we chose something else. We had a burger with chips, good portion and decent quality. Light beer, some of the best cider tried here (if you like a strong apple flavour). High prices considering the simple food and minimal service: you order at the counter, you bring your own cutlery, there is no table setting, etc. However the place is touristy, it is difficult to spend less here. For the overall atmosphere, I would definitely stay here again.

Sitting across the road on the outside area, several major failings: very poor service, they lost our lunch order and when we highlighted this after observing others getting there after us, we had to chase it again after another 20 mins! Waited over an hour in the end for our food. Very expensive for what you get, a meat dish was more expensive than the vegetarian dish and the vegetarian dish was some chickpeas, leafs and a bit of cheese! Benches were uncomfortable, mind you maybe we were not meant to be there for that long! Location wise, lovely!

This place is superb! We were staying in Dunkeld for a couple of nights and lodging nearby. We arrived at lunchtime and spotted the large beer garden beautifully situated next to the river; naturally, we popped in for a glass of wine and some lunch. The sun was shining and the garden was buzzing and two carpenters (one of whom we later discovered to be the owner, Fraser) were busy building some new benches from scratch. Later that evening, we set off to take a look at some of the other pubs/eateries in the village only to spot a sign at the Taybank publicising the trad session that was about to start. We ditched our previous plans and went and perched at the bar drinking pints of Leith Juice with some of the locals before the bar filled with musicians and visitors. Another great night ensued. And that was it, we were hooked. For our last night we ditched our existing plans yet again and instead signed up for dinner at the “Long Table” right next to the river, hosted by Fraser and his wife, offering welcome cocktails and multiple courses cooked over an open fire. All really quite special. Apparently the dinners are held monthly throughout the summer. To sum up: great hosts (and boy do they work hard!), lovely staff, fantastic cuisine, amazing location. Our only regret in fact was that we didn’t know in advance to book a room at the Taybank! We hope to be back very soon, hopefully with friends… we might not bother with any other plans next time round or else we’ll need to stay a week….

Well to be honest it's hard for me to rate the Taybank because I still know the Tay Bank as it used to be (a pub with instruments all over the walls and plenty of live music going on day in and day out). I do love the new outdoor sitting area at the river. Great view. I really appreciate how the toilets/bathrooms now are. Staffwise, there is not much going on to rate the because you order at the bar and you get what you asked for. It seems harder nowadays to get a time of staff when ordering stuff. Never stayed in any of their rooms so can not rate them. Food is okay but it's not proper pub food anymore. It's all kind off wanna be posh and that has ruined it for me. I miss the old days and the old Tay Bank

We have been at the Taybank to celebrate my birthday with a group of 8 adults and 4 kids. The venue was beautiful but the service was very poor: no menus were distributed before we were asked for drinks order, food took more than 1h15 to arrive, kids orders arrived even later, food was ok but nothing special. We ordered coffees but some were cold when arrived, again after a long wait. Just when we were about to finish our coffee the waitress came asking to "make a move" as they needed to prepare the venue for the evening - which sounded ironic as the service was so late throughout the meal. It is understandable that things might be slow around holidays, but communication and customer care were very poor. Frankly not the best way to celebrate and we will not be back.

This establishment cannot cope with large bookings. if you are seated upstairs in the restaurant make sure it is beside the bar area and not in the back as they will forget about you. It took 30 mins to order drinks, we were eventually served our main course 1hour 30 mins after arriving. The children's meals took another 15 mins. I think the fault lies with the kitchen as the waiting staff are ok to a point but the time lag is the kitchen's fault. However the real crux came when we were asked to leave as we had been in the restaurant too long and they had to prepare for evening service , had they served us within any reasonable time frame we would have been out easily within the required time. We were then told that it was our fault as we were in late by 5 mins which was due to heavy traffic. I can only say that there is no way we would have been served any earlier. My husband and I had been there before and we tried to manage expectations however it was just as bad the second visit. it was a lunch for my daughter in laws birthday.

Our lunch at the Taybank was the highlight of a beautiful day in Dunkeld. Three of us visited the Taybank for lunch along with my 2.5 year old and it was a wonderful experience. The staff was kind, generous, accommodating, and took gentle pride in the quality of the food and drinks. The food was remarkable - sophisticated and bright but accessible enough for all of us, including the little one, to enjoy it tremendously. The drinks were fantastic and the recommendations from the staff were spot on. I could not recommend the Taybank highly enough. One of our party lives locally and they are already planning a return visit. I can't speak to the hotel itself but if it is managed with even half of the grace of the restaurant it will be a fantastic experience. I'd also like to note that the bar staff was particularly kind about having a young child for lunch and the manager Rich was so friendly and helpful. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

This place has all the potential for a 5 star experience and you may well have it by going here! Unfortunately, we did not and it's worth explaining why. For context, we didn't stay overnight - just had a meal in the restaurant one night and went to the beer garden another. Restaurant: Food was generally very good and prices reasonable. I'd especially recommend the tempura chard if it's on the menu! The setting of the restaurant is also lovely. However, we ended up waiting about an hour between starters and main meal (2 people). We were advised approx 40 minutes into the wait that one of the mains was no longer available and a substitute would be provided - there was some gnocchi-improvised-from-potato-mash involved. Service were on top of this though and did remove this item from the bill. So in summary, good elements involved but a couple areas that could do with attention. Beer garden: We went along to the beer garden to catch the rugby world cup final. This was sadly quite a disappointing experience (that ended up with the limited attendance clearing out before half time). In short, coverage only started after national anthems. No sound other than via headphones (??), which didn't work (?!). Pizzas were pretty tasty but the cheese was stringy as a ball of yarn (positive) with no cutlery or tissues provided (negative). And at c. £16 per pizza, felt a bit cheated by the whole experience. The rooms themselves look lovely and I'm sure on a summer's day if you're looking to enjoy some drinks and a bit of food in a lovely setting, the Taybank probably covers exactly what you're looking for! They also run a traditional music session in the main bar on a Thursday evening, which is absolutely worth checking out! But I'm afraid for us, it's unlikely we would rush back for anything other than that.

Go for a beer and the view, not for the food. Although the pizzas looked delicious, we wouldn’t know. After almost an hour of everyone being served but us, we inquired about the status of our order. First, they couldn’t find it and asked to see our receipts. We would have gladly shown them but THEY DON’T GIVE RECEIPTS! Then they found part of our order and realized they messed up. We were on a schedule, so the only thing we could do is ask for a refund, which they reluctantly gave us. TERRIBLE service!

Part of hotel we were staying at. Interesting as it is a public bar. Good atmosphere and locals as well as hotel guests. Nice open fire, locals bring their dogs, hotel mealsxare served in bar also.

Ordered vegan food and found what seemed like animal part in it. They insisted it was part of a mushroom which it clearly wasn’t. This made my wife feel sick and therefore couldn’t accept the offer of another meal. Offers of drinks etc weren’t acceptable as this had ruined our evening. I had to argue for any reduction in the bill and was threatened with the police if I didn’t pay. Appalling customer service.

We needed reservations but stopped in a little early and the maitre d' accommodated us. The food was fine but burgers in Scotland are not a match for Texas beef. The views from the windows were magnificent in the evening.

Went for lunch yesterday with my parents and dog on arrival our table was clearly marked ours and there was already a bowl of water awaiting my dog I thought this was super sweet and thoughtful, the waitress we had was brilliant with my wee Jack Russell she gave him a few biscuits and attention he loved it. Service was quick and the food as always was delicious. Lovely warm welcoming place to eat out and we always choose here when we go for lunch. Great menu lots of choice.
